I know it's been touched on here and there (I.E.), but I haven't found a dedicated thread to it, and I know I'm definitely not the only one who is plagued by the annoyance. It seems like some have been able to get around the issue with the international version of the phone, but the North American version appears to be quite the hurdle. Either that, or the devs for all our favorite SMS apps aren't from the good ol' US of A, and don't really care about that feature. Either way, It's annoying to have cutting-edge technology in the palm of my hand without any reliable and simple means to have something other than a solid red LED regardless of the notification it represents. On the thread linked above, I noted that some were able to get a blinking notification, I've had no such luck. Perhaps they weren't rooted. I do recall the day I got my phone, before anything had been modified whatsoever, that the LED would flash blue, but once I got GoSMS Pro installed, it changed my SMS to solid red, and has been such ever since. Nothing at all that I have tried will change it.
TLDR: Has anyone found a way to stay on a custom ROM and/or launcher, AND set different color LED for notifications (as well as blink intervals) within the realm of SMS?

I thought about doing CM9, but last I read it doesn't look to be a finished product? I kept up with the thread on it for a bit after its release, and it seemed there were still bugs.

Awesome, I will flash it tonight, and play around with it.
Still curious if anyone has found a workaround on any TW-based ROMs :good:
Lightflow seems to be actively trying to work on the problem.

Well I have searched and searched and can not seem to figure out how to disable the service led without disabling all the functions of ALLledmgr. Of course that works but that means vibration and a number of other things. Someone had mentioned the nled reg entry hack tried that no luck. I have looked through countless dlls and files for any reference that might come close to disabling the service led but I just cant seem to find it. So many other phones(cheap phones) let you disable it why cant this one?
I remember back to a simple hex edit on my motorola that could do many things we even had script files that could change the leds colors etc and do crazy things on boot etc(that was linux of course).
So any of you pros out there came across anything that might be related to the service led?
i love the service LED's if it werent for them i wouldnt like my TyTN as much .. they really mean that much to me
sadly we're not in the good ole' motorola days (that was bliss) but i have the perfect soloution! :
Get a black permanent marker, and colour in the Service LED
et voila!! it no longer flashes and you still have vibrate, sounds etc ...
LOL
That´s was a really tip problem solution !!
Service LED does not bother me at all.
Or gently mash it with a sharp knife or screwdriver. (same solution for that silly light/speaker on cars that warn you to put a seatbelt on)
Maybe I wasnt clear about what I wanted. When I meant service led I meant that it just constantly flashes green to tell you that you have a signal. I want my leds to work, but the way I want them to. I want them to flash when I have a missed call or unread message etc. I just do not want it to constantly flash green in a service area Im always in a service area.
Many of you laugh of course and say it doesnt bother you etc. But I bet that when it is figured out where and how it is access and then being able to customize it change its colors etc, those who laugh will also be among the people using those nifty custom leds(blue for bluetooth, green for message, orange for missed call etc. So try and support the idea instead of laughing at it.
For me seeing that green flash over and over is just a constant reminder of something I can not customize on my super customized phone.

Wow the attatched file actually worked! Still maintain all other functions with only the service led disabled. Im going to start ripping it apart and see if I can come up with anything new.

Please do post the 3.1 verison and thanks
The first one you posted seems to e 3.0 the second 2.1, ill try it to see whats the difference but 3.0 works fine even when charging except it gives you a flashing orange led instead of constant on led, letting it charge to full and see what happens. Yes please post any versions you have so I can try to see the different modifications they are doing between them.
I can see that it is simply using a mort script to scan the notification que for changes and using the treo exe to make modifications. Im in the process of decompiling the treo exe to see what mods can be made.
My concern here(which may be a retarded one so small) that you have a fight going on with the phone constantly telling it to do one thing and the mortscript and treo exe telling it to do something else. I can see that mortscript is using about 3%cpu cycle every 5 seconds or so. Not sure if that is going to impact battery usage or not, but my end goal would be do away with the fighting and just having the os do what its supposed to do.

