Anybody know how to get NFC smart tags to work? I've got hold of some Sony xperia tags and can't get them to work with the one x. Any ideas or know of any apps?

Hi there, NFC is just crazy man, I can do Magic using them.
You need NFC Task Launcher, its a paid app that you can find in Google Play Store, once you get it installed, you can then erase the contents on your xperia tags, and put whatever functions using that App, you can actually WRITE your NFC Tags with this app too.
Examples of what you can do are:
1. Embed URL info in Tag, i.e. your Facebook URL.
2. Adjust Profiles from Brightness, Volume levels, Wifi toggles BT, etc.
3. Embed your Business Card information.
4. Embed TEXT of your liking
5. Embed a Message.
6. Delete Contents currently stored on Tag.
For example I'm using 1 Tag in my car, that whenever I enter my car, it turns on Bluetooth, connects to my iDrive system (BT Phone), turns off WiFi, Starts CoPilot Navigation, and sets my brightness to MAX.
1 Tag beside my Bed, that turns off all WiFi, BT, Mobile Network, turns volume to 20%, Brightness to 30%
1 Tag in Office, Sets Volume to 40%, Turns on WiFi, Connects to my exchange server using WiFi, Update Market Apps through WiFi.
You get the Idea!
Hit [Thanks] if I have shed some lights on NFC Usage
Any questions, Just Ask or PM me!

You can use Xperia SmartTags on Google play, it's free.
It's working pretty well, I tried it to activate bluetooth on the onex.
I use nfc Task Launchera .. wonderful you can find on the play market
I posted a full post on how what etc here:

Wow! That's just awesome! I'm planning to take hold of those NFC tags.

I ride long distances on my motorcycle and I'm trying to find a GPS tracking APP that will allow my wife to follow where I'm at on my trips.
Any advise on an APP would be greatly appreciated.
You should give Realtime GPS Tracker a try. It really works well.

OK, so I haven't tried it, but I just came across Google Tracks the other day and I think it will do what you want:
Record and share your GPS tracks with My Tracks.
My Tracks records your path, speed, distance, and elevation while you walk, run, bike, or do anything else outdoors. While recording, you can view your data live, annotate your path, and hear periodic voice announcements of your progress.
With My Tracks, you can share your GPS tracks and stats online:
- Via Google+, Facebook, or Twitter
- Using Google Maps, Google Fusion Tables, or Google Docs
- As a GPX, KML, CSV, or TCX file
My Tracks uses the GPS sensor in your phone to record geographic and velocity statistics, but the app also syncs with third-party biometric sensors, including:
- Zephyr HxM Bluetooth heart rate monitor
- Polar WearLink Bluetooth heart rate monitor
- ANT+ heart rate and speed distance monitors (these require an ANT+ compatible phone)
My Tracks is an open source project. If you like to contribute, please visit:
http://mytracks.googlecode.com
The only thing is that with Tracks, you have to upload your tracking data to share. With the other, anyone you authorize can go online and see your tracking and location.
I haven't tried that many but I like "Instamapper GPS Tracker". It allows users to see your location and speed via a webpage. Here is a demo:

problems of using gps tracking app for smart phones
I used gps app in my smart phone . i have faced problem for using gps app.the problem is GPS use can take a big slice out of battery life. On newer big-screen smartphones, which already struggle to last a day, frequent use of GPS tracking can reduce endurance to a few hours. Is their any alternate solution.
Quick question whether there is an app, mod, or even build.prop edit that would allow my Note II to automatically try to connect to my car's single din Kenwood KDC‑BT952HD. Only thing the head unit tries to do when connected is re-download contacts, but it turns on as soon as my car turns on and it'd be a lot faster if my Note automatically attempted to connect to the head unit instead of the bluetooth popup with listed devices, which I don't even have considering I'm running Whompasaurus V2.9. so if there's any way I could even get the pop up that'd be great too!
I use Tasker to turn on Bluetooth and connect to my earpiece. But I need a trigger and I need to turn on my earpiece. The trigger I use is activating my map app.
So without a trigger, I don't know how to do that.
I'm new to tasker and I'm not sure how to enable the auto-connect through tasker.
I am new to Tasker too.
Task / Net / Bluetooth
will turn on/off/ toggle Bluetooth
Task / plugin / Secure Settings (separate app) / BT Connect
Will connect to your chosen Bluetooth device.
My best advice is to play around. Also, here is the first of a 3 video series on Tasker.

