Which BT Headset should i use for my Exec ?

Hello All,
Please suggest me which BT Headset should i use with my lovely exec which should have following stuff :
1. Contact name display
2. Voice dialling
3. light weight
4. Moderate talk time

Btw plantronics models are really cool with multiple pairing functionality aswell..... does that have contact name display & voice dialling by anychance ? any one has experience with those models with xda exec pls ?

actually i'm quite surprised to know the fact htat HBH-660 is having 'contact name' functionality as this is no where mentioned in sony ericsson site , atleast i couldn't find one...
as i'm planning to buy HBH-660 for my exec, could any of you share your experience specifically with exec pls?

To me, a nice fit is important. You dont want to always check to ensure the headset is tight and etc... and i hate headset w hooks... it feels painful after awhile.

Personally I hate my BT800 and i'll be selling it as soon as I can! It simply doesn't fit my ear, so I'll be moving to a Blue Ant X3 Micro or a Sony Ericsson HBH-662, both of which are really comfy. Although the BA has no CID, you can pair it with up to three devices - sounds useful to me (phone, laptop & desktop).

I have been searching for a nice Headset myself. What is the difference between Sony Erickson HBH 660 and 662? I searched and they basically have the same description. Aside from the price, the 660 is cheaper, but aside from that I don't see any difference. Which is more compatible with the Universal?

i like Jabra bt250, bt110, and also plantronics voyager 510(just bought today)

As soon as Voice Command works flawlessly and we get A2DP then the Motorola HT820 will be a killer headset:

I just accidently killed my old iriver mp3 player today using the power of my mind and electricity (mostly the electricity), so I'm using Pocket Music with my Exec now, so this solution (+ a wee 4Gb card) can't come quick enough!

What works for me
I have used several BT headsets fron logitech. They work but feel uncomfortable over your ear.
Since three days I am using this !!!!

If you are after a headset for calls (not music) then SE hbh660/662 are hard to beat, especially now that rom upgrade fixed bluetooth turning off randomly. Loud and clear voice, great battery, light and easy to wear.

i have V3BTH8 ,BT800,AND SE HBH-600 the best is bt800 you can forget the ppc in your pocket or your bug and do almost all your calls from headset.....

I tried a pair of Motorola HT820 headphones at work when Motorola came to visit. The sound quality was very good (they were streming music from a laptop).
Didn't get a chance to use it with a phone as the demo model paired with a mobile's battery was flat.

Ok so I took back my Motorola s9 because of skipping problems with mt T Mobile Wing & now ive got the perfect headset, Its a Insignia Ns-Bthdp paid $53.49 @ Best Buy.
Ok it charged in 3 hours ,paired up nice and re paired when I shut off the device with no problems.Its SUPER LOUD ...wow I couldnt believe how loud these things are ..but its not as clear as the s9's were, I think if I add the EQ to my phone, I can fix that.
On a call it had a small echo effect for the the other party but on my end the call is in stereo(yes).These sit on the ear not in it and wrap the neck like the s9's.
The controls will take some getting use to, it will beep when theres an incoming call so you can answer, and you can return the last call as well.
So wing lovers there you have it a cheap stereo bluetooth headset that wont SKIP and its loud,light,and did I say it dosen't (SKIP)...lol

Sorry to ask a stupid question, but you may be able to save me some research, for what I believe may be an easy question. I just got the headphones you mentioned. They are great.
I was able to easily pair them with my Tilt, but once I turned off, next time I went to use them, I turned on bluetooth, and nothing.
Is there some additional step I need to take to get them working?
Basically all I did was make sure the headphones were on, then turned on bluetooth on phone. Am I missing something?

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but one annoyance with using this BT headset with my TyTN II is the need to go into the BT menu and manually activate the pairing every time, i.e., go to BT settings, turn on BT, go to Devices, long click on the i-Tech and choose "set as hands-free" and/or "set as wireless stereo."
Am I expecting too much? Or is this just that way BT stereo headsets work?

My HTC Touch Cruise and my Samsung SBH-170 connect automatically as soon as the headphones are turned on. Pressing play on the headphones starts my music only if either HTC Audiomanager or Windows Media Player are already running. My older Qtek 8310 (HTC Tornado) however would also start Windows Media Player on its own once I pressed play on the headphones.

Well, as it turns out, I had a defective headset. After exchanging it, it is no longer necessary to pair each time.
Regel, you are correct, it is VERY annoying to have to go in each time, and select "set as hands-free" and/or "set as wireless stereo."
Does anyone have a workaround for this, so that it will automatically use as stereo , and headset?

