Thanks , i hope it works unless it is such a strange option
i've had problems with 3g connection too ..i've just done a wipe data ..hope it works..
I'm having this problem as well, when WiFi was rock-solid on ICS. Just seems like WiFi signal is weaker overall on JB and drops frequently in my home where it didn't before.
I'm also having this problem.
I've noticed that sometimes when I puck up the phone and unlock the screen, it has 3 bars of wifi, but still grey (not blue). Apps, including the browser, seem to connect to the internet just fine when this happens.
I have noticed a big difference compared to stock ICS 4.0.4, CM9 and even the Google I/O Jelly Bean preview.
My WiFi drops from three bars to one bar, and I have noticed on three separate occasions that I have completely lost signal and become disconnected from the internet when browsing and downloading apps from the Play Store.
I've noticed that the 4.1.1 is showing less bars than 4.0.4 in the same place/distance... Either they have change how much bars phone is showing for each signal strenght level, or it is really weaker, but I'm tempted to say it is just a cosmetic change, as I've been able to connect at the same places where it connected before, and loose connection at the same places where it couldn't connect before as well...

Thanks! This helped me too, but WiFi still doesn't seem quite as reliable as it did on ICS.
Are you guys actually losing internet connection or the bars are just fewer than before? If you are losing your connection just uncheck avoid poor connections in the settings. If you are not losing internet connection, I think they just changed the way the bars show signal strength in jelly bean. Maybe it's more accurate now or something or follows some standard they set.
My own experience is that the bars seem to report a weaker signal but the internet connection/speed is the same. Which brings me to believe that it is just a cosmetic change.

Both :/
I have similar issues since upgrading to JB (io12 version, 4.1, 4.1.1). I didn't stumble upon this post until now so I actually posted about my wifi issues with JB yesterday. Feel free to join the debate:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1773081
I can add...
- Unchecking the 'poor connection' wifi setting was one of the first things I tried. But wifi still dies on me in JB.
- Wifi range was noticeable better in ICS. Some of the connections I'd normally use are now constantly out of range in JB.
- The problem occurs on both 5 and 2.4 GHz.
- Signal bar indication is not very precise and indication was already low for me with ICS (the bars, not if I used % indication). But I didn't drop the connection like in JB.
So it does seem like quite a lot of us have weak wifi signal/poor wifi range with JB.
I don't have any problems with my WiFi

Actually I had problems on ICS with constants fall and breaks on my router and now with jelly bean it is flawless and excellent speeds. Pretty happy.

WIFI issues on JB
I'm also having WIFI issues ... I'm 10ft from the router, full bars but WIFI keeps disconnecting/reconnecting.
My device was originally a yakjuxw ICS
In an attempt to get JB early, I tried going to yakju ICS and then takju ICS and now yakju JB ... WIFI has been a problem for all 3 ...
and of course I have no backup :-|
so not necessarily a JB-specific issue but curious if others with WIFI issues also originally had yakju** builds ?

I haven't seen yakjuxw on sammobile ...
anyway I found workaround for my wifi issues!!!
I changed the WIFI security to WEP (was WPA2) and WIFI is now working without any problems!

My GNex was originally a yakjuxw, but I've been rooted for quite a while now.

Hey guys I've got the GSM version and every now and then my signal bars turn grey, this is with full signal even showing 3g buts its grey and won't call out or load data. I'm not a twit and understand that phones loose signal its just strange it comes back randomly also. Very annoying.
I'm on 4.0.1 Google build anyone else get this issue?

grey full bars
i dont have a technical response to this question other than i only notice this during times of transition between either booting up the phone or switching to wifi on or off equally.
The phone usually checks to sync when it has been on standby and you then hit the power button. If you theoretically switch between wifi and 3g/4g during this time it would force a transition which could yield a situation as you describe.
This happens to me too sometimes. What network do you have?

You have to find out the true reason why your connection is being interrupted. The bars going grey instead of blue is just reflecting the fact that your connection isn't persistent and you don't have a full sync with Google.
Blue bars = connection to Google servers
Grey bars = no Google servers

When you open the browser does it say that there is no network coverage and you have to turn off the airplane mode?
I was having the same issue with 4.0.1, I was getting disconnect from the mobile network almost every 2-3 hours and the only way to get online again was to do a reset. But now with 4.0.2 everything seems to work fine.
My carrier (Simyo in Spain) is a "virtual operator" (MVNO), so I'm thinking that the issue was somehow related with the “data was disconnected due to roaming” bug in 4.0.1.
Been having same issues on Wifi and 3g, causes huge issues with push gmail
Edit: I removed dns changer from my phone, and seems to be helping

