Hi all,
since 10062012 (and now also beta9) the rom wasn't very smooth for me. The launcher laggs a little and scrolling is slow. 13052012 was very fast and smooth so I don't know what's the problem. Just want to ask, is anybody else experiencing this problem, or is there something I can do about it?
Overclock, change governor
Sent from my GT-S5830 using Tapatalk 2
Already overclocked to 825, governor smartassV2, still laggs. Don't you have the same problem?
change governor to lagfree
well, it doesn't lag much anymore. But it is still slow. if you compare with 13052012 it's much slower. I watched a video of someone with a galaxy ace with beta 9, and his rom goes speedy. Don't know the reason....

Then my phone will reboot. max for me is 825.... So this rom won't be smooth unless I overclock to 900?

Here is the way I installed the rom:
Wipe data/factory reset
Wipe cache
install rom
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache
wipe dalvik cache
Could there be something wrong with it?

I heard some people also have this problem. Maybe you should just wait to new release? Nota bene, are you sure you've got the same settings like on previous nightly?
use v6 supercharger + loopy smoothness tweak, it made my gio super fast/smooth on my gio, but i changed back to 2.36 because i needed the camera recording :x

yep, I do this with every rom. But if someone else doesn't have this problem, please share your way of installing. maybe it's the baseband. I use S5660XXKT7 (the dutch latest firmware). What baseband do you guys use?

Way of installing nor baseband don't depend on speed
somehow regained my speed with the use of s2e, moved everything to the sd except for the applications data. If I move that too, what would be the improvement (yes, I know I'll get more internal space then but is it faster?)

All I knkw is that internal memory is faster than SD. Try, maybe it will be successful, but scores won't be amazing

Well, I somehow managed to get things a little bit smooth, so I guess this discussion comes to an end. So... I got a off-topic question, but I guess it's better than opening a new tread here . Will flashing from stock to custom give you better peformance/stability? Instead of flashing a custom firmware over a custom firmware? (like one with much bugs to another one with bugs for example?) I always had the idea that flashing from stock is better. Can this be corrected?

Well, we can't really know for sure. We'll have to wait when Google releases the ICS source code and see if the devs can cook up something for the Desire. Cyanogenmod team would be a good example.

If you urgently need youtube you can flash Eoghan's speed kernel from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1707308
I can confirm that with that one youtube works so you can use it until Alquez and Eoghan find a permanent solution
Tiens, un autre Français
Yeah, either you wait for an update to the whole rom, either you use Eoghan's Kernel. I'd recommend waiting, but that's just me (I don't really watch youtube anyway...)

How did you install the google apps on cm7? I'm a long-time cm7.2 nightly user, and never had any problems with any of the google apps. The right way to install the google apps would be to flash the gapps zip right after installing your cm7. At least that's the way I did it, and never had any problems with it.
Thank you all for your answers
I think I will wait for an update, i think it would be better
To yeremina : Yeah, i have flashed the Gapps zip right after the installation of CM7 and I have installated Youtube through the Market. It's the right way, isn't it ?

To flash the kernel of Eoghan, I just have to make a backup with nandroid, wipe cache and dalvik cache and flash the .zip like any other ROM, isn't it ?

Hi Guys,
it's the first time that I need your help with my galaxy nexus.
5 months ago I rooted my phone and I installeted a ROM( maybe Revolution ROM ) and my phone was fast and perfect.. without problem.
After 1month or 6weeks I had my first random reboot and began the lags, and i decided to install a paranoid ROM. Before to do the flash, I did a full wipe but my Phone was immediately slow while i was doing the configuration.
I thought that the rom was not stable and i decided to install another ROM but I had the same behavior... Phone slow and reboot everytime!
I decided to flash the custom google factory ROM by toolkit and to install again the recovery and try to flash another rom more "stable" like a CyanoGEN RC5. IN the first time was amazing! my phone was perfect, without lag and very fast, but after 4/5 days started the random reboot and lag!
the problem is that this problem emerge often but not always!
I tried to install 5 different rom, but I have always the same problem! after 4/5 days i have the same lag, delay and random reboot!
especially i have the problem with the original keyboard and swiftyFlow KB, often it's very slow...
normally I have 95/100 apps in my phone.
What can I do?
thanks a lot!!

