Meh I'd hope if you're an xda frequenter you could have figured this out on your own, not sure it merits a walkthrough eh. BUT I want a MHL adapter with the option of still using the USB to go functionality of the phone. I've heard of this being their plans in the future.

Yea, I'm pretty sure I thought about all this back when the EVO 4G and Droid X came out with the built in MicroHDMI ports. Of course, back then neither device supported USB OTG, and I don't think they had great support for USB HID devices, but I'm not 100% sure. All I know is that it's taken too long for these companies to list this PC-like setup as a major feature over the iPhone, or even in general. Granted it's not practical for everyone, but for us geeks, it's certainly a viable option for an instant-on, extremely productive, lightweight, portable PC setup.
Imagine if they could set up internet cafes or or PC labs were you could just bring your compatible Android phone, and hook it up to a monitor, keyboard, and mouse, and be productive right away. For students who just need to type up a paper, browse the internet, print something, etc etc., this could be a great low cost option for both the student and the university/college/other institution. Of course it might come with tech support nightmares, but it would still be a great idea in theory.

That would require carrying around a separate device which wouldn't be useful to you outside of this setup. Most people always have their phones and most people's (high end) phones have better CPU's and GPU's than a lot of the Android-on-a-stick devices.
This is pretty cool.

no because i want the devs to see it. if we get some big names behind this im sure it could happen. even devs at precentral are onboard. webos 2.0 + the evo = WIN!
edit:too late i guess!
really? no interest at all?
If the hardware were better I would probably still be rocking webos but android is pretty good, too. Best multitasking I've seen was webos.
I would love if this happened!! I love playing with my wifes palm pre!
would love to see this on the evo
i cannot believe it but it looks like they got it booting now... can we get some evo devs to help out and port this sucker over here? ill donate heavy for this!
they said they should have a youtube video up sometime soon. i hope palm doesn't try anything now that they got it working.
seriously... no ones interested? can i get a mod to move this to the dev section please.
I for one think that webos 2.0 is kinda nice. I prefer my android but webos is cool in its own right.

Tend to ignore? In all of the 1 month and 22 posts that you have been here? That is a long history of ignoring people...
Perhaps I am mistaken, but I know that there is a guy who creates new profiles and creates crazy troll posts until he gets banned. You seemed to fit that profile. I guess we will see if you last. But the reality is, that if you want to last, you are going to have to tollerate the many many ignorant people here... because the MODs really don't do much about the real problems.
After using a Palm Pre for 2 years, and now my Epic for almost a year, there are still some things about webOS that I think are superior to Android. But it's just my opinion. I think there's room for others. =)
Since webOS is going open source, I dream of a day when all I love about webOS will be integrated into Android, and somehow Android will get some protection from all of the old Palm i.p. so that Apple will stop suing everyone. But it's just a dream.

The evo 4g was actually able to port webOS (although it was not really functional) and now that webOS is open source, it's definitely possible. Will it happen though? 99% no.

You're probably right. As much as it would be interesting to port an open source webOS to other phones, the amount of work it would take, and the lack of commercial viability would make it a most unlikely proposition. Then again, there are some formidable developers in the webOS world that may do it anyway, just for the challenge if nothing else.
I think the more likely thing is that Android will absorb some of the good things about webOS, or, at least, some of those features will become options somewhere, either in the OS or in apps. In the past, I once thought that it may be reasonable to try make webOS into an Android skin or launcher. But, without the underlying structure of Luna and the API, it wouldn't really give you any of the real benefits of webOS.
Oh well. I love my epic, and CM9 is fun to play with. I have all the apps I missed on webOS. I'm happy.

I meant in general. On the web and other forums. But its seems to me you are the one who its trolling by accusing others and instigating. Is there a reason for it? Do you have a vendetta against someone? Did you get hurt recently? Now I'm beginning to wonder if you are the general troll on this forum. Maybe someone can shed more light, is this guy a troll? Let me know since I might be wasting my time even responding to such a imbacil. Not to be harsh but I don't take kindly to idiots accusing others of false things and dragging it to arguments. Thank you if you guys warn me about this guy. Enjoy life, enjoy your day guy.

That's how I feel myself. Its very smooth and fluid. Similar how the ios runs. I think it would be pretty nice to have a port of it. But most devs have their hands full and most likely won't touch this. I'm aware of the open source nature of it, that's why I am wondering if its easier to port it.

Very much agree. Competition brings out the best. But smug Mac/iPhone users give the brand a bad name. But they do have good marketing. It would have to be to get people to overspend so much on something that is clumsy.
I like the idea of Linux as a competitor because it isn't associated with smug ass-hats, and is open-source.
As for Windows 8, I like to think of it as today's "New Coke". Almost nobody likes it, and Microsoft crammed it down our throats because they thought it's what we wanted.
But that's my very off-topic rant. Y'all have a good day!
Here's the thing. I love my Mac, but I can't stand iPhone. I also have a Windows computer, and love it too. Not all Mac users are smug, in fact I went from Windows to Mac very willingly and loved it. However, I'm also very open-minded when it comes to OS.
Also, I didn't know people didn't know you could use adb etc on Mac. Lol otherwise I would've said something a long time ago haha

Wow, didn't know this was possible, thanks!
I know LOTS of people with iPhones and Macs, and not a single one of them are smug. I think people just dislike the Apple brand sooo much, they see what they want to see about the person using any Apple devices.
Personally, I like both. However, I dislike Windows though. Be it Windows XP, 7, or 8. To me, Windows seems clumsy.
Come to think of it, I dislike Microsoft in general.
Sent from my HTC6500LVW using Tapatalk
People assume that they must pick between Apple and Google or Apple and Windows all the time. There are strengths and weaknesses for devices of both companies. For example, I use my Mac for video editing, as its software is generally much better than video editing software on Windows.
