I am about to sell my atrix 4g and upgrade to a Galaxy S3 with AT&T (one week till I'm eligible). I currently have the OEM motorola car dock sitting on a Pro-Clip vehicle mount using a ball meant for the garmin nuvi (luckily the moto swivel uses the same size ball as the garmin). I LOVE the nice finished look of the install and I won't go without a car dock again.
I see that Samsung has not released a car dock for the S3 yet. I'm aware the dock for the infuse fits close enough, but I can't seem to figure out how to bypass the suction cup/arm and mount just the swivel+phone holder on my proclip mount on the dash. This leads me to an all Brodit/Pro-Clip solution...
Brodit makes a couple different holders for the Galaxy S3, however the one with the hard wired 2a charger (model 513398) says it is compatible with the i9300 ONLY and not any of the US versions. Any ideas why this is? I don't want to have to put the phone in a holder and then plug in wires to it, I would really prefer an all in one solution.
Apprehension about this car dock setup has me considering the moto Atrix HD, but I really want to get back to the open-ness of a samsung platform (had the Captivate before my current phone). I am content with giving up the lapdock, but won't give up a car dock. Thanks in advance for any guidance!
*cliff notes* Why does the Brodit 513398 mount for the Galaxy S3 with 2a charger say it is for the i9300 only and not the US S3? Alternately any ideas on how to remove the suction cup and arm from the Infuse car dock and mount just the phone holder and swivel mechanism onto my pro-clip dash mount?
It will work. All S3's no matter what the model number have the same body design.

I figured the fit wouldn't be an issue, but what about the power supply? Do all S3's have the same input tolerances? I'd hate to put 2 amps into the charging port only to fry a circuit in the phone...
There's gotta be a reason Brodit/Proclipusa list it as i9300 only, otherwise why not go for more sales? It is almost 2x the price of the non-powered holder. Reading another thread on XDA it looks like the phone itself has smart circuitry to adapt to different input currents and prevent overcurrent charging, so hopefully it will work.
I might just have to bite the bullet and buy one and then report back with my findings.
The way power supplys work is I could get a 1000000billion amp plug and the power should not be fryed *same thing for computer PSUs* they only pull what they need *or in charging case they only pull what the max they were made for*
A 2amp charger will charge your GS3 much faster then the .25 amp crap AC charger that comes with the GS3. *My GS3 charges full in about an hour or so with my 2 amp charger*
The charger I use by the way is this: http://www.monoprice.com/products/p...=10851&cs_id=1085102&p_id=8856&seq=1&format=2
One of the ports *it is labeled* is a 2 amp port and that is what charges my phone so fast. The rest are normal lower wattage AC USB ports.
A good option if you just want a small form factor single port one is a the HP TouchPad USB power charger, it is 2amp as well and is only $5 *also super small form factor*

Well I just got an email back from ProClipUSA (less than 10 minute turn around time!):
Hi XXXXXXXXX,
Thank you for your interest in our ProClip Holders. At this time we do not have a Charging Holder/Dock for the Samsung Galaxy S III (AT&T SGH-i747, Verizon SCH-i535, Sprint SPH-L710, T-Mobile USA SGH-T999). We already have determined that the American version of the Galaxy S III’s are slightly thicker due to the LTE Radio Stack. We have tested our current holder and only our non-charging holders will currently work with the US versions of the Samsung Galaxy S III.
We DO anticipate making the Charging holders for the US Carrier versions, however due to the large number of new products we are developing, we cannot give a specific date as to when this will be available. We will get these devices as soon as they come available and adjust our charging holders and have new product numbers for these devices.
We expect this device to be available within the next 1 to 3 weeks.
We will notify you by e-mail as soon as the Holder for your specific Samsung Galaxy S III has been received at our warehouse and is ready for online ordering.
Best Regards,
Gregg Pokey

