T999 Stock Apps - Galaxy S III Themes and Apps (US Carriers)

So I accidentally removed the Accuweather Widget(s) using the Ashaman thingy. Does anyone have the stock apps (preferably CWM flashable) available? I would go to Odin but, I'll wait on that since I see people losing their IMEI/data. I don't really wanna flash a ROM just yet since that flash counter scares me just in case I break the phone or something. Thanks men and or women.

Flashing a rom won't up the count and if you use mobile Odin it doesn't effect the count either or just download a stock rooted ROM and using astro file install the missing apks. Stick to the stock rooted base and you won't mess your phone up if you start playing with aosp based ROMs that's where you have the chance of messing things up. I never flash anything unless I read through at 15 to 20 pages of a thread to see how the ROM is taking to the phone.

It doesn't affect the counter? If not then what does? Sorry if that's a dumb question.
EDIT: Sorry, I skipped the GS2/NOTE. But do the principle from the post linked below apply with the GS3 then? If so, then this is a whole new ball game.

[Q] need some help..

I feel helpless now, sorry ahead of time if someone instantly redirects me to a section of the website. I've been searching forums for almost 5 hours now and have gotten nowhere. I sent my phone in to get the brick fixed and had him root it at the same time... I'm running 2.3.4 kernel version 2.6.35.7 gb.eh17? So i'm assuming this is a stock rom? I have no cwm for my phone, i haven't been able to flash it or install it whatsoever, I get failed signature everytime. Now I understand that 2e as opposed to 3e (which I have) allows unsigned files to be installed, but I haven't been able to find a way to revert back to that.. There's kernels that I can download that come with cwm but those have root files in them too.. will this mess anything up? could I flash a kernel to my phone with the root files and in turn have cwm working? how do I know what kernels will work for my phone and firmware version specifically? I just want to do cool things to my phone now! I'm feeling i've wasted money to have it rooted since I can't do a damn thing with it right now.. SORRY for the long post, it's been 5 hours of running in circles and i'm quite frustrated. Any help at all is very much appreciated!!!
Lots of questions. First of all you can't flash anything in stock recovery not put out by Sprint or Samsung. Next you will need to use Odin to install CWM since no one click version works with GB. EH17 is a leaked ROM not official. Official version of GB is EI22. You can Odin in an EC05 ROM prerooted and then flash a EI22 prerooted ROM then if you want to change the modem flash the EC05toEI22 modem file. Here are some threads to help you:
Odin and how to use it:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1052813
EC05plus ROM:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1061912&highlight=ec05plus
Modems:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1123103
This method you will lose all data so make sure your contacts are on Google and not the phone. Or export your contacts to the sd card.
thanks!! the links are broken but I believe I know where to go with this now, all I have to do is install a new rom/cwm via odin? which will just replace my stock "rom" I guess. I've been scared to even think about that considering that's how I bricked it the first time. Thanks for your time!
Which links are broken? If you are able to get into download mode it is never bricked.

ROM Request

I've flashed many great Roms since release date and the general norm of devs is to debloat their Rom and claim slim. I think this is great but for me and few friends we just want a Rom not stripped, we want one which has all the Samsung apps etc...
I know I can always flash them separately but for some reason its not the same. I. E. Kies syncs my contacts with FB and I get to see friends status update when they call. But when n kies is not included or I flash after rom, the status update is a bunch of html code.
Haxsync is ok, but definitely not as good as kies.
Any way to get a rom loaded and another slimed down... I can always un install apps Im not interested in...
why dont you go to the dev section for the epic 4g touch and download a tar what ever version you want and flash in Odin and youll have your Factory rom

That or flash one of the stock rooted deodexed/odexed ROMs. Sounds like that is essentially what your after.

No, he wants a custom rom, tweaked and improved, with the apps included. Not the stock experience with those apps included.
Two very different intents.
Example:
Calkulins 2 v1.5 is not the same as FD26 Stock and SfHub's FD26 Tarball. Customization is key.
To the op, you can open any zip prior to flashing with something like 7zip, and insert those apps to /system/apps along with their attached providers, and accomplish what you want. You might have some trial and error attempts, figuring out which apps aid the ones that you want.
Making your own personal build isn't that hard to do. Download the stock rooted base you want. Unzip. Remove the apps you don't want. Add a kernel that has init.d support. Make a init.d folder in system/etc and add the scripts you want. Zip up the Meta, system and zimage and flash away. I do it for myself all the time. Its nice to have a build to fall back on when you need something fully functional and stable in between flashing ICS ROMs and such.