You are lucky that yours connects automatically, I sure wish mine did too. Those are very nice looking headphones! Better looking than my new Insignias, but the Insignias were cheap, and I'm broke

I'm happy it worked out, I usually keep bluetooth on all the time, as battery drain is very minimal. As long as the bluetooth is already on before you turn on your headset, you can turn the music player on at any time you want without any issues.
Thanks, I actually had first bought the headset over a year ago for $100, but someone stole them a few months back, and I was able to get a set on eBay for like $16 plus shipping...so the moral is that they can be bought cheap if you're really interested in a pair.

I am in the market for a set of stereo BT headphones for the gym, S9 seems to get lots of bad reviews..especially for getting them wet which is a problem as I sweat like hog in a blast-furnace...any luck with any of the sets you have actually being sweat-resistant and not interfering with running/lifting? All bluetooth headphones I have used, have automatically connected as hands free, but there is nothing to show this on the phone; just the flashing on the headphones shows it is connected.
Then pressing play on the headphones starts wireless stereo, and the headphone symbol appears on the screen, and the headphones make the little beep tone.

I only have 2 questions about it:

Why do you even need an FM transmitter when you can stream* almost any radiostation out there via mms, pls or rtsp protocols using free TCPMP player, for instance. All of them have links of that sort on their websites.
*Assuming that you have a decent data plan, of course.

Transmitter.... not reciever. However I kinda agree why do you need to connect the phone to the radio? Isn't that the point of the speakerphone? Thats what I use when driving,

this is supposed to be the best?...please get that outta here...try this the motorola t505..fm transmitter and bluetooth speaker phone all in one..and its wireless....google it..I just bought one and IT IS THE BEST hands down!

I agree. I bought this one about a month ago and it is the best FM Transmitter I have ever used. The signal is so strong that I hardley ever hear any static, even if I am streaming to a live radio station. I use mine every day as I am always on the road for my job - average 5 hours a day connected through bluetooth and streaming music from my phone to my stereo using the FM transmitter and only have to charge the thing once a week. This is the best one I have found so far and I have tried dozens of different ones.
Also - No interferance from the phone when you get a call unlike many of the other FM Transmitters I have tried - (NO Buzzing at all like you can sometimes get when phone call comes through when your phone is near a speaker or using a cheap fm transmitter) I use mine with my HTC Touch and Love it.

For my 2 questions, I have contacted the product manufacturer, the response it NO, for the 2 questions :-(
But they are thinking about making a new version, with charging capability of the HTC.. so maybe good new in the near future.

It is also a FM transmitter for HTC that is able to charge the PocketPC at the same time ! but do agree I would have prefered a smaller device than this.

I live in Europe (France) and i have only a 5 MB data plan... Other things to do than spending a lot of money in my phone to receive the FM OTA !!!
So i use ONE FM X-Mitter with both of my cars...
You're not alone, in India !
PS : I use a GRIFFIN 6106-TRPUNPLS as i don't want to activate A2DP on my Prophet

THis looks great, but i already have a factory built in bluetooth carkit, would it be possible to simultaniously connect to my factory built in carkit and to this T505 only for the music?

OK I just tested it and this is what I did. I went into my bluetooth settings and for the T 505 I unchecked the box for handsfree and then paired it with my phone. I played my music and it streamed perfectly through the T 505 to my stereo. I then paired my bluetooth headset and placed a call to myself. The music still paused automatically when the call came through and the call was sent to my bluetooth headset and not to the T 505. After I disconnected the call, the music on the phone resumed and continued streaming through the T 505 to my car stereo. So I was able to connect and use multiple bluetooth devices at the same time with my phone and specify which device will do what - Stream music to T 505 and calls to Headset. You should be able to do the same - Stream music only through the T 505 to your stereo and your calls to your built in factory Bluetooth carkit it you want. Really there would be no need to use the built in car kit though unless your factory carkit displays caller ID information. The T 505 does not : However, I think it might speak the caller ID Number to you when a call comes in. I do not subscribe to caller ID to keep the cost of my cellular plan down so I can't really tell you how that works.

I have purchased 2 Moto T505( one for me and one for my GF). Whenever we receive a phone call, the T505 rings its own ringtone along with the phone ringtone. How can i disable the Moto ringtone(ennoying ascending tone and keep my phone ringtone to ring only)

I just assumed that it could not be done since it is built into the T505. I actually prefer it though as the phone ring tune is sometimes not loud enough to hear, but you will never fail to hear the Moto T505 ring

Yeah, They have always rang together for me. If you can figure out how to get my ring tune to come throught the Moto nice and loud rather then the default moto ring, that I would really be interested in.

hmmm.well i use my car speakers, so its always loud.

