Phone says it's charging but doesn't charge - Defy General

My Defy, when connected to USB or power outlet, says it's charging but doesn't charge. The battery percentage actually goes down as if it's not charging at all! Current charge is at 20%, and the phone shows no signs of charging.
It looks like my phone's battery is well and truly dead. Will I have to get a new battery, or is there maybe a workaround? Something like the McGyver method maybe....

[Q] Phone will only charge with power off ?????

When the power is on the TP2 the red LED charge light is on. the icon in the task bar changes to show that it is plugged in. but after sitting for hours the battery only drains further. If i power the TP2 down plug it up the red LED comes on and the battery charges fully to 100% then goes to green. I have bought new battery and charger. any ideas? note it is allowed to charge via usb in the settings. thanks folks
This is NOT a issue. It's a feature.
Phone does charge to 100%, but later the electricity is cut off until it reaches ~95% (or something like that). It prevents the battery from overcharging and saves important battery lifetime cycles. If it would be charged constantly from 99% to 100% the battery would be dead in a month.

[Q] Usb charging not good enough

I have noticed that whenever I charge my DHD through my laptop USB port, It discharges faster than on a full charge through the charger.
Am I imagining things?
I don't know about fast discharging, but mine takes forever to charge while connected through a USB :/ however, there are ROMS that have included fast USB charging either through the ROM itself or a kernel
Hit the thanks button if I helped you or if you likey my post trolol
Also just because the indicator light is green and battery reads 100% it doesn't mean the battery is at 100%. There is an amount of time that varies depending whether you charge via mains or USB after the light goes green/100% that the battery is actually fully charged.
I remember reading somewhere that in the case of USB charging it can actually take up to an hour after to the light turning green that the battery is at 100%. Something to bear in mind.
After the light has turned green and the battery shows 100%, power off the phone and charge for an additional hour or two. This should help.
Also use battery monitor app to watch the charging current--the battery is fully charged only when the monitor shows 0mA. Usually after the light has turned green and the battery showed 100%, the battery charging current is still 40-50mA.

[Q] Charging battery with an external charger

I'm trying to charge battery with an external charger. The battery has 4 point with two marked as plus and minus. The connection is OK as light starts blinking when i bring the two metallic points of charger in contact with the plus and minus points of the battery but battery is not being charged. I even left it overnight and when checked in morning the light was still blinking indicating that its still being charged but there was not power on it.
Nokia battery charges ok with it. Am i doing anything wrong?

if you are connecting it properly which i can't verify, and it still isn't charging, the battery is toast.
if the battery charges in your phone, but not in the charger, either you connected it wrong or your external charger is toast.

Well neither of them is toast. Also the connection of charger and battery is ok as indicated by the indicator lights. Somehow charger just doesn't charge this LU6200 battery. Charges others just fine

Even the LEDs show that the contact between charger and battery is o.k., there could no charging because of broken battery, sounds like that.

Xperia S Charging issue.

Hey, i've recently started to have issues with my S.
It sometimes de charges at quite a fast rate while on charge (this is while the screen is off also).
It doesn't show the red light while on and charging (when it does charge) and sometimes doesn't turn on while on charge while off for at least an hour.
It appears to happen when the battery is already fairly low, between 1-10% charge, the battery life is as decent as it gets with an S.
I have a feeling this probably might be the charger at fault, i've not tried any other chargers with it and i am using the charger and cable that
came with the phone.
This is not an issue of it not charging due to the cable, it charges no matter what placement.
Edit: It's now showing the red light while charging like it normally would and has fully charged again, i am going to fully charge and wipe battery stats and see what happens, i have a feeling it's because i've let the phone run down to low.

T325 Wont charge. (Old/brand New battery, indicator shows charging)

Heya, so i know there are threads about charging and other battery problems, but mine seems to be different.
My tablet was used in car almost always on charger, and after almost 2 years such usage battery was low capacity, and one day i noticed it wont charge at all, after turning on tablet battery 0% and shuting down. Indicator shows charge icon, but wont charge.
So i purchased new battery, installed it, battery was @ 56%, so i ran battery benchmark and played some games, wow those 56% lasted 2x longer than old 100% battery. So after it was below 10% i pluged in charger, indicator shows charging so i left it for some time, and after checking tablet i saw it wont charge ((
Same problem a with old battery... Anyone have ideas? May it be charging port?
Hi,
Did u charge it when on or off? And did u try other charger?
Yes used original, and lg chargers. It doesnt matter the tablet is on or off.
When turned off, and connect: screen go on showing battery, after that battery shows green at the bottom of battery and turns screen off after few sec. Pressing home button shows battery again. But as it dont charge it always shows green at the bottom of battery. When turned on simply battery shows 0 or 1% and turns off after a while.
Anyways, ordered new charging port as they are cheap. Will post outcome
Afraid that can be motherboard fried or somethink as before that happened tablet was ON with gaming bot running for like 24 hours.
Installed new charging port board, but wont help ((
