Hey, I have been using HOX for a month now and noticed an unique problem.
I noticed that my phone behaves as if it doesn't have data connection even if the 3g icon is present in the status bar. No data transfer takes place even if the icon exists. Here the only option left is to restart the phone to resume data...
They typically occurs every 2 days post restart. Has anyone noticed this?

Yep, I get it too. You on Orange UK?

Think a 1.29.401.12 update is coming out to fix this issue.

It's been appearing on Nordic countries for about a week.
I have had the same problem, after all the ROMs I've tried, after using CM10 yesterday, it was like I have a LAN connection even faster than the first time I got the phone...

Yes I have this too. Seems to only be resolved via reboot. Airplane mode on off has no effect.

Hi, I'm on orange UK too and suffer from this problem but not all the time. Though when it happens, as already stated, airplane mode on/off doesn't work. Requires a full reboot to get data connection back.

I seem to get this on Vodafone UK too, but it only seems to happen if I travel a significant distance (a long distance train journey for example). I data roamed in Europe for two weeks this month and didn't see the problem a single time. Only a reboot fixes the problem - I've tried airplane mode to reset it but it still doesn't work.

Same here in Czech rep. (Vodafone)

This problem has consistently cropped up with I was using a Battery saver app (easy battery saver, or juice defender, or...). Basically, when the data connection is controlled by the battery saver apps, the connection shows a 3G or H but no data transfer happens.
Either remove the battery saver app or don't allow it to control the data connection and this problem should not crop up again. I tested this against easy battery saver and juice defender and a another battery app (don't remember which), and on 3G as well as LAN.
Don't know if this helps in anyway or means anything, but that was happening to me with a T-Mobile unlocked Sensation while I was overseas just a week ago in Lebanon and France. Have not had the issue in the US w/ the HOX or Sensation
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
I've got the same issue. The connection dropped while using Facebook. It happens every two days. I'm on the Dutch Vodafone network. Only a reboot fixes the issue, airplane mode doesn't. It's getting really annoying....
Try the new 1.29.401.12 RUU if your phone is unbranded. That should help data issues.

Will this version be available OTA?
I find that with android phones, mobile data and MMS never work 100% unless using Cyanogenmod carrier APNs from here . Before using those APNs on my One X, i would randomly get my mobile data disconnecting (no signal at all) for split seconds at a time and MMS wouldn't send either.
Mobile data was also slower than it was on my Desire Z which used Cyanogenmod's APNs. Mobile data was then much faster on my One X after i corrected the APNs to the ones on that Cyanogenmod link and then MMSs started sending again. Also funnily enough, before my Desire Z used Cyanogenmod's APNs, it couldn't send MMSs either and its mobile data speeds were also very slow and inconsistent xD.
I think every android user needs to bookmark that link and then use those APNs each time they flash a new ROM as they are bulletproof. Hear me out on this one. I have tried the APNs from my carriers over the years several times and they never work as good or as correctly as the Cyanogenmod ones do. I don't know if it's just like this for me here in Australia, but i'd highly recommend using the APNs on that link anyway.

It should come to the UK eventually. It has been released as an OTA in Nordic countries.
Even i thought it was due to juice defender..so i stopped using it...but the issue still persisted!

What amount of time are we talking? Mine takes probably 10 seconds or so, which is a really long time for something loading (even though it may not sound like it when typing here).
I would say almost a minute
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
about 6 - 10 sec is avrg... 1 min ?? i would check my data info to make sure ur phones on the up and up
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA Premium App
would it be caused by slow network? I usually get that problem when I'm in such GPRS or jamed 3G network
I'm not really sure because I don't have a data plan on my HTC G2. I just use wifi the whole time.
And it really takes about a minute to load.
I don't think itss because its the slow connection, it has to be something else.
Any suggestions on what I should do?

I assume your Desire is completely stock? If so, might be a service provider issue rather than a software/hardware issue

Hey everyone,
I have a problem with my Internet, it keeps changing from "H" to "3G" and back, when it's on 3g the internet isn't working, and then i have delays and disconnections while sendind/receiving msg (e.g. whatsapp) and games..
I am in israel using orange partner.
Is there a way to lock my phone to "H"?
And can someone explain to me what does it stand for those letters?
Thanks.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
Yeah go to Settings > mobile network > network mode > wcdma only , this means 3g network only , now when i use this instead *gsm . wcdma prefered* my phone never goes to 3g always stays at H. Hope it does the same for you.
Thanks. I'm giving it a go, will let you know how it works.

