Cannot login to xda on desktop! - About xda-developers.com

Just as the title states I cannot log in using the desktop site. I have tried on both themes. When I log in on the 2013 theme it says successful but then diverts me back to the logon screen. If I revert to the 2010 theme it states that I am logged on, and it gives me the options to reply, quote ect ect. But when I click on these links the website throws me back to the log in screen. After I log in it says successful but then diverts me to the log in screen and so on....
I am on chrome with win7. I have tried to delete the cookies from my browser thinking that it might help but no joy. I know of one other user so far experienceing this. Anybody got any ideas on how to fix this??
Thanks heavy.

There's been quite a few people having this very problem over the last few days. From what we've noticed, it's mainly the people who are using Chrome.
Try switching to a different browser and see if that solves the issue.

ok thanks buddy

Try clearing your cache and cookies. Cookies sometimes get corrupt and things like that result.
For the record I am using Chrome and have no problems logging in.

Been having problems for a week. It will say "Thankyou for logging in, NomadSpin" however the page is the same, no control panel, no log out button, no way to post. If activex filtering is on turning it off works. If activex is off turning it on works. I log out clear cache, history etc. (ccleaner) an try an log back in it happens all over again. Out of curiousty i did try and reset browser settings (3 times this last week). Suspected that would not help anyhow since xda is the only site im having this problem with.

Try clearing all your cookies and caches in firefox...then login again...hope that helped !

Try checking off the "Remember Me" box - this resets the cookie so it should allow you to log in.

What is the error you are seeing?

If I try to log in via the top right login box, I get a message that I logged in successfully, but I come back to a non-logged in page. But if I try to reply to any thread, I get another login screen in the center, and using that, the login sticks.
Seems the top login box isn't setting either the cookie, or the session or both properly.

I had similar problems, I can login now from the top login box.
Another problem that has occured since yesterday, normally I open the forum in subscribed and do a right-click to open a link in a new tab.
Since yesterday opening a new tab brings me to the same page that I left from.
EDIT:
When I do a left-click on a link, it doesn't open the link but refreshes the page.
EDIT 2:
The problems seem to be fixed.

Hey i've this problem too
I can try a tips on this thread tommorow.. thanks

I am using Google Chrome 16.0.912.63 beta-m (the latest beta version) on Windows 7. Even after logging off and logging back on, the portal sidebar still asks me to log in to access the widget. I have even tried this in an incognito browser (so that all the cookies are cleared), but it still won't show content after logging in.
At the top right, the Google +1 text isn't a hyperlink, whereas all the other links next to it (FB, twitter, YT) have clickable text. Seems inconsistent.

Yea, same here. it's not even clickable.

I think an improvement would be to remove the featured/popular posts thing. This may be me, but it looks a little too much like engadget now.

Google text still not hyperlinked for me.
Tried logging out, wiping cache and logging back in. Widget still doesn't work. This is in Chrome / W7 x64.
Also tried on IE, which I have never used for xda, so it's a fresh start. Logged in, widget still doesn't work.
On IE9, I also get this gap on the right above the ad:
http://i.imgur.com/LypIE.jpg (a little too big to display here)
Another one (sorry )...
The Twitter, Facebook and Google+ links at the bottom of each post on the main portal page are just images. They're not linked to anything.
And when viewing an individual article, Google+ is missing completely from the bottom of the post.
Chrome 16 / Win7 x64 and verified on IE9.

On the main Portal page, clicking on "xx comments" for any of the articles only takes you to the article itself, and doesn't take you directly to the comments section of the article, as it should.

1. same here, and the "log in" on the widget looks like it is supposed to be hyperlink but isnt.
2. and when loading site, when NOT logged in, there used to be a nice message to "non members" to check out and join the "world famous forums" and make sure to check out the "XDA New User Guide" that was written by some A-hole xda member.... oh wait that was me....

this WORKS fine for me on the ones i tried, make sure the link has /#comments BROKEN LINKS (top 2 posts) are /#respond
but tweet/+1/fb arent hyperlinked as posted above,
I get the feeling there are some very inconsistant rendering results.
The first time i logged on all i saw was adverts, there maybe the same number but they where much more in your face and apeared larger, it really did look terrible which might explain some of the comments you've had
I then reset my IE9 settings an i now cant comment on any portal posts, just doesnt let me type any more screen is there, all the buttons etc but it wont physically let me type, very odd. but on the plus side the adverts seem to have shrunk a bit. However there are some large gaps, namely below the widget that also doesnt work
There are 5 adverts on the portal, and although they appear larger and more in your face its not as bad as it was the first time i loaded the website and before i reset my browser, which to be fair, i shouldnt need to do. However when you click on the comments button for the article it brings up the list of comments and comments box (which i cant use) but also a couple of adverts right next to each other, that looks terrible, ill see if i can get a pic
oh, you might want to change the first article in the portal, the one with the pic of the new portal, your looking at the new portal, so you see what the pic is showing, except its like picture in picture, which might be a reason some folk think it looks messy, sounds silly, but youd be surprised how our minds work
oh an finally, will the new buttons frame be consistant through XDA, looks better if the buttons stay the same on all pages.

Also, I clicked on the "Galaxy S and Galaxy Tab Will Probably Get ICS" article at the top of the page but it is taking me to the HTC unlocked bootloaders article.
EDIT: Could you also space out the links to Forums, XDA TV, WIKI, Device DB, etc? They look a little too cramped.

