Hi all,
I am looking to customise my Google Nexus 7 theme but one thing I find very frustrating is the widgets push one another about.
Is anyone able to advise of an app that allows them to overlap/be put where I want?
Thanks
Try Nova launcher
+1, Nova Launcher allow this to ahppen, even allows you too place them onto when your adding a widget to homescreens.

I use ssLauncher as it allows complete control over placement and lots more.

Is there any way or tweak to increase number of rows or columns in DHD Sense? I didn't find that option in Settings. I mean something similar you can do using ADW Launcher. DHD screen is big, having just 4x4 icon number is ridiculous. Even if you push all apps button, you can see 5 rows already on the screen.
ADW Launcher or Launcher Pro is not a solutions for me, as then you need to look for various alternative widgets and other stuff, that is already so nicely designed within Sense.
Any clue?

Thanks for prompt answer. It is interesting concept (on the pictures it is used with ADW Launcher) which I can get into during some more creative mood ...Anyway it doesn't have to be solved now (I guess this issue could be one of the reasons ADW and Launcher Pro were ever made), but small neat app just asking something like 4x5 or 5x5 or 6x5, etc... would be so cool.
Decided to use SIMI folders. Not exactly what I was looking for, but still easy and elegant solution.

Well, it is system information tool, I am not looking for such a stuff, need desktop adjustment tool/organizer within Sense UI.
Well, here is some update on solutions which I found in the meantime:
1. this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=915472 is exactly what I was looking for, though installation instructions are not easy to follow.
2 Going to try this one http://h9kdroid.com/multicon/, no brainer.
Can this be done? Is it on in ROMS other than stock? Why would it ever be disabled anyway.
Use apex or Nova launchers. No idea why anyone would stick with the touch wiz launcher
There is a mod in theme/mod section, but it may not work with ota.

That's it? It's the stupid touchwiz that causes this issue?!

Worked!!! It's called "Ultimate rotation control"
I like the Nova launcher too...it's very fast. But I somehow lost the Accuweather time widget when I went to Nova. I tried to get it form the market but it doesn't look the same. Wife's phone so I can't justify changing the appearance that much for rotations sake. Otherwise, if I could have put the same exact Accuweather widget back on, I think I would have left Nova on.
Edit: Spoke to soon. Ultimate is only free for 7 days.
2nd Edit: Found another one called "Rotation locker"
I like Holo Launcher HD. No lag, customizable, more options (like auto rotate) plus you can still use the Note 2 touchwiz widgets if you want.

I tried the Holo launcher and still couldn't find that stupid accuweather widget. Sigh.
I ended up going with Novo launcher and finding a different weather widget from the Playstore.

That's what I did. I changed over to Nova Launcher and also Fancy Widgets to use a weather clock/widget.
I did like the Weather clock on Touchwiz but what bothered me was , having used HTC Sense for quite a while, I am used to touching the time and going to the alarm, but with Touch Wiz, no matter where I touched, I'd goto weather.
I used Apex launcher on stock. It helped until I got a phone call in my car with the phone docked. The Phone app doesn't want to rotate! :/
If you're rooted....check out the MOD TW 360 rotation
I'm running rooted deoxed TW with multi view and the MOD worked fine.

I have another widget I found which is very very nice. I don't think it let's you go to alarm by touching the time though.

Fancy Widgets let you set what program got called depending on what you pressed but I couldn't find a widget that I was happy with.
I ended up using HD Widgets and and used one of their weather clocks. While it doesn't let you specify the programs for where you touch, it has a very nice weather page built in(even allows you to select int weather ino provider) that works when you touch any of the weather and goes to the alarm when you touch the time.
So I'm using Nova Launcher, HD Widgets and also Android Pro Widgets for things like a Timeline widget(I was using APW on Touchwiz too).

Nice. I will take a look.
Hi so i installed the Sony Walkman apk onto the one v but i dont like the icon its the original orange "W".
Can someone give me a link with downloadable icons and instructions?
Thank You!
sorry there is nothing like that, you cannot change a unique icon from app drawer but from home screen with the help of nova launcher/ apex launcher you can change by long pressing on it and selecting edit option then you may choose what icon you want, still if you want to change icon from app drawer then you have to download whole icon pack for apex/nova by this it will change all icon in app drawer
im not using apex or nova launchers nor do i want to use them!
A thread over an icon change? Its that bothering? Wow lmao and you can't do anything unless you use a different launcher or are smart with apk tools. (Need to be rooted)

I am creating my personal theme with Zooper Pro and Nova launcher.
There is one thing i can't find how to do it. I'd like to add a shortcut to the app drawer (of Nova) as an onTap-action for my widget.
The reason for this is that i'd like to get rid of the Nova dock.
How can i do this?
Hi,
Choose Nova Launcher from Shortcuts, you are then presented with a list of Nova actions, App Drawer being one of them.
Regards Mark.

Sorry to hijack but can this feature be done with Themer launcher? I keep looking in the list of shortcuts but for the life of me I cant seem to find how to do it.

Thanks a lot. Works like a charm now.
I didn't know you get more options when you choose Nova launcher in shortcuts.
@jonnyg1097,
Doesn't Themer use widgets from Zooper to combine them into a theme? Maybe you can add a Zooper widget to your theme.

Simple, minimal and N.
Matches the mint green robin nicely
Just got the phone yesterday, loving the size! Not done yet but here are 2 screenshots, one is the stock launcher and the other is nova. Nova is plain I know but I hate change and have been using this layout for years.
I really like the stock launcher I wish I could theme the other icons to match. I like the mint green.

Is there any way to get a clean desktop on the Robin without changing launchers? I like to use photos of my family and pets as wallpaper but am stumped by the lack of an app drawer on the stock launcher.

Sorry, I don't know how to do that on the stock launcher.
It's difficult for me to use the stock launcher thoughtfully.
Nova Launcher
Praos Icon Pack
Chronus Forecast with Marshmallow Weather Icons
Nova Search Widget
Sleep as Android Alarm and Sleep Tracking Widget
Each icon on the desktop and dock is a folder matching a folder in the app drawer; each one corresponds to a category of app. A tap opens the first, or most used, app in each folder, and all other apps are available with a swipe.

They're from Sleep as Android. One displays the next alarm time, and the other activates the app's sleep tracking features. All I did to get them there was I enabled widget overlap in Nova Launcher, and then I placed them. You have to kind of finagle the widget sizes to get that spacing, but it's not hard.
