Earphones with more than one button - General Accessories

Hi,
I am looking for earphones that will have more than one button that work with android?
Can someone suggest a model that works?
Regards

Whether the button functionality works actually depends on the phone and apps you are using, so you might want to look into that before you invest in the headphones.

Alternatively, any 1-button headphone+"Headset Button Controller" app= fully programmable functionality.

ive not seen that being the case, from what ive read here http://www.instructables.com/id/Galaxy-Nexus-and-others-headset-remote-with-medi/ its a power level difference and iphones are set to use one set of levels and everyone else uses another. Ive tried so many headphones in the stores and from friends that are branded iphone compatible with more than one button and none of them have worked on any of my android phones. as for android/nokia/etc compatible ive not been able to find any in stores here in Canada, only online.

I've been looking for some in-ears with volume control that work on Android.
I ended up on these:
http://www.amazon.com/Philips-SHE80...id=1343333869&sr=8-1&keywords=philips+she8005
Philips She8005. I just bought these and not only the volume control works on my Samsung Captivate Glide, but it has another button to stop calls. They both work.
I didn't check the mic.
Anyway the product is said to be compatible with almost every brand and I'm very satisfied for now. It is not even expensive.
Hope it helps.

I just got a pair of Samsung EHS60 from eBay, and for the price you cant go wrong.

Seem like a good deal.

Hi!
Have you tried it out yet? I sow some people complaining about software compatibility, that it only let you control Windows Media Player. Does anybody know if this remote let you control the HTC AudioManger application, as this is a much better MP3 player than the old WMP.
Regards,
PK
Dear,
I just take it from this web, and I found It's can used with 2 program
1 is WMP and the other is HTC Audio Manager(but you need install drive that come with package). It's very good smalltalk and remote control but I used p800w It's can't used HTC Audio booster, that made me sad because I like Bass Boost.
Have Any one have Base Boost that can used and work with p800w?
Thanks a lot.

Hi, it sort of works. When I got the package, there was a sticker over the supported models - the O2 Xda Orbit was "not" supported. As I had changed the ROM to the HTC generic version, I loaded the drivers and plugged it in. The adapter works, and I can use normal headphones BUT none of the buttons on the remote function with the O2 XDA
The Artemis and the XDA may just be that little bit different (more than just the case) which may be why they put a sticker over the supported models info. By the way, it was sold as an Artemis accessory and not an O2 XDA accessory, so I cant really send it back.
Therefore, if anyone in the UK has an Artemis (not an O2 XDA) and wants the adapter, they can buy it off me for £15 plus postage. It is brand new, used once, in its original box with driver disk. If you want to pay by PayPal, it's £2 extra to cover the fees, otherwise NOCHEX or direct bank transfer.

no, they are the same phone, hardware wise. I have the remote and a O2 XDA Orbit and it works. You just need to install the HTC Audo Driver update for the P3300. Otherwise, the remote won't work when the phone switches off to save power. This stupid bug affects all apps, including in the middle of a phone conversation. I think that is mainly the reason for the audio driver update. I don't have the HTC Audio Manager, anyone know how I can get hold of it?
The remote works with WMP. It also works with the FM Radio app, pressing play mutes it (rather than the mute button on the side), volume control (not the main phone volume) works, FF/FR switches between preset stations.
The green/red phone buttons works even when running other apps like TomTom or TCPMP. But non of the other soft buttons can be mapped to functions in TCPMP or any other program for that matter as they don't exist like your average hardware buttons on the phone itself. So as a result, you can't assign a button to activate Voice Dial or Voice Command.
The other problem is more to do with the new ExtMiniUSB port. I cannot charge the phone while I listen to the radio or mp3s for that matter! Compare to older generations of HTC phones which has a mini usb + separate 2.5mm headphone socket, this is quite stupid as I believe many ppl charge their phone via USB at work and also listen to the mp3s.
Ok, i was wondering why HTC was giving such strange answers about the useless power consumption.
HTC > (there will be no update to solve this, because it is not knowing issue.)???
Its strange behavior in my opinion when the phone wakes up completely after touching one of the buttons and never goes to sleep again. Not even switches the screen off. It uses more energy that way.
I’ve made a application for this problem just to switch the screen completely off after using the buttons on the remote. It runs in the background and waits for a change in the SystemPowerState. When the backlight dims it will switch of the screen after 1 second.
I can’t prevent the device from waking up but this works good enough.
Next step is to hook in to the remote interface driver and make the buttons act like normal devicebuttons so it would be possible to use another MP3 player. But I ‘m afraid my knowledge about this is not enough. Maybe someone can help me with that.

