4.1.1 and lightflow - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

So i got my 4.1.1 update yesterday and ever since then my notification LED stopped working all together.
I uninstalled lightflow and my LED is back again.
Just wondered if it works for everyone else still before i bother to reinstall and set it all back up.
Cheers for replies

The dev of that app is working on jelly bean issues. He is aware of it.

Ah nice one.
thanks for the reply mate. Ill keep an eye out for updates.

Known Issues
Jelly Bean not yet clearing notifications
The accessibility service doesn't seem to be running in Jelly bean causing issues. I'm looking into it. Going into phone settings, accessibility and switching lightflow off and back on again sometimes helps.

I see that I can't access to light flow notifications (where I set my preferences) but it runs... I hope in an update very soon!

Lightflow doesn't seem to be working on Jellybean yet, it mentions that he's working on that still on the app page. Can't get it to act properly for me either.
Aaaaand my response is a bit goofy looking being made right after the same thing!

Damn its amazing how much you can miss the little things. This stock LED is driving me crazy

Now I realize how important LightFlow is to me!
Thanks in advance for resolving this problem.

Don't notice it till its gone. Patiently waiting for the update. Bought the paid app I'm sure he's working hard.

Lets keep each other updated on the status of the fix.

after disabling the app and service and re-enabling both, most all my notifications seems to be working fine for the last 24 hours or so. the only one that doesn't work is the sms/mms notification, but i'm using sms popup and i don't recall it ever working with that app enabled previously on ICS.
most everything clears fine as well by either swiping the notification away or closing all notifications with the 'close all' notification bar icon. the two exceptions to this seems to be wordfeud and plume (twitter) which i have to actually open the apps for the notification to clear.
i'm currently using lightflow to notify me of:
gmail
sms/mms
plume (twitter)
friendcaster (facebook)
missed calls
wordfeud
battery 100%
google voice
parcels (package tracking)**
** i haven't confirmed working yet
update : google voice is working. just got a call and a vm. both my missed call and google voice notifications are cycling.

I have noticed that if i restart the phone Lightflow needs to be manually started to get it to work...after you launch the app it does work properly..patiently waiting..wicked app

"Jelly Bean not yet clearing notifications

The accessability service is the heart of Lightflow, when it stops all bets are off.
I'm sure they'll release the fix soon and all will be well again in jelly land

looks like theres an update! a review (play store review) said it now works on jellybean.

I tested. Doesn't work. App crashes..and now I'm stuck with it until a fix..lol. sux.

Updated. Preliminarily it seems to be working fine now. Haven't tested a ton yet though.

which kernels are you guys using? I have noticed that some kernels stop my led altogether. I'd like to give it a shot but I have yet to have it work for me on 4.1.1

Yessssssss! It works! I'm happy. Thanks Dev!!
I'm on stockrom, unrooted.

Thanks for that - phone is upstairs on charge (as usual with its battery life hah, and I'm that lazy to go fetch it) - but I'll check when I go to bed later. Feel stupid for not trying this!
Ive found that turning off the screen still dosnt work for me but the app does actually work when i miss a call or text.

Thanks! new to android phones, works perfectly
It certainly works well.
But I find it to not work at times. Once I enabled the "force run in foreground" then I couldn't turn my phone screen on and had to take the battery out. So I think I'm fine with having it worked almost 80% of the time
It's a great app, quick and easy to setup.
But it does stop working sometimes, I've had it once or twice.
Does anyone else have problems with Lightflow? The notifications work well but then after I've checked the email or whatever, I turn the screen back off and the light carries on flashing, even though I don't have any more notifications
It depends on the notification, but if it's a Gmail notification and I open Gmail it goes away.

The app uses a few methods of clearing notifications.
At the moment 2.7.2 has a bug if you choose "screen" as the clear notification style. It's fixed in the dev build, but not in the market yet.
The others are manual (where you have to manually clear a lightflow notification in your notification bar) and finally "app". (some apps such as gmail have extra methods)
"App" monitors for entering the app (or pressing the "clear all" button in older builds of android) and clears when you've entered the app.
I'm guessing that if you swipe away a notification from the notification bar that the led might still keep going as with Gingerbread there wasn't a method to clear single notifications directly from the notification bar. I'm hoping this has changed in ICS. I know the accessibility service has had things added to it, but nothing jumped out at me that would add in the relevant hooks.
Remember when upgrading the app from one version to another (there's been a few updates over the last few days) that I'd recomment powering off and back on the phone.
Looking forward to running lightflow on a GN myself as I've just picked one up today.
This gives me chance to see if there are any cool features I can add into lightflow for ICS and specifically the GN.
Now, just to get my "real" job out of the way for the day so I can start playing with the GN!
does using lightflow affect the battery alot?
Apparently it drains alot
Lightflow gave me Sleep of Death, so I uninstalled it. All ok now.
Trackball alert pro is pretty cool too, one of my favorite apps on the n1, it's now compatible with ics , but currently only works on the modaco rom.

