Hi all, looked for others having this same issue as me and couldn't find much.
I would have posted this in the actual thread for the ROM, but because I have less than 10 posts I can't (which I think is kind of ridiculous, but that's just me). Anyways, on to the problem...
Ever since 16.3 came out, the Kindle App FCs when trying to open a book. I posed this same issue on the Team Nocturnal website and someone suggested to fix permissions with titanium backup, reboot and try again. If that didn't work then clear App data, uninstall, reinstall and try again. Neither method had any effect. I went back to version 16.0 and the kindle app works like a charm. It's a shame though because I would like to have the current versions with their capabilities rather than having to be stuck on an older version. The kindle app is daily usage for me though, so I need that to be working.
I'm posting this here because it seems to be more active than the team nocturnal website btw. Thanks in advance for any help.
I'm starting to feel like a broken record saying this in thread after thread, but are you doing full wipes or no data flashes, if you're doing no data that's your problem...

I went ahead and checked, and it wouldn't open books either on my clean install. The developers can't test every app.

I'm having the same issue on 16.6.1 Goodness. Kindle app just closes after it opens up.
I did a clean fresh install of 16.6.
Still happening with 16.6.2 as well.

Is anyone else having issues with Awesome Drop? I hadn't used it for a week or so until yesterday. I dragged my file into the browser window and then nothing happened. The file showed up in the Awesome Drop window on my laptop browser, but the transfer didn't occur. I've tried it several times in the interim with no success. Is anyone else experiencing this problem? I've tried in both Chrome and FF.
Dumb question but did you make sure to open it on your phone?
Sent from my SGH-T959V using XDA App
Haha. Yes. Each time I also reset the PIN to make sure that wasn't goofing things up. Is the app working for you? If I know the server is routing files for others, then the problem is on my end. If others are having issues, it's likely on Awesome Drop's (Dashwire Labs) end.
It worked for me as of yesterday
Sent from my SGH-T959V using XDA App
Would you mind trying it again with a small file to confirm it's STILL working? This is driving me crazy... I'd appreciate it.
Worked with the ADW2Beta.apk file. It's about 0.58 mb

Arrrrgh. Thanks so much. Now I get to figure out what's corrupted on my end. Sigh.
Try uninstalling and reinstalling?
Sent from my SGH-T959V using XDA App
Yep. I've uninstalled, wiped the Dalvik cache, tried restoring from Ti...no luck. Browsing, Chrome to Phone, texts...they all work without a hitch. For the life of me I don't know what's gone sideways here... It's really frustrating, too, because Awesome Drop is my go-to solution for a lot of file transfers. What browser do you use? Are you stock or using a custom ROM? (I'm on CM7.)
Stock Froyo (2.2.1) rooted. And Chrome on Mac. Are you on the right Wi-Fi? I know it seems like a stupid question but you'd be surprised at how often it's simple things like that
Sent from my SGH-T959V using XDA App
Ah, I wish it were that simple. I just confirmed that I can send files to a buddy's phone from my laptop...thus, I've managed to tweak something in the dark recesses of my phone. As I've been delaying my plan to flash a nightly version of CM 7, I guess the wait is over! Thanks again for verifying that the app worked.
Do you have a NANDROID from earlier that you could flash to to see if that would fix it? Then try to isolate the.problem in the data entering and leaving the phone

" Another Android first from Fahrbot Mobile
SwitchMe is a unique application for root users that allows you to log in and out of multiple installations of Android just as you would on a desktop computer.
The technology behind SwitchMe saves all of your applications and data, protects it and stores it as a file in memory. You can then log out of an account and log into a fresh installation of Android or another account with its own unique content.
You may create as many profiles as the memory is capable of holding. Some of these may require very little free memory because they contain few apps, others will be larger as they contain many applications and lots of cache and data."

Hi, im one of the developers. Please report back! Does it work well?
Ive triednit and its a great idea. Works for me. I like it because ibhave a toddler abdbibcan have an instance with just her apps without her getting into root apps.

