If it is a "PEAP" authentication problem, try the supplicant patch in this thread:
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=34212
This worked for me at work, Jelly Bean would not authenticate once I upgraded. Applied the patch and good to go...
Can i use this patch if we are using WEP?

I'm not sure, I do know there were quite a few people with WiFi issues with JB on Verizon phones. This patch fixed my WPA issues.
I haven't read of anyone else having WEP issues.

i had no problem for the 2+ years i was tethering and using it as my home internet. then one day a few months ago, i got the same message from tmobile. point is, it only takes one time. it has nothing to do with jelly bean or ics, or gingerbread. now i pay $15 a month to tether and use it as my home internet.
Alright, thanks. I hope that is not the case.
Does anyone else have any other experience after switching to jelly bean? Anyone replicate this problem or have an app that works?

Also, I have tried wireless tethering, which is based on same open source software.
It says it started tethering with errors and to check the log, which then says that the log doesn't exist and it can't open it. Same error with opengarden tethering.

my epic 4G has a wifi tether app ( the yallow one ) anyway when i use it to connect my Google Nexus 7" tablet before i update to 4.1.1 it works but after i updated to the latest jelly bean my nexus wont even find the signal anymore,
BTW i tried SVTP WiFi Hotspot and USB Tether - Lite it works but is it safe or does the carrier detect that , thanks
I am on Verizon, and I had a lot of issues when I first moved to jb on 4.1. Originally I used wireless tether app, as I used it on every other version I had. It would not work. I even tried using barnacle from the party site, and same thing.
I finally switched to 4.1.1, and just used the built in tether, and it has been working fine for about 3 weeks now. I never got a message about being to call tech support, but then again this is Verizon and I am not sure who your provider is.
It might be like someone said above about them knowing you are using it, and you need to call to set it up. If that is the case, that sucks.

Yup seems like jb broke the app, I can tether with the native app but on Sprint that knocks you off wimax and only leaves you with 3g. I can confirm its a jb thing because its working fine on my wife's evo that is still on 2.3 also worked fine on ICS. Like others it seems to start up fine but my tabblet won't pick it up.
something clever goes here...
After alot of hit and misses I finally got internet access using pdanet, foxfi, and enabling bluetooth network access. It's not the best but it was wiresless and free.

If you have a look around the web there are several sites, including these formums, with a suggestion - use the 'default ip tables' setting in the app.
That worked for me with Nexus S running AOKP Jelly Beam Build 1.
I am interested if anyone can help me though - despite doing the above, TOR only seems to work on WIFI, but not on 3g. Has anyone else experienced this?
I have the same problem with my GSM Galaxy Nexus (Maguro) that ORBOT the TOR Client for Android does not work with the latest builds of Cyanogenmod 10 and AOKP! When starting ORBOT it comes the error message that the transparent proxy could not be startet. Someone has solutions or Tips?
Thanks a lot!
Greetings
Today i tried the latest version of ORBOT
Orbot v11 RC1
Orbot-release-0.2.4.3-alpha-1.0.11-RC1.apk
on --> dev.guardianproject.info
and now everything is working fine

how to troubleshoot this?
Is it possible to use wifi tether and 4G at the same time?
It seems like everytime I turn on my wifi tether, the phone downgrades to 3G?
I'm just using the stock wifi tether feature on AOKP Build 4.
The only wifi tether I have gotten to work properly on all roms is wireless tether for root users (its the yellow one) free on marketplace.
If it is still not working, change your profile in wifi tether app to galaxy nexus.

Google it, you'll find a link to be able to download it and sideload. Sprint blocks free tether apps on the market. You may also be able to get it from PC playstore and then to your phone, but finding it on Google and then sideloading is much simpler

Hi again, sorry I totally derped it up on the name of the app. The one you found is by same developer but not the same app...I dunno haha. Either way, here is the link to the app I was originally talking about.

What about USB tethering?
It appears that the instant you select a tether option 4g disconnects. This solution works for wifi (as i am submitting this post using it now), but using any of the AOSP ROMs appears to have the 4g tethering drop off issue.
Ultimately if I can't find something I'll just give in and spend the $$ on a usb wifi adapter.
Yesterday i recieved the notification that 4.1.2 was ready for install on my stock yakju galaxy nexus. After the install i noticed i could no longer tether (that same day i had tethered my xoom over wifi pre update). Today i tried to tether with wifi, usb, and bluetooth and not one of them will work. I've reset the computers/tablets, i've reset the phone, and i'm 100% stock with no root.
Has anyone else experienced a similar issue? my googling has turned up with nil.
I'm debating doing a factory reset, but would prefer not to if anyone has some suggestions i can try. Does anyone have a suggestion?

i'm curious, what frequencies does your provider use? mine is 850/1900 HSPA. i think. My theory is that it's only broken for some frequencies, which could be valueable debug info for the google people
My carrier uses 850/1900 3G bands. My issue is my tablet sees the connection and connects but the wifi icon never goes blue so it never gets internet.

while wifi tethering is not working on jb, you can use the native tether which is either bluetooth or usb. delete all of the tether apps you've installed and wipe Dalvik cache.
