Titanium Backup ★ root:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.keramidas.TitaniumBackup&hl=en
Pro (recommended):
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.keramidas.TitaniumBackupPro&hl=en
And then follow these instructions:
http://www.howtogeek.com/70715/how-to-backup-and-restore-your-android-phone-with-titanium-backup/
Or if you want to go the no-root route:
http://www.tested.com/news/feature/...-data-from-your-galaxy-nexusno-root-required/

Use es file manger if you don't have root
If you are rooted then use tb pro it is best...

I use TiBu Pro and love it but here is also another option.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...per#?t=W251bGwsMSwyLDEwMiwic2NkLmFwcDJ6aXAiXQ

I use ROM toolbox
It has like 8 apps combined.

[Q] About custom ROMs and patience

Hi,
Currently i'm using AOKP milestone 4, and i'm very glad with it.
Now the milestone 5 is out, and i would like to update ; after all, that's why i bought a dev phone, to have updates faster.
The problem is everytime i put a new rom it took about one week for me to tweak my entire phone again, to install all my apps, custom themes, put shortcuts in home screen and all that stuff.
I see people in this forum installing new roms as it is just like change clothes, and for me the process is VERY dull and time consuming.
So my question is : is there any magical formule to install a new rom (that requires a wipe) and have all my apps, home screens and configurations restored ?
Or you guys really love to do all this work again over and over ?
Thanks in advance !
titanium backup makes the process alot quicker.
Titanium backup pro can restore all of the apps automatically but you have to buy the app (or .apk) (if you know what i mean )
but some of the roms that i have saw they dont recommend it i dont know why .
ill risk it
good luck
Ok, will check it, but as you said, AOKP does not recommend to use it.
Another question : i will make a nandroid before apply. IF anything goes wrong, i can flash my nandroid and restore everything ? No problem if it will be a 'downgrade' ?
Thanks
Can't say I would use a rom that mentions I shouldn't use such a popular app.

they dont recommend you restore the rom control (system stuff) apps are fine however. i restore my apps super quick.
it also depends on which one you're going from. Milestone 4 to milestone 5 there were more things added to rom control.
but if you went from like build 32 to build 33, you should be able to restore the settings.
-Titanium restore user apps/data
-Nova/Apex/adw launcher restore desktop configuration
-only thing that takes time to configure is rom control settings.

You could try backing up the directories where that data is saved...never did but in theory it seems like it would work.

backup all with titanium. then you try simply instal beta 8 over 7. When it will not good, then wipe all, install 8 and restore apps from backup.
titanium backup is the best solution for this..
you can also backup apps with App Backup & Restore... it will backup the apps and restore without downloading the apps again
Titanium Backup is the way to go. I fully recommend paying for the pro version if you plan on flashing a lot.
Just search the Play Store for it.
It also has the ability to backup your phone log, messages, and wifi hotspots, which is increasingly handy.
You also have the ability to back up to GDrive and DropBox.
Just don't restore system apps or data, as you don't want to restore older versions into a new ROM.

Changing From Rom to Rom

Sorry nub Q,...
Best way to switch roms without losing all my apps every time... Running asop 4.2.1 and would like to check out a few others. But jus thinking about having to redownload all these apps and log in again makes me tired. Thanks ahead of time for any suggestions.

Titanium Backup.
Been some problems with titanium back up when flashing new roms, see galaxy nexus development threads for some examples, if you want a relatively failsafe method that stores your apps off phone you can use a file manager like astro to back up all your apps into apks then drop the backups into a folder on your computer via usb, along with any media or data you want preserved, then reload after fully wiping phone and flashing new rom, you might have to download a file manager to install the apks if rom doesnt have one. Gather you have a custom recovery installed, dont forget to update it prior to flashing new rom so you can recover if all doesnt go to plan. Good luck

If you're interested in using your PC to back things up, you may as well give apk batch installer a try: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1531880
If you are using the latest version of titanium backup, you have the option of creating flashable zips of all your apps with data included. Tried it a few times and it seems to work flawlessly for me. The key is to avoid restoring any system apps. I have about 70+ apps to restore and setup. Before it would take me an hour or two, now is done in about 10 minutes.

