HI All
Sorry to double post but I really don't know what to do.
I tried to install 2 ROMS, Mondaco's and DeFrost, however I am getting the same problem on both, "Not in range".
Its finding other connections and they are normal, I can click on them and then insert password, but I cannot do the same for mine.
Do you have an idea what can be happening? It was working fine with the normal Eclair ROM. Do I need to do something to fix the problem?
Thanks for your help

Go to the wifi settings, menu, advanced, regulatory domains and select number of channels to use (14 ?).
Your router is probably using channel 12, 13 or 14.
Go to wireless settings, press menu and go to the advanced settings. Then change the domain from 11 to 13(EUROPE and others) or 14 (primarily Japan).

Maybe this helps:
go to wireless lan setting, press menu for advanced settings, select the first option ("rechtliche domain" on my german rom ) and then "14 channels".
Hope that helps
EDIT: someone else was faster
WOW thanks guys
love the XDA forum, always a solution for every problem
Another thing, when i do the HTC Sync, I cannot get the device recognised by my PC.
What can I do?
Thanks a lot
Try reinstalling HTC Sync, reboot PC and then connect the phone.

Hi MasDroid
Thanks. I tried that but the phone still cannot be recognised by the HTC Sync. Just to check if I am doing everything ok, I have a cooked Rom, so when I connect the phone with USB, it asks me if I want to use the SD Card, and I say yes. Do I need to do something else if I want to just sync the phone?
Thanks

Whenever you connect your phone via USB, you should be prompted to choose from four options:
Charge only
Disk Drive
HTC Sync
Internet Sharing
Choose the HTC Sync option.
If this screen does not appear for you, then go to Settings > Connect to PC. Select Ask Me and you can change the default connection type.

Not sure where that option is then as i am not currently running a Froyo ROM
Can i ask, do you have the USB Debugging option enabled? Before you connect your phone via USB again, go to Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > Development and try enabling the USB Debugging option, see if it detects your phone then.
Well I do not think its on Froyo, or I cannot find it
It was working when I had stock. Tried that already, does not work

I think this may not be showing because you are not running a Sense UI based rom? HTC Sync may not be available to you for that reason maybe.

Well as I said before that I am not running stock.
Anyways, I will just give it up then, maybe I will find something else to sync
Thanks MasDroid.

Cool guys. I discovered this solution this morning and wanted to come and share
HTC Desire running Defrost 6.1
When I connect it,all I see is the USB debugging icon. Any help please? I'd really hate mounting/unmounting all the time.
I believe I had this problem when I removed the Setup Wizard from my phone and it also killed my Home button.

I've frozen some apps via TB but I'm sure those weren't the problems.
I've deleted Setup Wizard a while ago and my phone was working fine.
Yeah, I've been doing some heavy ROM cooking and reflashing and my USB problem was definitely caused by removing Setup Wizard and I think Crash Handler/Crash Reporter, something along those lines. I put them back, reflashed and it was fine.

Sorry, it's CrashMonitor and Setup Wizard. I think there's a link somewhere here in the forums for all the default APKs for just this kind of occasion, so you won't have to reflash.

Yeah,I don't have an MTP app in apps/TB. If this works I love you
and it WORKS! Thank you so much.
Im also having this problem. It worked and now when I connect to USB it fails to install driver.. what am I missing? Is it this MTB app. I'm not technically proficient so any links would be appreciated.
Edit - Just checked phone and i have an MTPapp when i look for apps to freeze or backup. It's installed and everything but the USB still doesn't connect. It just goes to install a driver and then fails.

my question is, is the mtpAPP there the same with mtpApp for 2.3.3 (4.0.a.2.368)?

Everything should be stock - Rom and Recovery for Universal Exploit to work.
Sent from my HTC Desire S using Tapatalk 2
Ok, so I ran the tool choosing 'Universal Exploit' and 'Flash HBOOT Image' and it all goes swimmingly until the device reboots. I get taken to the phone+red triangle warning screen and a 'cannot find file' error pops up (see attached image file).
Any ideas? Device is defo set to USB Debugging mode. Was plugged in as 'Charge Only' - should this suffice? Or should it be connected via HTC Sync or something else?
Cheers for any help OP.
P.S. Was able to reboot 'phone fine, so nothing bad has happened

OK, so I tried your app again but this time didn't bother with Flash HBOOT Image and everything appeared to go OK.
However, I noticed in the log that 3 of the files (Busybox, su and Superuser.apk) had failed to copy across (out of memory?), despite the operation apparently having been completed (see attached jpg).
Also, when the device had rebooted, I tried to use the Application Status Bar and received the following error message:
"application Status Bar (process com.android.systemui) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again."
Click to collapse
The above message also contained a 'Force Close' button which on pressing obviously disables the Status Bar.
The device is still working, other than this error, but I'm not seeing any change to root capability - guessing it's because Busybox, su and Superuser failed to copy across? Could I just copy them on to the device manually?
Cheers in advance for any info.
Free up some memory on your device and be sure to delete everything in /data/local/tmp also. I will add error checking for the out of memory error in next release.
Sent from my HTC Desire S using Tapatalk 2
Unfortunately, after doing the above, running the app is still giving the same error and the Application Status Bar is also still giving the same error.
To make doubly sure, I backed up my device and restored it to Factory Settings (which cured the original app Status Bar error). This also meant that all data was erased from the device so memory shouldn't be an issue. However, as said above, the app is still returning the same memory error?
I'm happy to keep giving this a go so let me know your thoughts.
Hopefully we'll get to the bottom of it.

