The Amazing Spider-Man
The Dark Knight Rises
Gangstar Rio: City of Saints HD
Modern Combat 3
Grand Theft Auto 3
Shadowgun
These are the most awesome games on Android OS (at least for me) and all of them are optimized for xperia play
there is a bit of lag when playing old games like Modern Combat 3, gangstar and GTA3

there is a huge lag when playing modern games like The Dark Knight Rises and Spiderman
I guess future games will be unplayable on our Xperia
Anyway, I want to know, will these awesome games run smoothly without any smell of lag if I overclock cpu at 1.5 GHz ?
They will run better.
Personally, no games lag for me at all. I use Ram Manager from the market amd select less intense hard gaming option. You should try it

what setup are you using on your play ?
Im on fully stock with root
Just use ram manager when playing the 'big' games like MC3 etc
or if youve unlocked your bootloader and have a custom kernal, then you should overclock your cpu. I use An-tu-tu cpu manager when playing 3d games (such as gangstar rio, gta3, fifa 12 etc). I put it the min on ~800MHz-~1.4GHz. If i need more, then I just increase the max frequency, It really does help.
your on stock firmware and kernel and no games lag at all !!!!!

Yeah, they lag if i dont use Ram manager.
But if i do they are completely fine
I am using ram manager and v6 supercharger and my games still lag a bit but I am using 2.3.2 firmware what firmware are you using
2.3.4
Personally, v6 was horrible for me
ok thanks for quick reply I will try it without v6

Ram manager states that it will not work effectively with another ram script working at the same time
So maybe that was affecting it
same problem
I have the exact same problem. I experience lags when I play games on my Play, especially the ones with great graphic like Gameloft's (Dark Knight Rises, Gangstar Rio, even Asphalt 6). I felt very angry at times my Play lag when I was playing Asphalt 6. I always crashed my car when I took a sharp turn with Adrenaline on, and the game lagggg !!! They said the games will run on 59.4 fps.
Gangstar Rio even worse. At first it lag, and after a minute or two, the game crashed.
I read the post you guys posted earlier, and it seems modification is needed. The things u guys said about rooting, I dont think I dare to try for now. Maybe later, because I dont want to void my warranty.
Is there any connection between micro SD card and the game performance? I use Class 10 32 GB Kingston card. What card is the most suitable for Xperia Play?
What methods do u guys used other than rooting, and how effective it will be on my Play ?
Thanks.in advance. My first post in this forum.
Warranty ? Pls. i unlocked my XP first day i bought it.
U can easly get the warranty for screen or tape between screen and game pad.
I think u dont need any warranty for OS. And only thing u can break by urself is the cpu if u OC to much.
Even with unlocked BL and rooted phone u still have limited warranty, i called sony about that.
If my slider broke etc etc i still get warranty because this things are not software related xD
u just have to tell about it when u going to send ur phone on warranty.
If u r looking for stable gaming envoriment i will advice u to use
Lupus Kernel (364-1,4) and bfq sheduler, Dixperia2 Rom.
Other wise just remowe all bloatware from phone (google and facebook aps) and free as much ram as u can
Atm im playing GTA 3 at max detail + shadows + 100% resolution + 40% draw distance and im more than happy. It gets 50+ fps sometimes it is slowwering down but only when rain starts or night when lights are turrning on but its only for a sec it looks like some new data going to ram.
(Sry for bad english)

The class 10 micro SD card is the problem. I had one and it made everything lag horribly. You should better stick to class 2 or 4 for gaming.

Will try to root and unlock later (although i know nothing about it). First I need to study how to root and unlock. When I have extra money, will change my sd card. There are a lot of people experience lags when changing to class 10. Someone in the forum said, class 10 is not for gaming, because its random access speed is low. Besides silver shadow, a lot of people complaining about lags when changing to class 10.
Its a shame we need to experience all of this, because Xperia Play is a gaming phone, and should be lag free. They should make a phone with double analog stick (not analog touchpad) and 100 percent 60 fps!!! Its a good thing that the android games is very cheap. I pay for 2 gameloft games for just RM 6 (or USD 2 dollars).
Thanks guys for the help.