Thanks Menek, I am still on 4.0.1. Hopefully soon I will get an OTA update.
Hello,
This thread kind of died down but it is very important. Here is the issue logged by other users with Google. http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=22503
Has anybody managed to find a fix?
I called Samsung yesterday and they advised me to return the phone. I don't feel like being without a phone for 2 weeks. Besides it is sort of proven that it is a Rom issue (am I correct?). What do you say guys, shall i send it to Samsung or wait for an update from Google? The problem doesn't happen very often, every once in a while. I suppose this is why the battery runs out pretty quickly as it tries to connect to a network too often. And when it doesn't establish connection it goes to Airplane mode.
Any more comments on this issue?
Hi guys, I have seen similar issues being mentioned in other threads, but I do not want to bump any dead threads and also because I want to ask all my questions at once
So the problem is that my wifi connection sometimes have hiccups. (No connection error in the play store for example) but my wifi indicator never fades and it's still blue. and with a few presses and refreshes of the page, the connection would reestablish again.
Also my gnex's wifi reception is really poor, sometimes it only has 3 bars of wifi signal but the router is literally 1 step away from it. All of my other electronics works fine with my router with no drops at all.
If this is a hardware issue.... I guess I have no choice but to swallow it.... but if it's a software issue, are there any solutions to the solve this problem? (Roms, Kernels etc.)
My galaxy nexus is a NTT docomo model, Rooted with stock 4.0.4 yakju, Build number IMM76I
Thanks in advance
Bump
Nobody knows the problem?
Try Googling DD-WRT. Its open source firmware for most routers. Just look up your router on their site. It fixed my connectivity issues with this phone on my home network. Won't do anything if your wifi is acting up on outside networks.

I prefer tomato. No rebooting for most changes since its done in Ajax. Dd-wrt has a lot more options though. Tomato fixed my ps3 issue (turning on due to Mac verification every so often).
For the bars don't use that. Read decibals.
Also check to make sure your wifi sleep policy is set correctly

are you running XXLF1?
Same issue
Facing the same issue : since i upgraded to Jelly Bean, i often lost cellular acess. The only solution to get network back is to reboot my galaxy nexus. Is there a better fix ?
Me too....
Yep me too. I also have Wi-Fi problems. If I am listening to any internet radio the program constantly drops its connection and takes sevral seconds to re-buffer. This happens with T-Mo HSPA+ or regular 3G when i am getting full signal strength. It also happens with Wifi. There are some other threads regarding the issue. I had no trouble whatsoever when I was running ICS. I am completely stock on yakju firmware. I hope Goog releases a fix soon. JB is soooo nice except for these radio issues. I noticed it immediately after the OTA. :crying:
I urgently need a solution to fix a reception issue with the GNex,
I have tried multiple radios, ROMs, etc but I am still only getting one bar or no bars when my X10 gets full reception, sometimes I can get the phone to stay with full reception and it never drops, until I turn my internet on, then it disappears completely again. When I dial USSD codes, my reception is full again, until I end the USSD code, then it drops.
Thanks for the replis

I have tried 3 different Networks, all give the same issue.
The phone used to have reception, until the JB upgrade, rolling back to ICS didn't help either
Sounds like a hardware issue
Sounds like an area issue otherwise your bars would not fluctuate. Don't compare the signal on the phone to others, you will never have the exact same results. hardware issues would result in having no signal not weak signal.

it could possibly be just an issue with your settings. try tinkering around with using either 2G, 3G, or 2G/3G signal. I had this same problem with my Galaxy Ace before, and now with my brother's Galaxy S3.
Thanks for the replies everyone, I have sent the phone in to Samsung, the area I am in has reception for all networks, the Nexus randomly loses reception, from what I've read it might be a deep sleep issue, I have been through all the settings, I'm not a noob with droids, anyway, I'm more inclined to believe it's a hardware issue

I did already, I tried the ICS stock ROM, and the JB Stock ROM, both gave the same issue, custom ROMs did the same, radios\basebands did not help, so now I wait for Samsung
I can't access mobile data.. 2G or 3G on my phone since yesterday. Earlier, there used to be occasional signal drops, but toggling mobile data, airplane mode, or rebooting would resume the connection. My APN and account balance etc are OK. Now, voice call and wifi work ok, but elsewise, the signal bars stay greyed out, and 3G, G, H or E indicators never show - it's as if it isn't even attempting to connect to data. :crying: I also had a problem with the toggles on the notification screen not updating... i.e. showing on even though i's turned off as shown in settings menu. I wiped dalvik and cache today... but again, no change.
I tried my sim on another handset and got connectivity, though a very slow connection. This is a peak mobiole usage time here, so bandwidth may be clogged, but no connection altogether?
Any help on how to get back data connectivity would be really appreciated.
Can you please tell me if there is any way to pinpoint if this is a network deficiency or a hardware or software issue? Can the radio malfunction for only mobile data leaving voice and WiFi intact?
I'm running:

CM10 FXP 235

Lupus for JB v12
Why are you using BB64? For CM10 you should be using BB77 or above.

For ICS, use BB77 and above, anything below will not work.
For JB, use BB85, although BB77 should work fine with it.

Actually, I got back data connectivity once before I could flash BB85.. so most probably network was a factor.
Anyway... I managed to flash BB85, and connection is quite nice, except for the persistent issue of occasional mobile data drops -(toggles not updating) . Thanks!
By toggles not updating, what I mean is If I connect the phone to 2G - and leave it, sometimes the phone will show no data connection and greyed out signal bars, even though data quick toggle is on. If I turn it off, it will not grey out. If I turn on wifi, though, the data toggle finally turns off.. and turning it on after that reconnects 2G. Any idea what causes this?
