In notepad++ I get a bunch of NUL,FF,BUILD,and SO's.
I used APK_Manager to unzip it. Is there any good way to edit xml's?

[Q] Trying to theme, quick question.

I'm trying to dip my toes into theming a bit for th, I began reading through the tutorials linked in the Wiki, but I am stuck.
I downloaded 2 themes (Gingerbread and Mysterious Beast) and extracted the framework-res.apk and I can see all the .png and .xml files. Whenever I open any of the xml files in notepad, it shows up like this...
"  Ø   h
D  , X v – ¨
s t a t e _ e n a b l e d  c o l o r  s t a t e _ w i n d o w _ f o c u s e d
s t a t e _ p r e s s e d  s t a t e _ s e l e c t e d  a n d r o i d * h t t p : / / s c h e m a s . a n d r o i d . c o m / a p k / r e s / a n d r o i d  s e l e c t o r  i t e m €  ž ¥ § ¡     ÿÿÿÿ   $  ÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿ    L  ÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿ     ÿÿÿÿ    ÿÿÿÿ     ÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿ  L  ÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿ      ÿÿÿÿ    ÿÿÿÿ     ÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿ  L  ÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿ      ÿÿÿÿ ÿÿÿÿ  ÿÿÿÿ     ÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿ  L  ÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿ      ÿÿÿÿ ÿÿÿÿ  ÿÿÿÿ     ÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿ  8  ÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿ      ÿÿÿÿ     ÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿ    ÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿ    ÿÿÿÿ "
I thought maybe these themes were "a different format" from the Stock DI18 theme they recommend downloading, so I downloaded the DI18 Stock Template and the XML files appear the same.
So, I decided maybe it was an issue with Notepad, so I downloaded XML Editor 2007, which gave me an error when trying to open the xml file... "hexadecimal value 0x03 is an invalid character. Line 1, Position 1".
Where am I going wrong??
You need to decompile the apk using apk manager to edit xmls. There's guides floating around if you do some searching. I'm also rooming to entertain any questions you might have. Just pm me

Aha, Thanks for the info. I think I should be good from here on out. The guides seemed to suggest that APK Manager just makes it easier. I didn't get the impression from reading it that it was required... especially since I extracted the framework-res.apk and saw all the xml/png files.
Again, Thanks a ton.

Thanx but i already tried theming statusbar_background.9 and it doesn't change statusbar color,im on EG22.
Im starting to think its in .jar or .xml file because i themed all status bar related png's and top statusbar is still black.

Ahh, well that was it for EF02. I'm betting framework.jar.
I think its still controled by the framework-res.apk. Ill check I think there are 2 diffrent names for it now...

Thanx,im surprised there is no info on the Internet about this.
I take by doing this it will use png color scheme instead of xml files?

I'm guessing it's because this is the first build this has showed up on.
What your doing with that edit is changing it from using the color code to using the png.

You have to decompile the apk with APK Manager 4.9 then use Notepad ++ to do your edits then recompile the apk when done. Don't use regular notepad as it will cause you headaches one day.

I admit I'm not familiar with AOSP exactly but, in AOKP (specifically Task 650"s AOKP there is a setting to do this.
Settings>ROM Control>General UI>Transparency Settings.
If you haven't already, you might take a look and see if AOSP has these same setting options.
Not sure about 10.1, never ran it. I think tho just about all AOSP/AOKP ROMS have the transparency setting either in Rom Control or Hybrid Properties.
There is no rom control on the nightly build. The setting are like stock rom. The rest is just looking around and try. If it's works it's good, if it's don't work, try again with something else.
Now my phone is running cyanogenmod from may 15. With ix kernel from april 29 and touchwiz ui from the galaxy nexus.
If someone know with file to edit and wich line to change. The value must be 000000

Programing iOS-like Lockscreen

Hey Everyone,
this is my first Question, so I'm not allowed to post in the Development-Thread. So sorry for that...
I'm just programing an iOS-Like Lockscreen and I need some help..
This is a part of my layout1.xml I've already created:
Code:
<image x="system.point.x lt 104 ? 42 : ( system.point.x lt 492 ? (system.point.x - 77) : 415)" y="46" w="155" h="124" src="slider_arrow_pressed.png"/>
<unlockintent condition="(system.point.x gt 415)" type="default"/>
Just now when I unlock my phone the image "slider_arrow_pressed.png" moves from the left to the right.
This is how i realized the clock on my lockscreen:
Code:
<image x="125" y="85" w="108" h="180" src="'hour_'+system.time.hour1+'.png'"/>
<image x="233" y="85" w="108" h="180" src="'num_'+system.time.hour2+'.png'"/>
<image x="306" y="85" w="108" h="180" src="colon.png"/>
<image x="379" y="85" w="108" h="180" src="'num_'+system.time.min1+'.png'"/>
<image x="487" y="85" w="108" h="180" src="'num_'+system.time.min2+'.png'"/>
It consists of five images.
Now I'm trying to get my lockscreen-clock moving when I unlock my Phone (like iOS7 does).
Is it possible to realize more than one source (src="") for the unlocking image(slider)?
How could I realize the moving clock?
Thanks in advance!
This is my solution for now:
Code:
<press x="0" y="0" w="720" h="1200">
<touchrect x="0" y="0" w="500" h="1200"/>
<image x="system.point.x lt 104 ? 0 : ( system.point.x lt 777 ? (system.point.x - 0) : 777)" y="85" w="470" h="1164" src="'hour_'+system.time.hour1+'_l.png'"/>
<image x="system.point.x lt 104 ? 0 : ( system.point.x lt 777 ? (system.point.x - 0) : 777)" y="85" w="470" h="1164" src="'hour_'+system.time.hour2+'_r.png'"/>
<image x="system.point.x lt 104 ? 0 : ( system.point.x lt 777 ? (system.point.x - 0) : 777)" y="85" w="470" h="1164" src="colon.png"/>
<image x="system.point.x lt 104 ? 0 : ( system.point.x lt 777 ? (system.point.x - 0) : 777)" y="85" w="470" h="1164" src="'num_'+system.time.min1+'_l.png'"/>
<image x="system.point.x lt 104 ? 0 : ( system.point.x lt 777 ? (system.point.x - 0) : 777)" y="85" w="470" h="1164" src="'num_'+system.time.min2+'_r.png'"/>
<unlockintent condition="(system.point.x gt 600)" type="default"/>
I took the 5 pictures and pasted each on a transparent image of the same size(470x1164px).
Then I created for each (overlapping) image a systempoint at the same place.
This works so far, but the performance isn't really good.
My Lockscreen sometimes takes up to 3 seconds to appear when I wake up the phone.
Does no one have any idea?
This is how it looks at the moment:

this is pretty interesting. Could someone help this person out? I would like this too
Which version of Ios are you trying ?
You might want to check out these Ios themes that include the lockscreen:

You are right. The ios7 theme was kinda incomplete and lockscreen is not the ios7. ill search work a better one and post it up on that thread. the ios6 works fine tho.

Searched, but no working ios7 theme exists. Only ios6 themes. The one in the above link is the closest. You might just have to just change the lock style with some custom style that is similar to ios7, if exists.
Other option is to wait for the Emui2.0 theme that imitates io7. The have already uploaded it on the Huawei theme site, but kept it hidden/inaccessible for now.