Lag free...
Look at PSX spec, or even PS2. And look at new phones hardware. This is not the phone problem, the problem is bad optimisation. If, for exapmple Gameloft (the worst team I ever know) focus on opptimization, you will have good quality games even on low-end phones. But not - buy new phone every six months, then you should'nt problem with lag
So this is not problem with our Xplays, we live in an ages, were profit matters, not users experience

class 10 is indeed not that good in random access speed, i think class 4/6 is the best all round use...
All of this talk about class 10 cards having bad random access speeds was valid a year ago, not any more. Times change and with it so does technology. A decent class 10 card nowadays doesn't have these problems. Whoever recommended a class 2 card, lmao.

P.S i'm coming from xperia X8
If you like to play yourself through good old gameboy + nintendo and some playstation stuff and many new game apps and you don't want to miss nice features of a smartphone (phone, sms, mp3, navigation, internet, camera), then go for it.
I don't see any reason for me actually to buy a new smartphone. There are SOO many games playable thanks to all the emulators, but only the Xperia Play seems to be the only one so far who can be used out of the box to play (nearly) them all. The playstation keys are so great imo, I don't want to miss them. I'm currently stuck at a "Pokemon" game and my list of games I want to play when I'm on the go is SO HUGE that my Xperia Play will follow me until the buttons break out of it's case!
All other components of a smartphone are included too. ofc the processor could be faster, the camera could have a better resolution and the battery could hold a bit longer, but imo it's a very nice device.
... and the current price is a true Xmas present.
Best regards
AltFFear
The gamepad makes it the best phone for gamers. If no smartphone comes out in the next 5 years with a gamepad, then the play will still be the best phone for gamers 5 years from now.
Only non gamers would argue that fact.
and seriously?! Sony Ericsson announced support of Ice Cream Sandwich for the Xperia Play. That's awesome! With my HTC Desire I had to wait SOOO long just to hear that they aren't able to upgrade from 2.2 to 2.3, I mean wtf?! Sony Ericsson made so much right here. Even the stock ROM of SE works nice and all updates are usefull. And you get so much accessory in the box, man!

i get what you mean but for example if someone says something like the..... the wifi drops a lot...... then i would reconsider buying cos its important to me i just wanted to make sure all the features that are important to me work well
Dont mind sour grapes there, he bought a porche but wanted a lamborghini.
Long story short, if you want a phone that is the best for playing games get this because of the gamepad makes a ridiculous difference.
If you just want a great phone that does everything perfect then keep researching other phones.
This one is for playing games, thats what it does best.
P.s.
If you get a different phone, please play some multiplayer games as us play owners will enjoy eating you for breakfast.
only problem with xperia play is your stuck mostly with emulators which are fun but after a while they get tiresome and only certain games work with them and gameloft keeps subtracting its xperia play optimised games from the market
YES
'nuff said
I'm a 5-month user.
I would say most games out there are not optimized for Xperia play, and those that are can actually be played with the touchscreen anyway (maybe not as well)
I mainly play emulators, and I see great success when playing more fast paced platformers (impossible on the touchscreen) like Megaman, and RPGs that makes use of the shoulder buttons a lot.
If these are not your type, I think there are better phones out there.
(Other issues: my play came with a lackluster battery.)

how about space? I heard the internal memory was like 400 mb? Shouldn't it going to be like few gb?

Gameloft dosent sell any of its play games on the market, the ones on the market are not play optimised. You have to buy games from the gameloft wapstore.

Hi AndroHero, you seem to have a good setup - could you help me with the below please.
How big is your second partion and format do you use. I did 1gb in ext2 to achive the below

But I wonder if there is something I could do differently to have even more internal memory free like increasing the partition. Or having apps moved to sd instead of linking first and then only linking dex and lib but not apk if possible but I haven't managed to achieve that. Also having link2sd seems to make booting quite a bit slower. Maybe ext2 format is not recommended.

im looking at buying a play at the moment, however im not to certain on the actual power of the phone and how well it will handle games that are MMORPG like order and chaos.
theirs more powerful phones on the market then the play, will these play the games better then the play or is their some kind of magic that happens in the play?
I love the fact theirs a physical controller but im also not to worried on being stuck with just a touch screen controller if ive got a more powerful mobile.
someone help me make up my mind
once i get it the phone will be most likely jam packed with apps, and i love gaming.
not to worried about the PlayStation certified as most of the games ill play are on the android market

I was planning to buy a new smartphone to replace my Galaxy S2 and thought I would get the HTC One X.
I am slightly put off by the horror stories that are flying around about very poor build quality, GPS problems, WiFi problems and probably the main reason, I heard that the HOX is having problems with some high end games!
The fact that the HOX uses the Tegra chip means surely it should handle any game thrown it's way, right?
I have heard that when playing some high end Tegra 3 games it often overheats and/or freezes or lags like hell. The only way to stop is to install a patch or some sort of driver upgrade, is this true?
Would love some info on how the HOX handles high end games as I play a lot of games on my phone.

