This happens all the time when my kindle fire uses all of the its battery. I tried three different methods of charging it and neither worked. If I plug it in it shows the twrp logo (the fire one) then shuts off about a half second later, and repeats. The battery can't be dead, can it?
Also make sure the power LED lights up when you plug it in.
It MAY be a bad USB connector on the Fire as this happened to my last one, so I had to return it to Amazon for a replacement.

Even when it's on it just doesn't charge, even when the charging light is on.
Use smirkit scripts to update your bootloader to 1.4a then charge on your computer starting from an off position via usb high level charging will bypass the charge but low level will not http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1500935 charge for a few hours after replacing your bootloader

I can't do that if I can't even get into the android os. I left it plugged in for a week, and now when you plug it in, it rapidly turns on and off. Might as well throw the thing out and get the google nexus tablet.

Sorry, I'm really new at this...
I don't know if it has anything to do with it, but ever since I re-installed the stock rom my KF just charges for a few minutes and then it stops. What I mean is the orange light is still on but the battery on the screen is not green anymore (like when it's charging). I tried everything already.
Is it a software or hardware issue?
If it's a hardware problem and I had rooted the KF and then installed the stock rom I can still return it?

Okay so basically my Fire is rooted and currently running gedeRom latest ICS rom. It comes on to the blue kindle fire intro screen with the power button green NOT orange. It turns off by itself literally after two seconds. It won't charge via usb or the original wall plug. Let me clarify what I said last.... basically the power button doesn't light up at all when I try to charge my kindle fire. I can't access recovery or anything for that matter because it shuts off so fast when I try to turn it on. My battery did die before I can charge it, but as of right now the damn thing doesn't want to charge and I think it is fully charged at the moment regardless of whether it lit up or not. Every time my Fire is dead it shows that animation screen that tells you to charge it and not that blue intro screen. At this point I really need any assistance I can get and I am more than happy to upload a video of the fire or whatever because at this point I am absolutely clueless. The computer does not pick up on the Kindle Fire at all even when I try to turn it on and plug it in right after. Nothing happened to the device or I didn't try to install or flash anything. It simply just died from no battery left and now the damn thing is giving me more trouble than I have encountered previously. Please if anyone can help me or guide me through this I'd really appreciate it.
Your version of FFF should help prevent that. Have you tried leaving it plugged in with the stock wall charger for a few hours?
plug in to wall, this turns on kindle so then it goes in a power loop due to flat battery. the answer is, plug in to mains charger then hold power for over 20 seconds, this will turn off kindle but should leave it charging. next leave it overnight. ie. a good few hours
edit. the led is sometimes missleading, ignor.

Thanks guys that is exactly what I will do and I will report back if it worked or not. Once again I really do appreciate you guys taking out the time to assist me in this issue that has never happened before. At the moment I am currently working on a HTC flyer I just bought from a friend and now I have to find the HTC Scribe for cheap somewhere lol. Take care.
Still not working...
I can't access anything (Tried so many times to get into recovery or something that I lost count at this point) because it shuts off so fast. At this point I know for certain it is not a problem with the battery not being charged, but in the same breath I know for certain that I have never had a problem like this that was so extremely problematic. At this point I have lost all hope and think it is messed up even though it was working beautifully on Gederom's ICS rom before it fully died. I charged it for the whole night and now it won't show a charge light when I plug it in to the original KF wall charger or it won't link up or charge with my PC. It also won't turn on when I have it plugged in to the OEM wall charger and it doesn't light up when plugged in to charge. I do have an actual video of me with the device showing exactly what happens when I try to turn on. Just go to my youtube channel under the name fatjoejr2001 and watch the latest video I posted. If anyone can please help me get on track I would really really appreciate it and would be extremely grateful. Thanks
power it off and charge it via usb with your computer it will take some time so set your computer to not sleep while you charge
from whst you sre describing it acting like your battery is flat. (i know you say you used the stock charger) sorry to ask, but are you sure, does it say 1.8A on it?
can you use your charger on another phone etc (to test it).
the only other thing i can think of is your bootloader is screwed ie fff.
can you catch fastboot in the time its on?
type fastboot getvar in a terminal from where ever you have fastboot installed on your pc
it should say "waiting for device".
then switch on kindle. does it do anything in your terminal?
if its not the battery

Yes I am a 110% sure I am using the right charger and I cannot access recovery since it shuts down so fast. It doesn't show up on my PC when connected via USB and it won't turn on when either plugged in to wall charger or to my computer. I can't use Kindle Fire Utility or any such methods when the device will not function while connected to my Windows 7 desktop. I am just completely oblivious to what is going on because I have a htc flyer and Samsung galaxy tab 10.1 and nothing like this has ever happened where I can't recover some how. What can I do at this point? From what I am hearing people think it may be the bootloader, but how do I go about fixing this when I can't even access anything on the Kindle fire????

