Ringtone editor in Jelly Bean? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

"You can set a song as your ringtone from Play Music, and the new ringtone editor lets you crop that track to the exact section you'd like to use for the ringtone."
How? Not seeing in the vicious 4.1.1 AOSP ROM. Is there a new gapps beyond 7/11?

The OTA of 4.1.1 includes 4.3.605.392829 of the app, which has that feature (and a couple others).

But only if your american. In the ota I got
4.3.605.398337. So **** out of luck for now

Also 337 here (Nexus, Germany) and no ringtone editor either.
So what?!

Okay I have now discovered that it requires a version of the Google Music app that is later than the one that we all have. So if anyone finds a copy of the google music application that has ringtone editing please let me know. thank you

What do you mean "only if you are American"? I got my Samsung Galaxy Nexus from the US Google Play Store. I have the same Music app version as yours, 4.3.605.398337, and I have nowhere to see the ringtone editor.
Is there a way to check if I am getting American OTAs?
I really want that feature.

I thought it was just me that couldn't find the feature! I'm in the US and also have the one ending in 337. There is no newer version in the Play Store either.

my AOSP 4.1.1 rom has version has google play music v 4.3.605.392829. not seeing the option to even set song as ringtone, let alone trim

I can only wonder if even Google is aware of this.

I'm sure they are....they must be. The question is was it a goof or is something wrong with the new feature. I also wonder if it could be a music licensing issue....

I doubt it's a music licensing issue as I can't do it with MY music, not just stuff I bought from the Play Store.

The ringtone feature was removed from the Jelly Bean changelog . Therefore, we are not missing anything anymore.

Why is it not matching ICS? The icon and app pages are halo light and overview in halo dark. It matches perfectly (if you saw the android developer site.)
Though I do miss Andy. They need to put him somewhere in the market.

"Market" is not a name
Just got it as well.
I like how they replaced everything with 'Play'.
Instead of 'Read The Hunger Games' it's 'Play The Hunger Games'
Hopefully they'll update something worthwhile soon so I can 'Play with Google Wallet' instead of having it broken.
im ok with the 'play' name its the icon/logo i dont like, market was prettier

I recall reading a blog mentioning that the term "app" was patented by you-know-who. They even had an issue with Amazon's store because it had the same name.

Bit off topic, but does anyone of the apk for Play Music? I hear that it's fairly different to the stock player, well and I can't get it here in Germany.
Thanks!
EDIT: NVM, market enabler does the trick
To receive it, just clean market cache (only cache is enough), reboot, open market (wait a bit,in background it should download the update), exit, reopen and bam you will receive the play store...its confirmed to work

Malware on my phone? :(

So mysterious bookmarks keep appearing on my home screen every other day. I sort of ignored it at first but now there's one called SMS spy and something about location and now I'm creeped out. Anyone have any ideas? These don't show up in application cache or anything, just on my home screen.

I have never heard of that before. What happens when you click it? Does it direct you to a website?
I would also browse your root folder directories and see if you can find anything out of the ordinary.

Shift apps/malware for sure. Uncheck "install from unknown sources" and try to track down the rogue app. If you can't find anything, I'd factory reset. Don't wanna mess around with that stuff.

what have you been installing? any apps that aren't allowed to be discussed here can cause things like that.
Bro if your gonna download apps illegally, at least get a bunch of security applications, like 6 of em for 6 different opinions.

A few apps from the play store will add bookmarks to your home screen. TBH I can't name any off the top of my head but has happened on my GF android before. Chances are an app you have downloaded has been developed by the same people who make this "SMS spy" app. I would go through installed Apps and note who the publisher is and see if any are the same as the SMS spy app.
Chances are its just pain in arse advertising.

Someone with GSM 4.1.1 OTA version check please

Can someone who got the official OTA for their GSM Galaxy Nexus please check for me
1. Does the Google Music app have the announced ability to save a ringtone using the triangle pop up menu of a song?
2. What version number of Google Music shipped? I'm looking for a number higher than 4.3.605.392829...which does NOT have this feature.
Thanks in advance
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
1. Nope, not as far as I can tell.
2. v4.3.605.398337
Yep I've seen both versions and neither has the ringtone editing feature. This means that either Google is holding back this part of Jelly Bean or there was a delivery mess up because it is listed in the change log but no one seems to have it..... Regardless of how they got JB.

I have a galaxy nexus running 4.1.1 bootloader unlocked and rooted. I have installed the TM server app files from a few posts up and the newest version of drive link app. I am still getting the "usb device not supported". Unlikely has anything to do with JB. Most likely the permissions listed below are incompatible with the Nexus 7.

Yes I keep encountering apps that don't appear in the market. They may very well work, but won't appear for nexus 7/jelly bean.
Some examples?
linephone
GT racing Hyundai edition
And there are lots of others that I can't think of now. Since owning this nexus (since launch date) I've probably encountered 30-40 apps that aren't available on the market. And I know there are lots others. Didn't really bother me at first, but I thought with how much this has sold that developers would issue (what would be minor most of the time) updates so these would be available.
And I've never bothered looking into it, but I know obviously you can keep an apk when downloading it from the market and others have posted them on various websites for others in situations like this, however my understanding is with jb it encrypts them so this is no longer possible with jb.
Because sometimes I get determined and go hunting for an apk and it turns out to be two versions behind or whatever. Is there a way to download apks even on jb? Is there an app that can do this? I'm not saying this regarding pirating, just another means of trying to get apps that are free that would more than likely work on this device.
