I can't seem to find init.d on my phone. I go to system/etc but there is no init.d. How do you enable init.d scripting? Sorry if this is a noob question. TIA to who's willing to answer.

Haha sorry. Stock rom, rooted, RA recovery, Underworld v0.8 SBCnoHav.

Make a nand and try the script. Should work on any device with even stock roms

Well another question I guess. What init.d script Smurfed, V6, etc. has a good balance of speed, stability, and battery saving?

Depends on which one your phone likes best. Each has different effects.

True, I've heard that before. Okay final thing. Should I take any other precautions before flashing that init.d zip other than make a Nandroid?
Sent from my PC36100 using xda app-developers app
Back up the files in init.d you delete. Either move them to a safe place or copy them to a separate folder on your computer. Then you should be good to go.
The Creator of Suds N' Bubbles
Okay, well I'll flash that zip tomorrow after 13 hours my batteries almost dead lol. Thanks, again.

I tried to flash the init.d zip file provided in the link and I got an error in recovery.
E: error couldn't open /tmp/recovery.log (not sure this is fully correct)
Not sure why I'm getting this error.
I searched xda and Google before asking and only found this post and one other but it was only targeted to the Desire HD. Don't understand why there isn't a stock init.d folder or a recovery.log.

Redownload the zip and try again.

Okay, flashed the file. It said completed but right afterwards it had the same error.
E: can't open /tmp/recovery.log
So I tried the test zip provided by the OP and it failed with the same error.

Most likely outdated or could be your recovery. What recovery are you using?

RA supersonic recovery. Not sure of the version. I followed this guide.
http://htcevohacks.com/htc-evo-hacks/how-to-root-htc-evo-4g-on-hboot-2-18-with-s-off/
I didn't go through with the s-off part as I read that you didn't need to unless you wanted to flash a full rom.

I figured this would fit in the themes section best, my mistake if it was better placed elsewhere. It seems that all the flashable theme zips I could find on here are coming up with a (bad) error in clockwork, anyone know why/how to fix it?

Try this. Open what you want to flash through it, setting it to Options>Mount Type>Incredible, then save. Transfer to phone and it should flash fine. However, read all instructions, and remember; if your phone breaks from something you flash, the developer takes no responsibility for it. That said, I've used this a lot and it worked out fine. Good luck!
Thanks a ton I will try it and let you know

So i rooted for the very first time using revolutionary. Now i want to flash synergy rls2 but apparently my cwm needs to be 3.0.0.7 or higher but mine says 3.0.0.5. How do i update it?

Download ROM Manager. Then at the top you can download and install the latest.

Make your life easier. Get Amon Ra and then you can do proper wipes, nandroids and flashes

My response was under the impression that you have a working ROM. So I suggested to upgrade CW by using the app called ROM Manager (free on the market).
I agree with HIPKAT, you should use Amon-RA. It'll be in the bottom portion of the ROM Manager app titled ALTERNATE RECOVERIES (not yelling)

Flash this thru recovery: http://dinc.does-it.net/SuperUser/SuperUser_3.0.7.zip It will update the su app and binary. Also make sure busybox is installed correctly.

Boot up the phone and use a file explorer to go to /system/bin and make sure there is a file called su. Also try to go to the mannage applications menu and clear the data for the superuser app. If it still dosent work i would try reflashing cwm thru hboot and then try flashing superuser again.

Might be better off with goo manager and installing twrp. Also when you have an issue, give as much detail so people can be more helpful

Trying Goo manager although when I try to load twrp it forces close, someone help me I want to ROM this up. I'm rooted and have clockwork but have no luck flashing
Sent from my ADR6350 using xda app-developers app
Check the md5 sum and see if it matches up, or if ur lazy re-download the rom, just make sure its for incredible 2. It could be a bad download. Also I believe you have to flash the kernel after the rom as well

Okay some help here I know it was right ROM, how do I get right kernal ?
Sent from my ADR6350 using xda app-developers app
Roms have the kernel included no reason to flash different kernel unless you are wanting to change clock settings or voltages or fix problems such as volumes.

ClockworkMod is the recovery I started out with, it should work just fine and will not affect flashing a ROM. After a few weeks I switched over to 4ext recovery. But I would get a little more familiar before jumping around to much. Have you successfully flashed a custom rom yet? One other thing you may check is the radio version, I recommend upgrading to the .312 or .320 radio.
Not on this phone done rooting on nook color and my first Android so I need to flash a radio and a ROM ?

Download condemned cm.7.2 on your PC and put it in the root of your SD card. I hope you made a backup of your old ROM before you tried this seeing as you're not booting atm

I haven't seen this answered (or I'm blind)...Are you S-Off, or HTC Unlocked?
I am s off help me
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Okay sorry correction I am only unlocked do I need to s off ?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Now everything makes more sense...The preferred method for flashing roms here is s-off. It can be done without. I believe the method involves extracting the boot.img from a rom then after flashing the rom, flash the boot.img with fast boot. I haven't done it, so I can't give you better details on that, however it is covered at length in many of the rom threads, so I think a search for "boot.img" should get you on your way quickly. You'll probably want to search with the desktop version of xda.
Edit: However, I think the consensus is that getting s-off isn't terribly hard and saves a lot of headache down the road, so I would recommend that. Again, there are threads with all the info you need.
Thank you, looked at s off method and going to try that tonight then I should be churning through Roms thank you !

No problem. I do have one more suggestion. When you are s-off and comfortable with things, find the twrp thread in development. It's my opinion, and I can't say I've tried all the options, but twrp is way easier to use than the normal CWM. There are other options you could consider; 4ext and CWM touch. It's all about the research around here.
