When ROMs add Flash (there is one already) I had been able to watch through the browser with Flash.
Manually install flash from the APK (search for it on xda. Found tons of links for it).
Install Dolphin Browser HD/your choice of browsers that support flash.
For dolphin change it to Desktop instead of Android device and it will let you watch amazon videos. I tested this with my Amazon Prime on-demand free streaming and worked well.

That worked for me too. I even got full screen video by tapping the "pop out" button. Then Dolphin pushed out an update and now I can't watch Flash anymore.

Has anyone experimented with using Amazon Instant Video (from the Kindle Fire) to get Prime videos, etc working? I did give it a run. It looks like you need to have Flash installed, and use OTA rootkeeper to temporarily hide root while you use the Instant Video app. I was having problems logging in, plus when I tried to load a video, it would just black screen, then FC.
I've watched Prime movies on my E4GT using Dolphin HD browser (use desktop mode) in the past and it worked with out hiding root. Although I'm told some need to hide it.

Hmm yes you're right, I've done similar with the ICS browser +, and that worked also. It's useful if you know what you want to watch, but it's not easy to navigate. I think a native app would be pretty awesome. I've looked in forums for other devices, but haven't found anyone trying to do this on other devices.
Looks like Amazon wasn't supporting Android smartphones. I'm not sure if it's changed. I saw a youtube video on how to make it work but it seems to no longer be effective.
Is anyone able to watch Amazon streaming videos with a standard unrooted etc android device?
I think you can watch them in any browser that supports flash. I believe the stock browser and Dolphin work.
I downloaded Dolphin but it won't run Amazon streaming video. It results in an error code.

I don't think Dolphin supports flash anymore. You can install Boat browser for flash content. You need to install flash separately, and enable it in Boat browser settings. Then you can watch Amazon videos through Boat browser.

Thanks, I downloaded Boat but still no go. Looks like there's no flash support beyond android 4.0.x.

Google Play won't download the flash player for current Android devices. Looks like there's other ways to download flash...
http://www.ghacks.net/2013/07/29/how-to-install-and-use-flash-player-on-your-android-device/
Yes, you have to install it separately and not from Google Play. Search xda, I'm sure you will find a link to the file. It works on Android 4.3, I tried streaming with my N7 and can confirm. Don't worry about the threads saying it won't work, that was an old issue of Amazon doing something to exclude android devices, they no longer do that.
Don't forget to enable flash in boat browser once you install it. It is not enabled by default!

Hello,
is there a better YouTube App as the "****ty" Amazon YouTube App? Without root I can't use the google youtube app and XMBC is not a good solution - only if i know what i want to play...
Thank you
It is possible to the normal android youtube apk.:good:
I installed these 4 apk´s onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=73036323A69E3CF1!1484&authkey=!AIVXLFXAOWDeM0Q&ithint=folder%2c.apk
After that I installed the newest playstore and google play services.
Than you have to install the newest youtube apk and sign in with your google account.:good:
Google music works, too
^^^WITHOUT ROOT!
There is a YouTube HD MOD that works perfectly fine if you have keyboard and mouse access.
No rooting needed and you only have to Google search "YouTube HD MOD" to find it.
It was the first thing I tried when root was not even available.
It is hard to read where the file is with the new design changes of XDA,but it is under downloads in colorful links.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1529715
Edit:Stupid Opera Browser does not include the http part and thus kills the linking function.

Hi - thank you! I don't know that Mod. I will try it - but first I've to order a Keyboard with Touchpad ... Maybe it would be great, because I can use Firefox for surfing too ...
Thank you!
The worst problem is that the fire TV's search screen appears frequently when using a browser, and you may not be able to stop it without root.
Opera is good despite that annoyance I show and the large cache filing, but FireFox is a hassle without root unless you can find a way to set a different IME as default to prevent the onscreen Fire search from coming up.
Would settings.apk work without root well enough to change defaulted IME to Null Keyboard?
I would assume you can install it like any app when sideloaded.

I've installed the YouTube Mod and I also have the Logitech K400 ... It works - but I can't login - is there a solution for that? I have many Abos ... And every time I go to an input field the FireTV Keyboard opens - i want to use my K400 ...
Yesterday I found the original YouTube TV App in the Amazon App Store on FireTV and it works perfect. Pairing and Login works also... Great!

thats not the google one, its just a amazon clone.
Hi,
I mean that one: http://www.amazon.de/youtube-com-Yo...e=UTF8&qid=1414321064&sr=1-1&keywords=youtube
And it seems to be from youtube.com ? Or is it a clone? But if it's a clone, it's a real good one!
Does anyone have the official YouTube application for the Fire TV for me to side load? Thanks!!
YouTube for Fire TV
I have found that the YouTube app for Google TV works great on the Fire TV!
You just have to have Play Services installed so that you can log in (no root required). Of course, it will not show up on your list of apps so you will need another method to open it. I use the Folder Organizer app for Fire TV - ugly as sin, but effective!
new Youtube on Kodi (14.0,14.1) is actually awesome it has sweet UI looks much better then on XBMC (13++).
Other suggestion maybe Youtube for Google TV.
Using Chrome, if I a on a forum and someone has posted a message with a YouTube video I get a gray box that says plugIn is not supported.
If I go to the same post using Chrome on my Moto X the video starts playing as it should.
Any idea why and how I can fix if possible? Moto X is on 5.0 and Tab Pro is on 4.4.2.
Thanks
I think you have to install Flash manually: https://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/installing-flash-player-android-devices.html
Why it works on your Moto X, I don't know. Adobe stopped supporting Flash on Android some time ago; and it likewise has not typically been included as a pre-installed plugin for sometime (or even available on the Play Store).

