First I apologize if there is already a post for this question. This is my situation. A friend of mine has the HTC Evo 4g, it was purchase through Page plus. The phone appears to be rooted.
I'd like to unroot the phone, restore it to its original rom so I can add it to my sprint account. Is this possible? And if so, any help will be greatly appreciated. I have never rooted a phone, so I will need step by step instructions.
Thnx in advance, Charles

Please post what it says on the bootloader screen. pull the battery, reinstall it, hold vol up, hold power. After a few seconds it will boot into a text screen. Is it unlocked? S-on or s-off? and what it the hboot version?

The red triangle is the stock recovery. What update are you trying to do? The software update? That has nothing to do with activating the device.
You should probably download and run the RUU for your software version, to essentially start you from scratch. However if the device was activated on carrier, and you're trying to get it working on Sprint, that might pose a different problem. You'll probably need to call Sprint.
And I'm still curious to know what made you say that it appears to be rooted. The fact that it wouldn't activate? Rooting doesn't prevent that.

I read on line to check if a phone is rooted to download a root app from the google play store and it downloaded fine, but I didnt check to see if the app worked. Most apps download but I get an error with most.
Well, I have a problem. I am using viperx, with my phone unlocked, obviously. I was listening to music when it suddenly reboot. It runs in bootloader. And... with a message LOCKED and security warning. I dont know what happened. It was in my car holder, I didn´t touch anything... If I reboot, it says for a second "this build is for development purposes only. Do not distribute outside of htc without htc's written permission. Failure to comply may lead to legal action". Then back to the bootloader.
The phone was perfectly cold when it reboots...

I was using the last viperx rom...
I would try to charge it using the charging script.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1738274
As your phone doesn't start up / boot at all there might be something completely different that's messed up, I'm guessing it's faulty hardware that has first caused your phones software to go haywire and now the phone simply won't start. You could try the charging-script above but I'd probably go for the warranty, HTC might be a bit tricky about that though.
well his phone says locked and not relocked, the only thing there is the security warning, but i guess he can claim never to have rooted the phone.
i´m not sure about it though
Unlock again.

Hi i have a HTC Wildfire that I thought i would repair for a friend, i've managed to get to fastboot through power+volume down, it says that the device is S-OFF, what do i do next?
If its a rom i have to install, i would prefer to install the stock sense rom.
thanks for your help in advance.

OK, when i boot into recovery, i get a picture of a phone with a red exclamation mark and nothing else, however when i try and flash a recovery through fastboot the above error occurs, i have no idea if this device has an unlocked bootloader but it is S-OFF
On some devices its easier with fastboot commands in others not. On the wildfire you can just place a file on your sd-card Boot into bootloader and the recovery gets flashed automaticly
So wait i will look for the file or link
EDIT: Here it is download and place in the root of your SD card
http://www25.zippyshare.com/v/70647552/file.html
If the bootloader asks you anything selects yes (obviously)
Btw the red thing you See is the Android stock recovery

Ive tried this and it says "no image or wrong image" it does detect the zip but it says that message after.
im on hboot 1.01.0002, is there a manual way of updating this because ive tried HTC dev unlock RUU but since i can't boot into the phone i get error 190.
miniAndroidian said:
Is it really S-off cause normally s-off devices should have a 6. ,0.8 Or 1.6 and something hboot? I cant look on my wf now cause im on vacation
But with this hboot ruu should normally work. Are you flashing the 2.2 ruu?
If everything doesnt work s-off it again with revolutionary and see what happens

I don't think i clarified this properly, but i found this phone at my friends house in a cupboard and it was broken, so i don't know its history, but according to him the phone has been unlocked from 3 UK to any network by one of those mobile phone shops, and after a year or so of use, the phone randomly got stuck in a bootloop one day.
here is a screenshot of the bootloader:

Hi there,
The phone is rooted.
I've proceeded with the latest update today (~12mb size), don't remember the exact version.
It said it fixes some system bugs, etc.
After the update installed the phone won't load, stucks on the changing color logo.
Cannot access the recovery mode option in the boot menu (Vol+Power), says "no command", if press and hold Vol+ and Power again the phone restarts and enter the boot logo again.
Has anyone ideas how this can be fixed?

See http://forum.xda-developers.com/elephone-p8000/help/boot-loop-ota-upgrade-t3246203.
Post #16 describes how get into recovery from the 'no command' screen, and my post #12 describes how I managed to get it flashed using the SP Flashtool.
(Note my point no,5 - all I needed to do is press 'Download' first, THEN attach the powered off phone.)
Good luck!

Actually, what you need to do is format the data partition or write the empty data.img file over the data partition which in effect does the same thing. And the later one is also what happens when your download entire rom using sp flash.

I didn't read official forum. However you do loose your warranty if device is rooted, thus the device manufacturer owes you nothing. OTA worked fine before I rooted my device.
Btw, I got my phone back to life by re-flashing the entire ROM, just in case.

The only thing you need to do is reinstall the añl the system with spflashtool. Never and remember never you can update any android with a ota if you are a rooted user.
If you speak spanish you can search in the youtube channel AndroidMxL to ser how you can reinstall the original ROM on your android.

Relocking was a bad idea, you just ran out of all options.
I'm not sure if there is any way around enabling OEM unlocking.
Try the previous suggestion.

Snapdragons are truly unbrickable. But I'm not sure I know enough to help.

I'm fairly sure fastboot boot <image> doesn't even work if the bootloader is unlocked on the op3.
Also, it looks like recovery did get flashed.
Try rebooting to recovery?
Power off by holding power button, then hold vol down + power.
Then if you are booted into stock recovery, just side load the stock ROM.
