S-ON Bricked on 2.26.401.3 Main Version is older - HTC Wildfire S

Hey guys,
my phone has had a bad update and i am stuck in the official boot loader with s-on and running 2.26.401.3
every zip i try and flash by the sd card is coming back with main version is older, is there any newer version than this i can use or a word around, i cant seem to get adb to work but fastboot does

What's your bootloader version? Have you tried RUU_Marvel_S_HTC_Europe_2.26.401.3_Radio_47.23e.35.3038H_7.57.39.10M_release_261695_signed.exe?
If so, I guess you tried to update with OTA. It has an another numbering (19.26.401.3). That's why you get that message.
Try that:
Download:
http://fotadl.htc.com/OTA_Marvel_S_...2.14.401.1_release_261810uuzn2yxubjlshdle.zip
There is a firmware.zip file inside. Unpack it, change the name to PG76IMG.zip and try to flash.
If you will still get problems the only way is to unlock your bootloader with HTCDEV and change some numbers in the misc partition. There is program to that (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1530864). But remember: you have to unlock your bootloader and flash the CWM recovery.

Thanks for the reply buddy, that doesn't seem to have worked, it went through and flashed everything fine but now I cant get it on at all, the screen seems to come on but it's just a dim black screen I can't get into hboot or flash from a zip now

2.26.401.3 comes with hboot 1.09.0099 which is unlockable. just go through the htcdev unlocking steps

Sorry for that. After flashing the phone boots in the recovery mode for a while. Check the forum - there is many threads about the black recovery screen. It's a issue of the new Wildfire S. Try to remove battery several times and enter hboot.

"it went through and flashed everything fine but now I cant get it on at all" same here ... did you managed to boot it ???

[Q] Big problem with htc...

I rooted my phone 6 months ago and 1 month ago it started restarting out of a sudden. Another problem was that it did not turn on the first time, so i had to get the battery out and try again to turn on the phone. When i saw that i decided to upgrade with the official Gingerbread Rom for the Desire. Now the problems started getting more and more serious. My phone remains stuck in the htc logo screen...it does not go into recovery and when i tried installing the initial ruu, to try to take it back to warranty it said that the bootloader version is not good. Any ideas how to solve this problem? I would really appreciate some help...
Maybe providing some info, like bootloader information, phone information....
Current Hboot is 1.02.0001, radio 5.17.05.23 and i wish to install RUU_Bravo_Froy2_UK_2.14.207.1_Radio_32.44.00.32U_5.09.05.30_2_release_144166_signed. I have tried to install the ROM by puting the rom file from the ruu on the memory card and renaming it as PB99IMG.zip. Once i turn on the phone in hboot, it loads the image and after 3 minutes is says "Main Version is older! Update Fail!". I have also tried to install the ruu by connecting it to the computer and booting the phone in fastboot. It said the current image version is 3.14.405.1 and the version I will install will be 2.14.207.1. After about 5 minutes in the install process it gets stuck in "Updating Signature" and after that the process stops and the following message is shown:
"ERROR[140]:BOOTLOADER VERSION ERROR
The ROM Update Utility cannot update your Android phone.
Please get the correct ROM Update Utility and try again."
I am currently quite desperate..
Your HBOOT is newer than the one you want to flash.
You nned to downgrade it, which means you have to S-Off your device with revolutionary.io AFAIK.
Then flash one of the HBOOTs from alpharev.nl (downgrader) - then you can flash the RUU.

Not sure where you would get an AFAIK, but As Far As I Know, it doesn't actually exist

Can you please tell me how to s-off the phone if the phone cannot start?i tried in fastboot but the software on the computer didn't detect the phone...
You need to be running fastboot in the CMD.exe...
You need to follow the guide for ADB first, then you can use fastboot to flash a new image!

Did you manage to solve it ? I have the same problem , stuck with the boot loop issue after flashing Official RUU 2.3 upgrade. Only have access to fastboot, can't use adb to downgrade.

