So my wifi was working fine monday after noon.....come home that night and it will not turn on. The only thing i though could be the culprit was the kernel i just flashed. I installed a known working kernel and it still would not come on. Did odin to stock still same result. Searched for hours for a solution and could only find a few posts of the same type of issues on various forums. So was wondering was this ever found to be a known issue or is a occasional defect............below is my logcat for the wifi, which i get no matter what rom or kernel im on.

See http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=28036. The only partial workaround I've found is rooting, installing https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fardjad.android.wifixmanager and rebooting/power cycling only when the wifi has been turned off successfully.

What does the logcat say when you try to enable wifi? Sounds like the wifi driver is crashing. Might have to start from a clean stock set up

A logcat is a basic trouble shooting tool. If you are gonna flash custom roms you want to learn to use the tools for when something goes wrong. A search on how to do a logcat will get you started.

Ok that could be many things. What rom are you on?

form offical rom ..

If it is hardware then it will need to be sent I'm for repair. Most likely it is software. Maybe from a bad flash. I would reflash the rom or try a different radio/modem depending on the device.

My HTC Desire had the 'unable to scan for networks' problem.
I tried
Factory Reset (This seemed to work for lots of people)
deleting /data/misc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf
copying wpa_supplicant.conf from a phone with a working wifi
deleting /data/local or /data/misc
I read tapping the wifi on button quickly worked - and I was that desparate!
New Battery Cover (Has the wifi antenna in)
In the end I got a new upper board (the one with the camera on) and fitted this the wifi works straight away.

Well suddenly wiring will not enable on my nexus. Everything else works, I cleared userdata davlik and cache reinstalled my rom and still no go. So I flashed cm9 thinking it was a rom issue but it still will not enable. Any ideas?

connect device to pc, 'adb logcat >> logcat-1.txt', enable wireless. paste it here so people might try to help you.

Try flashing a custom kernel like franco or fugumod.
I did that didn't fix it. I just put it all back to stock and locked the bootloader. Guess ill send it back...

yeah, i would do that, if reflashing stock doesn't solve it. if it still happens, lock your bootloader and turn it in.

Yeah I've reflashed stock and locked boot loader hopefully Negri will rma it for me.

So i flashed Camera4.2 and after it booted my wifi wont turn on.. it says error.. Anyway to fix this without reflashing whole rom? i removed all libs and apks that came from the zip and still no luck...

I would dirty-flash the ROM. Clear cache and dalvik, reflash the ROM, and reboot. It will replace the files from Camera 4.2, and since it's the exact same ROM it shouldn't have problems.

I would but i have taken a lot of things out of the stock rom and didn't want to again :/ Shouldn't have flashed that haha wasn't worth it
The Camera 4.2 shouldnt effect wifi..

WIFI module seams dead and seems that for the same problem u'll get a replacement.
I can't ask for replacement seen that got no warranty any more.

Well.
I forgot to say that i've rooted and installed jellybeam
Let's say i'd like to connect it to internet...
First way would be buy a new chip Jorjin WG7310 WLAN/BT/FM Combo Module and resoldering
Second way would be via usb tunnelling / reverse tethering throug usb cable but until now i wasn't able to make it work.
Any ideas or advices?
