So I am on DoomKernel for CDMA. And I have flashed the DoomKernel wifi modules V2.... this was all months ago. Lately though about once a week my wifi goes back to saying "error" under settings and I have to reflash the modules again. In addition to that now constantly throughout the day my wifi drops. It causing me to pull my hair out when I am dropping wifi every 2-5 minutes. It happens at work, home, families houses etc. Doesnt matter where I am. This is driving me nuts.
Does anyone have a solution for this? Also, if I remmber right wasnt there a CDMA kernel that was modded by DoomLord to have only overclock? No recovery? Also, just to mention, I have reflashed DoomKernel multiple times and same results I end up back in this situation..... suggestions anyone?
anyone else on DoomKernel having similar issues?

I have, reflashed the kernel, reflashed the wifi modules. In fact when it drops it, actually not dropped it just goes to 3G and everytime it does that under wireless settings it sayd Error..... despite the fact that 5 minutes earlier wifi was fine.
Anyways, flashing both kernel and wifi modules (yes doomkernel not stock modules) will get it to work for anywhere from 2-5 days then it does it again..... each time I just go back into recovery flash the modules and it works, but again couple days later repeat.... its weird. I have email DoomLord on it some time ago but never got a response. Speaking if that..... anyone know if DoomLord plans on releasing a newer kernel based on 2.3.4 (I am on 2.3.3 as 2.3.4 is a trainwreck.... probably why no updated kernel yet.)
I think he's moved on to a new/better device

I think v14 is the final build. Or maybe you try rolling back to stock, factory reset and reflash?

First Android phone, so I still getting up to speed so hoping someone could answer a couple quick questions. I'll start with the questions and then give the history.
1) How do you determine what ROM you have installed?
2) Any ideas why 4G won't connect? Is there any way to troubleshoot this?
3) Is there anyway to tether on 4G?
So I dove right in after purchasing this phone and flashed a ROM (Zedomax) so I could tether. After installing this ROM my battery life went down the drain and it wouldn't hold a charge for more than 6 hours.
So then I flashed the EG30 stock kernel and my battery life returned to normal. Still wanting to tether I tried another ROM (don't remember which one). This ROM had the same battery issues so I once again flashed the stock kernel back to my phone.
So now my battery life is great, but 4g won't connect (i'm in NYC) for a few days now. I've tried pulling battery, want what not to no success.
I believe I am running the stock kernel, but to my surprise I still have root access. No triangle on the home screen and ODIN says I'm using the Samsung Official binary.
Just to clarify, you are flashing kernels, not ROMs. Zedomax is a kernel, EG30 is a kernel, etc. You can find your current kernel version under Settings > About phone > Kernel version.
Also as an FYI, I wouldn't be going all willy nilly flashing kernels that you can't remember the name of. I'd have to imagine that's a good way to possibly brick your phone or have problems like you are with 4G.
I'm no expert on this stuff by any means but I'd probably recommend flashing Bubby's stock kernel or chris41g's version of it that is packaged up with CWM. These will get you back to the stock kernel (assuming you're not there already) and probably get your 4G working. Otherwise you probably need to update your PRL or something along those lines. Someone who actually knows more about this stuff (i.e. not me) may have a better suggestion for you.
Thanks.
Kernel version is 2.6.35.7-SPH-D710.EG30-CL435734
Is that stock?

