Omg the aluminum backplate is came off - Sony Xperia S, Acro S, Ion

The title says it all. I left my phone on the counter for an hour and when I came back it was on the floor with the back completely off. It was a frightening moment . But I was able to snap it back on.

Not a good sign for Build quality... what was underneath?

See any test points?

My concern is the missing 5 screws that hold your backing plate on. I've removed mine already...first day. If your backplate just fell off, your have serious warranty and build issues. I posted a thread in the general section with pictures.

Yeah, screws just don't generally fall out, esp with covers on and the top and bottom guards on.

I am going to assume you checked the obvious of a loose battery. Does it vibrate and go off or when you shake it the power goes off?
I believe this would be hardware not software. You can check by flashing a known good Rom. But first check the contact points on your battery. Rub them clean, and make sure they are "springy"
I check the battery and it fits well but it is one of those monster batteries so it could fit loose in there..it does just shut down not a power cycle... thanks kenny guess ill have to go back to stock batt

Exacty Brooklyn, that's what I had to do with my extended battery. It would shut off when I closed the keyboard to hard. A thin piece of cardboard fixed that.

I had to do the exact same thing. anytime I slammed my KB shut the phone would power off.
I just put a matchbook cover on top of the battery and the issue was resolved
I had to do the same thing... you think they would test these batteries a little better before public release.
which exteded battery do you have my gorilla gadgets did that switched to the hyperion doesnt do it anymore.
Yes. Loose battery. Only happens when you buy those cheap ginormous batteries. Careful, I had a friend that lost a left nut when that thing overheated and exploded. I kid you not!

Accelerometer work's intermittently?

Hey guys I spilled some apple juice on my phone (I know I'm pissed to) but now my accelerometer works sometimes like ill boot the phone and it will work fine then nothing from another reboot. Its weird. Any ideas?

I already tried they wont let me. but something else that's weird, I thought maybe restoring back to stock might work if its something software related to I tried restoring to zv7 with the link in the IRC using lgnpst and lgnpst is not flashing the bootloader or anything for that matter. any ideas why? I can get the phone in download mode and lgnpst does its regular thing, the phone reboots at 67% like normal, then it sits at the 4g LTE logo on the boot animation until it overheats and shuts off. I tried getting into the bootloader and it will not show it. if I hold vol up+vol down+power, it just goes straight to the boot animation from a cold start.

Scuff on the s4 home screen buttone out of the box?

Am I the only one whos noticed a little scuff on the bezzle around the home button? It was there the first day I got it. i always wait until the remorse period is over to root. Just in case. It usually takes that long for stock firmware to show up anyways.
I Odin'd MDL back and everything went back to stock. I got my warranty back and they exchanged it. Actually the girl didn't even check anything I just told her I had overheating problems, the screen had smearing issues in the settings when brightness was low and that it wasnt reading my micro SD card although I know its not the s4.

I doubt it because lg screens are a bit complicated and ppl are scared to attempt it. However there are how tos on YouTube you can follow. I would go with the link I gave since the two pieces are attached. With the separate piece you might have to loca the glass to the LCD so u don't get an air bubble in the middle or dust in the screen after time. My first time fixing my Note I didn't use no loca since none of the vids instructed to do so. Worst experience ever, thank god I was able to take it apart and redo it.

I have replaced 3 screens on the OG(mine and 2 of my sisters). It is super easy only hard part is getting the glue behind the screen hot enough to take off. Other than that super easy got a phone repair kit from radio shack for like $12. I can tear down and put back together in like 5 minutes now.

The phone kit is the best thing has everything you need.http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=13180768&retainProdsInSession=1&znt_campaign=Category_CMS&znt_source=CAT&znt_medium=RSCOM&znt_content=CT2032236 And use a hair drier or heat gun to get the screen off. DO NOT touch the battery if it gets poked or bent out of shape a little it will go bad very quickly. Obviously unplug it from the board but thats it, and its only 2 connections to get the screen off the main board. Everything is pretty easy once you get inside. I watched a video and that was a huge help.

Get both. All things being equal, your best bet is to replace both. Since screen and digitizer are so close together on this phone a break like you got probably means both are damaged anyway.

Well...personally I would heat that one up and remove it to be replaced by a new grill. Google the part and also check out a couple teardowns. You might be able to reshape that white plastic once the grill is off too. Good thing she didn't get the glass !

I would take a look at a teardown guide. See if you can get a busted htc one on ebay to replace the back part or just try and bend the section that is bent.
There are some tear down guides on iFixit and also on youtube. Would post links but I don't think that is allowed.
the same exact thing happened to me. Dropped the phone, dented the upper right hand corner. What i did was buy one of those invisible body shield cases and put it on.

Actually I think it's both. Every teardown guide I've seen mentions having to heat up the phone to soften the adhesive. Here is someone on XDA that braved a teardown before sending the phone back for replacement anyway:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2353895

I saw one where the dude pulled it apart without heat, and showed there was no adhesive at all. Someone said something in the comments about how it'd be easier to use heat, and apparently this guy had done it both ways and the only difference is that using heat makes it hot as balls and hard to handle.