i've read over lots of threads today and some are outdated or just scattered with links here and there of accessories.
i would like some help to come up with the best accessories that i will buy for myself on christmas day or ones i might want down the line.
SO PLEASE HELP (with links to actual products...amazon preferred):
Case/cover/stand
Charging/Multimedia Dock
Adapters
Extra Cables
Keyboard Dock or Bluetooth Keyboard
Anything else i should look for...
i hand out THANKS to anyone who helps make this a complete and up to date list with all the latest and greatest for the SGT 10.1
You will probably get a lot of different opinions on this one. Most will likely be correct since there is no absolute right answer. I am a new user as well so I can share with you what I have or plan to get.
My Tab came with the Samsung pouch case which is fine but a bit inconvenient. Where do you put it when you pull the Tab out for use. I picked up one of the clip-style cases on eBay. It is very lightweight and functional.
I am going to gamble that Gorilla Glass is as tough as they say and not get a screen cover. I have, however applied a coat of Rain-X to help minimize the accumulation of fingerprints.
My device also came with the Samsung keyboard dock. This is a very nice device but not something you will probably take on the road. If you want a traveling keyboard, you might want to look into one of the integrated keyboard cases. Just remember, one of the great aspects to tablets is their light weight. Adding the mobile keyboard will double the weight.
I am still shopping for a do-it-all adapter cable. One day all tablets will come with USB, HDMI and card readers built in. I expect that I will need or want all of those connection options but right now, it does not appear that there is a plug-adaptor that offers all of those functions. The minimalist way to go is to get a USB cable or dongle which will allow you to plug in a variety of things. There is an interesting looking hub adapter on eBay that includes and SD reader and three USB ports. I have not yet heard reports from any actual users but for less $14 it might be worth giving it a try.
HDMI connectors remain elusive. The only ones that I have found so far require a 110V power connection in order to work. I am sure something will show up down the road.
One annoying thing about the Tab is the high amperage requirement for charging. Most car chargers put out far less than the 2A minimum that this device needs. USB ports on most computers are also underpowered for the Tab. If you travel, you will need a car charger. Just make sure that it will push enough current to charge your Tab.
If you are like me, the most important stuff that you will add to your new Tab will be Apps. There are many thousands of apps out there. Most seem to be games or less-than-useful apps that are not worth your time. There are, however a number of really useful apps out there that you will want to check out. Search this forum and others for opinions on that subject.
Hopefully you will find my observations helpful.
Bob
Hmm...there aren't a lot of them
Today I just bought the Samsung Galaxytab 10.1 USB adapter at Bestbuy for $19.99. At first I thought it was only for connecting a USB thumb drive but I found later it can be used for much more. In fact I tried using a Logitech Wireless Keyboard and Mouse Unifying adapter. It works flawless, in fact the response of the keyboard was spot on, if the unifying wireless adapter works I'm sure the mouse would too. The USB thumb drive works like a charm as well. I also bought the Dock for the Tab, Bestbuy doesn't sell the one with the HDMI output but does sell this one with the 3.5mm Lineout for audio and charging adapter at the back. The dock is connected to the 30pin adapter and can be charged and also have the USB dongle attached at the back for convenience. Bestbuy also has the Targus leather case stand for it, it's fairly thick material with a nice leather like microfiber interior to help in protecting the tab from scratches, it also doubles as a nice stand with three positions. All three products for just under 100 bucks. By the way the Dock was 34.99 and the case I believe was 39.99.
thanks for the replies. still looking for more help/links.
very good info though
i've also seen 2 different "OEM" USB connectors
EPL-1PL0BEGSTA & EPL-1PL0BEGXAR, what's the diff?
which is newer/better?