These forums will always have tons of problem related threads, that's the nature of forums.
Mine is a launch day HT23 model and is issue free.
What games do you play, and I shall let you know how they perform.
Issues with games tend to be Gameloft games, they ain't supporting Tegra chipsets that well.
But games like GTA, Max Payne, dead trigger, mass effect, pro evo 2012, sonic, shadow gun etc all run great.
Only Gameloft game I own that runs properly is Modern Combat 3, I'm not sure why they haven't fixed the others yet. (But I haven't tried them all)

People who get normal products won't came up and shout, i get a good phone..
In contrary, many who get a abnormal phone probably came up here shouting..
Though, I had to admits that HOX has higher defective rate compared to others.
Just make sure you checked the phone before leaving the shop, you may find some guide here.
I've been lucky enough to not have ANY hardware problems with my One X at all. It seems like there have just been a lot of isolated incidents of hardware faults with the earlier batches that HTC sent out. By now, you'd be quite unlucky to run into any of these issues, but if you do get a One X, check that you don't have any of the hardware issues (which have been documented here on xda) before rooting it.
As for gaming, i've mainly played Dead Trigger, Osmos and a few other 2d games. So far, i haven't had ANY issues with any of those games. Dead Trigger looks particularly amazing though with all the special tegra 3 effects and it runs smoother than it does on my friend's S2. Actually, i also played Dark Meadow (a tegra 3 optimised game) which looked REALLY good and ran very very smoothly.
A lot of my friends have the S2. The biggest differences between the two devices will be the screen resolution, the speed of the One X is much greater in general too (especially on AOSP ROMs, but ESPECIALLY jelly bean). Also, the One X will probably be a slight decline in terms of battery life from the S2. However, i seem to get pretty similar (and GREAT) battery life on my One X compared to what a lot of my friends get on their S2 phones.
I hope that helps. Give a thanks if you found this useful!
Thanks guys,
Glad to hear it's just the early batches that had faults.
And as far as gaming goes the only Gameloft game I play is MC3 so that's cool
Think I'll bite the bullet and join the HOX club, it does seem like one hell of a decent phone!

Well, mine is a launch day model and issue free
after the 2.17 update to 4.0.4, home screen smoothness is the smoothest I've seen on non-JB devices.
Only slight jerk in frame rate for me is opening the app launcher, it doesn't happen every time but its due to the animation HTC have added were it loads up from the bottom and moves up the screen.

gameloft games for some reason are anti tegra, you can even see visible clipping issues in them and so they lag
the only heavy GL game that support tegra properly so far is The Drak Knight with full effects and good performance
their upcoming wild blood game should run well, since Tegra 3 has proven to run unreal engine games pretty well such in the Dark Meadow and Horn
Tegra 3 is a hot chip due to the 40nm process but one of the most stable chipsets i have ever messed with, much more stable than all my snapdragon devices, even at the hottest temps the device never freezes
as for the temps they are actually similar to the SGS2 and not worse
finally Tegra3 and the software for it has matured pretty well matured now and all the major issues were squashed
all other non GL games runs very good, THD games are amazing
you will have to root, install faux kernel and use the renovate gaming boost app to get the most out of this device for gaming (without sacrificing HTC sense)

As someone who uses his devices for gaming extensively, I can assure you that gaming on your Note 2 would be a great experiance. I have tried almost every high end game in the market on N7100, and till now have not experianced any sort of lag or any other problems. NOVA 2,3, Shadowgun, GTA Vice City Modern Combat 2,3, NFS Most Wanted, Dead Space, Backstab, Dead Trigger, BIA2, Virtua Tennis etc and originally PC games like Max Payne and GTA 3 etc all run very smoothly. The only problem I have yet had is with MC 4, but I think it's only because of a script I am running and not the fault of the device. I have also heard that there are problems with Asphalt 7 but as I had played it a lot on my Tab 2 I am not really interested in downloading it again.
My theory is that one shouldn't hold the most powerful mobile device in the world in his hand if he has no interests in gaming By the time I am done with this device I will have had my money's worth