Yes, I had s-off with alpharev. The problem started with boot loop on alpharev screen. I flashed amoled RUU by mistake and had slcd brick.
Now I have installed the correct RUU but still either get stuck on boot loop or on HTC screen. Wonder if the system partitions are screwed up or if they can be restored without adb or s-off.
i did not manage to do anything. all i want to do is to put back the initial ruu so i can take the phone back to warranty. But i don't know how to downgrade hboot.
can anyone please tell me how can i downgrade my hboot? The biggest problem is that i cannot enable usb debugging because my phone is stuck with the bootloop.

Boot into Fastboot and then run RUU. Setup should see it.
I managed to reinstall the official Android 2.3 RUU but the problem is that i want to install the RUU_Bravo_Froy2_UK_2.14.207.1_Radio_32.44.00.32U_5.09.05.30_2_release_144166_signed RUU. If I were you, I'd S-OFF with revolutionary, flash recovery and flash a ROM.. when you're S-OFF, there is a way to downgrade... I just haven't got time to search now sorry
That's from my understanding that you re-did the 2.3 RUU and your phone now works.. right?
Unfortunately the phone doesn't start now either
but did it work before? have you tried leaving it for about half an hour and tried turning it on again? (I've seen faults like that). If not try the RUU again, then S-OFF - which makes life SOOOOOOO much easier

[Q] Bricked Desire - Can't get past bootloader

After reading Bortak's guide, I was still unable to fix this bootloop as I don't have a goldcard, and it seems like you need a functional Desire to create one.
The situation is:
> Desire can boot into Fastboot (Power button + back button), but attempting to enter recovery causes a boot loop (Carrier splash screen)
> Attempting to enter recovery directly (Power button + volume down) causes a boot loop
> I lost the MicroSD with this phones' recovery on it, all I have is a spare blank MicroSD
I'm wondering, is it possible to flash a new recovery off the SD card, through fastboot?
Or, can I do this through a USB connection somehow? (I currently have the latest HTC Sync installed)
Thanks for any help!
Edit: My Desire is S-ON (I swear it used to be S-OFF, but who can remember, I haven't picked this phone up for ages) and HBOOT is 0.75.0000
S-on users cant flash a custom recovery through fastboot. It can be done only via the unrevoked method. What exactly did you do to cause this? Dont you have your own RUU?
I've got similar problem, but i don't have root.
I made S-OFF with revolutionary and rovolutionary couldn't flash clockworkmod. Previously, I didn't know that I have to do root... so i wanted to do s-on to do this root. I downgraded phone to hboot 0.80 as they said on alpharev website. But now, I can't get out from fastboot. Every time, when i'm robooting, it goes to fastboot.
Please, could You help me?
Flash 2.3.3 RUU via fastboot and use revolutionary again.
Which one from those
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=695667
is 2.3.3?

When I got my Desire HD, I flashed Oxygen rom on this Desire and gave it to a friend. I have no idea how it got in its current state. I'm downloading the latest official RUU now.
If someone could provide some instructions on how to flash the RUU with the phone in it's current state that would be awesome
As long as you can get into fastboot not all is lost, there will be a way of flashing it was a stock rom

Boot phone into fastboot mode, connect phone to computer and start the downloaded RUU.exe on your computer.
The RUU recognized the phone, but it refused to update due to wrong bootloader version. Looks like my RUU was not the right one, back to searching again.
If you have GSM and not a hboot with nummber 6.93.1002, the 2.3.3 RUU should work for you:
http://www.htcdev.com/process/legal_download/152
Ok I found the correct RUU (Telstra) and was able to flash everything except the radio, which failed. Attempted to retry twice but same result.
Now I have the grey HTC logo with the exclamation triangles in the corners.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Sorry mate, but radio brick is unfixable (as far as I know).

