Is it possible to update the radio even if I am not running stock rom?
The latest OTA was some kind of radion update and I don't want to miss out

You should ask your ROM's thread and developers. I know on ViperX, a lower version can be pushed with adb.
The radio is flashed along with the ROMs on the Onex so the latest releases of roms should have the latest radio images

Hi all,
Yesterday HTC launched the official gingerbread 2.3.3 update for the Desire HD over the air.
I have my phone rooted with a custom (gingerbread 2.3.3) ROM from RCMixHD team. So I already have GB..
But if I update, will I lose root? Also, will I be able to flash custom roms after the update? cause with the android 2.2.1 update, that became a problem.. (downgrading was necessary).
Also.. is the update worth it, is it better/faster/more stable than custom GB roms?
thanks for answering,
Simple answer: If you want a stock, unrooted phone then yes, install the OTA update and if it is possible to get the OTA on a rooted phone (I have doubts) then yes, you will lose root.
No, it won't be better to have the stock ROM. You can already get a rooted version of it.
Summary: Leave well alone.

ok thanks, thought the OTA would be more stable and fully functional or something, but I've got no problems with my custom ROM so okay, will stay with it
No worries.
If you have problems why not upgrade to LeeDroid v3.0.x then you get the equivalent of the latest OTA update plus even more goodies.
stock rom 2.2.1
So the I have a stock rom and i can update but after 1 or 2 weeks can i root my phone and use a cooked rom with sense 3.0. Or my phone will be totally locked(for rooting and new xda roms) and I`ll be stuck with sense 2.0 .
EDIT : OK . I did the (OTA) and i found that i will be able to downgrade and install the xda rom , so i am not locked and still can have some fun with my phone 10x xda

like my syg. says i have gingerbread leedroid 3.0.2 flashed and works perfect at the moment.. (i flashed this rom yesterday at morning... and testing it
I have rooted my Galaxy Nexus and flashed Android Revolution 2.1.5 (4.0.2) and have been using for past 2 weeks.
Today I received the notification for 4.0.4 OTA update.
I was wondering if I can just accept the update or wait for the developer to release new version of custom rom based on 4.0.4
You can't, an shouldn't, accept any OTA when you're on a custom ROM. I'm extremely surprised the ROM maker isn't blocking OTAs....

Thanks for your response.
I had the same understanding. Have always been a CM user and so never had OTA experience.
In this case, developer for ARHD 2.1.5 states that it is basically the stock rom with tweaks and improvements.
So I was confused when I saw the OTA notification today morning and thought that since the ROM is basically the stock rom, maybe it can be updated through OTA.
I guess I will wait for ARHD to update, or for CM to release a Stable / RC.
He did update it. Search on rootzwiki ARHD 3.0.0

I also realized it later when I was reading some user comments on the ROM thread. Earlier I had only checked the XDA thread which was still not updated.
Anyway, have downloaded and flashed 4.0.4 goodness :-D
Mybe you can get to http://code.google.com/intl/zh-CN/android/nexus/images.html.
There are some of rom for GN.
Hello,
i use hboot 1.31.
Can i flash ICS Custom Rom like CM9 and use it ? i read in Forum that i only can´t flash ICS RUUs.
Is this correct and possible ?
Thanks a lot
Yes you can flash any ics rom.
But one question for you, in the Q&A thread you where telling people that they can't flash ics on newer hboots .... why did u do that if you weren't even sure. And you are asking the opposite ?

I was wrong. Yesterday i read that it is possible and i changed my answers today.
Didn´t know it works. The only thing which is not possible is to flash stock ICS Roms with this hboot correct ?
Yes you can run a completely stock ics rom, the only thing you can't do is run a ics ruu !

What is the difference between a stock rom and a RUU ?
You can go back to stock rom by restoring nandroid backup but you can't run ruu.
I have hboot 1.31 and tried to flash CM9 and ended in a bootloop.
Is cm9 noch working with hboot 1.31 ?

Probably the kernel that comes with it won't work. Another kernel might.
Why not use CM10, one of them has a kernel mentioned in the first post that will work, sans GPS.

Upgrading your hboot to the ones required for JB Sense will cause problems in CM/AOSP ROMS didn't you read that before upgrading hboot ??

Vodafone have pushed the JB update so you'd need to go back to stock. You're not on a Vodafone ROM at the moment as otherwise the build would be x.xx.16x.x so it looks like you're on custom at the mo. Assuming it's Vodafone UK you can flash this RUU:
https://www.yousendit.com/download/UW13b241YUlZY1FzeHNUQw
And then get the JB OTA. Once you're on JB, you can make a Nandroid backup (as the JB Vodafone RUU isn't out yet) and then flash a new JB custom ROM

thank you, but unfortunately I always got EROOR [155].
I checked and I discovered my original version was 1.29.161.13 so I download the correct RUU from here but unfrotunatlly I got the same ERRON.
What can I do?
Maybe anyone has it on .zip so I could flash it?
thanks!

There are many options there and I really don't know which to choose.
I need it to be stock just with latest official firmware. more then a year ago was the last time I touched HTC phone.
really rusty...

Well first u need to know your device Cid. Then according to that Cid you have to download the appropriate firmware. So first google how to check cid.
I may be missing something, but if it's stock and unrooted, why can't you just do an OTA update?

Why don't you check in software updates on your phone and see if there's any. If not, just exercise a little patience, it will come. I'm using a dual sim type and got the latest version Android 4.4.4.