As said above, all games I have played run amazing on the N2. It's a great gaming 'phablet'. I have heard Asphalt 7 and MC4 are running a tad slow, but MC4 is having this issue on other high end phones as well. I will try MC4 very soon...
the two main games ive got on my note 2 are wild blood and nfs most wanted.
with nfs most wanted, the framerates are much more playable compared to my nexus 7. however, its still note quite at 60fps. it generally depends on the amount of action, but early game, it sticks pretty close to 60fps. late game, when you start having lots of high speed cars on screen, along with police in corvettes and road blocks, i've seen it drop down to 25fps. its still far more playable compared to my nexus 7 (nexus 7 drops to around 7-15fps around some of these parts), but its still a notable drop.
that being said, i do come from a PC gaming background, and i've got my computer set up so it never drops below 60fps at max settings, which is the only reason why i notice most of the drops and stutters. for most people, it will probably still seem really slow.
as for wild blood, havent played it much, but it seems to run at a fairly low framerate (lower compared to nfs mw anyhow). still playable though.
compared to my note 1 and nexus 7 though, the note 2 is a much better device. much more oomph, a lot less stutter, a lot less lag, much more responsive overall.

I have nfs just to test out this phone and honestly I was totally expecting it to run 100% smoothly considering the ranting and raving of this device, not to mention the heavy dollar amount for a 16 gig phone. I am thoroughly impressed with it. Seems to me that gameloft is the only company making games that can really test the phone so they can expect some profit now that they have something that works with their games. Only thing I don't like about the phone is not the largeness but rather the fact that everything downloaded goes straight to the internal memory, including picture downloads etc. So I have to go to the computer and manually transport it to the sd card but that's a small drawback for me.

if youre talking about picture downloads from the browser, go into the browser, settings, advanced, and change the default storage.
you can also set the camera to default storage to the memory card, but this only works for individual snaps. burst snaps will save to internal memory by default (to avoid slow memory cards slowing down the burst rate), and you'll have to move them later.
MC4 runs flawless on my device.

You didn't mention the goodness of the battery life. After playing 1 hour of NFS MW and wi-fi on, I still managed to to get 7 hours screen-on time. Amazing!

The xperia play is a great phone and ghe best for gaming but its pretty outdated specs wise.if you don't care about specs and just want a good gaming phone than go for it. But if you want want a newer phone with good specs then get something newer like an s3 or something more affordable. But if you like gaming and don't care about old hardware and outdated software ( its stuck on gb unless you wanna flash a custom rom) then go for it

its the only phone in the market that has a real life playstation touchpad yes it may have lower specs than the one thats out there, but the feel of having android phone + a playstation certified gaming gadget can never be traded by anything else out there. this phone will be my best and will forever be cherished by a gamer like me
i was worried about the ram its only 512 ive hardly had a phone with 512mb my current other phone is atrix dual core and 1 gb ram i also have an iphone which i dont want
This phone might have low ram and bad specs, but games still go much faster on the xperia play then on other devices with better specs.
And if games start to lag, unlock your bootloader, then flash a kernel and overclock.
Still lag, debloat your phone.
Still lag, flash tweaks eg AdrenoBooster
I am a proud play owner.but get galaxy 3 or HTC one and you will be happy.the play I will give it half a year and it will be dead.I am play owner from the start my first android phone.I hate Sony for what they do to this phone and not releasing xplay 2!!

I would go with a newer phone I believed the xperia z is PS certified so you get exclusive games and its 5" 1080p full HD so games will look amazing on there...I know I would so swap my play for a newer phone in a heartbeat as I'm not a big gamer

I believe the Xperia z would be an awesome phone choice for someone with gigantism or something 5 inch display like come on thats ridiculous. You cant even hold it in your hand comfortably. Maybe soon they will come out with phone backpacks cause unless you have ganster pants that monster is not going to fit in your pocket.