One drawback... you cannot charge the Tab when using the adapters.
Just got 'DigitalsOnDemand 15-Item Accessory Bundle for New Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 Wi-Fi / 3G 4G LTE 16GB 32GB'
Includes: DigitalsOnDemand Black TPU Skin Case, Crystal Clear Case, Premium DigitalsOnDemand Leather Case with Kick Stand, Screen Protector, Adjustable Reading Book Light, Earphones with mic, Earphone Splitter, AUX Cable, Wall Charger Adapter, Car Charger Adapter, USB Sync Cable, Retractable USB Data Cable, Fishbone, DigitalsOnDemand Drawstring Travel Pouch, Black Stylus Pen
Cables, earphones and adapters work fine. I honestly bought the bundle just for the extra cables and adapters, so was pleasantly surprised that the cases look all fine. Loved the leather case (not used the other two till now). The stylus is nothing great, but is a nice extra in the package. Have not tried the screen protector as I feel there is no need for it. All in all an excellent buy for just below $60.
The USB adapter came free with my tab. So check before you by one.
I forgot to mention that I also ordered 'New Trent iGeek IMP99D 9900mAh External Battery Pack Dual USB ports' I got it on cyber Monday for $40.95 now it's $61.95 (still down from list price of $ 129.95). The battery is compatible with Tablet PCs with 5V/2A input (Ipad 2, Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, HTC flyer). This will take care of battery issues in my mobile devices. The product name includes the amazon link and here is their own website http://www.newtrent.com
It's still with a friend of mine in US, so will get it only next month. Will give a full review once I receive it in India. However I am already happy with recommending them, as the customer service is out of this world. There were some problems with the order by credit card. They immediately contacted me. The owner self spoke with me and immediately solved all issues.
thanks a bunch. i will check to see what all is included before i buy anything extra...also i have thought of buying one of those battery packs before, but never pulled the trigger due to price and not the greatest reviews on some of them....some say they work great at first, then dont hold a charge or explode or whatever.
I had similar concerns, as I read some very negative reviews on some external battery packs. I bought this model, because I read very good reviews about this company and got it for an very enticing US$ 40.95. The website also specially mentioned that it is compatible with Tablet PCs (iPad 2, SamSung Tab 10.1, and HTC flyer) and it weighs only 250g. The 11000 mAh would have been 285g.
It includes
IMP99D external battery pack (9900mAh)
USB cable for charging Cell phone device
One USB cable for charging Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1
MiniUSB adapter for Blackberry
MicroUSB adapter for Blackberry and HTC Androd, Moto Droid
AC Wall Outlet plug with voltage range 100V-240V suitable for worldwide travelers
English user manual
here is a short review I found for the battery pack I purchased

i've bought only 3 things so far.

the USB & SD Card adapters

The car dock (second link) is the same one that's been on Samsung's website for a while:
http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/cell-phones-accessories/ECS-K1F8BEGSTA
It DOES NOT have the pins for use on the side of the Nexus.
I'm looking for one that does have the pins so I don't have to unplug everything when I want to take the phone in and out of the dock.
The description for the car dock says you can plug your car charger directly to the mount. I'm so confused. I just want the pins...
Honestly I'd be happy just to use the desktop dock in my car. Double sided Velcro and stick it right to my dash. It's what I do with the car dock anyways (using the disk thing it comes with) and there's no annoying suction cup to worry about when the temperature drops. Plus it's lower profile and much easier to drop the phone in and out of. Especially when the suction doesn't want to play along.
I posted this mainly because I hadn't seen the multimedia dock available yet anywhere else, I just included the car dock link in case someone wanted both.
Seriously? $64.95 for a piece of plastic with USB headphone jacks wired to the prongs. Did Samsung subcontract this out to Monster Cables? Nice to be able to insert/remove phone wihout plugging/unplugging, but pricing is obscene.
Yes I made a thread asking about this about a week ago about a 3 pin charging cradle. Its finally coming out! .....and then I seen the price of the damn thing -.-

and why would you say its the old crappy version? just the price? the picture and discrption are of the good one. part number is even different although that could be their internal cataloging number. still no evidence of this being the old verizon model.
as for the price on the desktop dock, i'm assuming it has to do with the internals. has an hdmi output while only physicly connecting to the phone via 3-prong connector. supposedly the car dock sends audio to the mount via bluetooth and the mount is able to give you the aux output line from there. wondering if it is sending data to the home version the same way.
Well I know its no iPhone 4s in terms of volume, but how hard would it be to be for an aftermarket company to make a car cradle that works with pogo connectors? All you have to do is have raised spring loaded prongs so that it would work with a tpu case.

