Hello everyone - just thought i'd share something i've just found using the MX Player (video player).
Most of the time when playing videos using MX the volume is nice and loud - goes upto 15 on its scale and i'm happy!
However occasionally i'll download something with Tubemate/stick a dvd on the One X and the volume is low on playback - even when put to the max level of 15.
So i though i'd play with the settings and switched the decoder from hardware to S/W decoder and enabled fast mode too.
Now upon playback you can increase the volume level to 30! This isnt twice as loud as the '15' on the scale before but it certainly does boost 'quieter' videos to decent levels.
Just make sure you set the decoder to S/W as default - also if you touch the screen on playback you should have a read out at the top telling you which decoder it is currently using - even if you have just switched to S/W decoder as default then you might need to switch the particular video over to S/W manually as it doesnt appear automatic throughout.
All subsequent video should be played back using S?/W decoder from here though!
Hope this helps some of you guys out!
ITS available from long time just choose SW codec and u have volume uptil 30

doesn't playing in software mode (S/W) eat your battery ?

Windows Media Player Music:
If you play music using the integrated WMP - power management will not work as expected - Display light will never turn off. Still the same if you press the home button during playback.
If you lock your device during playback, backlight will be dimmed but remains on.
--> Your battery will be empty very shortly if you use your device as MP3 Player.
Windows Media Player Video:
First - landscape registry key still works.
But if you play a video in fullscreen mode you can do this only for a few seconds before it switches back to normal skin mode.
--> You cannot really view any video on your device
Please, can anyone confirm this.
Are these known bugs for HTC which are be fixed in the final release?
Are there any workarounds?
I confirm this bugs, i have Wm6 HTC Test ROM to, and the WMP have this problems.
I use now the Audio Manager and Pocket Player software.
Regards
what about using TCPMP?
do you have the same problems with it?
It's a WMP player bug inside the current HTC pre-release of WM6.
TCPMP works like expected.
confirm bug, but the battery is not so terrible..
1.) Install RUU_Excalibur_HTC_RUS_1.24.411.1_4.1.13
2.) Change Language to US
3.) Do not dock your device
4.) Start WMP and play a song
--> Backlight never will turn off
5.) Press the HOME button
--> Backlight still remains on
6.) LOCK your device
--> Backlight will be dimmed
I can reconstruct this bug very easily on 3 devices following exactly the steps above. If this doesn't happens on your device please let us know what's different.

If I use my device as MP3 player and do not lock the device --> the battery will be empty in less than 2 hours. (Full backlight - always on)
If you lock it the battery will be empty in less than 5 hours (Backlight dimmed).
So from my point of view this is a terrible bug.
using audio manager saves the day
Audio Manager Bug.... when anounce names are kept on.. the ring for mobile rings for just 2-3 secs.....
announce names is what?

has anyone found a fix for this yet?
bug fix?
Anyone have a solution to the wmp backlight problem yet? I mainly use wmp because it allows me to use my stereo bluetooth headset buttons to control the music, and works best when making calls using ms voice command.
During playback on any app I.e. you tube, stock, mx player video will stop but sound will continue until I tap the screen and video will jump to where the sound is and play ok for a couple seconds and then stop again until I tap the screen. It happens whether I am streaming or playing a file. If I run the video using the software decoder in mx player the issue is not present. So that tells me it's probably a hardware issue, but I don't know where to go from there. Any ideas?
Hello,
I've been using MX Player to play some previously encoded videos from Handbrake. The issue I'm having is that the audio is a bit too quiet to comfortable listen to using earphones or the device speakers.
I've adjusted the gain in Handbrake and performed some tests but the problem is to achieve a loud enough volume the Audio track from the video becomes slightly distorted in places which is extremely unpleasant.
Is there a way to adjust the N7's maximum volume or maybe a separate app/settings that may boost the output volume?
I've left my handbrake settings at Gain +5 but I'd still like the volume a little louder if possible. I have also checked that once ading gain to the video encode it was definitely the audio track that was distorted rather than the N7's output being pushed too far. I used the same video files on other playback methods and the distortion was still present.
Thanks
Volume 16-30 in MX Player should be a boost. If you're using 30 volume in MX Player and it's very quiet there must be something wrong with the handbrake settings(?)

Is Settings, Audio, Volume Boost enabled?

I also think you have to use HW+ decoding to get the volume boost capability.

Get the Noozxoid custom codec somewhere in this forum. Great tone and volume, especially when you plug it aux or earphones!
Has anyone noticed quite low audio volume on video playback? I love films and I've transfered a few with different formats and they all play but all same low volume

I find the headphone volume to be very low on anything I play, whether it be music or video.
However, for videos you could use 'MX player' from play store, it can boost audio by 200%, that might help you.
And for audio in general I am thinking of installing Viper4Android as I always have on other mobiles but first I want to run some audio recording tests, before installing Viper4Android because I want to see if it affects audio recording in any way.

Hi. i have a problem with lhdc codec and xiaomi wireless headphones 2. sometimes the sound stops and comes out on the speakers. and when viewing a page on Google Chrome when a video playing, Chrome crashes and quits on its own. With the aac and sbc codecs it works fine.
Other observations; the volume is very low at half and increases or decreases by several steps too quickly.
