Hi all, I've had countless numbers of phone cases and have to make the recommendation of three specific brands.
SGP: Beautiful, clean, thin cases. Definitely my top pick.
Seidio: Well-made, heavy duty cases at a great price.
OtterBox: Fort Collins, Colorado based company that contributes thousands to local charities and teams (gave my robotics team $6,000), provides very heavy duty cases at the expense of style. If you need something that you can throw out a window, this is your best bet.
That's what I've gathered from my experiences, what do you have to recommend? Shout below. :good:
Incipio: affordable and complete protection with style, comfort, and innovation.
Noreve.
Sexy. Sleek. Professional.

I am a total case hoarder with every phone I purchase and it has always came down to Casemate or SGP or Samsung. With the GS3 a little known company called Capdase might actually be the winner.
Wow! I'm going to check out all three of those.
Upon a day's worth of research, it looks like SGP's quality has dropped...hard. :crying:
PS: Where can I buy a Capdase case? They look great, but I can't find a website that sells them.
I saw that someone said the aluminum case for capdase affects your signal. I got the SGP Neo Hybrid it is pretty nice. But if looks don't matter as much to you, it is really just a fancy TPU case so get a $10 TPU case.

Are you having the button sensitivity issues everyone else is having?
Incipio is my top pick for TPU cases. Their NGP cases are thicker and slicker compared to generic TPU ones.
SGP is one of my favourites as well, well at least until after they solve the button issue on the Neo Hybrid.

i guess ill chime in on this. Have had 2 only so far.
UAG (urban armor gear)
Pros: Built Tough, Not bulky, Well made, Top Quality, Cutouts/Ports right on, Button Response ok, Unique like no other design, On-Table feature, 6 unique colors to choose from.
Cons: Pricey, Minor defect on bottom side "sharp edge" where pinky finger rest's (easy fix with box cutter), Included screen protector is a finger print/grease magnet.
Ballistic SG (NOT SG MAXX)
Pros: Great Quality, Drop protection, Soft corner impact bumpers, Great color combinations, 5 Colors to choose from. Great price for the protection it gives.
Cons: None so far, barely put it on today(11-23-12). Will review later, once real life hands on experience.
ZooGue cases have been my favorite. Amazing TPU, amazing quality.
In my opinion, Otterbox is the worst. The silicone breaks too easily and the screen protector is absolute junk. I prefer trident cases as a heavy duty case than any other heavy duty case.

Urban Armor Gear cases - Pricier but quality is top notch. Case is well protected and the fit is perfect. It's a cool looking case too. Lightweight and doesn't add too much bulk.

I m looking for a nice case on eBay that is not more than $50. Which case is your favorite and why?

I dont usually buy on ebay so i cant help much there. But i can tell you all the cases ive tried.
Otterbox Defender - did not fit well so i did not purchase at the store. Screen protector is lousy. Phone rattled in case.
Casemate Toughcase - again did not fit my gsm nexus well. Gaps in silicone and i do not like the larger than necessary gap between the usb and headphone plugs. Also was a dust magnet. Should have learned my lesson with the first toughcase i tried for my galaxy s.
Diztronic TPU - have two of these. Rev 1 both in matte black and matte smoke. Great cases except the volume rocker section but Rev 3 should address that. I recommend.
Rearth Ringke Slim - currently using this case. Color i have is matte black and it is a great case.
Case Mate POP! It is not too bulky, offers good protection, good grip without attracting lint. Fits the extended battery perfectly.