I would like to request that anyone who likes or uses this app please stop by thier forums and send a thank you. No I have not done anything at all since it is already functional, what I am currently looking into is the other three leds that we have and what can done with them. Im also trying to figure out more info on our leds, if they are only tri color, etc and if its possible to get our two green and red phone leds blinking as a notification as well, but I am pretty sure those two leds are controlled together as on or off and probably cannot be controlled individually, time will tell.

Did this work on HTC Artemis (o2 Orbit) too?
Thank you!
Just a quick note of thanks to CodyPPC for the link!
That damned service light has been annoying me for months - I've taken to putting the phone in a draw / turning it upside down to stop the flashing annoying me when trying to get to sleep in an otherwise totally dark room!
This was the 1st site to come up on a google search - and am really impressed - cheers!
I'll send thanks to the devs on the other forum as well.
It looks like you're looking to enhance/fiddle with this further - controlling the LED's in various ways - - have you made any progress? are you in a position to share any code (compiled/source) or tips? I just want to dabble - have no real goal in mind - -- - the main thing is no more flashing green!!! woo!
Just wondering, but is there any way to increase the pulsing speed of the trackpad LED?
A lot of people have suggested LedMe Know but it doesn't have support for Google Voice (which I use for sms) and it flashes the trackpad, rather than pulses.
I've also tried Light Flow and although it pulses the trackpad and supports Voice, it doesn't change the speed of the pulse
Any suggestions?
Have you tried playing with the custom timing settings in Led me know?
If gvoice isn't supported, then perhaps it wont work....sry if it doesn't.
Well, like I said up top, it only flashes the led, instead of the pulses, regardless of any speed settings.
Plus no Google Voice in LedMe Know. Light Flow does support it (so its definately possible ), but it does not alter the pulse frequency so it doesn't add anything that stock didn't already do.
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 via telegram
Maybe you could contact the app developers and get them to add the feature(s)?
Some can be surprisingly responsive.
Good suggestion...but not quite the solution I'm looking for since LedMe flashes rather than pulses and I'd prefer if I didn't have to keep an app in memory just to change the frequency of a stock feature :/
Maybe there's a way to modify the lights.vision.so or something?
EDIT: I doubt the developer would try his hand at pulsing rather than flashing since it seems I'm just a minority who prefers the trackpad led rather than the speaker led. Also this seems like a device specific feature and the dev says in the app description: "only available at the moment for htc desire 2.2" so I doubt he has a DZ to test on... I found
EDIT2: I found exactly what I was looking for (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=5609688&postcount=25) but sadly its only for Nexus One. I'm messaging the developer to see if maybe he'd port it over...
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 via telegram
Yeah I dont know much about editing those files, but some app devs are helpful. It might actually just be a quick edit for them to gain compatibility with GVoice.
I only use LED me know to flash my trackpad light really fast, upon arrival of sms' through tmobile carrier/handcent tho.
I hope you figure something out. I would like like it to pulse fast rather then just blink.

Switch to an MIUI rom. It has the feature built in.
I appreciate pulsing the trackpad LED as well. However it's too slow a pulse at default speed, to be able to quickly peek at your phone and be able to tell if you have a message or not.
xREVOx: What exactly is this feature called? I want to look around and see if it will be included in the net CyanogenMod version.

I'm not using the MIUI rom right now, but it was called either Pulse Frequency or Pulse Delay. Default is 9 seconds. You can change it to as little as a 1 second delay.
I might have to flash it just to check it out and see how it works.
Currently I have LED me know flash my trackpad at 100 milisec. on and 100 milisec. off. Flashes fast and I notice it right away when checking for messages.
I just rather have the pulsing close to that speed.
Well I guess its nice to know that there's an actual solution... I wonder how hard it is to extract from miui rom?
I was looking around for the source of miui, but apparently its not released by their dev team...?

You could try just flashing the exact file that controls it to your phone, from the MIUI rom... not sure exactly what it is though.

I believe its in Settings? I saw a video of MIUI running on a G2 and Trackpad Settings was in the Settings menu...not sure if it contains the pulse frequency but meh. If it is, I don't think it'll be too smart to flash it but idk.