I've tried and to no success. I charged it again last night and am currently charging it again with my PC, but I know for sure that isn't going to work and that is not what is causing this issue. My device was working fine till the battery fully drained and died. Now it is just non-functional. Maybe I didn't have the proper TRWP installed for ICS or the right bootloader?
ok if its dead you should try the fire kit
but it involves making a ubuntu flashdrive and booting with a script on the root of the flash drive, then taking off the back cover and shorting a pin out instide whilst inserting the usb cable. it sounds scary but its not too bad if you follow the instructions exactly.
(no shortcuts).
i will dig out the thread for you.

just take your tme and follow it.
if you need any help let me know where abouts you are in the process and what is going wrong.
this will work as it doesn't even need the battery connected.
it resets your partitions, reinstalls twrp &reinstalls fff.
hope this helps

Rooted Kindle Fire on CM10
My kindle's dead and I can't seem to charge it up. When i plug in my charger it boots up to the boot animation then just dies and starts all over.
I can't find my stock kindle charger, so what are my options?

I can't turn it off, the kindle is already off because it is dead. When i plug the charger in, it automatically turns on and it dies during the bootanimation and repeats..
The kindle shuts down before he will have time to power it down and let it charge. I just spent the last 48 hours battling this same thing.
Your options from what I can see:
1. Buy another stock Kindle charger.
2. Find another 5v charger you have laying around with at least 1.8A. If it's a micro-usb, just use that to try to charge the kindle. If you have a 5v charger with at least 1.8A that isn't for a micro-USB device:
3. Get your non-micro USB charger and a spare micro usb cable. Cut off the end of the charger (Right before the part where it connects to the device), open the cable's casing, and look for black and red wires. Strip these. Now, cut the end off of your USB cable that connects to the computer. Open the casing, look for black and red. Strip. Now, connect red from the charger to the red of the USB cable. Likewise with the black. Intertwine the fibers; make sure it's secure. Cover the newly joined part of the cable (wheree the wires are exposed) with electrical tape to keep the red and black from touching. Try to charge the kindle now. Leave it plugged in for hours; it may take this long for it to work.
If you can't charge the kindle as described above, I have one more method, but it's risky and it will definitely void your warranty if you haven't already done so (unlikely). I had to resort to this method tonight, having no idea of whether or not it would work. But thankfully, it worked and my Kindle is now finally charging. This is a last resort, however.

Do you know if this makes the Kindle Fire absolutely impervious to the low battery booting issue? Does FFF 1.4 fix it completely?
If I were to completely drain my battery as much as I could, would it still boot after I plugged a charger in?

last time I tested it my battery was at 1% I didnt get the please wait battery to low warning but I believe it did what it was intended to do previous tests proved that its completely effective on my daughter kindle a few month before just plugged it in and finally it booted by itself took about 15 mins for it to gain enough to boot, but it could take several hours on usb charge if its totally drained to the bone. Nothing is impervious

if you have fff 1.4a simply power it off and plug it to your computer to charge leave it alone for say a few hours then try again
Your kf may be turning on but can't start the system. You should holding the power button in 20s. The kf will be turned off. You just pluggin your charger to charge its.
You can unbrick your kf by many way. Search in this forum to find a right way for your case.

Will this method work on the kfhd too?
So I bought my Kindle Fire over a year ago before moving overseas. Rooted it with no problem, used it for six months then it started acting up. And by acting up I mean I get nothing out of it.
When I plug in a USB cable or the power cable I can't get my Kindle to turn on at all, nor does the power light turn on. When I don't have it plugged in it will turn on for maybe two seconds. It shows the yellow boot icon and says "Press power button for recovery" but then it turns itself off before I can do anything else.
At the time it all started there seemed to be no solution, but I thought now that some time had passed there may be some other options. I can't get anywhere to check anymore settings, nor does it show up on my computer not even in device manager. I've even tried the unbrick utilities but nothing can detect my Fire.
Any thoughts or suggestions?