Playing games on a touch screen device is good but not the same as playing on xperia play
Its not worth getting xperia play. A few weeks ago I thought it is worth to have an xperia play for gaming, phone, bluetooth, etc all in one little device... With all those I listed above is what I use on my xperia play it became a burden because it drains the CPU resources to do certain for instance gaming, and because it lacks ram, internal memory. I felt it was wasnt worth it a long run. Get a ps3 controller with a stand and be done with it.
well, its almost 2016 and I don't give a crap about specs on my phone, maybe on my pc for heavy gaming like shadows of mordor. But if you really love games F... all others. sure you can be gay and get a moga controller or other, but then you need a stand for your phone(unless it has one) then you have to carry a controller around like a putz! why do I really need to walkaround like a gay batman with a fanny pack in lieu of my utility belt? and ram? who cares root it unlock the boot loader and use sd card ext give your self whatever size you want good god! oh the X-play successfully use the 64 gb sd( I know cause its in mine 4 years now) is that the only defense new phones have that and speed? So what you had a 90 ghzx 32 gb phone SO??? IT DOES NOT HAVE A BUILT IN DUAL TOUCHPAD CONTROLLER. like one guy said ramp up the speed a little to alleviate sluggish response. I run mine a 1300 MHz (don't want to burn up the processor) and its almost 2016 , but with a controller, I get to play DS games (almost all of them ) all snes, genesis, Gba , and now PSP games and N64 games (quite a few) run (most of them) and all of the PSX library too then all the other games out there for android and the small handful of x-play exclusives. dead space dungeon hunter 2 3 and 4 shadowgun GTA 3 AVP minecraft PE all angry birds rainbow 6 HD ,backstab, Aidens crons man the list goes on.
So if you are agamer, don't get anything else period because it has a controller and the massive list of highly functioning emulators to go with it. ( seven consoles in one plus android games). if you just want a really powerful phone get a Z or i phone 6 or some Shiite because you know that you need that raw power for your texting and twatting. LMFAO but you already know what youre going to do , so just do it and stop asking questions.

It's funny how android fanboys basically jack off to specs but a single core phone from 2011 still keeps up in gaming lol. You can even install up to jelly bean and have everything working kitkat and lollipop work but the touchpads are still being worked on. If the Xperia play could be modded to have LTE everyone would probably still have it. Yes other phones have bigger screens and are faster but if it is gaming that is your passion the play is THE ONLY WAY TO GO. Like this guy says you can use the sd as ram lol. It will be slower doing some things but gaming with that controller just can't be matched. If Sony made a derivative of the Z that had a gamepad I'd buy it the second it came out lol. Because my plays flex cable went out when I was away I had to get a new phone aka the Ion and now I have a z3 which is nice because it has alot of awesome features but I still have and still use a Xperia play! Gaming on a touchscreen really sucks.
Someone even modded the remote play apk so you theoretically could play your Ps4 on your Xperia play if you have the Sony files on your rom!

Don't get the Xperia Play now.. move on and get a z5 and a PS controller attachd to it or something.. this phone will be dead very soon.. Gaming wise. as a phone its still good. newer games demand more from the phone which Play cant give.

Well for me the Xperia Play has been the best phone ever made, the build quality is amazing the design is perfect, the speakers are great, battery life outstanding, the Camera is still great for today standards and the physical controls just make the difference, no other phone in the market offers all that.
My advice is, get an Xperia play if you mainly care about gaming and only use your phone for basic stuff like moderate messaging, phone calls, whatsapp, listening to music, taking some photos.
If you use a lot of Facebook, email, surfing the web, google app and other heavy apps then I advise to stay away from the Play, the single core and the 512mb of ram are just not enough for multitasking, no matter how much you tweak it, the experience will be annoying. Mainly due to poorly optimized apps from developers, for instance the Facebook app will make the XPlay unusable.
let me add to that many of the apps that I use.. have a min. requirement of 4.0.4+ or ICS+ and if we use Xperia play for real gaming.. we have to stay at GB or 2.3.7 .. so u would have to choose between Apps or Gaming.. so yes
Gaming wise this phone is the best.. that too cant play newer games I believe.. as time will pass newer games will have a min requirement of 4+ too I believe.. so this phone is loosing the battle everyday in that sense.

