[Q] What is your setup? - T-Mobile, Samsung Galaxy SIII

I was just wondering since we now have our own Q&A, what is everyone running? Which ROM, Kernel, custom tweaks? I only ask because I myself am running latest CM9 with Trinity Alpha 37 Kernel. It is running very smooth and have had no problems, but I find myself wanting to go back to Stock because of the little extras, ie camera. So just want to get everyons experiences. Please don't hate lol.

FreeGS3 R4 with Trinity Alpha 23.
Very snappy and smooth; however, battery life is still a struggle.

Stock, Apex Launcher. Former flash-a-holic.. if that tells you anything

See I miss Stock, but there is SO much crap running that I get lost trying to keep it under control. Would love a cleaner that actually works.

Can you post a link to the Samsung apps please? Can't find them since they separated the threads.

I'm running on cm10 and I love it!! Its just gonna get better and better.

I plan on moving to CM10 once a few issues are fixed but for now I guess I will stick with CM9. I am have no issues at all and runs smooth as butter. Battery life is amazing too. I just wish the camera app was better.

Stock. Go launcher. Thinking of flashing a kernel, Trinity to be exact. Staying stock with ROM for now.

Rooted and debloated, the stock kernel is working pretty well for me. Smooth, great battery life and all functions including camera working as they should. Why are you guys switching kernel?

I just want to!! I finally had the courage to root my phone...after years of thinking about doing it. I bricked it last week flashing a rom...stupidly. Now, I figure let me try flashing a kernel...mostly because I just want to. A little better performance is nice too.

ROM CM7.2RC directly from the cyanogenmod team

I didn't see a thread about it on here so I figured I'd start one myself. Has anyone been to www.cyanogenmod.com and downloaded the release candidate of CM7.2 yet? I have, and it's pretty sweet. My only issues thus far are the inability to flash fonts from ROM Toolbox and no video chat in Google talk (both very minor issues). Otherwise, all the goodness we've become accustomed to from CM7 is there.

What kernel are you using? I have low volume issues with aosp roms.

Aeros .8 kernel should fix that. The stock cm kernel and .7 have low call volume.

i'm running rc3 runs pretty smooth, i don't see much difference from rc2 rc1 but i've only been running it a couple days now
I'm running RC3 as well with Aero's v10 kernel. There was one small difference that I noticed, but I honestly forgot what it was. I didn't see a changelog on the CM site where I d/led it.
Is there a setting to move the cursor with the volume rocker while texting similar to CM9?
An this will be locked, since there is already a thread for this.

Stable ICS ROM

Whats the fatest and most stable ICS which has a great battery life. Tried JB roms and I think there battery life is ok not good for day to day use in my view .
Tersus Status is really good. Battery lasts crazy long and runs smooth as hell. Isn't laggy like some ics roms can be.

Re-Calk 0.2.1 seems to be a good replacement for the old Blazer Rom 0.1.5 since he stopped updating.
I suggest running the Agat 6.2 kernel with the Re-Calk, seems to be a nice combo. If you want the data speeds though, do Agat's repacked kernels.
I usually to go back to Re-calk/Blazer Rom all the time after flashing every other rom under the sun just to test drive, but like every one else said, depends on your phone, depends how you tweak your settings, and it has been discussed before.

:good: Agreed. I've tested a quite few roms and kernels since being on JB and this is the current combo I've settled on (Re-Calked 0.2.1 with Agat kernel). You'll be glad to know it's also MHL HDMI out compatible as well...
Tersus Status- It is like the calk's gb for ics.! Way to go _dan!

Introduction to the New to the Galaxy Note 2 device!! Couple questions!

So I came from the Galaxy s2 device and from there began my venture of rooting and flashing custom ROMS and kernels, on my gs2 device I was extremely fond of aosp based ROMS like CM 10 and aokp.. those ROMS were awesome on my gs2! My fiance got me the device I've been wanting for a while now, > >the note 2 << and I absolutely LOVE it! I was running stock root for a while, ,because it seemed as if the ROMS that were developed for the device did/does not push the device to its full potential, I surprisingly became a fan of touchwiz as it is the only rom Imo that gave full potential to the device, I have recently flashed My ROM v5.1 and I love, but I'd like to try a different kernel I am running persius
kernel but I think it could be a little faster! What are some good kernels out there for our device? And how long do you think it'll be before there are any rom that will really push our device to its full potential.?
Sent from my SGH-T889 using xda app-developers app
There's xone and saber kernels, I'm using frosty rom with perseus kernel right now. But i use also xone kernel. I've tried to overclock up to 2ghz but change it back to 1600ghz after a few days to extend battery life more. Jedi master is also a good rom.
POWERED by FROSTY!
Frosty ROM here also, plus xone kernel. Running good with no problems.
P.s here are my pitties

same boat as you, came from s2 camp went crazy with custom roms. stayed with mind tricks for a while.
got the note 2 and everything was just perfect, didnt feel the need to go with a different rom. just rooted it, debloated and enjoying it as is.
i don't think any rom will ever be at it's full potential. these devs are always hard at work adding new stuff and forever trying to make things better.
i also feel that no custom rom will ever be as stable as a stock carrier rom. thats just my opinion and hope i can be proved wrong one day if i decide to flash in the future
My frosty ROM has been as stable as a stock ROM, plus I get better battery life with the custom kernels

I believe xone can be used on any as long as its a touch wiz ROM. I haven't tried aos/kp on my note 2, already running that on my nexus 4.

There aren't to many TouchWiz ROMs still being updated. ReCalked, JellyVerse, and Project X are still supported.

Im using Revolt, it works smoothly and has lots of features.
Im using ProjectX at the moment, but Im not sure how long ill stick with it. Battery use is horrible for some reason. I can go from ful charge to 70% battery life in less than an hour.

I get most of the day easy... It's most likely one of your apps running in the background constantly. Better Battery Stats will help you with wakelocks. This is today which is actually a bad day for my battery. Your battery also may be getting old. This is SenseWiz but it has pretty much the same tweaks as Project X.
Mokee 4.2.2 hope to upgrade to 4.3 but been too busy today
At the moment I'm using sensewiz..which is a nice mashup with gravy on side with great battery life

[Q] TW Roms

I hate asking about ROMs.....but......I've been running the latest (last) version of MacksRom since it was released. My question is, without reading through all the ROM offerings, are there any other TW based ROMs?
Macks has been very solid and I've flashed a couple others...but always keep coming back to Macks. Really like some of the features in TW and would like to find another.
Thanks,
Coz
Yes, I'm running digiblur's 4.1.2 with Perseus kernel and am loving it. It's basically a completely de-bloated stock rom and it is rock solid.
There is a complete rom list thread in either the development or general forums. It lists each available rom and categorizes them by AOSP or TW.

Yea I've tried em all ,and IMHO josh beach's jellybombed is TW best ROM.
But if you want 4.3.1 goodness then CM 10.2 and CarbonRom are solid.

just my opinion though.
