I am in the bay area and have T-Mobile. I have a rooted phone with stock firmware. I recently got a Firmware Update message on Sept 13th but have been just ignoring it.
If I hit Update will it remove my root access? I am assuming it will.
How do I get rid of the annoying message at the top left that indicates a firmware update is available? Do I have to remove some package or kill a process?

The OTA update breaks root, but this thread has the radio update that is in the OTA so you can flash it without breaking root.
Like in my question. Is there OTA update for UK generic or I'll just have to wait till it's released? My 2.3.3 phone is rooted and I don't want to lose it when updating via SEUS.
I'm on UK generic and no ota update for me yet
I flashed back to 2.3.2 and only get the first update not the 4.0 fw
Only a matter of time though I guess
Got it in Canada yesterday
Just got it for UK generic. Downloading it as I type.
Me too, patiently waits for the OTA update here, good thing they already released it yesterday.. I'm using UK generic too. TS, the availability of the OTA update depends on your place.

cheers

Yes i received the xloud update (4.0.a) last night over ota and root is still kept. Uk r800i.
If you flash 2.3.2 again then root and ota it will update you to the xloud firmware with root.
1 question do i have to unfreeze all bloatware before i can perform OTA for the new firmware 4.0?
Thanks
Yes you do or else the update will think you have uninstalled them. Just make a list of what you have frozen. Unfreeze > ota to 4.0.a then refreeze whats on your list plus a few other new things.
I just received the upgrade via OTA i guess is to 4.0 since i already have 2.3.3 and the size is 78 mb. I downloaded it correctly, it try to update but after 3 reboots (normal reboots the phone does it itself) it says that could not update, does anyone nows why? I have a rooted Xperia Play and it isnt unlocked.
PD. Everything seems okay it didnt mess up anything, just didnt update correctly.

The notification an update
Hello! I have a problem about update information, i have root and every time i have this information. I installed new room but it did not change anything. I have a question, maybe there is a file that can be removed. Maybe someone had the same problem and knows how to do to update notification disappeared.
In my experience the newer Lollipop updates will fail if you are rooted. Just update manually using toolkit or some other method.
yes I know but need information on how to disable the update information which there is all the time
today, a new update arrived. (zvd)
with the last zvc update, my phone has been locked (like all of you). i re-unlocked it (with octoplus) but i received a new update today.
i don't wanna risk it again is there any way to fully disable ota updates?
