If you are on the latest update for the phone, ICS 4.04, it is as simple as hitting the menu button on your phone and clicking on system settings. Then navigate to "Data Usage" which should be on first couple of tabs. :fingers-crossed:

Also you can call *2. It one of the options

Text "usage" to the number 1311. You will get 3g and 4g data usage along with minuets used and SMS

you can also go on the sprint website

Gnex downloaded 800 MB in the background over mobile network.

I have stock ROM 4.1.1, original firmware, rooted and unlocked. My Question is what my gnex has done. The in-system data-volume manager says that "Android OS" has downloaded 800 MB in the background over the mobile network. This is the third time; in the last few months it has done this 2 times. In the meantime it has been reset twice.
Has anyone an answer?

Try disabling 'backup my data' under Settings > backup & reset.
But what does this "backup my data" save? Every App? The whole app? Every Data? I thought that this backup service only saves informations?

No it doesn't upload apks to Google if that's what you mean. It's worth a shot though before you factory reset.

That will pretty much disable auto sync for all apps unless connected to wifi.

True but on that same screen you can see a list of all apps and how much they downloaded. Clicking on each app will take you to a screen that shows how much that app downloaded both in foreground and background. You can restrict background data on a per app basis from there.

For user apps, yes you can. For android os, you cannot.

most data that any app uses is background data, almost all streamed music is categorized as background data....as long as your not hitting a data cap i wouldn't worry about it

Looks like your log provider apk is force closing. Are you running a stock or custom rom?

If you are rooted and have a custom recovery get into recovery (hold power and volume up and when you see the first samsung screen you can let go) scroll down to advance use the power button to select then scroll down to fix permissions power to select if asked choose yes and it will do it's thing usually takes a couple minutes when finished reboot and hopefully it will be problem solved
I only have the Android recovery

Oic yea can't do it with stock recovery
Go to applications in settings and then go to list all apps. See if the app is there. If it is, clear cache and see if that fixes it.
Also temporarily, you could try to use terminal emulator from play store to kill the process. Not sure if you need root to kill.
Type...
Code:
ps
to list processes
Code:
kill PID
to kill the specific process. Pid of the process to kill will be shown when you first type ps.

I went to apps and found the app.. Clear cache wasn't an option so I forced it to stop. I don't get the pop up anymore but when I click the phone app or my messenger app, it just goes to a black screen.

I would make sure that none of your apps are set to auto update. Other than that you can use a third party app like traffic monitor to see what is using your data.

I'm getting them five or six times a night, my wife is worried I'm on my phone at all hours of the night from the bill. I would really like to find the source of the media/data and put a stop to it.
How do I make sure my apps don't auto update? (Sorry, I'm new to Android, so be patient)

Open Google Play, select your menu button, select "my apps" and then check they are not set to auto update. You should also check settings and make sure auto update is not set as default.

Go into settings>data usage and it should tell you exactly what is using data and how much.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using xda app-developers app
What does the data usage on the phone say?
Settings > Data Usage
That should tell you what app is using the data. It could be a whole bunch of things.
MobileAP widget was quite the culprit for unexpected data use on gingerbread.

Did that before I went to sleep. Also here is a sample of the ones using data through the night. I'm on wifi all night but whatever is doing this uses actual phone data.

This is not a Note 2 problem but an ATT problem. My mother had the exact same problem on a much simpler phone that didn't even have a data plan attached to it. I looked at her bill online and there were countless small data exchanges over a short period of time. I spoke to ATT and told them she doesn't even have a data plan and her phone is not one to use data. I had to forcibly block Internet data from exchanging back and forth on the account level. Obviously you can't use that as a solution. Don't let them tell you it's your device because chances are it's not.

How to get rid of quick remote?

How can I get rid of quick remote from notification bar? Even after freezing the app it still shows on there can't seem to find any setting to the it off the notification bar drop down menu. Anyone having an idea? Using a LG G Pro.

Are you talking about quick remote or quick memo? I don't think quick remote stays in notification bar. Or are you talking about slides?

Here is a screen shot. Ever since I activated this app the remote stays and can't be taken off. I even froze the app and it still is in the notification drop down menu.

Oh, I think I had that same problem. I think I had to delete all the devices to get it to stop doing this. Also, it has a feature that allows it to automatically start devices when it connects to your home WiFi. Make sure that is disabled first. If that is not the problem then simply delete all devices you have set up in the app and it should stop.

Nope that doesn't help. It is only for the remote to show up automatically when connected to a WiFi connection you can select. Also freezing doesn't help it either. I also can't swipe it off the notification bar. It sits here forever.

Then delete tv1 and it should go away. If you have other devices set up you'll have to delete them also. This is why I quit using this app.

You might try SD Maid. Open the app, slide over to app control tab, tap screen to refresh app list, then scroll down to quick remote, tap it, then select freeze app. You can also use SD Maid to delete apps. You might have to buy the pro version. Not sure.

You should just be able to tap on the QuickRemote button again in your drop down. If you've removed the button (or never had it in your dropdown toggles), then swipe all the way to the right of your dropdown toggles to "Edit" and then hit the "+" in the upper right corner. Now, when you tap on the QuickRemote toggle, it will toggle the controls that appear in your notification dropdown.
I hope that helps. What I described is the normal behavior on my device. I haven't removed or frozen the app and I'm stock/rooted.