Yep! 10 char
Cool.
So flashing to chris41g's or Bubby's kernels probably won't help me. I'll go searching to figure out how to update my PRL but if anyone has any other ideas I'd be grateful.
Also does anyone know if it is possible to tether over 4G? I was never able to connect unless I turned off 4g before tethering.
It is working again. I started over and flashed Stock-EG30.tar and all is good now.
Out of curiosity did you update your system profile after you flashed? I think it's recommended to do that every time you flash a new kernel.
Settings > About phone > System updates then choose update profile.
Edit - Ahh cool looks like you got it worked out. Cheers!
Nope, I never updated my system profile. That could of been a fix....
Interestingly enough, I was retracing my steps after going stock, after each step I checked 4G connectivity. I lost 4G after enabling AdAway. So I disabled (each change requires a reboot) and got 4G back after the boot. I enabled it again hoping to be able to isolate the issue but after that next reboot I got 4G access with AdAway enabled.
Can't say it is AdAway, but after toggling it, I got 4G back.
im having a issue i just flashed the prerooted deodexed no ciq gps fix ei22 and the modem and im having an issue with wifi disconnecting then reconnecting or wifi and 3g connecting at the same time , now mabey its just the modded version of ei22 i flashed or what it is i dunno but i would appriciate any info on a possible fix cause i really like the way 2.3.5 is running besides that
I have the same issue but I have also had it on ACS ICS v1 and v2

I had the same issue. I had a nandroid backup of the prerooted stock EI22 and reverted back to it. My wifi connection has been rock solid since.
I am suspecting it's due to this new "gps fix" that's floating around, or something in the nubernel kernel since I didn't start having the issue until after I installed that kernel and gps fix (did both at the same time) yesterday.
Are you guys both running custom kernels or did you install that gps fix zip? I never had this problem in ACS 1.2, even when running custom kernels (twilight, genocide, etc.).
So to reiterate, right now I'm on the prerooted EI22 with EI22 modem. No other zips applied.
Edit: I turned my gps on and forgot about it for a few minutes. My phone suddenly rebooted! I'm going to reapply the gps fix and see if that causes the wifi issue again.

Well, I reapplied the gps fix zip and the wifi hasn't had any problems for the past 20 minutes.

I was getting the wifi/data issue on all of the ROMS, until ERA V3.1. So far this ROM is the most stable as of yet. I anticipate a LOT of flashing coming up over the next few weeks. VERY excited and impressed with all of the improvments in this short amount of time!!
The only thing I've done to "fix" the wifi problem was restore from nandroid.
I think I'll be happy to get rid of this phone at upgrade time. It's always one problem or another.
Edit: I reflashed the nubernel kernel and the wifi problem came back. I even rebooted a few times to make sure. Then I reflashed the nandroid backup and the problem went away.
I have wifi working, but the signal is weak that's for sure. My bigger problem is constantly losing screen responsiveness! My screen will just randomly not respond to my touches. I have to turn off the screen for a minute and turn it back on then MAYBE it will work. Not happy thats for sure.
BTW I'm using the same one as you guys, pre-rooted EI22

My phone has always done that on Froyo, no matter which ROM I was using (though I never used the stock Froyo ROM). Also did it on every Gingerbread rom. I don't know if the digitizer was going bad or what.
Kinda glad to be rid of it - nice phone, but like exspecto said, always something.
I'm have the wi-fi/3g issue as well it runs fine when I'm at home but it flakes out at work. I thought it was an app I was running but now I see that others are having the issue as well. I'm gonna try ERA today to see if it happens again.

No, I don't think you can flash just the kernel.

so i ended up flashing another kernel over numbernels and it fixed my issue ... i think the one i flashed was ics overclock to 1.2
My Arc S randomly reboots itself, some 2-5 times per day.
I have unlocked bootloader, tried 3 custom kernels (ArcKnight, stock 4.1.A.0.562 and stock 4.1.B.0.431 with CWM) each with 3 different roms (JJ hybrid, Arconium ICS and Mooded ICS 90.3) and still the same thing. Does anyone know if it's kernel issue, software issue or something else?
Only thing I haven't changed from my stock rom is the baseband (64).
Any chance it's hardware problem?
well maybe the battery would have been loose enough to connect and disconnect from the phone
Completely flash back to stock using pcc repair, that's probably the best idea for the moment if you still get it, then try and figure out when it happens I.e. is it when the phones hot, when your jumping around or completely random.