[Q] Stressed out with so much info :P Trying to root SIII

I'm sure this has been brought up before but with 20 something internet tabs and countless youtube videos I definitely get the jist of what needs to be done in order to root the phone as I've done it a few years ago with another phone. The problem i'm having is I think I'm making this more complicated than it is. First off, I cannot find a NON rooted stock Bell rom for galaxy S III SGH-I747M all I can find are rooted ones. I'm trying to root my phone yes but what if I wanna revert back to stock with no root? I haven't found one yet. Secondly all the different roms I been finding are 555mb to 725mb in size, I just want to root my phone I don't recall half gig sized files just to do that. So then I downloaded a stock rom apperantly named stock root66_tar it's 1.5 GB!! it doesn't have anything else with it. I feel like an idiot because there's so many files and OTA and LH1 and stock rom, kernel, ect I know they all mean something I guess I'm just overwhealmed with so much info, I just want to root my Galaxy S III SGH-I747M from Bell and then if and when I choose I want to be able to unroot it and have a copy of a stock untouched unrooted rom, and then I still don't know if I need to have a stock rom to unroot.
I'm currently on this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1739426
seems straight forward as I just want a stock rom with root access no fancy CWM or rom flashing and I'm downloading the Bell rom which it says its stock just root injected...im guessing that means it's rooted but again if I need warranty repairs or need kies to update my phone when jelly bean comes out I will need to unroot the phone so kies recognizes my phone and allows me to update to 4.1 hope someone can send me in the right direction from the thread im in and can let me know about unrooting and wether or not if a rooted phone can be recognized by kies to update to jelly bean next month when it comes out as I dont wanna be stuck not able to update all because I rooted my phone and don't know how to fully reverse the process. Thank you
1st download odin from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1165122&d=1340993443
2nd download this http://www.blownco.com/smartguy/CWM-Recovery-LTE-SGS3-v5.tar.tar
3rd download this http://www.blownco.com/smartguy/Superuser-3.1.3-arm-signed.zip
ok so the 1st download is odin what you need to do is open that and put the 2nd download (which is clockwordmod recovery) into the pda part of odin and hit start...when its done phone will reboot. after phone is reboot you need to put the 3rd download onto your sdcard and then reboot back into recovery and flash that zip and that will put superuser on your phone which will give you root.

Thanks for the info I'm just about to read it now. seems so far from what else I been researching about that thread I linked is that a stock rom that is root injected not trippin the timer thingy means I can just unroot it by simply doing a factory reset unless I read that wrong. Since im just going for root on a stock rom with no recovery as im told I dont need it if I don't plan on flashin different roms, but I see you mention downloading it so I take it I should ? even though I don't plan on flashing other roms? I just downloaded your 3 files you linked and it was interesting that it was all about 7MB where as the other thread the file was over 600 MB lol and both are to root as well.
Yea its just good to have just incase you do decide to flash a custom rom like the team insomnia roms but there is no need to worry about flash counter since there ia an app to reset it for you

ah I see now I have another dumb question before I go to bed, what is the difference between rooting my phone using the files you supplied which is like 1 mb for the super user which gives root access as you say and flashing it using the stock rom that's 600 MB with root injection?
what are the differences between them both? would seem impractical to download a 600mb file if a 1mb file does the same thing unless I'm blind and too tired as Ive been up over 30 hours. Thanks for the replies and I will be back tomorrow to check on this thread for any additional info anyone writes.
Well the way i suggest just leaves you with the stock eom you are currently using and the whole process will prob be completed by the time you download half of the stock rooted rom......both ways work but the way i mention is just the one i use
Sent from my SGH-I747 using xda premium
If you already have a "recovery" image installed, then you don't need to worry about rooting the phone. Just flash a root injected ROM as you mentioned.
But if you don't already have a recovery image (like TWRP or Clockwork Mod) then it's easier/quicker to flash a recovery if your phone is already rooted.
Thanks for the replies, I will experiment with both methods but before I hit the button once and for all I will try to find out in the meantime what I need to unroot it with a stock rom which I did download but it says root injected which I'm guessing is just that it's a rooted stock rom so then technically it's not stock if it's root injected? and I'm trying to figure out if I do a factory reset from the root injected rom if it brings it back like it was from the factory.
PS: after more reading I found out you need a non root injected stock rom to go back to 100% factory, for the life of me I cannot find a stock rom that is NON root injected for when I want to unroot and flash back to factory for Bell Galaxy S III SGH-I747M.

[Q] updating to UAMDL with root

I'm rooted with a custom recovery running M919UVUAMDB. Is there an easy way for me to update to M919UVUAMDL. When I tried the ota it said my phone has been modified and wouldn't proceed. I've been reading about people having issues rooting their phone after the they updated, so I'm thinking it may not be worth it to update at this time. I'm hoping I can just flash somthing to bring my phone up to date without the root blocking that was implemented in UAMDL. I have been having some issues and hope the update would resolve them. Can someone steer me in the right direction please? Thanks

As do I. I'm thinking it'll be a flash via Kies, then re-flash TWRP, install the custom kernel and re-root.

I thought some of the stock rooted firmwares were zipped and could be flashed via recovery.... (why I didn't think of doing this on the old GS4 I have no idea, prolly because I wanted to keep my recovery stock -shrug-)
Either way wouldn't you need to get Triangle Away?

