Help with installing venom x - HTC One X

Hello I just rooted my hox and wanted to install venom x on it. I downloaded the venom x1,2 zip and put it on the root of my phone. Flashed the latest clockworkmod, Installed the boot.img and tried to install the venom x through fastboot. It wont install and I get the message install aborted. Now my phone goes into boot loop and I can only get into fastboot. Also my nandroid backup doesn´t work.
What can I do, is it possible to somehow get from where I am to install the venom x or do I have to re-lock my bootloader and install a stock rom? And does anyone know how to do that on a Mac (I´m a noob) or give me a step to step idiotproof guide on how to do it on a pc.

If you have latest cwm, go to recovery, mounts and storage, mount sdcard. Then you can copy the rom.zip to your phone. That's where it needs to be to flash from recovery.

You install the ROM zip through CWM, not fastboot. Hopefully you copied it to the SD card before starting. Can't help on Mac.

Yes I have the rom on my sd, I tried to install it through cwm (or I think so, went to fastboot, recovery, cleared data, install rom from sd, searched the sd install and from there I get the message installation aborted) am I doing it wrong?
I can do it on a pc if I get a really good guide.

Redownload the rom and check md5

You're almost there. Could be the ROM download is no good. Try verify the md5 hash or just download a new copy of the ROM.

hehe ok how do I check the md5? I did try to download an older version of venom 1,1 I think and that doesn´t work eather.

I think you're trying to flash the Venom Kernel Flasher not the actual ROM. Check the size of the file you're trying to flash. The ROM should be about 650Mb. The download link is in this post:

Just noticed, but is it ViperX you r trying to install? Cause current version is.. 1.0.1
For that u install 1.0 first and get ota update to 1.0.1
I am not familiar with venomX. For md5 you need a md5 checker for mac. Can't help u there since I am a pc guy.

I can´t wait to try this out am downloading as I´m typing this. Will let you know how it goes.

Nope, you can do it through CWM. So, from fastboot pick recovery. In CWM pick mounts and storage then mount USB storage. Copy the ROM zip to your CD card. Then unmount USB storage and flash the ROM. You may not have flashed the correct boot.img, so you may need to do that as well from fastboot.

Don't forget to flash the boot.img in the rom.zip file first. You can later install other kernels with venom flasher.

Yes, or you could just install the htc drivers..you have numerous links here for them. But the easiest way is just to install the newest htc snyc.
After that try mounting the zip file from the recovery, but dont forget to flash the boot.img from that file first through bootloader

ok I installed htc sync on the pc and when I try to mount usb I get E:Unable to open ums (no such file or directory). Can anyone help me, what can I do?

These errors are CWM related. See here
What is your CWM recovery version? 5.8.3.0? If so, first upgrade to 5.8.4.0 with
fastboot flash recovery <nameofrecovery>.img
from your PC.

[Q] Help Please - Bricked One X

Another thread like this... I know. Sorry.
In an attempt to load the modified battery management file, I've managed to brick my One X. It just sits at the 'HTC quietly brilliant' screen and that's as far as it gets.
I can boot into bootloader and then use fastboot, which in turn has allowed me to load the Clockwork Touch Recovery. I can reboot and load this recovery fine. But whatever I try, I cannot get it to boot back into the normal OS.
I cannot mount the phone on my laptop as that's not an option (that I'm aware of) in the One X recovery mode. Therefore I cannot copy across a new ROM to the SDCard and reload via 'Update.zip'.
Battery is healthy, everything was working prior to this failed attempt at being clever.
What other options are there to re-load a ROM and get the device working again?
Thanks in advance for your help
Rob

Thank you, very much. A question, where it says:
'After that download RUU specific to your handset and run. This should install fine and return you to stock.'
I've downloaded what I think is right and I have a .zip file, how can I get this onto the device to install it?
It is mentioned in the instructions. You will need to use adb.
Edit: I presume that you have fast boot and adb installed on your PC. If not you will need to do that for your device to be recognized

That's the trouble, I can't. Because there is no USB access in recovery, ADB doesn't work.