Try Installing a rom of your choice, but don't download any apps (outside of the core GApps), or restore backups.
It may be to the fact that several apps are trying to sync data at the same time, or update through the Play Store. I know with some ROMs the scrolling its very jittery at first but once all the services connect and settle, its works fine.
I'm not sure if you've tried that, but let me know
ok, thanks!! tonight I am going to try!!

How about flashing a new kernel? I only get this kind of lag on Paranoid Android when Halo is activated, using swiftkey is a nightmare, very slow to load, and other apps as well. Now I'm on Liquid Smooth 2.5 with Fancy Kernel and I'm very happy, not lag at all, it runs very fast even with the stock kernel.
Also, you should monitor your apps, may be one is running in the backgroung when you are not using it and it is sucking all your RAM.
Hope it helps!
Ak256 will speed things up a bit also lagfix is available from the play store also of you haven't already the transition speed to .5 in the developer options that also helps

If nothing hepls, backup all your data, flash google stock image via fastboot, flash custom recovery and then try to flash any ROM you want. Also use a good ROM and kernel combination

Franco has been really good for me in the past, however to really gain the benefit you need a ROM that exposes the ability to adjust the CPU type/performance.

Hi

Is there anything I can do about this?

Hi and Thnx Guy,
I actually rooted my Desire HD for the first time using HTC_QuickRoot_1.1.13 after unlocking bootloader via HTC site. Then I flashed CWR via flashboot using cmd on PC.
After that I just placed the GimmeABreak ROM on SD card and flashed via CWR. Oh and it was stuck in HTC screen after this and after much reading figured out that I had to flash the boot.img via PC.
This is pretty much all I did. ROM works perfectly fine. Except I saw that the battery charges pretty slow. But I read that it takes 2 or 3 charge cycles to get optimum levels. BTW I saw an app that deletes battery stats files and recalibrate it. You think it would help?
Cheers mate.
maybe you can try wipe battery stats under CWM recovery..but i don't know if there are in CWM menu..
or maybe you might also try installing another rom..
hopefully can help..

Hi Jeamy,
Ya I just did that. I will wait and see. As I am a newbie here, I was wondering how can I harness the best battery life out of my phone. Because that's one reason of rooting and using custom ROMs in my opinion. I'm very happy with the first ever ROM (GimmeABreak) I'm using and how can I go about tweaking the phone to get the best battery life?
Thanks

There's a multitude of ways you can increase your battery life
First off, buy an extended battery, they're around £20. It helps a lot!
Underclocking helps a lot, especially when the screen is off. l usually set my phone to run at 300 MHz when the screen is off and also force it to use the conservative governor. When using the phone I usually set it to 700 MHz so it wont drain.
Undervolting is good

Ok, i was just talking to someone that was having the exact same problem as you and it turned out that he wasnt properly doing a full wipe.
You need to format everything other than the sd. In 4ext the option for this is in wipe > format all partitions (except sdcard)
Make sure you do this.

1. Users arent really having to go through much trouble. The only difference now is that you need to reboot in between flashing the rom and gapps.
2. By slightly breaking the setup wizard, I seem to have been able to fix the WiFi bug where it would get stuck turning on. I would rather have better working WiFi that I constantly use, than a perfectly working setup wizard which I only use once. Im sure the majority of other users feel the same.

VPN Issues
Greetings, I have installed Beanstalk 4.4.2 on my 4 years old Desire just few days ago. So far so good, it is great, fast, it really revived my smartphone. But ...
What is the reason no form of VPN works on it? I have some prepaid solution and its app doesn't work. OpenVPN doesn't. PP2P/L2TP solutions don't work. Is it system bug which needs fix or am I doing anything wrong?
Thanks for answer.

Sorry to ruin it for you but camera will not be fixed with K3 release, if it will be released anytime which I highly doubt anymore. It is a matter of unreleased sources and libs by HTC, so the best we will get is what we already have, camera-wise. So long story short, if you want fully functional camera and video recording, GB is the only way or that chinese ICS released sometime ago.

So if I want fully functional and fast HTC Desire I should go for Mild Wild or pure CM? What is the difference between cm based and redux based MW? Thanks.

They're just slightly different ROM bases. Install both, see which one you prefer
It's the best way to find out, unlike recommendations without justifications as above..
Remember you can maximise space much better with either of those ROMs as they into smaller hboots
CM version will fit into cm7r2, redux should fit into oxygenR2, check the threads.