In some rare instances, not even the AC charger will be enough to charge the battery. Why? The Kindle Fire's hardware does not have the ability to charge its battery offline. The device needs to be up and running so the ramdisk can handle the battery charging operation and that requires the CPU to be powered up. If the battery cannot provide enough power to the CPU, it shuts off automatically and the boot process stops or restarts... a classic catch-22.

So what if I have one of these rare cases? I've left it charging for days, and am also using official amazon cable and chargers for everything.
How am I supposed to use fastboot if my computer doesn't detect my Kindle?
I leave my Kindle to charge overnight everyday. Sometimes it will charge, and sometimes it won't, and it will turn off.. When it doesn't charge, I can usually charge it and power it up again. I guess it didn't charge this time, but now it doesn't turn on whatsoever. I tried charging it, resetting, and hard resetting, without any luck. Is my kindle bricked?, because I have never known of a brick happening like this.
The LED doesn't turn on or anything? Does anything happen when you plug it into a computer?

I am running CM 10 on my daughter's kindle fire and for some reason as of yesterday when I plug it in to charge it will come on, show the yellow triangle for recovery and then shut off. The green light does come on and then goes off, it just keeps looping like this for 24+ hours now not charging I guess. Does it need the battery replaced maybe?

I've got bad news for you. Your USB port is loose and about ready to crap out. If you can get it to charge (usually by leaning the plug so that the tip inside the KF is pointing downward somewhat, run a backup with TWRP, all of your SD card partition to a PC (lean the plug the same way when you connect it to the USB cord connected to the PC).
At this point you have an exact copy of where your Kindle Fire is as of this moment.
You're cheapest bet to fix this is to buy a Kindle Fire on Ebay that has a cracked screen (make sure it is first Generation, and buy one that is still functional, or the touch doesn't work but it charges fine) Cracking open a Kindle is pretty easy, and can be done with a flat head screwdriver, but a good phone opening tool would be better. They're cheap on Ebay. Use the iFixIt teardown (google it) to tear it down and remove the motherboards from each, and then swap them out. Re work using Kindle Fire Utility and copy your backup of the SD card back onto your fixed Kindle. Restore your backup using TWRP's restore command, and you've put yourself completely back in business.
Good Luck.
I have a Kindle Fire that I put the otterx partitioning scheme on. I kept it on a shelf for a few weeks, so the battery had ample time to die. Now, when I plug it in to AC, it turns on to the charging mode introduced in the otterx bootloader. Usually, however this charging mode has the battery percentage in the middle of the big battery icon. On my tablet, it doesn't. I have a fastboot cable and I attempted to reflash version 2.05 of the bootloader (I already had 2.05 installed) using the fastboot tool, but the tablet went into fastboot and then right back out to the "charging" mode. In this state I described earlier, the battery will not charge. I had the tablet plugged in overnight and it did not charge. Whenever I attempt to turn on the device from this state the power button glows a very faint orange color as it does when one attempts to turn the tablet on normally with <5% battery charge. ADB recognizes the tablet in this state, though I fail to see how that will help.
I really need the tablet to turn on soon, I have a conference coming up that requires it to be working.
Thanks all!

I suspect a bad charging port
I don't think so. The light, firstly, comes on only when I try to turn it on. I can pull out the charging cord and the light will still be glowing. This is not a charging light, it is a "very very low battery" warning light. So anyways, I dunno about a broken port because firstly, how did it manage to break just by sitting on a shelf? But also, the tablet can tell when I plug in my charger. I think that possibly the battery connector on the motherboard is faulty.
The charging port is the most likely issue, more so than an internal connector. My own fire has a port issue after 3 years of use, and I take care of my equipment. First gen Chromebooks have the same issue, a poorly attached microusb port.
Sent from my Amazon OtterX using XDA Free mobile app
I assumed that as much, but it still doesn't make sense. It will turn on when I plug it in. And there is nothing I did to break it! It was working perfectly. I put it on a shelf where it was never touched. It doesn't work. Oh, well. Time to bust out the soldering iron! And yes, I have repaired a charging port for a Kindle Fire before. Just never had these symptoms!
