Which app gives me best sound quality? I WOULD like it to be free but I also dont mind paying if it will blow me away.
I've tried a lot of different players but so far I am not convinced on any of them.
I have paid for both MixZing and poweramp and to be honest i now prefer the new stock music app. It's the UI more than anything I suppose. I haven't really noticed a difference in how the music sounds as far as the player is concerned, but once i splurrged on a good set of ear phones I did.

I've used several, from Winamp to Poweramp, but I prefer the stock Google Music app. CM's Apollo is nice also imo.
Stock Jelly Bean music play or PowerAmp (Full ver is 5 bucks I believe)
I recommend PowerAmp if you wanna have best EQ you could ever find in any music player
If you just want nice UI and overall just good music player, stock is prob the best choice. It also has a basic EQ which you can customize a little.
I like PowerAmp purely for the better gapless playback support.
Second long gaps between songs on the stock player drove me insane.
Also, no software player will magically increase the sound quality of your music.
PowerAmp all the way. Been using it for a while.

That's the only thing I hate about the stock player.
No gapless ruins the listening experience on some albums.

I'm torn at the moment. At first I really liked Poweramp, mostly because the ability the boost the preamp helped with the low volume problems I was having when listening to it in my car. However, after purchasing Volume+ I found that I no longer need that boost.
Zimly by far has my favorite UI, but I've been getting a lot of crashes on it. I'm also considering bTunes, as the part I miss the most about my iPhone is the media player. I'd be curious to hear if anyone considers that a favorite
I also love Poweramp really much.
Bought it.
It plays my music collection at home, has a great equalizer, and now even supports Beats audio - whaddya want more?
Lol, it supports now beats?!?!?! I used to have it, but then I removed just because of the beats. Stock is good, though.
I use winamp because I'm old school I can't say it's especially different to any of the other players I've used but I stick with it anyway.
For audiobooks I use Mort Player Audiobook, now that is a very impressive app! Pity it looks so ugly but I'm sure it will improve.
I've been using PlayerPro for a while now and really like it.
I have been using Winamp since its release. So far it is a good and simple player. Besides I'm using the desktop Winamp player, which enables me to sync my music via the app wireless.
PlayerPro, because I can browse my music by folders.
I've been using Poweramp for a while and I love it! Its flawless!
Google Music. And I also using unlimited data plan
I'm using stock music app, it's good enough for me

I can't get it to download album artwork, even though the stock music app has done this and it shows in the stock app... Any ideas on what I might be doing wrong with Power amp?
Stock Player and Google Musik is good for me
Stock HTC Music player, because it is the only player that support special audio effect
I don't listen to music so much on the phone. (All the time on the PC!)
However, there are a few listed media apps here in case it helps anyone.

I am using it too, for me it is the best player ever D
Im using the HTC Player too. But thers one thing, I'm not happy about. Where is the "Coverflow". It was included in older Version. Is this function deleted or am I stupid?
For me, the best one is 3 (Cube):

PlayerPro

stock sense 3.0 music player for me. every music player ive used had a problem for me; always automatically playing, skipping, and pausing, when a headphone is jacked in. i uninstalled all other music apps. i only have stock player now. stock palyer aint so bad, the quality of the sound is almost the same as from other music apps.
Anyone tried this music player?
SQ from this player is just amazing! No other player i have tried sounds better than this including Poweramp. I haven't been able to stop listening to music all day since i got this.
Ill admit the UI needs some work but for SQ it blows any other music player out there
Grab it from the play store load some Flac tracks and just be amazed!

The UI is just too ugly for me to use
using the eq on poweramp i've never found anything better sounding including nutron, it's ugly too, but it does have potential. it may also depend of the genre of music you mostly listen too.
UI is pretty ugly but functionality is decent

I gotta be honest, the audio quality is good but I must have bad hearing or something as I couldn't get the EQ to make any noticiable change in anything, almost seems broken to me. The UI looks too professional IMO too. I want a player that looks like Google music but sounds better

What is your opinion? I have tried Google Play Music, TTPod, PowerAmp, CloudSkipper and that leftover player from Gingerbread that nobody wants
Currently deciding between TTPod and PowerAmp. The former would be the winner if it didn't have so much freaking chinese all over it.
What do you guys use?
Miui Music is my favourite.U should try it
Poweramp FTW
Poweramp

Well I personally like the gingerbread music player over the ICS stock music player, which is what I use (and I hate it), so I'm interested in using a different player and I can't wait to see what comes out of this post in the next few days. I usually just use Pandora when I'm at home simply because almost all the songs that play are songs that I already have on my phone, with the ugly UI for the stock ICS player.
Google Play Music here. It's very fast and smooth for me, even with 29GB of music.