The Galaxy tab does not support Qi charging built in. To only way to support wireless charging would be to add a universal micro USB Qi receiver such as the one in the link below. However based on the size of the tablet, not sure if this would even work well due to the position of where the receiver would sit in comparison to the charger. Personally, don't think it's worth it on this tablet.
http://www.amazon.com/Universal-Wireless-Charging-Micro-USB-narrow-interface/dp/B00JQ4YWVE/ref=sr_1_12?ie=UTF8&qid=1420055644&sr=8-12&keywords=usb+qi+receiver
There is a reason, which is to reduce the wear and the chance of breaking the usb port. 2 different phones I was able to keep using for a year after the usb port broke because I had hacked in the receiver from the Palm Pre. There was no way (for me, without more exotic equipment than a fine tip soldering pen) to re-solder the usb port. Too much stuff crowded around it and it was surface mount. But I could get 2 wires on to the ground and +5v easy.
Warranty isn't an option unless you never rooted, so that leaves having to be very careful never to break this weak point for the next 5 years.
Myself, I can't see sticking that thing on mine either, I'm just saying that there are reasons one might want to and it's not automatically ridiculous or pointless.

Don't get me wrong, I love wireless charging and have been using it for a couple of years now on my phones. I also thought about it for my LG G Pad 8.3 tablet. However don't think its a good option for the 10.5. Reason is as I mentioned, positioning. Most chargers are small. Positioning the tab on it may prove to be challenging due to sign. I think it would end up leaning off to one side and not being able to get in a good position. Thus would be frustrating. I think the 8.4 would stand a better chance but not the 10.5. Just my opinion anyway.
Sent from my LG-V500 using XDA Premium HD app
You could probably just put the charger on the tablet in that case. It's also perfectly possible to make your own tray that has the charger embedded in it.
For devices too large for the charger. Cut a piece of cork(same thickness of the charger) to the size of the largest device that needs charging. Cut out a hole to imbed the charger into the cork. Cut out a hole in the end of the cork for the charger power cord. The end result is the charger and the cork will provide a nice flush surface to charge any size tablet.
An easier way to charge tablets is to lay the tablet face down and set the charger upside down on the bottom of the tablet.
QI is designed for phone
Guys,
Ive been charging my tab (had a couple.. current one is Samsung Tab A) for years.
I simply buy a charging receiver with a USB connection. Plug it in, tape it onto the back and away you go...BUT...
USB charging receivers are designed for phones. 2000, 3000mah batteries so a charging input of 1000mah is ok. The tab battery is 6000 so a 1000 charger is Slooow
Most USB (wall) chargers are 1000mah and/or 2500mah.
wish someone would make a 2500 qi qharging receiver.... then life would be much better.
Even thought of updating my tab so I have faster CPU and USb type C connection... problem is QI for USB-C is also only 1000mah... WHY???
Faster charging would be much better
GRI2A
Is there a fast (qi fast) charger for the car with decent retention? I really...really need one haha
Not cheap anymore, but the Samsung one is the best I have found. I have 4 of them in my fleet. Only thing is I recommend a 90 degree down bend micro USB cable for neater appearance.

I believe both the S6 and S7 have in settings a check box to enable or disable fast charging. But does Android actually have a way of telling anyone when it is actually fast charging verses not fast charging? I never seen any messages like that. I have the other Samsung Qi charging pads - the one that is flat and the newer one that is a stand and never seen any messages indicating they fast charge. And even when I plug it in to the stock USB charger there is no indication it is fast charging. So how does one actually tell?

Interesting, I bought that a while back and it didn't fast charge my Note 5 so I returned it. Plus the back doesn't support my setup so I didn't wait to test on the S8+.
Just used it last week. Gave the notification it was fast charging, and the time till full. Seemed to work great for me. Only problem I have is the vent clip doesn't work on the vents in my jeep.
That would be specific to the vehicle though

