Maybe it's the USB cable or port, have you tried others? Make sure you're using a USB 2.0 cable, like the one that came with the phone.

Galaxy Nexus Back to Stock with No USB

Galaxy Nexus(Verizon CDMA)
ICS 4.0.4
Build number: IMM30B
Unlocked
Not rooted
I was hoping someone here might be able to help me with my Galaxy Nexus. My Mac, PC, or Linux box won't recognize my phone anymore. I've tried multiple battery pulls, cords, driver updates(Windows 7), an have wiped the phone. My Nexus 7 is recognized by all 3 PCs so it seems like a phone issue.
When I first got the phone, it had 4.0.2 on it but the battery life was horrendous so I manually flashed 4.0.4 IMM30B instead of waiting for the official OTA. I have read on another thread that someone with the same version of ICS had the same USB issue. They ended up returning the phone. I have a feeling that this is software related and not hardware.
So my question is, is it possible for me to go back to stock 4.0.2. It seems like Odin and fastboot all need usb. I read that a factory format may be possible using a dialer code(*2767*3855#), but when I tried it it didn't do anything. Probably worth noting that I didn't take any backups before flashing.
only thing i know without a USB is mobile ODIN.

Thanks for the response Zep but from what I understand Mobile Odin requires root

Are you sure it's not a driver issue?
If you can't use the USB port AND you don't have root AND you don't have a custom recovery, I don't think there is much else you can do.

Efrant is correct. I think you should try manually installing drivers for Galaxy Nexus. There are few helpful instruction on how to install drivers on xda

On you windows box, what do you see when you plugin your phone with the device manger window open? Is nothing detected at all?
Are you using the same cable between the nexus 7 adn the Gnex? If not, the cable you are using with your Gnex may be a charge only cable or it could be damaged.

[Q] Won't USB connect after 4.0.4 update

My samsung Galaxy S2 Model SPH-D710 just updated to Android 4.0.4 and now will not connect via USB to my computer running Win7.I don't use Kies and never had to.
I never had this problem with it before, first time I tried since that update just the other day and so I'm guessing it has something to do with it.
Running Stock. I don't see anywhere in the phone to make it connect to get the phone itself to show up as a drive.

That may or may not work. Stock TW ICS took out the USB mount option, so its a little tricky.
If you're rooted, try one of those USB switcher apps on the playstore. Some are free.
Samsung/Sprint/Google/Whoeveryouwanttoblame in their infinite wisdom decided to remove USB mass storage. You have to mount it via MTP on ICS. PITA if you ask me. It's no longer a removable drive. Look and see if it shows up as a media player. Also, check your device manager for unknown devices.
nothing is working. WHY? obviously I can take the SDcard out and read it, but the phone has just as large of GIG built into it and is now inaccessible!!!
Used diff connectors, diff USB ports on my puter... I have no idea what to do next?
I guess ROOT?
If I do what is the opinion of the best ROM out there for this phone?
It's back finally, I downloaded the USB drivers manually, but the next time I plugged the phone in 'windows' took over, but skipped the installed drivers and downloaded new ones and it's back to normal... FYI incase anyone needs the same thing.

[Q] Att S3 Wont Connect to Computer

I currently rooted using the latest version of the Sons of Android ROM. Last night I made a back-up of it and flashed the Synergy ROM to test it for a friend. When I restored my back-up, I could no longer connect to the computer. I tried to reinstall the drivers through Kies and also direct from Samsung. The phone charges when connect to the USB port, but does not connect. I have tried two computer so I think it is the phone.
I search the forums and didnt find anything that help.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thank you!

I can not find any fast charge setting. I am starting to worry that I might have damaged the phone. I hope I just need to re-flash a driver or something.
Thank you!
make sure you're using the factory cable for the device.
try another USB port, preferably a port directly connected to the computers motherboard.
delete the current USB drivers for your phone on the computer. reboot it. in task manager, stop any kies background processes. reinstall drivers. reboot and see if that takes.

Did you make a nandroid of the previous rom ? Flash back to that . Flashing any rom made for the NA version of the Galaxy s3 will NOT brick your phone. NO physical damage will happen in any way.
Yes check the cord to make sure its not that....samsung phones are picky....even with the same cord.
Fast charge is usually in the kernel settings menu. It will be something you would had to enable, I've never seen it come enabled on a rom. What kernel are you on ? I don't think you see that setting on TW based rom's anyway ( I assume you are on SoA right now?)
Have you tried to do a complete wipe and flash another rom ?