Worked for me. i have not tried different ROMS bu
t i will later. This is a great idea..
Im the dev, let me know how it goes!
I marveled at the concept and gave it a try yesterday only to find myself boot looped and almost unable to recover from backup despite formatting data, system, dalvik, cache. I'm running juggernaught 4.1 with the supplied bullet kernel and the ics ultimate theme. I created a profile, named it. Created a second profile named it. Then I tried logging into the second profile and the looping began. Granted I was hasty at the idea of having 2 completely different roms on my device and switching between them at will, and didn't do much reading before I gave it a go. So far, I've only come across one other similar report, but have not done any further research into the why.
i just tried it worked perfectly ive never seen anything like this and it switches fast

Its just important to remember and keep an eye out for how much space you have in your phone/SD card.

Same issue has above. Running jugs 4.1 , supplied bullet kernal, and a sensation 3 port for theme. Named the current and named the second profile. Tried to switch and went through bootloops. So a nandroid back up fixed that problem. I want to try again. And for the dev of this app. If you made it compatible for having different roms on each, might be best app of the year if you got it to work with the sgs2
Sent from my SGH-T989 using XDA App
I've notice that the two reports of bootloop had bullet and jugs running.idk, maybe it has something to do with it.
From a galaxy better than yours.
I had dewizzed. And darkside kernel. And no problems. If you actually read the op. For the Dec, it states somewhere that if you don't have enough memory your phone will bootloop.

I have enough space i am sure of it but just to make sure what is an averge space that it needs. 1 gb or two?

multiple roms?
for the sake of clarity and for the record, does this app allow for bootong into multiple rom installations? I've read either vague or conflicting information in blog reviews, here, and in the market reviews.
No same to
Rom.

I was reading it'll warn you if you are low on space. I think 1 Gabi is more than enough.

Hmm ill have to maybe try a different rom and report back if it doesnt work again. Maybe there is a systematic way of doing it on the 4.1 juggs. Id hate to get rid if it since it is the most stable one out

Jugs 4.1 seems to be the issue. Started running android zombie and switchme works like a charm now. First time you switch takes some time but after that Italy relatively fast. Gonna use a second profile for when battery is low and just need calls and texts available.

Before anybody flames me, yes, I have searched every forum related to this issue. I am not a noob, just a lurker, so I don't have enough posts to post this in the development section. Here is my issue. I'm running Task650 and Ktoonsez 4.1.2 (build 11.18.2012) and I am trying to install a working version of google wallet. Before I go on, awesome ROM! I flash others and always come crawling back. Anyway, I've tried every variation on getting this to work out there, with no luck. This where I am at now. I can edit my build prop and get the market version of Wallet to work, but obviously it won't once I change my build prop back. If I try to flash the AT&T Modaco zip, I loose NFC in my setting menu. If I try to install the Modaco apk, it acts like its installing it, and at the end I get an "App didn't install" message at the end". My question is, how can I get this to work? If I can't, what exactly is the effect of leaving my build prop set on Nexus? Is it possible to flash the zip file, then extract something from an ota that I can flash to give me back NFC, but leave the rest of the changes the Mocado zip makes alone? If anyone can help me, I pretty much always donate to developers whose hard work I benefit from. Please help if you can. I am stubborn as gravity and will either get this to work or brick my phone trying.
Oh yeah, Its an AT&T phone.
I'm on the same ROM and have not encountered issues. Flash the modaco zip instead of installing, edit your build.prop, then reboot and add your card in the wallet app. After the card is added you can revert the build.prop.

I must have had a corrupt version of the file. I tried again and instead of loosing nfc, or wallet not showing up, the installation aborted. I redownloaded and reflashed with no issues. Thanks!
Glad to hear it! Remember, if you ever switch ROMs always reset the Google wallet app before flashing the new ROM.

One more question. Have yuo had any issue with nfc toggling off randomly since flashing this? It seemed to be working fine but what I have noticed is that if I haven't used nfc for maybe twenty minutes, it toggles off. Its still checked, but I have to uncheck it and recheck it to get it to work. I usually set it to stay on even when my screen is off, and haven't had any issues with it before, even when the phone is asleep. I could write a tasker workaround, I suppose, but I would rather just fix it.
I did notice that occasionally the NFC settings become unavailable. A reboot always fixes it for me.