That's what I mean. Currently, the Moto default ring is what comes thorugh the car speakers and my phones ringtone only plays through the phones built in speaker (Not loud enough for in the car)

I would take a punt and get one, but apparently I will need adaptors to connect to my car (audi) which bumps the price to £61 !!!

£75 and you get an MP3 player that interfaces to a standard Audi head-unit (see the list) and emulates a 2nd CD-Changer. It also has a BlueTooth adapter that allows you to stream audio from your phone to it (A2DP?) as well as apparently acting as a hands-free car-kit.
I use TomTom Navigator on my HTC Kaiser and would like to know about how functional it is when used in this combination - i.e. Use Media Player or Audio Manager on the PDA to play music whilst running TomTom and also use it as a hands-free kit for the phone. I have verified that using the internal speaker you can play music and also use TomTom and the the instructions are just played over the music. I just don't want to get one and find out its cr4p.
I have asked the question on a couple of forums but not had any good responses yet. I have a 20% off voucher for eBay (as long as PayPal is used) so I can get £15 off the £75 which brings it down to £60. However £60 is still £60 and if it's rubbish......

I've got an Audi too. Here are a few pics of my iO Play setup which supports the handsfree and headset profies (HSF/HSP) as well as the stereo music and remote control profiles (A2DP/AVCRP). In all honesty though, this was a custom (ie non plug and play) setup. So I did do some custom wiring to get this to work. I think though, if you have an older non-Bose Audi, this might be plug and play.

IO play looks good but is gonna be about £150
I like the look of xcarlink but it doesn't say much about its bluetooth operation
I want to keep using S2P as my preferred MP3 software because the cover flow is superb
Therfore I dont want to reorganise my folders as xcarlink suggests, but if the bluetooth A2DP works, I shouldn't have too
Can you take a punt on the xcarlink as you have the 20% voucher
I'm sure if it didnt work out, you could resell on ebay for the purchase price as you bought it for less money

I'm very tempted to try the xcarlink

Bluetooth Module?
As far as I can work out the Bluetooth module is an afterthought and is entirely external. The XCarLink doesn't actually have any Bluetooth intelligence as the module just plugs into the AUX port - like a 'dumb' MP3 player connected directly with a stereo jack plug (I assume there has been some minor modification to get power to the module though?).
I have been searching for a manual or installation guide and can't find anything useful. I am tempted to just get one with my 20% discount and see how it works - its still £60 though
If anyone has any experience with one of these or has any links I would be grateful.

I don't want the hassle of having to remove the front panel off a standard sized stereo evertime i leave the car
THe feedback for the xcarlink seems really good
If I had a 20% code, I would order now - any ideas where theses codes can be found

It does appear to be a different unit than the non bluetooth version. It looks like a mini usb socket for the bluetooth module, while the non BT version has a 3.5mm headphone input

Yes, thats what I thought. If you look at the cables that get supplied with it there is a mini-USB to 3.5 stereo audio jack as well. I assume they have just used the extra pins in the mini-USB (if that's indeed what it is?) to power the BT module.
Still not sure whether to get it or not

That looks good but suffers from the same issue (albeit opposite) as the XCarLink does emulating a CD Changer - i.e. if you are not listening to the radio (i.e. your BT kit) then you won't be notified that a call is coming in.
I have also bitten the bullet and ordered an XCarLink with BT, with my 20% discount I got it for £59.80 (unless customs hit me for any import duty....).
I'll post a review when I manage to get it fitted...

On the other hand, if you are not listening to the radio via the BT kit, then you probably haven't got the phone currently paired with the device anyway, in which case you will be notified just like normal. Also, if you set the phone to vibrate you will always be notified that way regardless.
In my experience, this device doesn't "suffer" from anything.

OK, but with a 'proper' car kit interfaced with the Phone input on the head unit you would be notified regardless of what you were listening to. In my experience if Led Zeppelin or AC-DC gets played on the radio station I am listening to I immediateley up the volume which will drown out the phone ringer. With either the XCarLink or the Motorola BT device you use there will be no interuption which there would be with a regular car kit like a Parrot dur to the way it interfaces with the HU.
In Manchester (UK) we now have a classic Rock station (Rock 106.1) and Led Zepellin and AC-DC are on quite often....