Still doesn't work, I remember trying this a while ago with no luck. Installed the latest version of flash player from Adobe site for 4.0 but video still doesn't play in chrome.
I've had better luck with flash on Dolphin browser. Google adobe flash for 4.4. There are plenty of downloads out there. I have not had success with the versions from the Adobe site (be sure to uninstall the one you downloaded from there) . Go into settings in dolphin browser and make sure the flash setting is Always On.

Like I said, I don't know if Chrome even support Flash anymore. As the above suggests, Dolphin browser does, and I believe Firefox as well.

Thanks, I remember having to setup Dolphin browser to watch amazon videos on my old tablet.
I just wish Chrome on my Tab Pro worked like Chrome on my Moto X, which does show the videos in the browser. So strange that it works on one but not the other.

When I go to the link on my tablet it says html5 will be used but if I go to site on my phone it says default player will be used.
Any idea how to change that setting on my tablet? Looking through chrome and YouTube app settings and I don't see anything.
Thanks!
Confirmed working on Shield TV 2.1 upgrade. Here is how to get the browser...
Edit: Mistake in thread title, you need the Kitkat Modded Flash Player plugin apk as well, sorry.
1. Copy the comname from playstore, which is... mobi.mgeek.TunnyBrowser
2. Go to Wandoujia (other places get apk files with parsing errrors) and search for any app and visit its page.
3. Replace that app's comname with the name in step 1 and visit the page.
4. Click or right click and "save as" on the apk word under the QR code,or if on a browser on Android, long press the word and save/download to get the apk file.
5. On your Shield TV,enable installing apps from unknown sources if not done already.
6. Transfer the file to your shield with any USB storage or Micro SD and install the apk from within ES File Explorer via longpress and hitting install.
7.Install it as you would any other directly sideloaded app when the prompt appears.
Notes: If you try to use the apk downloaders or a few other sites, the resulting apk will have a parsing error,Wandoujia is the one site where that does not occur with the apk.
If you have Opera browser sideloaded to Shield TV,it will be very easy to use for directly getting the apk from Wandoujia using the long press on the apk word under the QR code,as it has a far superior downloads engine where you can choose the name and location for the file being downloaded, just like a computer lets you do!
And don't worry, the installed app will not be in chinese for those of you with English and other languages.
First, the instructions... Go into the browser's settings and simply enable the "flash mode" feature and it works PERFECTLY.
If you download swf files, you can play them locally on Dolphin Browser using ES File Explorer and long pressing the swf file then "open as" other and selecting Dolphin Browser to play it.
Also,a Logitech K400r keyboard works flawlessly on Shield TV.
Enjoy!

It fixes Dolphin Jetpack rendering glitches for me and also improves flash player performance along with fixing parts of it.

A few details.
It only works when Jetpack is enabled, and also, the flash game mode fixes interactions with dragging stuff and fixes the doubled clicks bug,but it appears to be causing visual glitches on the browser itself.
I think Dolphin Browser needs a special optimized version for Shield TV.
It works but it's far from perfect, tried watching some video and crunchyroll and it was pretty bad, screen no video and almost impossible to navigate.
Yeah,I noticed some touch point issues when in a different zoom size, clicking on a link doesn't work right in other zoom sizes because it thinks I am clicking at a different spot than I am actually clicking at.
Jetpack is the problem,it is really buggy unfortunately.
If only flash could work without Jetpack enabled and on all other capable browsers like FireFox,lousy changes from Kitkat and Lollipop.
Flashplayer on android
Have you tried puffin browser from the playstore for flash support?
That one has crappy frame drops and I feel a bit skeptic about using it from the cloud based flash service.
Besides, the controls on a keyboard like K400r are idiotically broken in Puffin if you have tried playing Happy Wheels.
try opera for tablets, make sure user agent is set to desktop
didn't work for me I don''t know why ??
Updated with a link to a fixed build on apk20 installing successfully!
Enjoy!
Dolphin Video works great for playing swf files offline without tricks unlike their browser!
Besides needing a keyboard/mouse,the only issue I see is only that the UI favors Portrait mode annoyingly (mouse glitches around, but still usable and videos go to landscape),but using a forced screen orientation app can alleviate that annoyance, apart from bad thumbnail sizes of online videos.
At least it doesn't need a special copy from a certain site, simply using one of those apk downloaders is all you need to do.
All I did was type in "Dolphin Video" in one's search box and got it that way.
One thing to note,apk-dl is broken and endlessly redirects to itself instead of actually downloading it,so a place like apkpure is great for getting it easily.
