Good finance/stock widgets or apps? - Nexus 7 Themes and Apps

Looking for some good finance/stock widgets and/or apps for Nexus 7? (other than what I'm currently using)
Bloomberg is not currently available for the Nexus 7, which is a little depressing.
I currently use Mint app (Mint.com) for personal finance. Google Finance and stock watcher for tracking stocks (they don't have widgets).
Looking for additional apps to use that might have widgets. Googling "best stock apps", provides me with results for 2011.
*I have been using this forum for a couple of years now, but only recently subscribed*

Yahoo finance widget isn't bad. Bloomberg app is prob one of the best. They have a Android tablet version as well.
If you have an Etrade or fidelity account the apps are decent but way better for the ipad. Just got a nexus 7 so hoping they make tablet specific financial apps with larger charts and more indicators like they Have for ipad.

I'm looking for the same thing. I really liked the HTC Sense widget but in can't find anything that's like it.

Bloomberg has the only android tablet financial app that I know of.

[Q] Stock HTC RSS reader (news 1.0)

I'm trying to find a way to acquire the stock evo RSS reader. I made the switch to CM7 but I haven't found a RSS reader I enjoy. I was happy enough with the stock app save for a few details. Anyone know where I can dl the apk to reinstall it?
The one for sense ? I'm pretty sure like any other sense app is not going to work on cm7

Have you tried Pulse? It's got a rather sleek UI and has decent feed management capabilities.
I'm not sure that its a sense app. It is a stock HTC app though so it's entirely possible that it has something to do with sense. Either way if it isn't part of the sense UI I want it back. I did try pulse a few months back and if I'm remembering it correctly, it has a windows phone theme to it. Either way I wasn't overly impressed.
Not sure if there are a lot of ex blackberry users here, but if anyone's used viigo on blackberry, that's more or less what I'm looking for. A good, simple, RSS reader. The preloaded app on the evo was close enough for me.
Here is a list of all the preloaded applications on the Stock EVO: http://www.goodandevo.net/2010/05/sprint-apps-and-other-software-preinstalled-on-the-htc-evo-4g.html
Do any of those apps ring a bell? If we can establish which app it is you're looking for it'll be easier to get an apk.
Edit: If it's the news app I'll search around and see if I can find it.
I tried a number, including Pulse and ended up settling on RSS Demon. I've liked it a lot so far.
SWYPED from my Evo with Eternal Prophecy 5.9 ROM. Yeah I said Swyped.
So far,, I need my news reader to have scrollable widget in adw/launcher pro. Scrollable widget and atom rss are alright but pulse news widget is the best, I had to pay 1.47 for it but it has allot of options.
There are 2 news apps preloaded, news/weather and news. I'm looking for "news" - the preloaded RSS reader.

Which Twitter Client & Widget

On iOS I used to love TweetBot it was amazing, and offered so much more than the standard Twitter App. Now I've moved to Android (which I'm loving) I really do miss this app. The standard Twitter app just doesn't seem to cut it and also the widget for it doesn't look that nice.
Just wondered what was considered the best app for Twitter and also what is the best Widget to use?
Boid

I heavily recommend Boid. It's still under heavy development but is ICS optimized and the best client for the One X.
It does not have a widget, but plans to add it in near future.
Give it a try: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.boidforandroid.appbeta&hl=en
Will give that an install now to trial it... Thanks. Any others? What did you use before that one? There seems like loads on the market lol.
I use boid or tweekdeck https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.modaco.thedeck.android.app

Whats the pro's and con's of each would you say? I'm guessing you use one more than the other? Appreciate the reply.
I've used them all, but the best one I find is plume. It has beautiful interface and great widget. Do give it a try.

htc music app

So I upgraded my desire s to ics and find that gallery and music both have an "output" button that lets me select my apple TV.
Now this is ..well brilliant. There's a couple of fairly ordinairy apps like doubletwist that I tried that don't really work very well but this is perfect.
So the question is. Can I transfer those apps to the nexus or are there some alternatives that ppl have found that work?
SoI I extracted the apk from phone and put it in apps folder on nexus. Changed permissions but it won't install.
No one knows?
It's really good! Like close to amazing if you have an apple TV. Perfect air sync for Android. I'm surprised its not a hot topic.
Honestly airplay is the big difference for me in the two os. I prefer android with so many options but missing a major feature like that is a real pain.
It still wouldn't be perfect because the pandora app won't have it nor YouTube but it's a good start.
HTC apps can't be use on a non sense device. As each app need sense framework for operate. So the only way to use a HTC app is to have a sense based ROM. Not sure it'll come to us but would be really happy to see it.

Nexus 7 native apps... How many?

Hi, Google playstore does not separate tablet apps from phone apps. How many tablet apps are there? I am afraid of buying android tablets for fear of apps that will just be scaled versions to fit on Android tablets.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
You have been brainwashed by the dark side. Apple scales apps, Android does not.
IPad Mini gives you a shrunken view of an IPad 2, because it keeps the same resolution on a smaller screen.
Android apps present a display that is appropriate for the screen size and resolution of the device.
What you are calling "phone apps" look perfectly fine on an Android tablet; correct sized icons and all.
Well coded apps will fill the display screen with appropriate information.
There are Google and Amazon tablets in stores in every city now. Go look at one and make your own decisions,
and don't just believe what you have heard from the dark side.

