Hi there,
earlier today I got a strange download which started by itself named
tg_endeavoru-ota-eng.adrian001.zip
size is 140MB and it comes apparently from this website:
http://android.eqmx.net/endeavoru/
Of course, I did not install it as the whole lot feels dodgy...
Anyone else got it? Can someone shed some light into it?
Thanxs
Do you have full stock system?

Ota means "over the air".
Manufacturers use it to provide updates to your phone without you needing to connect your phone to a computer and run an update file on your Computer to update your phone's firmware.
That file looks like it is an update. Can someone with more android knowledge confirm this?
You should try moving this to the HTC One X Q&A section of the forums.
Thanks for your reply,
I am on InsertCoin 7.3.0 and O2 Germany network, so I thought one shouldn't get OTAs, right?
And I never received an OTA, and this one just downloaded itself.

Sorry if I posted this in the wrong forum.
And if so, how can it get moved?
As I understand it: some of the custom ROMs still can download OTA updates.
How ever, by installing it, your phone may revert back to an unrooted/stock state.

It's a build from tgascoine's Jelly Bean source, as linked to in this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=28752923&postcount=181 (from this thread).
You've probably accidentally hit the URL while scrolling through the thread and it's started downloading; there's no physical way for this to have made its way to your device without you initiating a download. Nothing to worry about, but it's definitely not an OTA update for the ROM you're using, so if you're not intending to try out an experimental 4.1.1 AOSP build you can just delete it.
Do a nandroid backup install and see?

UPDATE: It looks like currently only Nexus One owners are seeing the option to update to this latest version.

I remember being able to install the 10.1 update when I had the DeFroSt Rom on my phone that made it report as a N1. And I could get that update. Can't remember the DeFroSt Rom version tho

can anyone advise what files we need to remove on roms that have the beta version baked in? new market version won't install on my rooted Desire...
Usually called "install_flash_player.apk" in /system/app by most ROM developers. Guess look for something with the name of "flash". Then in /system/lib there is also a libflashplayer.so. You should also delete that.
Remember both can only be removed in recovery since they are in /system.
Why someone can see the update and someone can't?

Sense ROMs can't see the update (unless they're already on the final version). Anyone know the full build number?

the full build number should be 10.1.92.8
Is there a way to update this? As far as I know this should be also a security update.
I'm on 10.1.7x.x so obviously in need of said update - hopefully it'll kick in at some point!
Yeah, got it today, running defrost in Sweden, no longer beta version.
There are apk's of the final version of flash floating around on the internet, I picked up a copy from /r/Android section of Reddit. It's working fine for me. Can't give url atm, sry.

Yeah, I second that. I just installed the .Apk which I found from a link in a forum. there's no need to uninstall the beta which is bundled with the 2.2 update. The final version just installs over the top as an upgrade. it also gives you the option to remove the update if required by using the "applications" menu in "settings".
Haven't noticed any differences yet though.

Thanks for the link, installed fine on my Desire. Has anyone noticed any differences in performance since updating?

I suppose this gets installed in RAM alongside with the beta version found in Android 2.2 Froyo?
Can it be installed so it replaces the existing beta version, avoiding to double the space required?
Maybe a package that can be installed with ClockWorkMod recovery?
Thanks for the link. But flash occupies 12.5mb on my desire!! Thats insane! As it is there is so little space to install apps, and with this, it becomes even worse.
when installing, it actually offers upgrade, so I presume it doesn't install twice

ram is random access memory and has nothing to do with storage, this will install in data/app, if you have one already on your fone just use adb to remove installflashplayer.apk from /system/app/
so with froyo, we have Flash and Flash lite ? Any way to remove the lite thing ?

Potentially! Are they comparing them to the leaked 4.0.4 radios? Doubtful since they upgraded and were presumably on 4.0.2 lol.
Either way, someone needs to find the images and make a flashable zip. I need something to do at work, nah mean?
So if I am running Liquid (4.04) will all I have to do is flash the new radios once they are available?
Sorry for the noob question. Just got my nexus last week and new to the flashing scene.

