How well is the battery supposed to be while running the universe V1.4. All I get is about 5hrs with everything usually off. Is that normal. Should I get an extended battery? Can someone like me to one? Thanks.

While I cant speak for universe V1.4 that seems to be extremely poor battery life, i am currently on Blazer 4.1 GB, and with Wifi on, and moderate usage getting a whole day or more on a single charge.
have you wiped your batteries memory recently or just flashed the rom? it usually takes 4-5 full charges and discharges after a flash for the phone to re-learn the battery.
I would reset battery data in the recovery and then charge the phone to full and then fully discharge the battery, do this 4-5 times and see how your battery life is then.
Thanks but how am I supposed to reset my battery stats?
Edit:Nvm Got it.

besides going into recovery to wipe battery stats there is an app called battery calibatiion (market). does the same thing.

On full battery or still plugged on the charger.... I know if u change your rom on half or low battery it really screws up the battery...

I've never heard of such a thing. I've switched ROms many times while @ 30% or below. Regardless, I think it's best to be above 50% and on wireless.
Why would it screw up the battery? I've installed many roms on many occasions and my battery was not fully charged. I'm gettng excellent battery life on CM7 right now (yesterday/today's uptime is almost at 19 hours and still at 40% with moderate usage).
I have the stock battery, mind you.

It really doesn't matter at all, just don't do it with 5-10%, don't want the battery dying while you are in the middle of a flash.
When u recharge the phone when recalibrate does it have to be off or on

This is all you need to worry about man. This goes for updating radios and recoveries through bootloader aswell. If your batt dies in the middle of something it could turn into a brick

Make sure that it's just charged enough that it wont die in the middle of a flash. You don't want that expensive of a paperweight. Other than that being said, i've flashed roms with under 40% battery before.

If you are talking about wiping battery stats, that really doesn't do much.

How long ago did you flash thus particular setup? It generally takes a full cycle or two to get the battery at peak performance.
I flashed when he released FD02 so around that time
You can also download Better Battery Stats to see if a app is keeping the phone awake or Badass Battey Moniter to see what apps are draining it so quickly.

have you tried letting it fully discharge then charge to full?

Not sure what I am doing wrong but my battery life is horrendous. It's not the battery, I have three OEM batteries. Here is a screenshot from this morning:
I'm running Whitehawkx AOKP, build 8-16. Also have bad battery life on FreeGS3 with Trinity kernel. Not sure what I'm doing wrong. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I haven't tried that ROM, but using Stock Debloated or CM10 I easily get a full day of use. I listen to music while at work, read on the subway, and make about 2 hours of calls with about 40% left at the end of every day.
I don't think it's the ROM. I've been getting less than average battery life. Flashed a new theme last night and it definitely worsened. Even on FreeGS3 battery life was not up to par.

Jeez that is some really horrible battery life.
What you should do is a factory reset and flash the new wicked v2 rom with trinity kernel 43b. Make sure to wipe cache partition, dalvik and battery stats wipe.
Also after you do that odex your rom.
I am at 59 percent with 3hours of SCREEN ON time. This is with heavy use.

I'd prefer to keep AOKP as my dd. I know it's working well for people. I just don't know what's wrong with me.

Try to exchange the battery. If you got the phone at a physical store they should just give you a new one.

he already stated that he has THREE OEM BATTERIES.
i too has been having the same issue...even if my screen is on the dimmest setting on my battery stats, its still eating 60% or sometimes even more of my battery. ive tried different stock roms and made sure i factory reset/ wipe cache/battery stats and still no luck. any other suggestions?
battery calibration?
I did that a few flashes ago...maybe I'll try again.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
Battery calibration does nothing. Screen will always be the highest consumer of battery unless you don't use the screen and/or you're in an area with ****ty cell service. That's just how it is. The screens are power hungry. It doesn't mean there's a problem with your phone, that's how it is.
I use battery monitor widget pro and battery calibration to get my extended battery calibrated for new roms and kernels. It works fine for a few cycles, but after the third or fourth cycle, my total mAh measurements go all out of proportion. I have a 3500 mAh extended battery and have the phone registering that it IS an extended battery. The issue im having is that it will only measure 1400 mAh. Is there any way i can fix this or is there a better way to calibrate the battery? This issue is causing battery life to drop from 16-18 hours of use for a full cycle, to now 6 hours tops. Also nothing i do seems to get rid of wakelock either. Any suggestions for either?

Assuming you are using smelkus recovery, go in and wipe battery stats
I have amon-ra recovery. Ive wiped battery stats and everything. Its just reading the mAh wrong. Using cm7 and the mason kernel

How old is your battery?
Maybe about 4-5 months old.
Sent from my PC36100 using xda premium
Maybe try looking at hipkats guide. Its gruelling but gets the job done.
Mind sending me a link? This app is a pain when it comes to searching for topics. Ill post a screenshot for whats going on with my phone.

Ive started recalibrating for the third time this week. The wakelock will not go away. Im using the old custom set of radios to get rid of the wakelock. Ive also flashed the gps fix and everything I'm not sure why its like that. Within an hour i lost 13% and im connected to my wifi. Havent recieved any calls and as you see i havent been doing anything on the phone. I sent three text messages since my recalibration period started. I just dont get it.

When restoring a nandroid, do you have to cycle your battery a few times for better battery life?
Or does it come back to where the battery life was?
Reason I'm asking is because I flashed a new kernel but want to go back to my old kernel without going thru 4 or 5 cycles for best battery life.
I'll never buy all that battery nonsense.
Is battery life an issue for you?

I bought two spare batteries with an external charger from Anker on Amazon for $20.
Totally worth it and even restarting the phone isn't as annoying as I thought it would be.

Well, it you dont wipe your battery log it shouldnt affect the system but I alway recalibrate my battery after flashing a new ROM. Search on PlayStore for the app : BatteryCalibration . It work great and I see the difference!