Thanks, that RUU flashed successfully! It said rom update complete and so on. At least now I'm making progress.
However, the rom doesn't load and I get a bootloop. I've now got the normal white HTC splashscreen appearing, then the screen flashes black, the phone vibrates 5 or 6 times, and I'm back to the splashscreen again.
I'm able to boot into bootloader (HBOOT 1.02.001 apparently) but not recovery.
I'm not familiar with adb and all that, all I can do is follow instructions, but in short, without being able to load a rom to tick the box for usb debugging, is there any way to S-OFF and or flash CWM if I can get the computer to recognise the phone (while its sitting in bootloader or fastboot mode) with the HTC Sync USB drivers or equivalent?
I'm going to say some probably unrelated words and phrases that I've read in the last days forum trawling, maybe it will jog someones memory:
> Fastboot commands
> Revolutionary hboot drivers
> USB brick
I know its probably time to lay the old Desire to rest, but I'd love to squeeze some more use out of it, I loved that phone.
Greatly appreciate the help
You did not get any errors when flashing RUU? Okay, cool. Check if you still have an ext-partition on your SD card. Maybe this let the romboot loop.
With revolutionary you will be able to get S-OFF and root in two simple steps:
http://revolutionary.io
But read the documentary site very carefully before doing anything!

[Q] Can't update HBOOT no matter what?

Right. Let me try being as precise as possible. It's time to bid goodbye to my WFS so I need to get everything back in stock. As far as I remember the phone was locked to Vodafone and I've been using a goldcard throughout it's Xda life. The current HBOOT version is 1.08.0099, been HTCdev unlocked and as mentioned, I've been trying to get everything back in stock.
Although I run on a goldcard, I can never get a PG76IMG file to run via HBOOT (The main reason I'd like to try upgrading it in the first place?). It says wrong image error every time (Tried it on different files so can't be a file issue)(Also remade another goldcard and still remains the same).
An RUU exe file always ended up on an ERROR 190: Unknown error regardless of whether it was a Vodafone RUU or not. My only choice to flash a stock ROM was via fastboot and I did successfully flash the boot, recovery and system images on that method. HBOOT and Radio flash via fastboot ended up in a signature verification failure.
So I'd like to know if there's any way I could possibly update my HBOOT or even run an RUU exe or PG76IMG without an error?
PS. I also noticed that after flashing stock recovery, the recovery always ends up in a red triangle on the screen? I'd have to press Vol.up+ Vol.down+ Power to get it at the Android system recovery. Is this normal? Also says 'E:Can't open /cache/recovery/command' in yellow at the bottom of the same screen.
Hboot update
I recently updated by WFS hboot. First I had to unroot then relock the bootloader before applying the update as described in #4 of http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=22742315#post22742315
or http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=21231962&postcount=2
Then I had to unlock it via HTCdev and root it again.
Hope that helps
Thanks for that! Seem to have fixed it using the bootloader controller tool.
My question about the stock recovery going into the red triangle screen still remains though? As far as I remember, it did enter the Android system recovery directly after selecting recovery in bootloader mode?
EDIT: Just added pictures in order of what happens after selecting recovery. The 3rd screen comes in after I press Vol.Up+ Down+ Power at the 2nd screen. Can someone please confirm if that's how it's supposed to be in stock? (The last time I saw my phone stock was ages back! Sorry!)
Bump. Can someone please confirm if that's what stock recovery 'normally' looks like?
Yep, I believe that is stock mate.

[Q] Dinc 2 stuck in bootloop, can't flash PB32IMG.ZIP

I've been trying to get this Dinc 2 to work for sometime now. I bought it used so I don't know what version of software it has.
It displays the white "HTC" screen for a few seconds, then goes dark. A few seconds later the white HTC screen shows, etc etc etc. I can get into FASTBOOT with PWR/Vol-.
I've tried flashing various versions of the ROM (saving the file as PB32IMG.ZIP on the SD card). It seems to read the file but then comes up with the "wrong image" message.
The previous owner says he unlocked the the phone using the online HTC unlock, and it does say "UNLOCKED" at the top of the FASTBOOT screen. I read someplace that you had to relock the phone in order to flash the PB32IMG.ZIP file but I don't know how to do this.
I can't use ADB because I can't get my computer to recognize the phone.
Any suggestions would be greatly welcomed!

