If I want to test out a ROM, can I make a nandroid of my current setup, flash a new ROM, then restore my nandroid, and never shed a tear?
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda app-developers app
That depends on if your using a safe ICS kernel and whether or not your going GB to ICS or vice versa. As long as you use agat ICS kernel you should be safe.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda app-developers app
I am currently using an sfhub rooted ICS with agats kernel. I am wanting to try out mijjah's jelly bean build.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda app-developers app
Yes you can do that with Agat's kernel. I have been doing it frequently since yesterday. Back and forth dozens of times or more.

Thanks for helping me clear that up! Can't wait to see what this ROM has in store!

I'm on FH13 rooted and wondering if clockwork recovery in rom manager app is safe from emmc... it seems like everyone is posting that clockwork has to be put on differently than just installing the app and using that recovery. Am I missing something? Or is it safe?
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda app-developers app
Dont use rom manager recovery.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda app-developers app
So does that mean it is not safe? Or you don't like it?
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda app-developers app
Rom manager and this phone equals nasty things.

OK. Yeah I thought that it had, but just wondering if anything had been updated. Agat still the way to go?

Agat, Kuban kernel, etc.
My suggestion, until you research the others more (not being hateful) is to use el26 cwm recovery. There's a quick boot el26 but I don't have the link handy at the moment.
Please don't use Rom manager. I'm afraid if you do, we'll see a post about your shiny new paper weight.

Make a backup first. Always make a backup.
Ya I made a complete backup of my original rom even with bloat I find that sometimes original roms are the most stable

JB builds do not play nice with ICS modems. You need to flash a JB modem to resolve.
And for other folks, let's try not hitting noobs too hard on the head, okay?
That's one of the reasons this community has been liked as much as it is.

If you're asking if there is a zip that will deodex your current setup the answer is no.
If you would like to flash a full ROM that has already been deodexed, the link has been posted above.
There are quite a few great deodexed GB27 ROMs available in the Epic 4G Touch Android Development forum. I can't suggest any because I will not play favoritism toward any developer or their project. You need to decide for yourself what you want to run.