No adb.
Boot into fastboot on mobile and run the RUU from pc.
You need to have your bootloader locked before the RUU can run.
fastboot oem lock
Also did you try a factory reset in recovery and then tried to reboot into system

I do indeed have ADP/Fastboot on my computer still.
Where can I download the stock RUU? I can find a .zip version from this very forum, but how do I install that if I can't transfer it? I had assumed there would be a .exe version to run from my computer. Is there?
skywalker1970 - I did indeed try that, thanks.
Thanks again

[Req] Desire HD stock ROM zip file

Hi!
I had tried to root my Desire HD and somehow got it stuck on the splash screen the other day.
I've been searching for a long time but I couldn't find a zip file for a stock ROM for the WWE Desire HD. I did try the RUU's but they ended up with errors saying it's already updated.
I thought I found one and ended up flashing this :http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1208507
which is actually the At&t ROM.
Would really help if someone could give me a link for the zip!
Have you looked here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1610483? Also, what are you trying to do, run a RUU or root your phone?

4pda.ru has detailed instruction. Truing to translate...:
1. Download the original firmware.
2. Run it.
3. Accept the "agreement"
4. Go to C :/ Users / YourComputerUsername / AppData / Local / Temp
5. In this folder, locate the file rom.zip. The file can not be directly in the root of the folder and subfolders.
6. Copy this file to wherever you want. Copy should be while installer running, or at the close installer the firmware file will be deleted.
7. Close the installer
8. Rom.zip file can be renamed to PD98IMG.zip to flash STOCK firmware without BB method radio. This could be useful if you have not installed HTC Sync, or there is a problem with the connection between your computer and phone.

or the name of the file is not correct (check that it is exactly PD98IMG.zip) or your sdcard is corrupted, so try using a different one. Anyway, you can try flashing the RUU from fastboot usb.

Maybe can be important if I'll try to explain what I've done to flash my phone:
1) Download:
RUU;
SDK Android because I need the tool "fastboot"
3) Run RUU and take rom.zip from temp dir;
4) Exstrat the zip whare is the fastboot;
4) From my recovery I've wipe chace and system partition;
5) Reboot in fastboot mode the phone and plug it to usb;
6) From cmd type in: fastboot flash recovery recovery.img ; and next fastboot flash system system.img
7) Put CWM in recovery: fastboot flash recovery clockworkrecovery.img
8) Reboot the phone and install HTC Sense...
That it!

[Q] I did a really stupid thing (Formatted HTC One X ... completely)

So yeah ... Hi
Yesterday evening I decided that I was sick of HTC Sense and wanted to unlock my bootloader, root my HTC One X and install cyanogenmod.
When I got, what appeared to be a bootloop, I panicked and did something really stupid. I kinda decided that it was a good idea to go into my ClockworkMod Recovery and formatted everything, including data and system.
Now I can't do anything with my phone of course. Also there appears to be no way to access the SD card inside and I can't take it out.
I have no recoveries or backup's and my laptop does not detect my phone at all.
Please help me, I would like to get my phone fixed as soon as possible.
Thanks in advance
If you have the latest version of Clockworkmod just go to 'mounts and storage' and mount usb storage. Afterwards, copy your ROM zip onto the sdcard

You need to look in the search for one x one click tool (there are others) and use that. There will be instructions on the thread though it's pretty self explanatory. Don't panic your phone will be fine but I'd turn it off as you read or you will cause yourself more hassle. Im typing this as I walk so can't be more helpful.

Download this recovery
http://db.tt/Krlm4dPs
Rename it to recovery.img and copy it to the fastboot folder on the pc, now put the phone in fastboot usb mode (hold power and volume down button until it restarts into the bootloader)
Flash it with fastboot
Fastboot erase cache
Fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Fastboot erase cache
Then enter recovery and mount the sdcard as usb drive and copy the Rom.zip over. Boot back into bootloader with this command
Adb reboot bootloader
Flash the boot.img from the rom.zip from fastboot (copy it from the rom.zip to the fastboot folder on pc, just like the recovery)
Fastboot erase cache
Fastboot flash boot boot.img
Fastboot erase cache
Enter recovery and do a full wipe and install the rom.zip from the menu "install zip from sdcard"
Should do it !
Ok, thanks for all the great info guys. Because of you I am now able to connect my phone to my pc however I installed cyanogenmod 10 and somehow it flashed the boot.img and it still does not boot. That only applies to Sense ROMs.
On CM10 and some other AOSP roms it's the other way around: they only run on older hboots and updating hboot results in bootloop.
It can be fixed though, but we need his hboot version.

Like I said, it can be fixed. You only have to flash a kernel which is modified to work with newer hboots. It is is post 9308 in CM10 thread. And fyi: GPS is not functional on this kernel.