Oh well, sorry to hear that didn't help. I received my remote on the 17th, noticed it didn't work too well even after installing the driver that came with the remote. Then found the news that Audio Driver Update was release on the 16th so I got the download and it worked from then on.
it tries to you works in stereo
Works fine
I'm been using the rc for 2 weeks now and one must say it's working exactly the way I expected it to. The only lil hitch is the missing "stand-by" so you waste some amount of battery.
Maybe it's possible to check with a small service whether Audio Manager is running in playback mode and react e.g. with turning of background lights.
I'll give it a try next week in office (need my VS).
Anybody with experience?
wold you recommend one then?

For me it's working without drivers with HTC Audiomanager, WMP and with the FM radio and it's fine to use my own headphones.
HTC's stupid headphone/power socket combo & ultimatum
Dear HTC,
Please, if your are not the appropriate person to be considering my email, pass it on to someone who can adequately able to address my concerns.
Briefly, I am a huge fan of HTC handsets, having been a the proud owner of no less than 5 different models in the last 3 years.
My particular issue is with the HTC TYTN and TYTN II (or Kaiser) models. I am far from alone in this concern, as a simple Google search will reveal, so I am not going to waste time justifying myself. I'll launch immediately into the criticism and the request for an explanation, etc...
2 years ago, my first TYTN had to be replaced after 3 months because the ill-conceived combo-headphone-power mini USB socket became faulty. After 13 months it became faulty again. Since it was out of guarantee, i had to repair it myself. A month later however, when the socket once again broke, I installed a separate headphone socket in the side of the case myself, it was easy... TOO easy...
Since then my original TYTN has been fine.
A few weeks ago, I purchased the new TYTN II or Kaiser. I knew beforehand that the headphone and power sockets were once again the same. However, I assumed that they would have been strengthened due to the bad pres the previous model had received over this issue.
I was sadly mistaken. Within 3 weeks I have had to replace my TYTN II after the headphones started crackling when I moved the headphone cable. After examination, the mini-USB socket is IDENTICAL to the original TYTN,and bending in the same way. I have now stopped recommending this phone to people due to this. Either you don't intent users of this handset to use headphones, or you dont care that the socket isn't up to the job!
Considering that I influence thousands of people through my website in their choice of hanset upgrades, I am sure that HTC will feel the financial blow of my decision, at least slightly.
My questions are as follows:
1.) Why, after all the bad press the initial single connector design got, did HTC decide to do exactly the same stupid thing with the Kaiser (TYTN II)?
2.) Are you prepared to issue me, free of charge, with a a
brand new model, with a SEPARATE headphone socket, for which I will write an article in the magazine I work for singing your praises and recommending your improved Kaiser II, with the separate stereo headphone socket?
I formally give you 7 days to reply to my satisfaction, considering I have spent nearly £1000 with you. Failing to do so will result in a loss of revenue to yourselves totaling at least many hundreds of thousands of dollars/pounds.
Sincerely
Lawrence Bowen
Those with the remote who want to save power when using it as an mp3 player, use MortSaver. basicall you can set it to turn screen off after a predetimend time. Therfore every time you use your remote, it normally turns on the sreen, and never turns off wasting battery whlle its sitting in your pocket.
Mort saver turns if off again after each use of the remote, so you can leave it in your pocket with the knowledge you are not draining you battery.
now Ill I need is some equalizer I can use with Mediaplayer!

With the attached file you have some kind of equalizer. Your using an equalizer to optimize the sound and this prog. realy does the trick!

Cheers already found this and its on the latest touch 4.01 ROM.
combination with Mortsaver and 8G SDHC card now makes the HTC3300 a very usable MP3 Player

[Q] Klipsch S4i headset remote control doesn't work

Hello everyone,
I just received my epic touch last saturday.I can't use the control button with the repic touch. When I click the middle button, there is no action. I know that the volumn control doesn't work with android. However, the middle button can play, pause and answer call. I use my headset with my old HTC evo and it work fine. Does anyone have the same problem with me? I don't know if it's a bug or I got a defective phone. Thank you very much guys.
Does anyone use this phone with headset? Does your headset control work fine? I looked for this problem on google and found out that the Klipsch s4i work fine with the international galaxy S2 version.
Same thing happening to me...center button does not work with my s4i headset.
I tried a few headset control apps from the market, but still will not work.
Ditto here with both Skullcandy and Koss earbuds. Control button does squat except launch the stupid voice control app after holding for a few seconds. Headset Droid doesn't even detect button presses.