maybe I'm missing something here, so may suggestion by be complete off.
Maybe leaving BT tunred on your GN2 before you get in your car. Or turned it on before you get in the car. I'm assuming the ROM you're using has a BT toggle. The thinking is that your headunit will try to automatically connect to any paired BT devices. If so, the GN2 should automatically connect when the deck does it's search.
This works for me when I try connecting to Jawborn Big Jambox or Jawbone Era or other BT devices I have paired on my GN2. It may be worth nothing I'm on a deoxidized stock rom. But I this also worked when I ran AOSP roms on my Evo 4G such as CM.
If the headunit does not do a pair device search and connect when it turns on, then I would definitely try suggest above. I have no clue, and that's better than nothing.
no autoconnect on GN2
Once you had a BT connection with your car and leave it at the gas station e.g. it won't reconnect when you're back!
Sad, but since then I tried the mighty Tasker and similar apps, but was happy with the app called "Bluetooth Auto Connect".
You can define the simple trigger, when display on....
So whenever I get back into the car, I hit either the menu or start button, that's it. Without unlocking you are back connected.
The only other annoying thing that you might be able to fix with Tasker is, that right after the A2DP establishes the connection the player starts playing the last song, which I obviously don't want most of the time.
Also Play Pause Next etc over BT doesn't work too well on android.
I have a Alpine head unit and as long as my bt is on before I start the car everything syncs automatically.

I have a Kenwood Dnx6980, and my experience has been that once my phone has been setup to sync ... The Kenwood will talk to it automagically.
This is using AOSP or non stock roms. Ofc.

Bluetooth autoconnect's main feature works for my xperia pro (turn on bluetooth, connect to your selected devices in automatic)
Bluetooth autoconnect's tasker plugin is not working for me. I can use it, sort off, but it does nothing. Like, "Press the button, but there was no reply!"
Well that is odd. I have a Pioneer unit and my phone connects to it as soon as it detects it in range. Even if I turn off BT and then power it on, the phone automatically connects to the head unit without any intervention on my part. Sounds like an issue with your stereo.
No stereo issue. On some of the touch wiz based roms bluetooth DOES NOT auto connect. On most (if not all) aosp roms bluetooth DOES auto connect. Currently on ma7 stock with root and it auto connects. When I was on whomp, jellybombed, and labrats

Bluetooth Connection
Hi Guys,
Im glad i found this thread, im wondering if anyone could help me out.
My scenario is, my bluetooth is connected to my car radio playing files. When a call comes in, i need it to disconnect from the car radio and connect to my bluetooth headset, all without turning off bluetooth ( preferable )
My possible solutions are:
1 ) By using automagic, ive managed to get alot done with this app, but this seems beyond it.
2 ) Getting automagic to start an application when a call comes in which will force bluetooth connection to a specific bluetooth device and disconnected from other devices.
Anyone got any suggestions?

not sure of your rom, but both TW and CM allow you to set whether each connection is Media or Phone. put your headset to phone and your car to media only. when you answer the phone the headset should take over.

Hi everyone,
Got my black Z1c yesterday, love it so far!
However, when I try to use it in my car (Audi A6 2008), I cannot place a call if it was initiated from the car's interface.
The phone connects to BT no probs and shows my car in the devices list as a headset. Incoming calls are reflected on the car's display, and connected to the speaker's/mic of the car. When I place a call from the phone itself - same deal, all works as expected. But when I use the car's controls to dial a number, the car's display shows "connecting", and nothing happens...
Tried to pair/unpair many times, no success. Tried other phones, like iPhone 5, Samsung Ativ S (WP8), Samsung Galaxy S4 Active, HTC One - all work seamlessly. My old Xperia Z was working fine, until I sold it to get the Z1c... I would never expect Z1c to behave like this...
Anyone has similar issues?
Yes mine is the same (ford sync)

Bluetooth is a wireless protocol for exchanging data over short distances from fixed and mobile devices, creating personal area networks.
There are two important parameters of Bluetooth devices - class and supported profiles.
"Class" signifies the distance at which a Bluetooth connection is possible. Most mobile devices are Class 2, which means they have a range of up to 10 m. Class 1 devices are rare and have a range of up to 100 feet.
A "profile" is a type of Bluetooth connection. The most common are the Headset (HSP) and Handsfree (HFP) profiles that enable the device to connect to a wireless headset or handsfree.
Some other profiles are OBEX (OBject EXchange) which allows transfer of files, contacts and events; A2DP, which adds support for streaming of stereo sound and AVRC, which allows remote control of playback.

try clear caches. All kinds of caches. When I say all kinds, I mean all caches that you can clean. Retry what you want to do. If it does not help, try factory reset and retry your bluetooth connection. if it still does not help, try flash firmware. I guess this is the solution you can count on.