I have the casemate pop and Love it, but I need to use my ebay bucks so I figured why not get another case.
Had 3 cases for my Nexus as my review for them are as follows:
Case-Mate Barely There - Price was too high considering the kind of case you were getting. As it's known for, it provides very little protection but was also very slim. I would have less issue with it if it covered the top and bottom of the phones fully but it oddly didn't. With it on, it looked more like a shell instead of a case. I would not recommend this as it seems like you are paying for brand name here. Might as well get a full body protector from Zagg or Ghost Armor instead of this IMO.
Otterbox Commuter - This was a good case. If you are looking for something that will protect your phone without being extreme (like using the Defender) then this is perfect. Adds bulk for protection but also looks great as well. Best of both worlds and recommended for those that want above average protection while not needing it to look like a beast. Fairly difficult to take off so don't get it if you get into opening up your phone a lot.
Diztronic TPU Matte Smoke Grey - This was the best of the bunch for me. Price wise, it can't be beat at $10.00 with a workable screen protector. Looks wise, smoke grey is beautiful on the Nexus as it looks natural (Nexus is grey to begin with). It adds only a little bulk so it doesn't look like a case swallowed your phone. Feel wise, matte is definitely the way to go. I've had glossy cases before and it always left grime, oil, and fingerprints. Matte feels and looks very clean and provides a little grip. Protection wise, I'd say it provides average protection. I've always used TPU cases and they can take drops from normal heights. TPU is fine for my rather un-extreme lifestyle. Finally, Diztronic's customer service is top notch. Had an issue with the volume keys and they are sending me out a replacement case with the keys cut out. No need to return the old one. Would definitely buy from them again because of that as I have high confidence that they can rectify any issues.
So there you have my mini-reviews. It is obvious that I favor Diztronic as they seem to hit the sweet spot for my preferences. Best of all words in all the things that are important to me.
Hope you guys find a case that works well for you too.

They may be shatter proof, but they only protect the better cover and rear sides of the phone. It's a half-solution at best. Waiting on Rearth and will report back.

Case-Mate Tough Case: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1420043 they're working on it.
I had bought a Case Mate Tough skin case for my phone, and it's had a lot of issues with the power button fit, it would turn off and on by touching the area anywhere near it. I looked around case-mate.com and noticed this case is not on their website, so I contacted Case Mate and they say it's a known issue, and are going to ship me a new one when they come in sometime during in the next 2-4 weeks.. Good customer relations.

Ghost Armor...
No added bulk, adds just enough extra grip, protects from scuffing/scratching. Obviously, not gonna give the same shock protection in a fall.. but then I've seen guys with TPU cases drop the phone and shatter a screen. (with gorilla glass)

Just got my Seidio Active today. As with all Seidio cases, it is awesome. I had the Incipio double case from Verizon, which is a similar concept. But the Active is a lot smoother and looks way better. Great amount of protection, minimal bulk. I actually prefer the way it feels with the case on compared to bare. It gives a nice feeling to the volume/power buttons.
As a bonus, I got the Royal Blue one, and the color perfectly matches the blue theme of ICS. I highly recommend it. There is also a version with a kickstand, too. Here is a link to what I got.
http://www.seidioonline.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=CSK3SSGNL-RB
I'm a bit of a Seidio fanboy, as all of my devices have Active cases on them. But you can't really beat the protection and style. No huge logos, and the color of the hard shell really gives it a nice look. Dropping the phone with the case on barely does anything to the case, let alone the phone.

I have the kickstand-ed version and I must agree that it is a really well designed enclosure system. Works really well with the extended battery/cover. My previous Seidio case was the Active Extended for the Thunderbolt and that setup was the main reason why I decided on Seidio.
This is my favorite case and its probably the best value.
http://www.myincipio.com/Samsung-Ga...CRYLIC-Hard-Shell-Case-with-Silicone-Core.asp
It features 3 layers including the screen protector and doesn't make the phone huge, yet keeps the phone well protected. $29.99 and I couldn't be happier.