Thank you everyone for your reply. I just afraid that I got a defective GS2. I know the S4i is designed for ipod. However, the middle control button work fine for most of the android. I also bought the headset droid control on the market and I could do a lot of things with the control except for the volumn. SO this is a bug for GS2. Hope samsung will fix it soon.
My skullcandy button does nothing either. Oh well. I like to use the phone right now cause everyone asks "ooh what's that?"
The s4i used to work flawlessly with my evo. I was able to change volume, pause, play, and slip tracks. Now I can't do any of the above. ButI noticed that if you hold the middle button it'll bring out the voice command.
mine either

Hmm my s4i's have worked with my previous android phones although I rarely play music from my phone...ill check it out later today and maybe try some apps on the market...fyi only the play pause button worked..apple and their patents :-(

same goes for shure remote
I think shure only makes one remote for all. This has worked fine for me with iphone, ipad, blackberry, webos, and 2 HTC android phones.
Sucks that Samsung went this route for a crappy feature like video out on headphone jack. I knew this device was too good to be true and now I may have to swap it out for another.
As a note: the button won't answer the phone, but the mic does work in-call.

[Q] a-JAYS One+ Accessory not supported

Ok, I just bought a pair of a-JAYS One+ earphones for their "supposed" Android compatibility. Unfortunately, when I plug them in I just get "Accessory not supported".
Is there anyway to make them to work? Android won't even play any sound out of them.
whats gonig on is not with 'android' but with 'sony'... they went the extra mile in making sure their product isn't 'penetrated' by any devices other than sony brand. the phone should have came with a short adapter which clearly states it supports non-sony accessories. im still searching how to fix this on stock rom but my bootloader is unlocked (paid, thanks again jinx) and with other roms like cm7.2 the error and issue does not occur.

So it's not a hardware problem but a software problem? The phone could actually support it if it wasn't for Sony?
I tried these headphones on CM 7.2.0 and they barely worked. In fact they only worked when you pressed the mic button, I think they are incompatible overall due to Sony having a different voltage on their headset jack

they dont work because they have a attachment for controlling the phone which pretty much rules them out straight away.
short story sony change the voltages to **** with 90% of headphones besides there own brand
the only headphones i can personally recommend are sennnhieser hd202 as they work perfectly for me without an adapter.
i dont even have an adapter actually so i cant try others but it seems that you need a decent pair of headphones or sony ericsson. (by decent i mean a very good make of high quality audio equipment)

Sorry, I didn't mean to waste your time. Turns out the original headset was available at my local Samsung so I bought one from there. I was misinformed when I first inquired that I would need to place a special order for them and it could take a couple of months because the phone was only just launched and there wouldn't be any spare sets for a long time. I checked a few mobile accessory stores for an equivalent set but no-one had any with the digital encoder type volume control which I'm told is proprietary. Could be wrong about that but most sets with a VC seem to be just a variable resistance.
I actually think these phones sound pretty good and I've tried dozens of them over the years so I think they are worth keeping. In case it's of interest Samsung charge $38/- for them here in Singapore.
Thanks for the helpful offer and please accept my apology again if I wasted your time.

NFC tags for the S3

So which NFC tags have you purchased that work well?
EDIT: Probably should've posted this in the Accessories forum. Mods - feel free to move this if it isn't Kosher.
I bought a 5-pack of the Samsung TecTiles and they work great. They allow for 1K storage which is good if you plan on putting a lot of data or things on them.
Purchased some from tag stand a while back, they come in different sizes and they work fine with the s3
Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
How much did you guys pay? Wondering if there's any real difference between the different brands besides size.
I got them for around $15, they came in different sizes.
something like this: http://www.tagstand.com/collections/nfc-kits/products/nfc-hobbyist-starter-kit-15-stickers
Is it just me or are the official TecTiles almost worthless?
Is seems they can each only do 1 single function and the phone needs to be unlocked to activate them.
For instance, say I have the TT programmed to connect to a specific WiFi network. This only works if WiFi is turned on and the phone isn't already locked. You can't have it:
a) Turn on WiFi first
b) Connect to a specific network.
Instead, you have to unlock phone, and turn on WiFi manually. Makes it kind of pointless to just TAP and be done with it.
Maybe its just the Samsung app, it's extremely limited. Are there better apps?