Thanks, will try. The phone was just outta box when I was trying it in my car... The car was the first BT device it has ever been paired wtih...
Phone calls work fine on mine.
BUT while we're on the topic of vehicle BT, has anyone got working song info via bluetooth? I thought it was supposed to support avrcp 1.3, but in my car (2013 Ford SYNC) I still get no info about songs I'm listening to and also the voice commands for playing artists or albums don't work.
/Daniel
I use it with my new Golf and the phone functions works as expected but the song info does not show. But they never do with Android phones. My 5s works of course

In my Toyota Auris 2013 model song info always worked with Walkman app assuming you have tags filled out correctly.
I know there were some issues with tag info in Poweramp I prefer to use but they got that fixed recently. Advanced options to display song info on external BT device is just buried deep in app's settings though.
Everything works fantastic on my BMW F10 (2012) with Navigation Professional, Bluetooth Music with Song Info, Phone with contact pictures (! Didn't even know that was possible until I got the Z10c) and full Message Access Profile with historic E-Mail and SMS access.
The In-Car integration is the main reason why I am torn between iPhone 5s and Xperia Z1c.
The iPhone has the Advantage of "BMW Apps", which allow using Webradio, Facebook, RSS Feeds etc. through the Navigation, as well as iPod Control and Coverart Display.
The Z10 can't do those things, but it can do Bluetooth MAP which is rather important to me also. Webradio can of course be streamed via BT (and controlled on the phone).
hi i'm a new to smartwatch 2 dev and have some questions, hope someone could enlighten
while i'm still trying to learn the framework
apparently the smart extensions api basically have
Control and Widget as programmable objects / mini-frameworks
https://developer.sony.com/referenc...onyericsson/extras/liveware/aef/widget/Widget
https://developer.sony.com/referenc...yericsson/extras/liveware/aef/control/Control
from the documentation it seem to indicate that the apps actually run on the phone and the 'host application' *sends* - bitmaps , layouts, lists to the smartwatch via bluetooth say, hence, if bluetooth is disconnected or switched off the app basically stop running (at least on the smartwatch).
Q:
1) app runs on phone and beam data (screen, layouts, events) to-from watch via bluetooth
it is correct to say that this 'smart extension' app runs on the *phone* and communicates with smartwatch 2 via bluetooth (sending screen updates etc & with bidirectional comm, e.g. the responses)
this is very inefficient and *eats battery* if that's true and it would not be possible to run the app if bluetooth is disconnected.
2) local apps on smartwatch 2
can the app run locally on the smartwatch 2 itself (i.e. no comms, bluetooth is *disconnected*, disabled) and basically as a local app on the smartwatch 2? how could that be achieved (using the same control & widget classes? needs 'active low power'?
(this is important so that apps can run locally basically using the smartwatch as a platform on its own, independent of the phone or other remote devices, saving battery etc as well)
thanks much in advance
Hi!
Basically smartwatch 2 - is an additional screen to display information from the phone through the BT. If there is no communication on the clock, you can only see the notification came earlier and run local programs. These programs (flashlight, alarm clock, etc.) are built into the firmware and can not create such a program. There are off-line clock and date. There's a picture or a font loaded in the hours, and then they are schami countdown.
As a result, if you make your plug-in, it is necessary to optimize (reduce) the exchange of information, hours and phone to save battery power.
Sorry for my English.)))
Hello, just bought a SW3.
Does Google Maps work with the built in GPS? I noticed that it starts to look immediatly for the phone...also is it possibile to move the offline maps I downloaded to the smartwatch internal memory? How does it work? I am new thanks.
I've got an LG G5 which is affected by the GPS hardware issues (ie GPS is non-existent) - my SW3 works fine in maps when paired to this phone so would guess the watches GPS is working well. Guess it could be using the phone to grab location via phone masts, but not as slow as phone location so doubt it.

In fact I was wandering if it was possible to use the smartwatch alone for running, with its built-in GPS (and perhaps offline maps loaded) but without the 4G connection of the phone.
Sony said the point of this smartwatch was to leave the smartphone at home, but I saw that the location doesn't fix if the smartwatch doesn't connect to phone first (Bluetooth and 4G).
Am I doing something wrong?

I have two of these devices. In order to use the google fit stand alone gps, i suggest that you turn off your phone or BT connection between the phone and watch as well as the wifi setting on the watch prior to a run. When you go outside, turn on the google fit app and wait a few moments while you warm up, this will give the watch a chance to lock into GPS. Then all you have to do is start moving and the standalone gps will work. The problem with google fit is that it so dependent on communications between the phone and device as well as not having a gps locking icon. I prefer to use Ghostrunner app for the sony smartwatch 3, its completely independent from the phones gps and has such a setting in the app to force the watches gps to work over the phone.
Thanks and what about google maps? Can it be used in standalone for running? Just for mapping andò routes
And what about runtastic? Can I use it with position on the phone turned off but watch GPS turned on? Apparently it doesn't work for me
I use mine for running and I use Endomondo. I just use the watch GPS on its own and after the run it syncs via bluetooth to the phone. I've heard there has been issues with this but with my LG G4 it's all worked fine.
Does anyone know how to use the smartwatch in standalone with Google Maps tracking while running? It searches for the phone connection everytime...do I have to turn BT off or follow specific steps?
thank you in advance

What do you mean? Maps doesn't record your path, if that's what you're after.
If you want to see yourself on a map, including your trail where you've been, use ghostracer. You can also load a gpx path and follow it on the map, but it doesn't give you navigation instructions, you have to watch for the turns yourself.
Navigation is in osm offline maps, but I never had much luck with it.
