Hi I was considering an Xperia pro as my next phone ( im coming from an Xperia x10). I was wondering if anyone has used this phone on AT&T's medianet unlimited data plan. So, can anyone confirm whether this phone will work with medianet?
Cheers!

I am. But avoid this Mobile; OS update turns it into a nightmare!! Sony support sucks!! SE support was wonderful until Sony took over. ICS update turns the phone into a mess!!
But I do use a regular phone data plan. I don't have anything but mobile broadband, so I use my Arc as a modem, especially WiFi modem. Update has destroyed that, makes it a nightmare to connect pc to Mobile.
MOO, so if you are happy, go for it!!

OK.. I was asking about the mk16a Xperia Pro. Not the arc. Good rant though!
Seriously, has anyone successfully used the Xperia Pro mk16a in the USA with at&t's mediaNet unlimited data plan?

It works fine..
He's right. I have feature phone unlimited data, no problems. Well, there are some problems, but they are negligible, I can certainly live with them.
The main reason why I went with an unlocked Mobile. NEVER AGAIN WILL I EVER GET A BRANDED MOBILE!!

Hey guys. Guess whaaaaat?
I got an unlocked xperia pro and it works perfectly on mediaNet!
This is sick!
Great news!! Already blew through 16 gig this month. I have to have streaming video, portable WiFi for my pc, and YouTube, no television. Just don't give at&t your IMEI number. I didn't. Will NEVER buy another branded phone, EVER. Unlocked from now on!!!

Well it looks like at&t has caught up with the mk16a xperia pro. I've been shunted to the 3gb data plan automatically.
BTW, it doesn't matter if you give them your imei or not. They can get that through the gsm connection anyway...

What's up everyone. I might be picking up a used sgs2 4g. I'm currently not under contract with T-Mobile, and was wondering if this phone could be used under simple mobile. I'm kind of enjoying the no contact prices, but not the no contact devices. If it would work under simple, would 3g/4g work? That's all I really care about. Thanks!

From what I've heard T-Mobile's 3g and 4g should work on Simple Mobile because T-Mobile and Simple Mobile shares the same radio bands.

Simple mobile rents out Tmobiles network, any Tmobile device will fully work on simple mobile without an unlock. My source is Tmobile, my employer.

Yes, T-Mobile's 3G/4G works on Simple Mobile but you will have to change the APN's to get it to work. Their data is limited to 2GB's tho. After that they throttle you to a snail's pace! It's the only that sucks about Simple Mobile.
Has anyone used the sgs2 on simple mobile? How is the service?
+1
Phone rocks!
Love your work!

I have used simple mobile for over five months and have gone over 2gb each month and only got throttled once. The data is unlimited, they only throttle if u use a lot of bandwidth.

Thanks for the reply. Did you buy the T989 from a t-mobil corporate store and then just use a simple sim & apn settings? This is what I am thinking of doing.

I got it for 10 hours then i returned it, screen and camera was better with optimus v, so i bought SG2 and will never never go back. Monthly4g $30 plan is good if you don't use more than 100 minutes a month.
Hey you guys, I've been using the 40$ Plan for SimpleMobile and will be soon buying a Galaxy S3. I will unlock it and use it for SimpleMobile. I was wondering if it supported and how the connection is. I know the connection and internet speeds can vary depending where you are, so I am in Boston Massachusetts. If anyone could help that would be nice, thank you very much!
Ive had simple mobile a long time ago now i have t-mobile also u dont need to unlock it because simple mobile runs same network as t-mobile but yea its cheap and all but speed are like what ever u know its okay but u get what u paid for

Thanks for the answer. Anyone else have anything that may help me?
I have my daughter on simple mobile and its fine. The only thing you have to do is change the apn but there is actually an app on the market the changes it for you. The other thing is you may have to cut a sim card down to size because I was told micros weren't available but that was a few months ago so that might've changed.

Im with simple too in Tx and ive gotten up to 14 mbps which i think is great.

I've had simple mobile before and had no problems what's so ever. I'm actually thinking about going back to them after my t mobile contract expires in February.
The only reason I went to t mobile is because at the time they were offering the HTC hd7 for free with a new account.. Lol btw that phone sucked.
Now they do sell the micro sim cards. You can get one off their website for like 12$ or on eBay for about 2$.
So no manual cutting needed. If it's a t mobile phone no need to unlock it for simple mobile. And another thing you have to adjust is the apn. But that is described step by step on the simple mobile website.

Well I know much about phones but not too much when it comes to speeds. Since you get 14mbps in Texas (I think that's what you meant by Tx) then how fast is it?
hi
I love the look of this phone...I currently have the Sony Xperia Pro and this phone is a step up, memory and processor wise....
However I am nervous that if I buy one on ebay that maybe it will be incompatible with Rogers, just wondering if any clever OR knowledgeable soul with first hand experience would know if this will work on the Rogers network in Canada?
Any replies will be very much appreciated thank you
This phone is sold in Canada under rogers network....so I hope it would work on Rogers. Lol

Hello folks..
Im just wondering if anyone of you TRIED to insert an LTE SIM to Xperia Acro S? Im wondering about the mobile internet speed if possible. If you have LTE sim with data, can you go try to insert it to your Acro S and do a speedtest?
THank you and hoping to hear from you
If it supports it i see why it shouldent work
try inserting the sim and going to settings to see if lte has shown up

LTE requires a proper LTE frequencies built into the phone. Something that XAS doesn't have. The SIM is only part of the process

Thanks for the response.. you know, im outdoor most of the times with my laptop so USB tethering is vital for me. Now, Im considering to buy another LTE phone, can you guys suggest some which costs just right?
Im thinking this Xperia SP but color saturation are poor like Z and V is an older model so I guess i dont want it. Plus the 8gb internal storage is annoying.. if you have any other phones to recommend within the same price range will be appreciated a lot
I'm looking for an inexpensive way to get data on my soon to arrive N7 since my phone plan doesn't include data and I plan to be on the road a lot next year.
Also open to suggestions one good ones if the answer is yes.

why not just use the 3g connection of ur cellphone via wifi tethering?
Since you're going to be on the road, I'd suggest getting a Verizon mobile hotspot. Verizon is expensive, but you'll get the most consistent connection with them wherever you go. It's not USB, but the batteries last a while and you won't have a dongle hanging off your tablet. If you're in a car or hotel, you'll be able to keep it charged.
Also, with the hotspot, you can connect your laptop and phone to it. Just out of curiosity, your signature says that you have an LG-LS970, which is the Sprint LG Optimus G, how do not have data on it? I figured they would've required it.

Yes you can do it. Get a program called PPPWidget
You need to be rooted and you need a kernel that will support the 3G driver. I am using CM 10.2 with glitch kernel. ElementalX works too however I think you have to have Stock ROM or something AOSP based.
I have a Huwaei E303 3G dongle that I use. I think the dongle support is limited in these kernels.
Just used mine in Guam / Saipan / Tinian. It worked.
Thanks for the answers. I've been wondering this as well.