...in other words, isn't it possible to find a custom firmware that you can flash through recovery? (or since this is Samsung land, is this all through Odin? I remember on my Evo 3D I could find new custom firmwares in zip files and flash from recovery.)
and Triangle Away resets some kind of counter specific to some Samsung phones relating to custom firmwares.

he said he's already rooted and already has a custom recovery... so basically he needs to find a rom that is stock MDL but rooted(there are 2 in the and development forum) and flash it. that's it. I'm not sure why they wanted to update through Odin it kinda makes no sense.. cos they it'd be stock uprooted and then they'd have to root it again. AFAIK triangle away it's only used to reset the counter on the bootloader to see that you haven't installed any custom recoveries which you would only need if you were to send the phone back to tmo to have it exchanged. Otherwise you don't really need Odin unless you **** up a flash and then need to bring it back to stock fw and then root it again and do the whole process basically ODIN brings your phone back from a soft brick.

Has nothing to do with lazy. I ended up upgrading via Kies, flashing the custom kernel and then rooting.

Okay to upgrade from 4.1.2?

New to this phone and I am running 4.1.2 there is a system update a 4.3 that's already downloaded and ready to install but I wanted to make sure the update didn't install any new locks on my phone before I accept. I plan on rooting soon.
Thanks
Rich
U get knox but there are ways to still root with knox so go ahead update
High Definition Note II
Uuum hold on. If you plan to root your phone there is no point in allowing the OTA which does install KNOX. Root now and save that extra trouble.

If the poster wants to install 4.3, then accept the update, root, then flash your 4.3 rom.. This way you won't have all those reboot, lock up issues, that people keep on having.. Plus most devs do not have knox filex in their roms.. And you won't have to flash the wifi fix..
I Would Accept It.

Thank you! You're the first to shed some light on this for me. To get back to stock using the toolkit, would I need to first flash stock recovery, then Stock Firmware, then bone stock MC2? Afterwards boot in, accept the update, then re-root using the toolkit.

I'm wondering the same thing. But if we root then accept the OTA won't that enable the knox counter? So that if we now, "flash away".... won't every flash be counted?
Shouldn't we root, then install the custom roms without the knox? Or do the custom roms also include the knox counter tripping mechanism?
I would like to know how this works also.
Thanks.
I just recently came from 4.1.2 rooted running a deoxided stock rom. I didn't do the OTA update to 4.3. I used the TeamRejects Deoxidexed rooted deknoxed stock rom, the updated MK4 modem, and the WiFi fix. It took about 15-20 minutes to get everything done. I needed to download Odin too for WiFi fix. I didn't run the WiFi fix till I knew there was an issue.
Not much of complaint, but I wish there was a kernel like Perseus for TouchWix based roms. The only one I found was Devil Kernel, but for whatever reason, wasn't stable with TeamReject's ROM. I didn't really care for his custom Kernel ajdustment manager and STweaks didn't work with it at all. Ideally, I prefer a stock rooted deknoxed deoxidized bare bones rom (just phone, contacts, google play) so I have a working phone and can access Google Play so I can install the apps I prefer. The closest I found was Classic Rom but it freezes on initial rom load; Plus, I'm not a fan of the colors and the few things he choose to include.

Sorry for not getting back sooner. I have been busy with work, and family things.Use billards return to full stock with counter reset. It installs everything including recovery, boot loader, firemware etc... Then set up your phone, when prompt accept the ota update.. Once done retoot, and flash what ever 4.3 rom you want.. The knox counter will still be there, but if you need a trip back to Sprint, go back to Full MC2 stock, knox counter will no longer be there.. Most 4.3 room do not include the Knox files so no worries there.

Sounds like it. The odd part, I have been able to flash Reject's stock deoxidezed deknoxed rom with no problem. I tried to flash Classic 3, but it froze on Classic's initial loading page (the one after the Samsung boot loader). I had issues another rom, but turned out it was for the international model; I wasn't paying attention where I was in the forums.
If you do what I did, you'll need to flash modem update using Odin on the PC. So, you may need to download Odin.

Depending on what you like to do, you may find 4.3 MK4 more limiting, espcially on the TouchWiz side. AOSP probably more mod friendly at this point. From what I've been able to find, there is only one custom kernal for 4.3 TouchWiz which is Devil's Kernal. It's solid, but my phone was unstable. Not sure if the phone since I may have taken out something it used when I was trying to debloat the phone. Didn't care for his Kernel Tweak manager. Neither the stock or devil's kernal supports Stweaks. Neither I could figure out how to change the boat loading animation.
I have nothing against AOSP projects. I like them. But as far as I know, none support the Spen, which I like to use with web browsers. Don't use the Samnsung Spen apps. Just wasn't that impressed with them, but I see how they can be useful. Although, SketchPro is really nice with it. I just find TouchWiz is more than sufficient for my needs and stock isn't as quirky.
