I misunderstood someone when I was flashing a ROM to this phone, and now the phone won't charge or turn on. I did a bit of searching around and this seems to be a total brick. Is there any way of recovery?

So you flashed a GSM radio/ROM on a CDMA phone or visa-versa?
AFAIK, if you flashed the wrong radio, it is bricked. Perhaps ROM as well, I'm not actually sure.
I think the only way out is JTAG... What did you do exactly?
Ya, I was flashed GSM to CDMA lol. Guess I will toss it on ebay.

Hey, if you've still got it. I could really use the screen.
I have a problem with rooting my new Galaxy Nexus.
My phone is already unlocked which can be seen in Fastboot Mode.
I used the 'Galaxy Nexus Toolkit v5.4' and choosed as Model the 'CDMA/LTE MODEL -> Android 4.0.4 (Build IMM30B)' and tried option 4 (Root your phone).
Steps i perform then are:
1) Plug the phone in (my device is listet under FASTBOOT MODE)
2) type 'yes'
3) Phone reboots -> Enable USB Debugging mode
4) Wait 160secs and phone reboots automatically
5) Following Text appears:
downloading 'boot.img'...
OKAY [0.416ms]
booting...
OKAY [0.416ms]
finished. total time: 0.702s
Waiting for Device
Now continuing in 10 seconds
Setting up Root on your phone
adbd is already running as root
remount succeeded

failed to copy 'root\Superuser.apk' to '/system/app/Superuser.apk': I/O error
Unable to chmod /system/bin/su: Read-only file system
Unable to chmod /system/app/Superuser.apk: No such file or directory

Obviously rooting did not work. My carrier is BASE (Germany) so i assume that i have a GSM Model of the SGN. However because the Toolkit does not provide a GSM Model with Android 4.0.4 i choose the CDMA/LTE Model. Could this be the problem or do i make any other mistake?
Any help is appreciated...
sorry, but you are crazy..if your phone is GSM, never apply something for CDMA... (it can seriously break things, even if this is not the case )..but in the future i suggest you to don't try to apply something cdma to your gsm phone
if your nexus is GSM and not rooted, i presume you are on 4.0.1 or 4.0.2 (go in settings/ phone info!!!)

There is a hacked GSM version out there unless the OP got a leak.
Unless you have the 4.0.4 rom installed on GSM you have a cdma device.

I'm not sure if i have GSM or CDMA...
I just assume it because i have a german carrier and as far as i know you
need to have a Verizon (American carreir) handy to be CDMA.
But i don't know if i get this right...
How can i check which version i have?

Using the whole 'if it has a simcard its GSM' is kinda an invalid way of distinguishing these phones nowadays since all of Verizon's LTE phones use sim cards.

Download "Android System Info" from the Market, go on the system tab and then on "build info". If the Device line says "maguro" it's a GSM variant, if it says "toro" it's CDMA.

Unless he's rooted, the stock vzw is a 515, while the GSM has 9250 in the baseband, so it looks like he legit is GSM. I'm thinking he might have bought a return phone that someone "tinkered" with.

You're gonna give him better advice than me, but I'm thinking his best bet is to Odin to stock, then root and do whatever he wants.
Ok now that we found out that this phone is a GSM variant i have another question:
Can i now safely flash a rom like AOKP even if it currently is based on a 4.0.3?
So if i can flash it through CWM the phone should be rooted because the ROM is rooted, right?
The downgrade from 4.0.4 to 4.0.3 should be no problem, i think.
I've been an Android user for a while (Nexus One, and now Galaxy Nexus), but am quite tired of Samsung's tyrannical rule over that little version number in "About Phone".
So, I've got my Samsung Galaxy Nexus (on 4.0.1, ERGH!), and I'm on Bell Canada (Alberta, specifically), and I don't believe I have LTE capability (I do have HSPA+...). As for computer, I run Windows 7 x64.
On that note, I'd like to unlock the BootLoader and flash 4.0.4 (no root, if possible), or at least be able to receive updates directly from Google.
These are the questions (and confirmations) I have, as I haven't been able to find any FAQ or thread that covers them...
1. Is this the ROM I should be downloading?
2. Is this the tool I should be using to unlock the BootLoader safely and properly?
3. Is a relocked BootLoader traceable by the carrier/manufacturer, in the event that I need to return it?
4. What is the best way to back up all of the App data on my phone? (High scores, calendar settings, user/password combinations, etc.) Or is this even possible? (I think things like contacts, phone settings, calendar events, and Apps will sync from the cloud... right?)
Any help is appreciated... I'm a bit of a tech geek but I've never even tampered with a phone before, so this is all new to me. Thanks to anyone brave enough to help me! ^^
PS: Sorry if this is in the wrong section; this was the most fitting, I thought.
I used that toolkit and that update and I can confirm that they both work
That is NOT the ROM for you, you have a GSM device. H+ is not LTE.
The GSM and CDMA devices are markedly different.
Try to read in this thread... as well as efrant posts, you will get your answer !
N.B. most important thing is read and read and read... before doing anything..