Hello people!
I have not long been using AOKP for very long, but i can say overall i love it, i have a few issues though.
I am aware of course it is a unofficial ROM and to expect it to run perfectly would be ridiculous and i was hoping if anybody had experienced anything similar and had any solutions?...
- My headphone jack has 100% stopped working since installing is ROM, i even reinstalled an old backup of MIUIv4 and it was working fine so it defiantly isn't the hardware.
- Black screen notifications, if i received an IM like whatsapp or even a SMS my led would light up and the screen backlight will turn on but its just a black screen?
- Fail to unlock screen first time around, now this doesn't happen all the time, maybe 30-40% of the time, but ill press the unlock button... the backlight will turn on but again its just a black screen, so i have to re-lock and unlock again and it will 100% work the second time... its kind of annoying.
Other than that the ROM works fine for me, i really don't want to lose the JB OS... is there a stable alternative maybe? or hopefully a simple fix.
By the way is based on their latest build.
Thanks!

thanks for that man... im gonna read a little more into but it seems like the best choice... will defiantly check it out!
UPDATE: ive given the ROM a go and i must say its a lot more stable than i thought it would be when its a "mishmash" of different ROMs put together.
i still have the headphone jack issue thought, i read a few other forums that people are experiencing using ROMs based on CM10... have you not had this issue?
I won't post the link here because I don't have permission to do so, but a couple of the developers from Cyanogenmod have been working on Alpha builds, and a new one (4.4.4) was released last night sometime. The following link is to the dev's G+ page so go ahead and find the link from there, not too hard.
https://plus.google.com/+TomMarshall/posts
Also, APN's are working along with LTE speeds, haven't tested out phone calls yet due to no vibration/sound anywhere in the device, so it's not really "usable" at this point. The newest SlimROM Gapps work just fine by the way.
Hopefully we can keep this thread as a central point for discussion since now there are multiple spread throughout the General and Q&A forums.
Are you sure there is no sound period? I thought there was sound through the earpiece just not the external speakers.

Well, even if there is, that doesn't do any good for the casual user flashing this ROM, they won't hear/feel a phone call/message if the phone is in their pocket. Even if everything besides sound/vibration is working, I still like my phone to act like a phone, you know?

That's all well and good, but I have to have a phone that notifies me of a call/text while it's sitting on my desk or in my pocket. I fully appreciate the fact this is an Alpha build and I'm not complaining in the least bit, I just can't wait until 5.0 hits the G3...or at least 4.4.4 stable with a good 5.0 theme.
If anyone is wondering this ROM is actually based off Slim as opposed to CM. It has Slims Recents, Quicktiles, Floating Window, Shake Events etc, which are all working.

This is what I don't get, given the fact that this is a PHONE, I would assume that the first thing to get working correctly would be any and everything relating to calls/texts.

I know, my whole gripe with test/alpha build is that getting the phone part of the device isn't necessarily a priority upon releasing something.

The "phone" part of the build does work correctly. The audio not working is a separate matter that has nothing to do with the "phone" part of the rom.
While audible notifications are most certainly a requirement for a daily driver, the reality is that these are alpha builds that are being worked on by a select few people. Everything will get worked out, it's just a matter of time. Been here in this very place several times with phones before the G3, unless you're in the know how, you just gotta play the waiting game

I'm not sure why you have a gripe at all? It's a very stable alpha build that is actively being worked on and provided to you for free! If you don't like the pace of development why don't you contribute? I understand that you opened this thread to discuss AOSP builds but contrary to your assertion that you are "not complaining" you've posted some inaccuracies about the 1st and only AOSP ROM and told us over and over how you need your phone to be a phone.
We get it. Go back to the LG ROMs until this one suits your needs.

I'm simply responding to people here, I pointed out what works and what doesn't work with the TWO working Alpha builds. There is a third in the works by AICP but has yet to be released. My only gripe really is for a build to be released, although a test build, without the main functionality of the device working properly...that's it.
I am on an LG ROM at the moment.
The purpose of this thread is to discuss the builds as they come out and to have a central location for all prominent links.

It looks fine, I mean I don't notice any over sharpening, but then again I don't have my face less than a few inches away from my eyes. Either way, the animation scale is set to .5 so it looks faster than it really is. Set the scales back to 1.0 and everything is really fluid with NO skipping/stuttering/whatever you want to call it.
Lack of vibration and sound across the board is really the only issue at this point. For day to day use, I mean.
Still waiting on the AICP build as that will probably incorporate the missing necessities that the other two builds are lacking.