Hey guys,
I am looking into buying a case now, and after looking through some threads here, I think I will pick one of these three:
Diztronic TPU case: http://www.amazon.com/Diztronic-Flexible-Protector-International-Packaging/dp/B0089F49P0/ref=?ie=UTF8&m=A2HOCXU5SC35JO
Ringke Slim Lite: http://www.rearthusa.com/galaxy_s3_slim_lite_kit
Incipio Silicrylic: http://www.amazon.com/Incipio-SA-302-Silicrylic-Silicone-Samsung/dp/B0085VAP38/ref=sr_1_1_m?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1342098764&sr=1-1&keywords=galaxy+s3+incipio
The most important thing for a case to me is drop protection, followed by thinness.
I have heard good things about all these cases, so I feel that I can't go wrong, but I'm having a hard time choosing.
Also, if you know of any other cases that you really like and offer good drop protection.. let me know
Edit: Looks like I'll go with the Incipio.. Thanks for the replies

If drop protection is top on you list then take the Rearth off the list. TPU is quite hard when compared to silicone, in a drop test the Silicrylic case will not doubt be much better.

+1 I currently use the Ringke but only because it's thin and provides enough protection to prevent scratches while still preserving the beauty of the device. I also have the Diztronic tpu and it should provide enough protection for low drops.

My silicrylic and my gs3 both showed up yesterday.
The case is very nice and definitely offers drop protection. The silicone doesn't seem to attract dust and lint like I thought it would.
I used to have a seidio active on my evo 3d which is the same type of case, so I thought I knew what to expect. I have to say though the incipio case is much nicer than the seidio case was. It is very sleek for what it is and the silicone isn't at all tacky like the seidio case was. It is very smooth and slides in and out of a pocket very nicely.
The all black looks nice on my blue gs3 too which is great.
I basically bought this case for times I may want a little extra protection, but I am so happy with it I think I will use it as my primary case. Fyi I ordered from Amazon and it only cost me $17 shipped.
I'm liking that incipio
I have this casemate one because it was all I could find the second day I had the phone. They come in all black now
Definitely buy the Incipio Silicrylic.
I have actually bought all 3 types of cases for my S3 that you listed in your OP, so my opinion matters more than these other guys! j/k -- 1) TPU (Cruzerlite ($10); similar to Diztronic and $1 versions on ebay); 2) Hard polycarb shell (Rock Quicksand ($10); similar to rinke); 3) Hybrid (Incipio ($18)).
After trying all the cases on, I can only recommend the Incipio if you care anything at all about protecting your phone, while looking good, and without adding as much bulk as an otterbox. The Incipio's Silicone sides and the hard case itself is also grippier than the others, and doesn't attract lint at all like my $0.99 silicone lint magnet on my old Captivate.
(Throw the screen protector that comes with the Incipio away, though. Crap quality)
I have the incipio and like it a lot...tried a letterbox commuter but took it back because I liked the incipio that much better...

I dunno, if thinness is number 2 you should stay far away from the incipio. It is definitely a fatty.

The Incipio is an excellent choice. I bought all three and find the Incipio to be far superior, mostly due to protection capabilities.

I love my Incipio Silicrylic White/Gray case, but I just ordered an Otterbox Defender for the times when I feel I need a little added protection.
The only thing I don't like about the Incipio Silicrylic is that it doesn't have quite as much grip on the hard shell as I expected it to. Otherwise, it looks great, seems to protect well (though I haven't dropped it yet, and don't plan to), and doesn't gather lint.
If I wasn't so afraid of the phone slipping out of my pocket, like my iPod does all the time, I wouldn't even use a case.
But, a good case is a lot cheaper than total protection insurance. It costs more over the course of 2 years with deductible than I originally paid for the phone with contract. An an Otterbox Defender only costs $30-$50.
My vote is for the incipio
If you don't mind the extra bulk and want the peace of mind stick with the defender. The bulk is not bad, and it makes the phone feel like it's made of more premium material, I own it and it's great!