Google Play Music here as well. With my music uploaded to Google Music, I don't have anything on my card anymore.
PowerAMP. The equalizer on it is excellent.
I was always under the impression that between the hardware & software of our smartphones, software equalizers are a mediocre solution at best. You can't really polish a piece of **** yanno.. maybe I just use ****ty headphones (I do) and listen to trashy music (I do), but I never had to really fine tune music coming from my phone's headphones.

Poweramp by far...however, if Google Music adds EQ and more list options like View by Folders, then I'm all in.
If you like the iPhone or iPod touch music player, you might like RealPlayer. It is not as feature rich as other players, but it's still pretty cool. Just try to forget the evil RealPlayer from the 90s.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...251bGwsMSwxLDMsImNvbS5yZWFsLlJlYWxQbGF5ZXIiXQ..
I tried a lot of them and I got stuck with PowerAmp like many others here. The paid version is near perfect. If it has to be free I find the stock player not too bad.
Mike
I tried poweramp but I dont like how its constantly running in the background even after you close it. I didnt see a setting to disallow this.
So far Im just using the MIUI player but its a bit barebones as far as features go
Rocket Player is my fav.. has a super EQ!
Apollo if you want the apk PM me
I have tried quite a few music player and settled on Poweramp. I found once tweaked you can get good sound out of it. It is as flashy showing album art as other players. You can customize the sound to your like globally, album or track. You can have separate presets for speakers, headset and blue tooth. To the post above there is a setting not to run in background. There are a lot of settings, once tweaked it has great sound. I ended buying the pro version. My daughter loves it too. Also it will set variables in Tasker.
Everyone has their own taste and needs.

I'm currently using the JellyBean version of Google Music on my phone (he upgraded the google music player from ICS to JB in the rom I use). I like it so far, I mainly don't use other music players typically because I do not store most of my music on the phone itself.

Know what would be nice... a 3rd party player capable of connecting to your Google Play Music cloud
The stock music player sounds much better on my earphones.. compared to power amp.
Does it mean the wolfson hardware only works for stock music player?

If stock music player sounds better, you really should try to play with the equalizer of poweramp. For me Poweramp is the best.
I hear a huge difference with my s2, so the wolson hardware is really doing it's job.
regards
same here , poweramp has better preset eq , make sure you get the latest ver of poweramp
Oh ok, thanks guys.. will try out.
u might want to try neutron music player also
Another + for poweramp. Nothing I've used comes close

I'd have to say my favorites would be poweramp or player pro.
At the minute though, I'd sway towards poweramp.

Agreed, neutron player is unreal. It's got everything you could ask for. Better quality than even poweramp.
Give it a go.
I keep switching between power amp and player pro. The only think I dont like about power amp is that even when it's closed it continues to run in the background using memory. I have been using the stock player more lately though.
I used Poweramp on my play but then tried out N7 player and fell in love with it, great user interface and the sound quality when using the equalizers was so much better IMO.
However using N7 on the S3 I found I had to tweak it more to get the sound I was after, not sure if that`s anything to do with the device though? Still using the same earphones as I did on the Play (Skull candy).
Think I`m gonna try poweramp again and see what if any difference there is now.
At first my favourite music player is Neutronmp.
It can play as much as my demanding : file type, format, bitrate.....never ever found one file that neutronmp cant play....exclude .dts.
Sounding so far v.s others app in detail and clearity....
Now, I put my eyes on vlc app. It even can play both tta and dts (not only .tta 6channels like neutronmp).
Vlc is not yet release officially, but a promise to be a king of music app

I must diagree, neutron sounds more "cold" and less focused compared to poweramp. It has also a lack of bass in the eq settings, even if you max everything out poweramp bass boost beats neutron in all aspects.

Hi, I really want to download a new music player, because to be honest, I'm getting seriously bored of all the HTC Stock stuff.
Chrome has replaced my browser (Thankgod for Chrome!)
But I cannot find a sufficiant music player, I had heard of Double Twist, but when I downloaded and used it, it pretty much halved the loudness of my music, which defeats the point of 1 - Beats audio technology, and 2 - Using my Beats headphones.
Why is it that using a different music player made my music so quiet?
Is there an alternative?
Can you make double twist louder?
I CHOSE DOUBLETWIST AS THEY OFFER ALBUM ART AND LYRICS !!
Thanks !

You can also use poweramp, n7 or neutron music player... they are good and especially neutron player has lots of options while n7 player ha very good ui
u can download albums in both
I agree that with the free version of DoubleTwist, the music isn't very loud and pretty flat ( I have beats earphones as well).
But once I upgraded it to the next level (the one that provides just the equalizer) and enabled the equalizer, music was much better.
Combine that with Xtreme sound enhancer mod, and it's a killer music player.
I also like PowerAmp, but I've always preferred DoubleTwist's sound quality over it.
I decided to play with the RealPlayer beta, and have actually found it pretty nice.
I also use google music to stream my music. I dont like that app much but it saves memory
