How to reset Desire HD to stock - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
I'm a complete noob on here and only really registered to ask this question. I'm selling my Desire HD in order to fund for the Samsung Galaxy S3.
I've rooted my HD and I want to get it back to stock when it first comes in the box
Can somebody please walk me through how to do this?
Also, it would be incredibly helpful if someone posted instructions for Mac.
Please do not abbreviate anything.
Thanks in advance!

Stock as in the software it has on it when it comes out of the box.

Where did you buy it from? A network or carrier's shop or on a specific network? Was it sim locked when you got it?

Ff you rooted, then you should remember how you did it. Go back to the thread, and most likely it has info to go back to stock.

Use AAHK to return to stock (youre gonna need a pc)

What is the best way to unroot? I have to send my phone back for warranty, I'm 16 so ill have to use my moms credit card and ill never hear the end of it if they charge her cause they know my phone is rooted. I need S-ON stock hboot stock radio(if it matters) and stock ROM, I read the guide on the unlocker.com but there's massive amount of comments saying they had problems or it didn't work. Thanks so much, when I do it does it matter or would it make more sense if I updated to gingerbread before I send it in?

As long as its a stock rom it shouldn't matter, maybe try find the closest or exact rom it first came with.

[Q] Need an Orange UK Nand backup

Does anyone have a nand backup of an Orange UK ROM? My Phone is a new-ish desire (PVT4) with a amoled screen.
I need to send the phone back for warranty work but didn't backup the default ROM and am unable to find a stock orange nand to restore. ( I did find one but the phone would not boot up, just sat at the HTC logo screen )
Hope someone can help me
Thanks.

I know there are no RUUs, That's why I asked for a rom backup. If anyone has an Orange rom (rooted or not) then could you please do a backup using clockwork or RA and post a link.
Thanks
You don't need it. Just flash a wwe ruu. Htc service centre won't have a problem with it. I've sent at least 5 handsets for repair this way.

The 2.3.3 from HTCdev.com is definitely warranty covered. They do state that 2.2 wwe aren't covered unless you should be on that so theres a risk there, but not with 2.3

Hi mate.
I been thinking about sending my desire back for a while as its got an overheating problem, I'm just waiting till closer to the end of my warrenty.
There is a guide on xda somewhere, I'll try and find the link, basically someone uploaded a eclair image, then you update the official froyo update over the top and trouble are back to stock.
Its takes some work to find it but it is out there. I saved the files somewhere so I'll look around but use Google and you can find it.

His phone is slcd. This will brick it. Also apparently it doesn't work any more. Not that it matters as its no longer required
Like already stated just flash 2.3.3 as its covered by warranty.

Look up "attn1 ace advanced hack kit" in google. He has his work hosted off of xda but is the best method IMO.

Contact [email protected] and donate $15.00 USD to his beer fund. I did and the service was very good. he continues to be helpful even after the initial root service.

[Q] Does Network Unlocked = Bootloader unlocked?

I bought a DHD that is networked "unlocked". Is that the same thing as being bootloader unlocked?
If I was to use the Easy Ace Root Kit would I still need to unlock the bootloader with it or if they are the same thing, do I have to relock it first?
cheers
Network unlocked is a different thing than bootloader. Please refer to the hack kit in desire hd android development

Go home NiCK.JaY, you're drunk
OP, Hack Kit is retired. Network unlocked means that you can use any network's SIM Card in it. Bootloader is something else. You night want to do a quick search

I mean I didn't realise that I wrote hack kit. I wanted to tell him about the other method (don't remember what it's called) posted in the Desire HD Android Development forum.
Edit: Again my bad, it is in Desire HD General, named how to root without hack kit
Edit 2: You had 499 thanks, you get one from me as a present congrats for 500