It's not fake and as a recognised developer in the xda community I can safely say there is no possible way my app can brick your device unless you flash an incorrect hboot which then is your own fault and risk!

Don't worry, chap, I don't think there's anything fake about what you're trying with this app. Unlike the person above who claimed you were. I mean, £500 to un-brick a Wildfire S?!?! You could probably buy 4 of them brand new for that amount of cash!
Is it worth me giving your updated version of the app another go? If the app finds an error with HTC patching the exploit will the app simply terminate and return my device to its original state?
Any info greatly appreciated.
Cheers.

That sounds as though your phone isn't actually reaching the facebook page but is being redirected somewhere else. Are you sure it's not something to do with your wifi network? Can you get to facebook OK from a laptop?
I'd expect this sort of thing if you were connected to a hotspot without having logged into the hotspot from the phone.

My GF with Samsung Galaxy S, and all others that I know, dont have problems...

I wonder if your issues has something to do with the Facebook integrated on Sense. You guys using Sense roms by any chance?

Same here since a couple of days. It seems to be a problem on FB side, but in some way related to the software of the phone. I own a Desire with RcmixS Rom Gingerbread. I flashed it with an ICS Rom and it worked after that. Come back to Gingerbread after factory wipe and problem is there again.

Trying logically to understand why this happens only on Desire with gingerbread (since on my with ICS it was working) and looking at the error I thought it could be a problem of certificates that are not up to date, in this case may be only on a specific android distribution like the one we have on Desire... (app developer are maybe forgetting our loved phone since it's getting older) so I tried to understand how to update this certificates and I've finally found that there are some files where they are stored inside a system directory.
Here attached you can download a zip with some certificates I found. To install them you have to put the file on the SD, go into recovery mode and then simply choose to install a zip from SD card. Reboot... My FB started working again! I had tried everything before this without success... so maybe this will work for you too.
Let me know! :fingers-crossed:

I BET it's because facebook.com have automatic activated some new security settings, https, and (dont know the english word for it) safe login, where you will receive an sms the first time you log on from a new unit...

And I was receiving an sms so that i could log on.
Funny part is, that those certificates looks older than the ones I allready got, but they are a little bit bigger.

Yes, having LeeDroid you should already have a cooked recovery... just power off the phone, keep pressed vol - and power... choose recovery with vol buttons and enter with power button. You should be now on you recovery (probably clockworkmod). Choose install zip from SD and select certs.zip you can find on my previous post and that you have to put on your SD. At the end reboot. You should now be able to use FB.
installed the certs and Facebook is now working. :good:

No låvisa, the folder is on the internal memory, but you can't write on it if you are not rooted. You can probably apply the file from the recovery also without root, but you need a cooked recovery. To permanently install the clockworkmod recovery, that is not the stock one and that have more option like the one to install zip, again you would need to be root. Instead I think you can (I've never do it this way, sorry...) install the clockworkmod recovery temporary without root from your stock recovery, just the time to flash my zip.
Here you can find all the available way to install the clockworkmod, look at the update.zip method:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/ClockworkMod_Recovery
First of all, sorry if this has been covered but I couldn't find any solution that seems related to this problem or phone (I get some search hits for the S3).
So I have been getting this message and I think sync is screwed up. I can't say exactly how but, for example, I used to get an email on the mail manager and the gmail notification would be gone. Now I get both and both stay on.
The only solution I found while searching is going to settings (and here's my probably faulty translation from S3 to the HOX) --> Apps --> -->all--> Download manager and enable it. Well, mine is enabled and I still get the error... Help???
Looks like gapps (Google play... ect) wasnt installed properly. Try reinstalling the proper gapps package for your rom.

Hi guys. I know that some of the proposed solution is to enable the downloads. For note 2 users this problems continues to happen. There is 2 downloads app for note 2 and both of them are enabled. I tried to disable the download app with the icon pointing downward and enable the download app with the Android logo. Fortunately, the process.com.google.gapps has stopped is not yet popping for two days now.
I hope this will help. Thanks!
Well, "downloads" says it runs in the same process as "download manager" and has access to contacts. I think it's the contacts sync that caused this one my HOX but I didn't get any more error messages after reinstalling the gapps package.
EDIT: Emails often gave me problems too and that was the worst of it as it syncs with gmail a lot more often than contacts do.
I think that this issue has few ways to be solved, because the process is related to some google apps and services. I tried almost everything I read, but finally the solution was when I deleted my Google account and readded. I think my phone contacts got somehow messed up and syncing crashed the process. So final for me - delete Google account and add again was the solution.