Nope, still alternating..
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
No one else have any idea how to solve this? How come when in 3G the Internet stop responding and if it works good on "H" why does it change from it? This is so frustrating!

Hi, after 4.4.3 update i have a problem with my wifi, once enabled it is fast but after a while it becomes slow, very slow... Signal is at maximum but it keeps uploading and downloading in vain, i tried many options in the wifi advanced menu but it didn't work, i must switch wifi off/on to solve the problem.
I am on stock rooted rom, i am going to downgrade the firmware because it worked very well on last version, do you have any suggestions ?
Thx for your help.
PS : I tested with different routers.

How did you update, by OTA?
If not a "clean" install (wipe user data) I would suggest doing a factory reset. Random bugs after an OTA are often (although not always) caused by incompatibity with some pre-existing user data, and frequently resolved by wiping data.
Otherwise, downgrading firmware might help as you mentioned (as WiFi module is usually one of the firmware updates). Although this might cause other issues (slow boot, broken WiFi or Bluetooth).
First time i had the problem with ota update, then i did a factory reset and wiped everything issue persists.
I found on the Internet that nexus users have the same problem.
I think that downgrading the firmware is the only solution for me now but it is strange that i am the only one who is facing this issue on HTC M8.

I would not take a different phone having a similar issue to mean anything.
You haven't stated what version, CID, etc. you have. Each carrier version has its own software version, so possibly there is a bug in your carrier software/firmware. On the other hand, if its a common CID on here and other have not had the issue, then something else is going on.

That is probably the most common software version here. As it doesn't seem to be a widespread issue, I think something else is going on. Maybe try to re-install the OTA as maybe it was just a bad install? Or try a 2.22 based custom ROM to see if the problem persists? I'm just brainstorming a bit here.
I tested the Venom ROMs, with 1.8.0 and last firmware no problem, with 2.0 and 2.22 firmware i have the issue
Thx for your help anyway.

Thank you for your quick answer.
What do you mean by wifi repeater?
It takes the existing wifi and rebroadcasts it to have a better signal.
Just noticed this. Mobile data still shows while on WiFi or turned off. I've rebooted a couple of times (even turned off mobile data, then restart, still shows) but it won't go away. No a huge deal... Just not right and bothers me.

That's strange, mine would only show Wi-Fi when it was on the 4g would only show while using data.
same here, if I believe the Verizon GS5 forums, same happened to them when Volte was pushed on their phones...

I have the same issue and a buddy of mine has the same issue also. I went to the TMO store to check their display phone which was already updated to 4.4.4 and that also has the same issue. So it's definitely a software bug since it was not doing this on 4.4.3. Basically when turning on wifi your mobile data should automatically turn off, it's not doing this on 4.4.4 and thus your battery drains faster since both are on, you have to manually turn off data. And when you do turn off data, the icon still remains even though it's not active. Only airplane mode would get rid of the data icon.
Seems like they're issues relating to calling and the camera also, though I haven't been able to test these myself. But overall I'd say 4.4.4 is a buggy release, battery drains a little quicker too.

I have the same problem, fully stock, never rooted. I did wipe the cache partition but that didn't make any difference. I would be curious to see if it persists after a full wipe but I don't really want to do that to mine at the moment.

Yeah don't waste your time with a factory reset, I did this 2 times before I called a buddy of mine and also checked the display phone at the store. Its a software bug and everything I tried has had no effect, problem still present. Hopefully HTC releases a patch soon to fix this because data is constantly on, it does not sleep. The battery definitely drains a little quicker.
Weird, I don't seem to have this issue. Running latest OTA, stock with root.

I too have been having a lot of trouble with this update. Four or five of my programs that would work over 4G now only work when I'm connected to WiFi. I'm still able to watch Youtube and surf the web, but it's extremely aggravating not being able to play my games while I'm on the train to work. I wonder if it has to do with the radio update they pushed with the 4.4.4 release.