Why do you have to stay below jelly bean I believe everything works. I'm not sure about kit kat tho. But the majority the VAST majority support down to ICS which our plays do have. You can mod ICS or pick up a rom to make gaming epic. Just trust me on this one.
https://youtu.be/T7uJ_ylow3k my awesome youtube channel so many vids! 237 to be exact
not sure if anyone still visits this thread, I just got an Xperia Play (R800at) today. been playing around a bit with it (I collect unique cell phones still looking for a nice inexpensive LG Thrill (in good shape lol) and I'm done lol)
Anyway, was looking on here to see what mods and such were available. hate the low memory. wanna kill off the FB app as I prolly wont use it there. just wanna load some emu's and a streaming music app (Soma FM) . also, probably a silly question, did the market end for this phone? (the game market I mean. both the playstation app and the xperia play app (the one that starts when you open the controls) wont connect to download)
Also whats the best root method?
This is really crazy,
I've compared NOVA3 Free and Asphalt 8 with a Honor 6 and to my surprise, the Honor 6 is more fluent.
The 550ML have some scenes which are slower (for example the long view in the start of Nova3 free)
3Dmar score is 18300 for my 550ML and 13200 for the Honor6, Honor6 is in Full HD.
How is this possible ? The lag on the 550ML is not enormous but still you can observe it.
No applications runnning in the background, no powersave mode enabled, latest update.
Could it be that lollipop is not optimised for games ?
I don't have the games you mention, but I do play a few, namely Traffic Racer, Lane Splitter, Cut the Rope, Angry Birds... and all of these are fantastic on my 550ML.
But I also have Parking Mania installed and it is terrible, the screen rendering as the game scene moves is lagging badly and making it difficult to play. I find it difficult to blame the phone given that some of the other games which work well should be even more demanding on the system.
Could it be that some games just don't run well on Intel Chip? (I'm no expert so tell me if I'm talking crap).

I have 551ML and i have tried NOVA 3 freedom edition... Its plays smoothly no lags no frame drops...Graphics are amazing...No problems faced by me in any games yet..I played Nova 3 Freedom edition, Modern Combat 4 Zero Hour, Modern Combat 5...All these games played well without any issues..I have high end variant of zenfone 2 so have enough ram...Maybe Ram is your culprit.. Try closing apps which are not in use and use in-built ram booster
I also noticed some lag on a few games.. Subway Surfers, DomiNations, Simcity are a few examples. Games that aren't at all that demanding, especially Subway, which always ran smoothly on my 1st gen Moto G, without any problems, and on my 550ML it's noticeable some frame drops. Now I don't think this can be RAM problems, considering Moto G has half the ram and never had such drops. Maybe some games aren't optimized for this soc? .. It has to be because, I've tested games that are flat out heavier and don't have this consistent lag..
One thing is for sure, this phone should have more than enough horsepower to run all these games without issues, yet it doesn't.

Or this could be related to lollipop since some games are running low slower on lollipop than on Kitkat, at least it is what i've read.
A bit disappointed this frames drop on the 550ML, when you see the benchmark, you cannot think of having this.

Lollipop don't make games run slower. They played roughly the same after I updated my Nexus 4 and G2 to Lollipop months ago, and the Nexus 9 didn't display any lag even after I reduced the GPU speed by 50%.
There's likely something problematic with the drivers for the PowerVR, or a general lack of optimization for this Intel chipset. Games that are smooth on an iPhone 5S are sluggish on this phone.

When you see this video "www".youtube.com/watch?v=xzcxFMbjlME (Remowe the two "" for the link) Asphalt8 has been way slower on Lollipop than kitkat event if the 3Dmark score is two times lower than the 551ML.
We can ask ourselves if the chipset of 550ML has not a leak of performance instead of the 551.
I have created a ticket also for that issue, we'll see what asus answer me.

I don't know but it seems many many people complaining are 550ML users... I hardly saw 551ML users complaining (except for battery drain and network drops)
I also don't believe that it is a RAM issue. I always use the game booster for RAM and start playing with about 1.2GB of RAM free.
I have checked the Google Play feedback on the game that gives me problems (Parking Mania) and nobody complains of the lag. I can't believe that everyone reviewing this game is using a phone with 4GB RAM.
Whatever the issue is, it certainly does not affect all games, so I am tending to think that we should not be blaming Asus for this one.

I and someone else noticed improvements in a few games so I think the GPU drivers were updated
But I've also noticed that the game I had seen improvement in and only game I had trouble with, The Witcher Battle Arena, that it now spikes CPU usage (usage rises to mid to high 90s) and locks the frequency to the highest step. Not sure if the game is poorly optimized for x86 and/or NDK issues and/or lingering driver issues or what. After a while the phone overheats and throttles.
I have noticed a performance improvement with this procedure :
Go into Settings then Developer Options and check Disable HW Overlays,