I have a nandroid of my stock (after rooted) ROM, but it is on my computer now, not on the phone so I cant access it. I also had a nandroid of Sons of Android that was connecting just fine before I flashed Synergy ROM. I restored the Sons of Android ROM (nandroid) that was still on my external SD card and that didnt fix it.
I just did a complete wipe (Cache, Davlik Cache, System, Factory Reset, and Internal Memory), then installed the Wicked ROM with the stock kernel. It still doesnt work.
I tried two different cord on two different computers with no luck.
Thank you!
Is your usb debugging enabled?

USB Debugging is currently enabled, but I have tried it both ways.
I also am noticing my data connection is really, really slow, much slower than normal. I looked under the Synergy ROM and there was some talk of needing to reflash modem and bluetooth when reverting to a stock kernel. Could this be the problem?
Thanks!
You could try mobile Odin and flash the rooted stock that way... Its a shot
You have to use a .tar file though

Can you you give me some more info on Mobile Odin? I have never heard of it.
Last night I flashed the KT747 kernel because it has updated USB drivers, but it still didnt work.
I still have to believe that something went wrong when flashing the other night because that is when it stop work, but I am starting to think it is a hardware issue. It is very wierd!
Thank you!
Do you get any error when plugging it? I had a similar issue last week until I updated Windows.

Nope, no error message. It just doesnt reconize it is there. I have tried three computers (Windows 7 - 64 Bit & (2) XP 32 Bit) and three different cords.
This sucks! Now I am hearting it from all the iPhone users.
Thanks!

I hope we are getting closer!
When is use the *#7284#, I get the UART section that is on PDA and I cant change it.
Under the USB section I have button that says "Qualcomm USB Settings" with a whole punch of options:
MTP
MTP + ADB
PTP
PTO + ADB
RNIS + DM + MODEM
RMNET + DM + MODEM
DM + MODEM + ADB
Should I use one of these settings?
Thank you!

You should have two options, MODEM and PDA. Mine is set to MODEM.
Still no luck! Very Frustrating!
I used Mobile Odin to flash back completely to stock, and the usb still would not connect. I do not know what else to do. I will have to remove the SD Card and use a card reader for now. I can flash back to stock when if I want to take it in and get it fixed or replaced.

[Q] Any CWM Stock ROM? (I can't use Odin)

Hi, my Ace II has broken USB I soldered new but is still doesn't work. PC doesn't see my phone, its 100% hardware problem I'm sure that.
So, when my USB works I installed on my phone JB MB4 using Odin. I install some .zip by CWM and phone didn't start (boot lop).
I didn't make backup so I wipe everything, data, cache, system, preload and everything where was written wipe.
Yes I know that was stupid but I install "The Italian Job Experience v1.0" in CWM, only that ROM starting but not everything works.
Phone didn't see SIM Card, Wi-Fi works only when has static IP, terminal and many apps didn't work. I think there is driver problem, because there is no modem version and phone still ask me to make update but there is an error and task stops.
So my question is: Could someone make Stock ROM for CWM? or help me in different way if there is any?
PS. English is not my native language so if there is anything unclear, Sorry.

[Q] t989 usb port problem

Greetings, i have my t989 rooted with 4.1.2 original rom. It was with that version when i got it yesterday and then i root it and change the rom to 4.0.3 just to unlock for free without any problem. I return to 4.1.2 after all and root it all good until i want to transfer something to my phone and now the phone disconect from computer. I try many cables and then plugged it to a wall charger and it was not.charging then i clean the charging port of my phone and it started to work great but again it started with the same problem.
May the problem be the root? Or i just damage my new phone? It looks almost new and as i said i could install all the thing until root it.
Could you help me?

I would flash a different rom and see if it works then.. Also check all your settings Usb debug etc... Defentily try different roms if it don't work on multiple other roms then it could lead you to believe its hardware related...Hit thanks if this helped. If you have any other issues then message me
I just take it to a rep and fic the problem. It seems like the usb got a problem. Thanks