Titanium backup is useless unless you actually have the pro version. Pro version makes it all one click, set it and forget it. Definitely recommend it for any custom rom flasher.

Before rooting my Note 2

Hi,
I'm thinking about rooting my Galaxy Note 2. Then I want to install some custom ROM. I have decided to go with CleanROM because of s-pen option which I'm using. But I'm a little confuse about rooting so I will be grateful for some help here.
1. After rooting my phone I will be able to update my system?
2. With custom ROM all my applications will be up to date? I mean I will be able to download updates from Google Play?
3. What is the best way to root my Note 2? I have read about Galaxy Note 2 Toolkit or Odin way. Could you please explain me diffrence between those? Which should I use? Is there any thin else I need to install before go with ROM?
4. Do you know good tutorial how to install CleanROM?
5. Should I remove my sim card doing all those things?
6. What about my data? All will be erased?
7. How can I do any back up of my settings and apps?
Please help me to understand it .

1. Yes, but I don't know how. Google it
2. Rom developer will explain which latest version you'll get. Just go to xda rom page.for the second question, Yes, u can update with play store.
3. Personally, I rooted my phone with methods from galaxynote2root.com, it work fine for me. It used Odin.
4. Just go to rom page in xda , all will be there!
5. As far as I know, it's no problem. But u worried? Remove it, it won't take you more than 5 sec.
6. Your data? Copy everything from internal SD card to your computer. Some rom need to clear your internal SD to flash a pure rom.
7. Use titanium backup. Make sure you backup into external SD. After flashing your new rom, just install titanium backup and locate your backup from external SD.
8. Have fun!! But beware! Just wanna remind u.. be sure to backup your stock rom + EFS backup before flashing your clean rom.. There are so many efs and imei lost and got mess up (Twrp recovery can backup both rom and efs.) in case something went wrong, just restore it..

Thank you for quick answer!
I got question regarding point 8. How can I backup my stock rom? And what is EFS? Is there any tutorial which can help me?
One more question. You wrote to use titanium backup. So when I will perform this I will be able restore all apps and settings on ROM?
I understand that first I need to root my phone before using titanium backup right? Rooting can delete some data?

Just flash Twrp recovery from here ..
http://teamw.in/project/twrp2/115
For me, I first flashed "cwm recovery" from galaxynote2root.com, just Google it... and then using cwm recovery, I flashed Twrp recovery.. Zip mode from above link
To know you had installed Twrp, power off your phone .. Then press volume up + home + power button together to get into recovery mode.. Then backup your stock rom and efs to external SD.. There are also so many tutorial about Twrp recovery on YouTube.. So it won't matter for u.

Efs is generally the same as imei.. If u lose imei, you can't make call etc...
Titanium backup can restore all user apps.. Don't worry, even your playing game level!

Last question is yes, you need to have root to use titanium.. As far as I know rooting won't delete your data.. But I I'm not sure about that.. If u worried, have a search in this forum..there are so many people to help you
Sent from my Galaxy Note II using xda app-developers app
Rooting will definitely NOT delete any data. Just make sure you use pretty clean PC because of the drivers, that is most important thing and install correct drivers. Then use Odin to root. It is really simple. Then you can make EFS (IMEI) backup, just search the forum there is a topic.

how to backup apps

help i want to backup all of my apps from GB and restore them to JB touchwiz5 cusrom , is it possible ?
and how to ?
OK....first things first......
App only....can be done.
App + data....SHOULDN'T be done.
For backing up apps (to re install without downloading again) you need an app like Titanium Backup. Using it's 'batch actions' you can back up ur apps then create a zip file of them that you can flash in recovery.......don't get much easier than that......
This might be my S2, or it might be my W...but it's definitely CM