I'm using the Diztronic matte blue one. Fits really well and looks great, much better than the cheapo one I picked up on ebay :silly:
Hasn't anyone used all 3 of the cases I listed above for their S3 and can compare? Wondering which one's the thinnest.
In have the diztronic matte black and it's great. Its not too thick and has a decent grip to it. Some have said the cruzerlite tpu cases have a ribed side for grip.
+1 For Diztronic matte black. Thin, light, good fit, easy to remove, no finger prints, slides easily in and out pockets, provides "adequate" protection of all 4 side edges given its thickness and a light lid-bumper around the front edges of the screen helps keep the screen from touching flat surfaces when the SGS3 is placed face-down. Btw... it also looks good.
I have all 3 and I must say the THINNEST hands down is none of the above. Samsung actually makes the thinnest TPU case and also while its the thinnest it has covered flaps for the 3.5mm headphone jack and the micro usb charging port! While I love my clear matte back Diztronic case the Samsung one has it beat in terms of sheer thinness. It also has the least amount of lip so it doesn't lift the edges of a Zagg or other full screen protector. Just my 2 cents.

I find it lame that people review cases and use the terms "thin" and "slim" in term reviews... These terms are totally useless to me as they can mean drastically different things to different people. When I do case reviews I try to include measurements whenever possible.
Example, post #4 of my Igadgitz TPU case review:

I think if more an more people start doing this, everyone will be better off.

The Mercury Pearl is by far the best fitting and looking TPU for the SGS3.
IMHO, YMMV...
i have a diztronic and the cruizerlite case. i like the cruizerlite better but thats mainly because it has the cool design all over it. the diz is just a plain cae. the diz is thinner than the cruizer but the cruizer has the ribbed sides so it grips better. they both fit about the same. the ridge on the front that touched the screen is a little thicker on the cruizer. i'd recommend either to anyone!

ultra low-profile but barely protects it
low-profile with a bit of protection
larger but good protection
bulky but really good protection
You have to choose from these. All but #4 can look pretty darned nice. Anything in #4 tends to look big but not necessarily ugly.
If you want #1, then go look at the Rock Quicksand case. There are others like this as well.
If you want #2, go to eBay and look up any TPU case or check out CruserLite's cases (the Persona cases are better than their Androidified cases for the Galaxy S3).
If you want #3, there are a number of options such as the Otterbox Commuter, Incipio Silicrylic, and several others.
If you want #4, there's the Otterbox Defender and I think a few more (that I'm not familiar with).
Those would be the cases I'd suggest you start looking at. Then go find alternatives and learn more about what's out there. There is a TON of info in the Accessories forum!
The snap on cases from ebay are stellar
UAG Urban Armor for medium protection. The case looks great & it offers great 4 corner protection with a good enough lip in the front.

Got the Rock case and I like it cause of the feel and grip it adds to my phone so I might not drop it, but it doesn't do much for protection lol. I just wanted a case to give feeling to my phone instead of plasticy. I've dropped it once with the case about 3 feet onto tile and I didn't get a scratch so it does some good.

+1 on the cruiserlite androidified, bought on amazon and they actually sent me 2. Luckily, the only 2 times I HAVE dropped it, in the same day no less, it worked wonderfully. If you are just looking to protect against scratches, the OEM Samsung cases are the best I have found. Obviously don't provide protection from drops, but ultra thin and add some grip to the phone. I picked up the white two-pack from Expansys. If you have the 50% off from Samsung accessories you can pick up the white/blue pack for $10 plus shipping and tax.

DBA Cases Ultra. Small company with an excellent product. Numerous color combinations available. They can be found on Amazon or their website. There is also a review here on XDA

DBA thin grip is the best case I've come across and it has huge cutouts for the buttons. Definitely worth checking out.

Rock quicksand series cover, it's a great case and has a nice grip to it!
I agree! I use only Ballistic, I tried 4 other cases including OB and the buttons are way to stiff for my own liking. Ballistic with a Zagg HD I highly recommend.
Thanks everyone
I have the PureGear DualTek Extreme Impact Case and it's really good. Non obstructive and provides good protection.
