I hear that LG1 update has removed universal phone search and that is keeping me to upgrade it to LG1.
Can someone please direct me to changelog between LEM (came with the phone) and the new LG1 update? Is it worth upgrading to LG1 at a cost of losing universal phone search?
I answered a similar question here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=29328313&postcount=3
If you do decide to install LG1 you can easily download and install the old search apk and get the full phone search function back.

I have a Sprint GS3, rooted with the latest OTA update.
I read that Apple is fighting Samsung, and the update made
my search not work as good? What am I missing now?
I heard local searching, does that mean based off my GPS
location and google, or local content folders? I also read
you could re-flash or side load the feature back in. If I should
flash these features back, is there a link to a zip I can just
flash from clockwork? Any explanation of all this would be
appreciated, and I am in the USA.

No need to unroot, just wait for the rooted version of the ROM and flash that The rooted version of stock ROM is usually out the same day or a few days after the official realease.
If you update to L710VPLI3 using a rooted ROM do you also need to separately update the radios. Always been a bit confused with radios vs. software ROM. Does enhance LTE (which I use daily) come from software update or radio update.

You usually have to flash modems (aka radios) separatly, depends on the dev. Well, only saw one dev include it but he created a separate tool to flash modems that is linked below.
Seems that modems were not updated in this release and the LTE optimization is more a software fix. You find the latest modems here and here is the easiest way to flash without Odin.

So I gather that if I just flash any ROM that is based on new LI3 then I will have the upgrade enhancement regarding LTE. Great. I hate having to unroot or reflash stock recovery to take OTA. Thanks.

I don't see that there's even an update.zip that's been released. I wouldn't jump to conclusions just yet, might still be a modem update.

i havent recieved this yet its an ota update right? if i can get it soon ill pull the rom and upload a rooted version but still not recieved it =(
get ready to have all the bloatware re installed.
my gf has the epic 4g touch. it was stock rooted and the very last update a few days ago re installed all bloatware and went further ahead by disabling the option to disable some of the apps that previously could be uninstalled through application manager. also it took away root so i had to stock re root her phone.
if updates were just performance enhancements i would welcome them but, why do carriers always insist on pushing their crap into our phones??
So this is a update from LG8 or what ever

Yes LG8 to LI3 a ics rom not jellybean
I have a Galaxy Nexus with 4.0.4 i am checking every day for an update but nothing there yet, i don't want to flash my nexi with rom i want the custom version. Did anybody get the OTA in the i9250xxla2 Nexus, ore is there any way to install the custom jelly bean in the phone without rom-s and get the stock version.
Try the clean google services trick in app -> all clear the data ?
Also tell us what is the version of the ROM there was an app nexus checker or something similar (GN Official Update Checker).
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1419170 - here you can see if there is a link then there has been a OTA.

You don't have a 'yakju' phone, you have 'yakjujp' - and they've not pushed the JB update yet. You can flash the stock image, though, by using one of the numerous threads on here already

Actually I can't. That thread requires you to have a certain post count before you can post into it.

No matter what Android version this phone gets updated to, unless the bootloader is locked and no longer allows us to flash custom recoveries, root methods will continue to work.
We don't need to look for exploits in order to root the GS3.
Cmon dude, you shouldve searched because this is probably the 4th / 5th thread asking this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2169599
If you're rooted, you can just flash a 4.1.2 rom and update your modem to the 4.1.2 modem by grabbing it from freezas stock rom thread, thats pretty essentially all that changed

I did search and I came across this thread already (as well as a few others). However all were posted before the 4.1.2 update was released OTA so I was not sure. I had a few android devices before and each needed an exploit or tool that varied based on what Android version you had (i.e-unrevoked for evo4g on 2.3.4 that did not work on 2.3.5). My GS3 is still unrooted so I can't just flash the rom. I was asking if I can still root using the posted method on 4.1.2 since I did not come across any posts with that question and this is the first device I have had that does not require an OS based exploit to root it.

Ok ok, wasn't trying to come off in the way you interpreted it. But now you know, and Samsung devices in general are super easy to root
And also, the MB1 update that they talk about in that thread is the latest 4.1.2 OTA, so idk what you're talking about
Updates are referenced by the build number, hence LJ7 being 4.1.1, MA6 was the first 4.1.2, and MB1 was the second 4.1.2 OTA
yes it works
i can confirm for you that yes it works. i did it today.
I JUST got this update too
Thanks a lot. Sorry it took me so long to reply
Last night I got an update for my T-Mobile S3 runnnig 4.1.1. At first I thought I got the 4.1.2 update but when it was all set and done, it was still running 4.1.1. So, that was depressing. I had rooted the phone but kept touch-wiz for unknown reasons. I have no idea what the update did but I did loose root. Does anybody know what the update was?
P.S. If this has been asked then just redirect me to that thread...and I will delete this.
Check this thread. . http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2201456
More than likely you are getting updated from uvdlja to uvdljc. It's small update to enhance security and some small things. .
Edit: if you cannot find your thread in general section anymore, probably in the Q&A.