Turn off your phone, take out the battery put it back in and boot the phone
but make sure you've charged the phone to about 50% atleast

i took off the back cover and shook the phone violently, it doesn't reboot so i guess it's not the battery connection.

it reboots completely random, sometimes when sitting on the desk, sometimes in the middle of conversation...the heat is normal for the usage situation (no heat when not using the phone). have to see how to use pcc repair, since i haven't used it. i have stock backup made from CWM recovery after unlocking the bootloader and flashing new kernel. maybe i can restore that backup?

undervolting? governor? i even dunno what those things are I just flashed the kernels that i listed above and used them as they are. i had the same problem with all of them, except when i think a bit, i didn't have problems from the very start. there were some rom versions maybe with combination of the apps that i was using at that time that didnt make my phone reboot. i just dont remember which roms and versions they were
Same issue here
Any result yet lalek?
I'm running Mooded ICS 90.7 on my Arc S, with DoomKernel 2.6.32.9, baseband 72, unlocked bootloader and rooted (obviously), and over the past week or so it's been doing random reboots. Sometimes twice a day, sometimes it will go for a few days.
Apps are Titanium Backup, Link2SD, AVG free, Dolphin HD, Superuser, MX Player, and just the usual banking apps, Angry Birds, Gmail etc. It's only rebooted while sitting on the desk sleeping, never while in use. I've uninstalled apps, found it still random reboots so reinstalled them. I'm starting to think its ROM or kernel related.
You should try re-flashing stock ROM ftf file using Flashtool, I recommend 0.587, see link on my signature for ftf file.
Try that for a few days, I'm sure it will be stable, then you can further customize the ROM.
Also be careful of heat if using some sort of tight-fitting case with the phone.
Thanks
I'll try that tonight!
I do have one of those TPU cases and had the phone pretty hot gaming while charging, but it's never hot when it does the reboot.
It will happen when RAM eaten by running application in background. Uninstalling a few apps will be help.
Sorry for my bad english

hi guys,
same problem here on my Xperia Arc
i have worked out what is causing the issue for me.
i ran a logcat that updated live to a file on my sd card so as soon as the device rebooted, it had logged the very last thing that happened on the device.
turns out the last thing happening was WiFi scanning.
i then turned my WiFi off and for the past 3 days i have not experienced a reboot at all!
when this first happened these are the steps i took.
i completely wiped the device (factory reset, wipe dalvik cache, wipe cache partition, format system)
i then flashed Baseband 77 using flashtool
i then flashed fxp149 using flashtool
i then flashed Baseband 77 libs using CWM
i then flashed AOKP JB M1-R1 ROM using CWM
i then flashed gapps using CWM
i the reloaded all apps from the market and not applied any backups and yet it still rebooted all the time.
Since then i have tried using
Fusion 3.8
Fusion 3.9
Fusion 4.0
FXP 148
FXP 150
Stock Kernel inside ROM .zip file.
I have also tried putting it back to Baseband 72 but it made no difference.
I then decided to go all the way back to stock firmware as it is out of the box.
so I used flashtool and flashed LT18i_4.1.B.0.587_(1254-2716).ftf
I reloaded my applications and monitored the device only to see that by the next day, the problem had returned.
THIS IS NOT A ROM OR KERNEL ISSUE!!
or at least it isnt for me, but it sounds EXACTLY the same as what everyone here is experiencing
i advise everyone, no matter what ROM or Kernel you are running to try turning off your wifi or even putting the device in airplane mode for a day and monitor
also try running a live logcat
to do this, open a terminal session and type
su
cd sdcard
logcat >> logcat.txt
then leave the terminal running in the background. (you will have the icon in the notification area that tells you its running)
you can then check your sd card and will see logcat.txt file there
you need to open it in wordpad or something of the sort as notepad doesnt display it nicely enough to read
anyone who tries this i would love to hear how it goes
i am curious to see exactly what is causing this but im starting to think it is a hardware issue.
hope this helps!!