Yes. Radios are compatible with pretty much anything. They are separate from the rom, and do not even "stick" with a nandroid.
OK I'm running the leaked 4.0.4... I'll have to revert to 4.0.2 yo receive this correct? And I installed Franco's kernel last night. Anywhere I can pick up stock kernel?

Started getting OTA notifications this morning. Rebooted into recovery and the notifications went away. Still on LG8. Am I missing anything substantial on LI3? Should I just wait for the official JB update? Thanks in advance.
Official JB release has yet to be officially announced with a date. So, I suggest you go ahead and update. At least you'll stop getting the notifications if you do.

Thanks for the reply, Naddict. Couple of questions:
-In order to update to LI3, is it as simple as going through the "System Update" utility in the settings?
-Is it safe to assume that once I update to LI3, I'll lose root?
-If so, how do I go about gaining root again? (It's been a while since I first rooted, so I'm unsure of the methods.)

Your thread is relevant to my question, so I'm hoping someone can help me, as well.
I'm new to android, and I've found that every time there is an OTA update, I cannot find ANY information on it. I received a notification to update today, as well, yet it doesn't tell me what changes will be made or what is being updated. Is this normal for android? I'm not exactly sure where to look for this information, since hitting "more info" tells me nothing.
Not trying to invade on your post, but I'm thinking you might know the answer to this.
Thanks!

Hi Naddict. Thanks for humoring my "Hi. I'm super new and have stupid questions" status.
My "internet machine" (awesome) must be limited to banning all updated information. On the sprint blog for S3 updates the latest one is from 9/19 and I don't see any relevant information regarding an update from today. That's where my confusion lies.
My main issue is that I don't even know what to search for, as I don't receive any information regarding the update number/title/etc.
A popup just asking me to install a "system update" doesn't really do much for me. I'll keep looking. :good:
Take care,
Mike

Hello everyone, sorry if this has been ask before, but i really need help..i see that the update 4.2.2 has come out recently but as far as i know only in europe..so my question is, does anyone know if the update will come out soon on any part of america? Im from Venezuela and i have my HOX from movistar, and the update obviously doesn't show, not yet at least..and honestly, i dont think that update will come any time soon or ever..so i decided to update my phone like a custom rom..but the problem is that i dont know what is that CID that everyone's talking about and dont know how to know mine..if anyone can help me in any way..the only thing that i can say about my phone right know is, that the bootloader its still lock, i have no root, and offcourse no custom recovery..so, i have an stock phone, and i really want to update my phone! ..i prefer an OTA update than to flash it from recovery, but i will try everything
PS: the english, you know sorry!

Firstly you need to find out if or not your device is AT&T. If so, then unlucky, because the update (as of yet) is only out for the international Tegra 3 version.
Your CID can be found by downloading a free app from the play store. Just search 'CID checker', but at the minute they are pretty much useless to pre determine any updates.
If your device is an international version, either wait with everyone else or manually flash the odexed stock 4.2.2 version onto your phone (this only works for Tegra 3).

CID (Carrier ID) is something like product code for a certain region.
To know your CID you can try this: CID Getter
Take a look here: [Guide] -The Ultimate Stock to Custom ROM Awesomeness thread - Noob friendly
This thread will help you in understanding ROM flashing methods.
Make sure that your phone is EndeavorU not Evita
Thank you! The app says my CID is BSTAR301, do i ever get the ota update? Or the only way is to flash an stock rom?
And the other thing says if only for ICS, and i have JB, but no 4.2.2 obviously.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
No my HOX is no AT&T, and i dont thing my carrier (movistar) bought the phone from AT&T..it has to be the international versión because is a Tegra 3 ..the only thing i dont want from flashing a stock rom its Bécquer i dont want to lose my phone configurations and start all over again
Thats what i love from ota updates, you update your phone but dont lose everything and your phone stay the same but with the upgrades

BE ADVISED: More than likely if you are rooted and you go back to stock and flash this ROM, you will NOT be able to root right away, and Free Gee probably will not work, so if this is important to you. Do NOT flash this ROM OTA. wait till the dev's come up with a rooted version.