No problems here, using Chrome Version 23.0.1271.64 m
I face the issues described here when I use Firefox 16.0.2 on Windows 7 (32 or 64 bit doesn't matter, same problem on two different PC's). The forum will reload the page over and over and over again until I deny to run scripts using NoSript for xda-developers.com. Using Google Chrome (23.0.1271.64m) there is not a problem.
Edit: Now Chrome starts to reload the forum pages over and over again, too.
The others are talking about desktop, not mobile. There is no App for those.

My default browser is Firefox and I have none of the mentioned problems. On Chrome however the pages reload over and over again, just like described here.
Same problem here... Attachment loaded but UI messed up... And I couldn't add smilies... -_-
Happen on mozilla firefox too...
I have issues while using. Xda in browsers too,
But only in my home,

10x for the reply but i've tried that already and it didnt work
I did find the solution though... it was the uncertified scripts that chrome says the site uses...
chrome gives you a shield icon on the right side of the address bar, i clicked it and chose to "load unsafe script" and it worked.
Now here is my problem. I have cleared the caches and history as well. But at first time, it shows like I have entered wrong Id & password & simultaneously, I am logged in to XDA. For brief info, please look into the Attachment.

From that screenshot I see you are trying to visit https://www.xda-developers.com; it should be http://www.xda-developers.com (non-ssl http). The CSS script on our CDN doesn't have a certificate which is why you received that error.

I didn't try it. Actually i just click on Bookmark of XDA made by me in Chrome.

Keep having to sign in

Every time I come to XDA I have to sign in. This is the only page it happens to. (except the secure pages like banks and credit cards and such) But facebook, android forums and other chat sites work fine. How can I stop this. And yes, the box is checked to keep me signed in.

I think it has to do something with cookies. I set my browser (Firefox) to delete cookies after each session. If I close the browser and get to the site, I have to login again.
If I quit the firefox process using the task manager on Linux, I am signed in.

Hello. Newbie here. Sometimes I'm signed in when I load the forum page, but many times I'm not. It seems to me that it occurs when some time passes, but I'm not quite sure yet.
I have the same problem. It would reguide me to http://forum.xda-developers.com/index.php?nocache=1 after I logged in.
Same problem here. On chrome too.
Have XDA in my bookmarks bar and every time I click it, I will be logged out although I checked remember me on my previous login. Only happens with XDA, not with any other site. However, I dont have to always log back in again, if I flick through the website, on most threads it will show me as logged in but sometimes on some pages it will show me as logged out.
Strange
I am having this same exact problem. I can replicate it on multiple computers. Very annoying!

Gmail app getting irritating

So Gmail started this thing (not sure when), where it uses a built in browser to handle all links and URL. I assume this is based off chrome, and that's fine if it worked.... BUT IT DONT!
Half the time I get this (see pics) when trying to open a link, and when it does manage to load a page, objects/links all over the page refuse to work. This sucks as I use my Gmail for ALOT of things.
I've tried long holding the links and selecting "open in browser" but I get this stupid built in thing again. Sometimes I can copy the link and open and paste in chrome, but sometime it will just copy the image instead of the link so I end up downloading a picture of the link I want to visit.
I've tried disabling the browser option in Google settings for Google search, but it seems to not affect gmail.
For example today I got an email saying a bill was due, it had a "click here to pay" link. I click on the link, but only get this continuous loading screen. I tried to "open in browser" same thing. So I tried coping URL and pasting in chrome, but only managed to download "xxxx/xx/x/payment.jpg" I wasn't able to actually visit the link hours later when I was near a PC.
So In short my question is.....
How can I disable Gmail's useless built in browser.
Sorry for repeating a bunch of things.

This is strange. I don't have the option to uncheck, but none of my links open with a built in browser. They all open with full fledged Chrome.

I wonder if this has to do with the default handling of links? As in, under Android Settings, Apps, App Settings, "Browser App".
So I have found out it's a chrome thing, not Gmail. Noticed this when I went to open a link in an app and I got the same window.
I cleared all data from chrome, went to Gmail and tried to open a link, and it presented me with full screen chrome, but after logging back in to chrome and reopening the link in gmail again it gave me that bull crap floating windows thing. It reminds me of paranoid androids halo feature.
Anyways, I can't find anything in chrome regarding this.

No it is not. I only use titanium to freeze and defrost my smart watch apps (pebble, martian notifier) so I don't have persistent notifications. Thanks for the help but this is getting irritating.
***************************************
Correction, it is!
However it's weird because I personally didn't freeze it, and it's not allowing me to defrost it. I can see the option "enable web view" in the play store, but when I select it nothing happens and it remains frozen/disabled.

Check my edit above. Titanium is reporting as frozen, and when I attempt to defrost it, it throws a toast notification saying "app was defrosted" but it remains frozen

OK. You want that to remain frozen. I'm pretty sure you need to change the Developer Options I posted earlier in order to actually defrost it, but it wouldn't help you in this situation anyway. I can find a few other threads of people having a similar issue, but with no fix listed.

is your Chrome app up to date? Are you using the Chrome Dev/Beta app?
Looks like I'm just going to flash a factory image.
Check this out.
And yes, chrome is up to date, and no i tend to stay away from beta/dev versions.

Yeah that was one of the websites I came across which is why I was asking if your Chrome app was up to date. It's odd that people are experiencing this and not getting it fixed. The thread just dies... I wonder if anyone has figured this out yet.

Doesn't look like it. Well I'm going to keep this updated with any info i find. I may try rolling back chrome a few versions.
It seems I'm also no longer able to open play store links through the play store either, This stupid browser implementation takes it over without asking a thing. No defualts are set, this is taking away some real functionality from my device.

Just received an update in the play store for chrome, taking it and I'll report back.