It is a problem with battery connection. It is like a fabrique fault with Arc S. You have it explained here:
xperia-arcs-auto-reboot.blogspot.com
Hi everyone.
I'm having a little problem with my Xperia S, it's kind of new (2 weeks of use).
When I'm using normally the cellphone, everything works great, but if don't use it for a long time and I grab it faster and unlocked it, sometimes the cellphone freezes! Well, not exactly freezing, it still works but VERY slowly, almost like freezing. I can't turn it off with power button, I had to user Power + Volume button to turn it off/restart it.
That happened in first week, so I unlocked bootloader and flash it another kernel (advanced stock kernel), and the problem was there.
Later I made a backup of the firmware (I updated to its last version with PC Companion, ICS btw) and flashed a custom ROM (XTXperience 4), and the problem was still there.
Yesterday I flashed a Generic ICS ROM downloaded from XDA Server using Flashtool, everything went normal until today, when the problem happened again.
I've been searching here in XDA and Google and still nothing seems clear of what is causing the problem, if it's the sim card or maybe a hardware problem. I'm going to relock the bootloader today, and I will try to repair the phone using SUS.
What is causing the cellphone to freeze? Hope someone help me with this. Thanks in advance!
btw, sorry about my english, hope you understand most of what I wrote
Well in my experience,
The phone freezes because it is too hot,
Or the RAM memory suddenly drops.
I mean sudden ur phone's RAM memory is 0.
I'm not sure too.
But I think reflashing the kernel, or flash other kernel will fix the problem
Try it
Sent from my LT26i using xda premium
What ics firmware did you flash? And did you do a complete wipe when flashing?
Sent from my Jellybean Xperia S
I've flashed other kernel and yes, I do a complete wipe when I flash another ROM, via Flashtool or CWM.
I've been thinking of rolling back to GB to see what happens.
Yesterday my phone freezes like 2 or 3 times in less than 15 minutes. First time I reboot the phone and it was ok like 5 minutes, then it freezes. I reboot again the phone and happened again.
Its not even hot or using a lot of RAM, it always has like 250 or 200mb free

No, this is happening since the first boot of the phone. When I turned it on the first time it happened, and I had to search how to force a reboot because I didn't know how to do it LOL
It doesn't happen very often, but when it does is very frustrating!
Try flashing a new rom, but wipe the system partition too? I always do that to ensure a fully clean install.

I'm thinking in flashing a non based stock rom, like CM or MIUI, because I flashed XTXperience before and the freezing happened.
Oh, and the problem still exists. I believe Wi-Fi connection maybe it's the problem, I'm testing some things right now.
Had this too using Supercharger (by zep) but after few setting it's gone. Maybe you should try to run the script ?
It was with stock rom and advanced kernel v15/16.L
Well, I was on 6.1.A.2.45, I relocked the bootloader and an update changed the firmware to 6.1.A.2.55 using SUS without wiping data and the problem was still there, so I repaired the phone with SUS, it erased everything and the problem was gone for like 2 days. Today it happened again.

Hi, did you manage to solve the problem? I'm having similar issues like you
I have Xperia S phone obviously and have used multiple different ROMs. I have been using the latest PAC for a couple weeks (update as they come), but have used all other major ROMs for the Xperia S (xtxperince 9, cm10, ka25 speria sspeed, etc) and for some reason my wifi will die on me and will not turn back on. I will reboot phone flash different kernels (for the right roms) and still cant ever get it to turn back on. The only possible way that I can get it to work again is flashing the stock ROM (inparticular LT26i_US_Generic.ftf). I flash this, let it cook for 5 min and the BAM the wifi works!! So I flash back to PAC (my fav right now) and the wifi will work wonderful for 1-2 days and then die on me again. I have to repeat this process a lot and really do not understand why I am having this issue. Are other people experiencing the same thing I am? Is there any possible thing I can do to take care of this?
Its fwustrating
Please help me!! Thanks!
-haryy
Anybody have any idea on what I can try besides selling this phone and getting a different one? I can't imagine the wifi module would just die like that. Please anything at all I will try.