Doesn't rooting require wiping the device, though? I'm interested in backing it up pre-4.0.4.

There is no 4.0.4 source. There is a rumored leak of the 4.0.4 LTE version (no idea of the condition of the version), but the only source that is available is 4.0.3 (it's in the AOSP). The latest version on any GN is 4.0.2 (GSM or LTE/CDMA).
It's kind of disappointing to see the GN taking so long to update, but the Nexus S is apparently taking ages to get onto ICS. I doubt we get another update until the Nexus S gets 100% updated to ICS.

Excellent, I'll give these a try.
Okay, so I unlocked, rooted and flashed my Galaxy Nexus (4.0.4) last night (it's Toro if that helps) and it does not get service.
When I flashed to a custom ROM I wasn't able to even access the APN.
I tried AOKP and Black ICE.
I go to Settings -> Wireless & networks -> More... -> Mobile networks ->, after which there is no option to change the APN.
If I revert to my stock ROM, I have the ability to change my APN but it won't save after entering the details.
I cannot get service on my stock ROM anymore, meaning that my phone is basically a brick.
I have searched for this error on these forums and online and cannot find a solution, hence the reason I am posting here.
Would un-rooting / re-rooting / re-locking my phone fix this / these error(s)?
Has anyone even heard of this before?
Thanks friends. xoxo.

Wait, your phone is Toro (CDMA) and you're trying to mess with APNs (a GSM thing)? Something not right there...
I would completely flash your phone back to stock to rule out the possibility that it's a firmware/software issue.

So do you have a GSM or a CDMA phone? Are you using the phone on Verizon or Sprint in the USA? If so, you're CDMA. Toro if you're Verizon and Toroplus if you're Sprint. If you're using it on any other carrier in the world then you're Maguro, GSM.

I'm looking for any help with finding an OTA zip or a firmware zip (not RUU) with stock recovery and hosd image. Tried out different image already to no avail. Would really appricate it if anyone can provide me with either or a way to get those from HTC or AU.
Pretty sure there is nothing about as yet. Been to all the usual places and boards, and sweet FA. If you check Twitter, you see Japanese users also looking. We'll have Nougat OTA being pushed soon - hopefully, we'll see something then.
To my own surprise, I was able to find the OTA file for the latest update, if anyone is interested I will upload it for everyone use.

I don't think it is possible to get your US unlocked phone to work on au because it seems there is some sort of verification built into the stock rom. I tried to use a custom rom to no avail. I'm not that proficient in ROM stuff so I cannot say for sure and there is no RUU yet so your chances are pretty slim I'd say. You could try flashing the radio image though
Not sure which one that is however. I've tried roms and fully converting to WWE with no avail.

You need to have the same cid and mid so this wouldn't work on your U.S Unlocked. You could change your CID and mid to match to allow you to flash, but you'd likely be the first person to try something like that so there's always a risk

Not sure. I once flashed a radio from a different version on my 10, I lost signal but it didn't brick my phone or anything. So you could try it, but enter at your own risk.

Incorrect. Both Verizon and Sprint have the HTC 10 running on their networks.
EDIT: If you mean the US Unlocked version, then semi-correct. You can use that on Verizon, but not on Sprint
I just don't understand why I can't get it to work on the au network out here then when when fully converted to wwe

Because WWE is GSM. If the au is CDMA, then I would suggest US Unlocked firmware. I'm not sure it will work, but I do know that US Unlocked phones do work on the Verizon network.
EDIT: Maybe this thread will help