The new google maps has been FC'ing like crazy on me when I try to use Navigation. It will eventually work after multiple FC's, but it rarely works right off the bat. Anyone else having this problem or is it just me? I'm rooted on tounchwiz.
No problems here just used navigation last night. And have the same set up rooted w/TW.. Not one force close! Might wanna try clearing data in the app, might help your problem!:what:

I've had problems. It doesn't seem to like the back button, or running in the background as its frozen a couple of times I've tried switching over and back from another program. I haven't tried again since the update earlier this week so some of the problems may have been fixed there. I figure with any major update like this, most likely needs time to work the kinks out.
If you can't even get it open, I suggest removing maps and reinstalling from the market, or if you're on a custom ROM, you can try clearing cache and Dalvik a couple of times and "dirty" flashing your current version again. That's fixed a lot of problem in the past. If that doesn't work, clean flashing is a good idea, not to mention half the fun of hanging out here on XDA.

I have the same problem as op. I disabled some of map's processes in autostarts to prevent battery drain a long time ago though, so I guess that may be my problem. (It all worked great with the last version of maps which I preferred.) I'm also still on Cleanrom 4.0.5 so I plan to do a fresh install of 4.9 just in case since I also have issues with my stock browser crashing lately.

Gapps failure is the best way I can describe my problem. About a week ago my nexus 7 decided to reboot itself while I was in the middle of some gaming (asphalt 8 I think). I took it as just you know the system needed it and said whatever.
The next day some apps start having problems. Specifically Google play apps. Then all of a sudden my nexus reboots and starts boot looping on the 4 colored balls part of the boot animation and then keeps going Google then balls. Back and forth.
I used nexus toolkit (v1.8.0 I think) to reboot the device in adb then ended up reflashing stock because the problems persisted.
Now the device is not bootlooping but every few mins some app force closes or pops up saying jot responding. Or even 7-10 different popups...
Idk what to do now. Please help?
NOTE:
This nexus 7 was purchased around Christmas time at my local best buy. It has been unlocked and rooted. Only things I ever did was use titanium backup to restore some game data from my phone. Never did anything more than that! And I guessed maybe a virus (if there is any such thing on android) did this but kaspersky reports no malware of any kind.
Apps and processes that fail:
Google play
Play music
Play books
Play games
Play magazine
Google+
Gmail
Google currents
Play movies
Google search
Google keyboard
Google text to speech
I don't remember the processes that crash so when they do I will update you on what they are. Please help!

What I would recommend that you do is use the nexus root toolkit to install twrp recovery manager then boot into recovery manager and try clearing cache and everything but dont clear data and see if that helps.
If after you try that the problem still persists then boot into recovery manager and wipe everything....cache, Dalvik, and data.
By wiping data you will have removed your apps but they can easily be reinstalled with google play. You can use titanium backup to restore game data.
Oh and give this a try first...create a new gmail account and add that account under settings and see if that fixes anything. If under the new account you dont see any problems try switching back to your original account and see if the problems go away.
Hope it helps...

Thanks droidshadow for your response. Seeing how no one else commented this really must be an issue with my device. Not widely known. I attempted your solutions to no avail so I will be sending it to Asus. Hopefully they will give me a nice unit back that has no problems.

You did get TWRP on it? You could go all out with a custom ROM. In any case this looks like a simple enough issue to fix. Go to settings > apps > scroll right to all > now scroll down to Google Play Services, click on it and then clear cache. Now go down to Google Play and clear data, clear cache and then force stop. Ignore any misbehaving warning you may see. Now go open Google Play and re-register if asked. Let me know of if this helps.
What's going on should not require you to send it in. Worst case you do a complete factory reset with fastboot and not some tool.

Thank you for your tips. I actually did clear cashe and data on the services and even on other apps that randomly shut off. It temporarily fixed the issue for about an hour then all issues came back.
I have reset with nexus toolkit, I have factory reset while on the tablet. And I have also erased everything in the stock recovery.
It sounds like a simple issue but its not being resolved! I thought about just putting on cm11 or something but not sure if that would fix it considering these problems persist. Even with a different gmail account on it.