Correct you don't get it. The source code for the ROM is already done, it already has their features. What they are doing is adding the device source and trying to get the drivers working. Its not like they think well lets go add 1% battery, its already in the source code. What they are working on is the device side not the feature side.

I'm not sure why you continue to mislead based solely on your preference. I'm on the build right now, it is easier to state what doesn't work because this build is very close to beta:
1.2 09/07 build - Not working:
External Speaker (...On the back, Headset audio and earpiece audio are working fine.)
Vibration
Cameras & rear LED
External SD Card
Bluetooth
I haven't come across anything else that isn't working. Wifi, Mobile Data, GPS, incoming/outgoing calls have worked without a hitch. Also this is AOSP so there is zero of the text sharpening that is present in the LG ROMs. I've changed the governor to interactive by default it's set to performance and the cpu does not scale which will contribute to heat reports that initially popped up.

Hey guys. Yesterday I flashed the newest CM12 update on my phone. I love it, except after I installed it, when I turn my brightness down, my screen gets a yellow tint. This was not a problem before, and when I flash back to CM11, its gone and looks fine. Anyone have this, and what should I do?
EDIT: LiveDisplay is disabled as well. I've scoured google and XDA looking for the answer but can't find anything. The screen looks great on full brightness, but once lowered by even 1%, a yellow/green tint sets in and gets worse as the brightness gets lower. There has to be a fix for this.
EDIT #2: CM fixed this issue. Thread can be closed.
You must have flashed the Chinese version of cm12.
Try flashing again.

That's a thing? I flashed CM12 for the jfltetmo from cyanogenmod.org itself. And I've reflashed multiple times now.
You may want to post in the cm12 thread, maybe someone may have found a solution to this.
Don't forget this is not official yet because official lollipop firmware for T-mobile s4 USA hasn't been released yet, so your dealing with "experimental" stuff that can make your phone weird and funky (like yellow tint) .
Pp.
Found a few articles on the CM forums of people having the exact same issue. Its from the 20150309 nightly and up. There should be a fix in the works. Thread can be closed, I guess?
No,,,,,,, you must share your results with others that are monitoring this thread, because they too have pisssy yellow phones and are to embarrassed to chime in with there own post.
You must elaborate, that's what the " forum " is all about.
Remember "nightlies" stand for " Time to experiment with your phone "
The results of this experiment was yellow screen.
Pp. Cyclops
Well, I downloaded the new nightly. I'm flashing it now. Will share results soon.
Sadly, the 20150314 nightly is still plagued by the tint. If anyone wants to avoid it, just stay on the 20150308 nightly. I'll report back when its been fixed.

Full brightness is well, anything else is accompanied with the tint.
Temporarily, I've installed xposed and am using screen filter to have complete control over not only brightness but my tint as well. So long as system brightness is maxed out, all plays nice. Still an inconvenience. Please quote me or alert me if a solution arises.

I'm confident that I got the wierd yellowish tinted color back to "stock". Here are my settings:
Adaptive Brightness: Enabled
LiveDisplay: Display mode - Automatic
LiveDisplay: Color Temperature - 6500k day/4500k night (stock, I believe)
LiveDisplay: Color Calibration - Set all colors to 55%, vs their default of 100.

Thanks, man. This works pretty well. I recommend this to everyone uotil they fix it in a future nightly.
That's awesome! Worked like a charm.
I was using GPE by dan but was having really bad battery life (couldn't even get a day without no usage at all (data turned off and screen barely used). I think this was because I was using an old bootloader/modem. Then I flashed stock NK2, but it wasn't detecting my sim card for unknown reasons. After that I flashed twrp and cm12. Sim is now working fine but was getting this horrible display. I was thinking my device got damaged somehow. Thanks for finding a fix
It looks like the 20150321 nightly fixed it. I turned my color serrins back to normal and there's no annoying yellow tint! Rejoice!
This has been fixed in the 3/21 nightly.
Edit: as gallowsarisen above me stated. Sorry didn't know there was another page in thread.