My S8 Plus arrived today. The charger I recommended above does NOT provide any messages that it is fast charging but I was not using a factory Samsung charger. I switched it to a factory Samsung charger, but still the same. The cord I have to use not factory either because the factory one is too short and I have heard sometime those can cause the fast charging not to work. Seems pretty slow charging so whatever I have setup here is not fast charging capable it seems. So YMMV.
Easiest thing s do what I did. Find a Radio Shack going out of business, get a disc style charger and a Samsung fast car charger, gut the disc, cut it down and install it somewhere under a cubby hole or console. I did it in my Mercedes, first in the cubby hole under the stereo in a single DIN arrangement, then moved it to the arm rest in the console running a cable off the cigarette lighter. Car chargers aren't easy to find for Qi, so i got inventive and made my own.
I haven't been able to find a single car charger worth a damn, including the 80 dollar samsung. I'm thinking of the charging pad mounted in my console as well. Ugh wish someone would make a decent car charger that's wireless

Like stated before, this one is fairly cheap for what it is. You get two style of mounts. If you have a jeep like me, you will probably have to use the window mount. When I used my rental last week which was a Nissan sentra the vent mount worked great.
It definitely does fast wireless charging as long as you use a compatible charge input. My radio didn't have enough output and did regular speed wireless charging. Used the cigarette charger output that came with it and tada fast wireless charging. As the pics show on my Verizon s8 plus
Pics of fast wireless charging
Any Qualcomm 2.0 adaptive fast charge works
Idk about it doing quick charge I'll check into it, but I've had this for 2 years in my car.

I got this one yesterday. How can I prove or disprove that it is truly a fast charging wireless device? Should I let my phone get down to a really low percentage (and what would that be)? I'm happy with the setup. Long micro USB cord, both dash and vent mount (I'm using the vent mount, works fine in my Sienna). Even though I've only have it a day, it did top up my phone from 92% to 100% in a 5 minute drive.
Update May 8: when I put the phone in the charger it briefly indicates on the the screen that it is Fast Charging.
I'm really satisfied with this setup.

I ordered this one today. I was looking for one that went in the vent and noticed it comes with a bracket for this. I went with the $40 3 coil version (probably over kill) but I was either paying $5 for one day prime shipping on the $30 one or pay $40 with free one day shipping for the "better" version. Figured $5 extra for the next level one wasn't going to kill me. I previously used the Scoche magnetic vent dock but it interferes with my wireless charging at home. Once I decided I needed a new dock for the car, I figured I'd go with a wireless charger to get the job done. Love that it also comes with the clips to organize the wire clutter a bit too.

What VPA/Car charger do you guys recommend for the Note 10?
Thanks
Bump
yeah I'm looking for a good one that will charge like the 45watt wall charger. does something like that exist?
What about this?
I bought one of these last winter for my note 8. Shouldn't it work well?

I'm probably not the only person who traded in their Google pixel for this phone. I have the Belkin recommended 15 watt charger from my pixel days, I'm assuming that would give a underwhelming performance.
Belkin USB-C Car Charger with Hardwired USB-C Cable (4ft/1.2m / 15 Watt) for Samsung Galaxy S10, S10+, S10e, Google Pixel 3, Nintendo Switch and More https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01GUVNHY8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apap_tIW8gXnwDmzNP
Fast car charger
I purchased the Vanmass from Amazon... when I purchased it, it was about $39, which is a little pricey, but it works great!
It's two side arms automatically close when you press your Note 10 or Note 10+ against the back of the charger. Charger attaches securely to your air vents, so there's no need to use suction cups. It also has two clear legs which support your phone, and they display red lighting when you first insert your phone, and the lighting changes to blue when it begins to charge, making it very easy to quickly see if your phone is being charged or not!
The mount also has a built in battery, so unlike some other "automatic close/open" car mounts, this one doesn't stop working when you shut your car off! It charges the battery inside the phone mount, so even if you turn your car off before removing your phone, you can still tap one of the two buttons on either side of the car mount, and the plastic side grips will automatically open for you, to make removing of your phone a breeze!
Well built, quality...
One negative... it doesn't come with a car charger that goes in the cig lighter, so you'll need to pick up a fast charger as well... I found one for about $8.
What about:

The updated Vanmass car charger comes with the lighter adapter and after the 30% coupon, it came to $42
Doesn't the Note10+ support PD3.0 up to 25W(45 with PPS enabled devices)?
