Howto? map/mount SD IN XDA to drive on PC to download mp3?

What I'm trying to do:
Place XDA in cradle, let sync run. Place audio CD in the desktop PC. Use Windows media player and select "Copy from CD". I would like to have the default copy location set to "MDAIII/Storage Card/" but I can not figure out how to do this. With this set up I could dock MDAIII, insert music CD, press 'copy' on WMP and then all the files would just end up on the SD card of the MDAIII. I wouldn't need to do file transfers or anything else. Again I'm trying to do this for my wife so it is as simple as dock-insert CD-press button-done!
I am using Windows Media Player and I would like to make the default "save to" location the SD card in my XDA/MDAIII. I have tried setting up files syncing but it doesn't have the SD card listed, only "My Docs" are sync'd. I tried to create a short cut on the XDA in the 'My Documents' folder but it doesn't sync the short cut to my desk top.
Anyone know how to map/mount the XDA as a USB drive and then have something on the PC like N:/MDAIII/Storage Card/ that could be browsed to?
Thanks,
Paul.
Havent tried this myself but:
Once the device is connected via Activesync, you can explore (via Activesync) to is. Cant you create a drive mapping from there (via menu Extra I guess) just like you can do with network drives?
Also, the device is accesible via the 'normal' windows explorer. I think you can navigate there as well
Yes I can explore there and it does show up when using File Explorer. In Explorer I see my C, D, E, Control Panel and Mobile Device. I can double click down into it with no problem. But when I open Windows Media Player and select Tools/Options/Copy Music/change (copy music to this location), it only lists C, D and E drives, no Mobile device.
I then, in File Explorer, tried to map network drive but it would not allow me to browse to My Computer, only My Network. I was going to type in the path but I'm not sure what the path would be???
C:/???????/Mobile~?
Any ideas?

Click to collapse
In WINMedPlayer you choose "copy to CD or Device" on the left, and on the upper right their is a dropdown to specify CD Burner or Mobile Device.
iggy,
Maybe my brain isn't working today: With your suggestion I can now see the MDAIII storage card as a Copy to location but I can not see my CDROM drive as an input. I would like to copy directly from the CD to the XDA and skip the PC save step. Is it only possible to copy to the desktop and then do a second step to download the info to the XDA?
Thanks,
Paul.

[Q] All files not showing on PC

I have tried with file manager and found the files i was looking for in android/data/something but when i connect my GN to my PC (win7 32bit) i only get a few folders and files,
I have tested with both USB modes and I only get the basic folders such as
Alarms, Android, DCIM, Downloads, Movies, Music, Notifications, Pictures, Podcasts, Ringtones.
and the file manager reports more folders present :/
also the files i'm trying to access are within the android folder (which is visible on PC) but in filemanager there are 10-20 folders found in android/data that are missing on PC. PC only shows 3 folders in android/data
It also appears to be possible for other users to access the exact same file at the exact same filepath, why can't I?
is there a feature on GN or ICS that makes it impossible to access some files from the PC or is this a bug/flaw?
in case you guys need to know what files i'm trying to access, it's the game files to GTAIII
I kind of have a similar problem.
When i connect my phone to a windows 7 computer it mounts okey and shows me the files. If I create a folder on the phone from windows explorer, unmounts the device, I can not see this folder on the phone via a file manager unless i reboot my phone. This also applies the other way around. If I create a folder on the phone from a file manager, then mount the phone to the computer, I can not see the folder until I reboot my phone.
Is there a fix for this? Is it a bug? How can i resolve this? It's very frustrating.
MTP/PTP doesn't offer all the features the full USB transfer mode has. Search will help you find the pros and cons of this.
Workaround: Use an app like WiFi File Explorer or Airdroid.

[Q] Can't see wifi transferred files

Strange issue there... I use FTP server app from Olive Tree to transfer files (mostly MP3 files) on Gnex. I switch on Ftp server, run filezilla on PC and the files are successfully copied. But, if I open Music Player or "3" player, music is not recognized. So I connect Gnex with USB cable to my LinuxMint 13 and folder "Music" (where I have downloaded files) is empty. So I connect Gnex with USB cable with win7 and the folder "Music" is empty. But, if I open folder "Music" with file explorer directly on Gnex, the files are correctly there, and if I open them from there, they are played without any problem. Why? Is there a way to fix that?
Tnx
up.. nobody have the same issue? Or any idea?

Cannot access .Hidden folders via usb connection?

I keep uh...a few hidden folders on my phone for certain files i dont want loaded in general apps (gallery, video player, etc)
However ive noticed that sense flashing to a custom rom (codename android 2.0 RC) im not able to access these folders via MTP USB connection to my PC. Its not a huge deal, as i can access the files and move it to the appropriate folder but is there a fix for this? i have a folder called .stuff that i cannot access via my PC...but can via root explorer.
Are you using Windows or Linux?
Linux, you could need to press ctrl and h to view hidden data.
Windows, you would have to change your explorer preferences...
You could also just put a .nomedia file in the folder you don't want media players to see.
Using windows.
They aren't set to be hidden in properties.
Just when you put a . In front of the folder name it hides it from media players in android.
Putting a no media file inside will hide all the files as opposed to just hiding the folder from say dice player. As it has a toggle to show hidden folders. It was perfect. Just cant access the .folders in windows anymore. Is this a cm9 bug? Didn't have this issue on my stock rom

Cant see all files in my Music Folder

I have always been able to transfer music from my computer to my nexus5X's Music folder with no problem. Today, something isnt working right. When I plug the 5X into my computer and select File Transfers, I can see all my files on the 5X. When I select the Music folder, it opens but only shows 237 songs. When i look at the folder on the 5X is shows 1016 songs. For some reason when connected to the computer it cant see all the files in the music folder. Also, when I try to copy a file to the music folder windows give me an error and says "The device has stopped responding or has been disconnected" If i try to copy is somewhere else on the 5X it works. I just can send it to the music folder and it not showing me all the files in that folder. What can I do to fix this? The phone is stock and un-rooted.