Well, I've pretty much managed to screw up my HTC 10. I'm on the latest 3.16.401.2 WWE, S-ON, with the bootloader relocked and stock recovery. I can access the download mode, the bootloader and the stock recovery, but I can't unlock the bootloader since I can't active the OEM unlock option. The phone doesn't boot, it's stuck in a bootloop at the white HTC logo.
Using the OTA available for WWE gives me the Status 7 fail error. Is there anything else I can do, besides from waiting for the Oreo WWE RUU?
Thanks in advance.

HTC 10 boot loop
Hello guys,
my wife yesterday tried to update OTA (our htc 10 are completely stock) to OREO from Nougat 2.41.401.41. Something went wrong and it's stuck in a boot loop. I can get in bootloader and tried to install the ota, which I downloaded, manually from SD card, but after verifying it says "error: partition has unexpected content". Is there a way to get the phone back working even with data loss? Thanks really for the help, the phone has never been modified, I am getting crazy reading the forums but I am a total noob ?
i have seen i need a ruu, possibly zip since I can't boot and activate USB debug. Can someone please share a run.zip link at least equal to 2.41.401.41 (European)? Thank you very much
I have the same issue, HTC 10 in a boot loop after applying the OTA Oreo update. I'm able to get into bootloaders and such, but i need the data thats on the phone... Allready tried taking out the SIM and SD-card. Does anyone know if this can be fixed?
Same problem here!
After Reading what the rest of you lot mentioned here, i have the exact same problems! Installed the update from Nougat to Oreo, and the phone went into bootloader! I was stupid enough to delete most of it through TWRP, and even dumber to RELOCK it so that TWRP is out of the Picture. Download mode appears, but the recovery just brings me back to bootloader. Oh yes, and the OS is missing.
and fastboot / adb wont recognize the HTC Connected to the PC anymore.. Guess this is a total Brick? should i send it back since i have a warranty? Will they be able to fix this?
I too was stupid and relocked it while reverting to stock. At this point I had also flashed the stock recovery and recovered to what turned out to be a non-functional backup. (Stuck in boot-loop)
Thankfully Fastboot did however still work while in download mode, and I was able to unlock it again by flashing the same unlock_token.bin that I have kept since I unlocked it the first time, slapped in twrp again and I was good for another go.
M8 can you help out linking some procedure for a noob like me? Should I use a ruu? I am completely stock
I'm no expert in this my self just FYI, but installing a RUU is usually a straight forward process.
You need to download a ruu for your particular CID (Depens on where the phone was sold and what -if any- carrier the phone is locked to.)
I have an european unlocked one so the RUU I used was this: https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=817550096634797504
You can find more in this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-10/how-to/stock-stock-collection-recovery-ruu-ota-t3359297
Download the ruu (just short of 2GB in size) , rename it to 2PS6IMG.zip and put it in the root of an SD-card and insert it into the phone.
Reboot it into download mode by holding power+volume down until the grey HTC logo appears.
It should now detect the zip file in the sd-card and ask you to install it. Press volume up to confirm.
This will re-install everything (System image, recovery, firmware etc) all existing data gets destroyed.
Worked like a charm for me, and was able to do a Oreo OTA right away after the first boot.
Thanks a lot for your help, I'll give you a feedback asap.

I have an Indian HTC 10 (SD 820) full stock, no modifications. One day the phone froze and i restarted it and from that day it hasn't booted up. The htc logo shows up while it vibrates, then again the same screen. Stuck in a bootloop. When i get to bootloader and boot to recovery, the grey htc logo comes for 1 second and then it goes back to the original boot animation and it loops again until the phone dies. Whenever i plug my phone to the charger, it immediately gets stuck into the boot loop. Please help me !! Any fix please !

Hold the power button and the volume down button to reboot to download mode. From there you can flash an RUU.zip to fix it.
What is needed to direct you to the proper RUU.zip to download and flash is for you to boot to download mode and post here what it says next to "OS"