I pressed the button on the bluetooth module. Some beeps came through the stereo and a partnership was set up, however no music or phone calls
Any ideas - think it's likely to be a feature of wm6 than a fault with the xcarlink

Replying to my own post...
I have to go to
Settings/Bluetooth then tap and hold the xcarlink device until the menu appears
Then select "set as wireless stereo"
Seems I have to do this each time. Which is a shame, but I know this is the XDA rather than the xcarlink. Does anyone know an automatic way ?
Perhaps a task for Mortscript - but that will be a whole learning curve

Acually, it may be the xcarlink that's your issue, I have some A2DP accessories that search for my phone as soon as they are turned on, and I have some that don't.
However, how is the xcarlink's A2DP sound quality? Do all AVCRP remote control commands work properly? Also, does it have any handsfree capabilities?

Choosing a car stereo A2DP compatible

I'm interested to buy a new car stereo, in the way to stream directly the music from mine Desire over bluetooth. Someone got some experience about it? I would look to buy an used car stereo from ebay for this... any clue?

I have a kenwood KDC-X8016BT
does almost all.
can use the headset buttons to change the music being streamed via BT on phone OR other wy around.
Handsfree
voice dial
etc etc
the only thing I don’t like is.... when scrolling through the phonebook via the headset.... you can't use the first letter shortcuts .... you have to scroll them all from a to z. But you can set 10 numbers to the one push favorites button...

If I were you I'd only believe it works when you see it works... My desire reboots when connected to my carstereo via bluetooth / a2dp since the Froyo 2.2 upgrade.

Really ? I use my Desire with Pioneer BT600 everyday for internet radio, spotify, calls. Never had a reboot at all everything fine with mine, on Leedroid 2.1a atm

So, normally a stereo with a Bluetooth connection "should be" compatible with the Desire?

I have the JVC KD-R901 and the bluetooth streaming works fine, as does hands free calling with the Desire.

Good to hear! someone got another experience with Desire + one car stereo with Bluetooth?

Another question, can two different bluetooth devices work together or there would be a conflict? for example using the Desire plus this remote for the radio:

I have a JVC KD-BT11 few years old now but very good and never had any problems. Works very well with the desire both for calls and music.
Connects within seconds of turning starting the car and also works with the steering wheel controls in the car to skip tracks on the phone etc.

I use the Sony MEX-BT3800U with me desire and it works really well via Bluetooth. It even has a front USB socket for direct access to the SD card and is even strong enough to charge the phone too.

I just bought a new car stereo with Bluetooth 1.1 and 2.0 with A2DP (Marquant MCR-1257) but I got problem to play the music from mine Desire, can someone help me?
I connected the two devices together, then the instructions said that I need to change the autoradio mode (there are Radio, Aux, and BT-Play mode) but only the first two are selectable.
What I have done wrong? how did you connected the Desire with your stereo?

That doesn't sound normal. I've had a similar sound problem with stereo headphones when it thinks the headphones are mono headset. Rebooting both devices and reconnecting helped.

I tryed both, I disconnected and riconnected the device from zero, I checked the volume level (max) but it's still sounds worst (quality and volume) compared to AUX.
Any other clue?

i got a pioneer and all is good. even downloads my phone book so no rooting through phone when driving to make a call. Best advice is to go to a proper car stereo place and ask them for advice as they have seen and done it. from my experience stay away from halfords. So for bringing back a relatively old post, but I am about to invest a considerable amount of money into my car stereo system, and am looking for the perfect head unit for the following:
Samsung Galaxy S I9000 to work with A2DP for streaming music and making calls (needs phonebook reading etc)
Ipad to work with Apple Connector direct to headunit (Mainly for audio, however Video playback would be awesome via the Apple Video Connector)
AUX input for other people's devices
DAB Radio
USB port for flash disk
Do you think all these requirements can be satisfied with one super mega ultra headunit?
Sorry for posting in this forum despite my lack of a Desire, however I couldn't find a similar topic in the I9000 forum!
Thoughts on a postcard perhaps?

I'm also considering buying a Kenwood KDC-8016BT to use with my Android phone. Can you confirm how the voice dialling works that you quote it can do? The manual on the Kenwood website implies that only the KDC-X7016/KDC-X7016L can perform voice dialling calls (perhaps because this unit uses the external Bluetooth box which may be higher spec’ed that the one built into the KDC-X8016BT? Anyway, it seems strange that the higher spec'ed unit overall couldn't do this. Can you please confirm voice dialling is indeed a feature of the KDC-X8016BT? If so, does it require pre recording of voice tags (as the Kenwood manual implies is required for the KDC-X7016/KDC-X7016L) or does it just activate the voice dialler built into the phone - thus the intelligence for the voice dialling is in the phone rather than the car stereo?