There aren't as many tablet specific apps for Android as there are for the iPad. However, due to the nature of Android apps they "scale" really well. (They don't actually scale) Most well coded apps look just fine on any size screen.
I've never, ever, ever had a problem with this. That's just some nonsense gibberish put forth by the dark side in attempt to throw dirt at Android. And besides, we have widgets - most good ones will give you all the info you need before you even enter the app.
Also, Android apps adapt very well to your screen size and orientation. So if you're in portrait it will save space by not displaying a second panel, however when you flip it sideways the second panel, with more content, appears.

Buy the tablet and when you go to play store the apps you see available will all run ok unless you see black line at top saying not compatible.
I have Sony arc and nexus7 which are using all same apps and can't see any probs with either.

I'm using an Arc S for my phone & a Nexus 7 for my tablet and I've come across a a few apps that don't work on the N7, 2 are apps that I use quite often and that's the Amazon app (not the app store or kindle apps) and one is the app produced by the British Elite Ice Hockey Team that I follow, but luckily the screen size means that I can get all the info & more that was available in the Ice Hockey app via the teams own website & the leagues own website & the Amazon website is use able without needing the app. The rest are all apps that are phone/gsm/CDMA specific apps like messaging apps and the none HD Tegra version of Hockey Nations.
The Facebook & Twitter apps scale quite well to the larger screen size of the N7.
If you use Paranoid Android ROM's on your phone you can see the dynamic scaling of Android apps that let them adapt to different screen sizes by selecting Tablet mode and adjusting the screen dpi setting of apps.

The Amazon shopping app (not the app app) is available on the Amazon app store. I use it a lot. App store app is broken on 4.2 but Amazon has promised a fix soon.

Which Weather app is fastest with reasonable details

I have tried multiple weather apps and most are slow as you click the widget to see the details. I wonder which one is fastest among these apps?
Eye in the sky weather.

I like weather bug. The widgets are reasonably fast and their network of weather sensors is great in my area. I have one about a mile from my house so I know the temperatures I see on my phone are correct. Other apps I have used did not have sensors near so their readings were always off from what I was seeing on my actual thermometer.
I use WeatherBug Elite. It's really fast, accurate, and has alerts. I love it.
Eye in Sky is excellent. Fanastic UI, fast - really nice to use. I don't use it any more though because the weather forecasts/predictions were a little off here in Australia - some times up to 5 degrees off. As soon as this is fixed, hopefully by allowing weather data to be pulled from multi sources (for us Aussies the BOM is best) I will be reinstalling it straight away.
No love for beweather??? I've been using it forever and I like it more than anything mostly because of how it looks and performs. There's a paid version which includes widgets I believe and free version to try it out. I have paid version and the widgets looks pretty awesome.

I really want a weather widget myself and prefer rings digital clock widget but reviews say that it crashes on 4.2
I love fancy widgets. It's always accurate enough for me and has my favorite skins. So much customization you can make it whatever you want it to be.
I think it really depends on where you live. I used weatherbug in NY an now use eWeather HD in San Antonio, TX. I also use 1weather for my notifications even though eWeather has that option. I also use skymotion to check rain in the immediate area.
Everyone brings up a good point. It depends on where you are. I think accuracy is more important than speed. Whatever works for your area.

I have been really happy with weatherbug elite. I also like notification weather pro for a quick forecast.
This not a "weather' app but I use it all the time. Especially in the summer. Damn t-storms.
Raindar. It is old but works great. Launch it and it goes straight to a radar. I have had it set to launch by double tapping with nova launcher. App has settings for storm tracks and info.
Another app that does the tracking of storms but better is storm eye.
I also enjoy the always overlooked stock news and weather app. The sliding graph with temp and precipitation chance is great.
I've been reviewing a whole bunch of popular Android weather apps over on Google+.
The best UI is Eye in Sky but as others have already noticed, the weather provider used isn't very accurate, which is a real shame. Also, the guy who develops it doesn't have much time to spend on it at the moment so I'm not sure updates are going to be forthcoming.
So far I've looked at Google Now, AccuWeather, WeatherBug, WeatherPro, UK Weather, Eye in Sky and I have lots more to cover (including Yahoo!, Met Office and others). The one I'm currently using is HD Widgets. Not only are the widgets excellent, with a big selection of sizes, styles, tablet and 4.2.1 lockscreen support, but you can choose from three different weather providers. I heartily recommend it. Not sure it's free though...
The most accurate so far is between Google Now and UK Weather. The former is obviously UK only though. I wish there was a Holo-style widget for Google Now Weather... that would be awesome.
The biggest providers for other apps seem to be Yahoo!, AccuWeather, WeatherBug and Weather Underground. Most weather apps seem to use one of these so finding one that lets you choose is a real benefit as accuracy may depend on your country.

Sounds like you've done a bit of work.
Have you looked at Weatherzone or PocketWeather yet? Both are really nice. :good:
I'm always after new suggestions. But I do need to stop at some point and see if there is a clear winner!
So far though it's quite frustrating as some apps are accurate with a crappy UI or awful widgets, whereas others look amazing but their accuracy blow. Finding something that is good at both is harder than you think.
HD Widgets are experimenting with a new theme that looks like Chronus/cLock/Climaticons/Eye in Sky which could well be "the one" but if someone works out how to get a Google Now card into a choice of light or dark Holo widgets then I think I could stop looking.
PocketWeather and Weatherzone seem to be Australia-only though so not much use to me here in the UK.