For those with Enterprise email/Exchange if you ever used Touchdown - might be good to go back.
Their light notifications work fine with Galaxy Nexus - set different notification colors for email, calendars and tasks
PS The Touchdown Tablet HD (Honeycomb) version actually works better though you need to pinch zoom out the email list to get the font smaller

Are you sure it's lightflow. If it is I'd be keen to work out what's causing it.
If anyone who had this issue is using lightflow, could they switch on file logging and then at least if it does happen you can mail to log to me and I'll take a look, but I've heard of others getting the sleep of death that have never installed the app.
I've been using light flow since I got my nexus last week, never had any issues. Great app!

Notification LED doesn't flash

The new message notification LED on my (new) LTE Gnex only flashes once or twice, just when the phone boots up. Doesn't flash when a new message arrives. I've tried disabling it, and re-enabling it in settings, but it just does not work. This does not seem normal, and I'm wondering if I need to return the phone, which I really don't want to do. I've already unlocked the bootloader and rooted, but still running the stock ROM.

Have you tried Light Flow from the Market?
This has worked with the stock ROM.
I personally use Trackball Alert Pro - MoDaCo ROM has suppport for this.
Just tried calling myself, and hung up. The LED isn't lighting up. But I have seen it blink for emails at least. Hmm.. maybe try light flow.

Have not tried any 3rd party apps, yet. First I wanted to know if there was a problem with my phone, or if this is "just" a bug. If others have this same problem, then I'll try a 3rd party solution. Thanks for the feedback.
Tried the same thing, called myself and sent messages with no led notification. Thought my led was broken but then installed light flow and it worked no problems.
Not sure how it was supposed to work stock but could not get it to work at all without a 3rd party app.
Without the app, the only option I could fight was pulse notifications which I tried turning on and rebooting but it never seemed to work.

Just tried light flow. When I tried the "test LED" function, my phone would no wake from sleep. Also got sleep of death when I got an email. Had to do a battery pull. Any solution for this?
I looked at Trackball Alert and it requires Paul's ROM, which I'm not ready to try (yet).
I noticed it doesn't light up when it's charging either. Is this normal behavior?
From what I've seen so far the stock light is a hit and miss for me. Only time will tell how they will improve this.

Well its not your phone....The light stock is stupid I have no idea why you would include a light that only flashes random times and only in white..... I had issues with lightflow crashing my phone when waking with several notifications flashing. Just bite the bullet an flash ARHD or Paul's rom they both support Trackball notification and it works very well!!

Yep. Probably don't have/use most apps that support it for me to notice it all the time.
I've been having the same trouble. Haven't seen the light in days.
I went back and revisited some of my settings. I had turned on the setting for the screen to "stay awake while charging." I unchecked it, and now my light is working again.
Now, it only ever comes on when the screen is off to begin with. It won't come on if the notification happens while it's already on.
But at least the light comes on when the screen is off now!
(And I really wish the blink rate was higher. You can look at it for several seconds between blinks, and think there's nothing and look away.)
So the change I made to the settings seems to have fixed the light issue. I have been properly getting notifications since I turned off the keep awake. Seems like an easy enough to fix bug as long as they know about it.
But now what I want is a faster blink rate. One second on out of every 6 or 7 seconds is easy to miss.

[Q] Light Flow with JB

Having difficulty getting Light Flow to work on my Nexus (GSM) with JB installed. The sound is a phantom sound from before the JB install (probably from my backup).
I have disabled sound notifications for SMSes in stock Messaging app, in Handcent (which I use), and only have LF enabled sound notifications in SMS/MMS, and changed both of them to the same thing, which is something different than the noise I'm hearing.
Any ideas?
Also having difficulty with Light Flow after updating to stock Jelly Bean. It takes quite a while after booting the phone for Light Flow to appear in the status bar and none of the light notifications seem to work properly.
Is it a Jelly Bean issue and should I just wait for the app to get updated?
I didn't have sound problems with it, but I couldn't ever get the light to go away.. probably just needs to update cause it did the same thing on all the roms I've tried
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
Same here. I haven't been able to get Light Flow to work either, but I'm also noticing that my notification LED doesn't seem to be working AT ALL now. I'm thinking about reflashing JB to see if that fixes it, but I've tried everything short of that to see if it works and it hasn't lit at all. Not sure what's going on.
If you go check the play store it says that the issues with jelly bean are known and they are working on it.
Sent via moon rays...
Mine has been working great with Jelly Bean. In Accessibility make sure Light Flow is turned on. Also, here is my saved lightflow backup file if you want to try it on yours to see if it works.
I'm using Jelly Belly 3.3, did a clean install with the JB bootloader, and restored light flow and data with tibackup.
Good luck! :good:

Light Flow issue fixed on 4.1.1

Hey guys. Im having a problem with Light Flow. Im sure a lot of you use it? Although i couldnt find many threads on it. I even searched Google for this issue. So hopefully you guys can help.
Anyways im using Light Flow 3.0.2
And it works great but a lot of the time ill get a notificiation (screen will be off) the LED will flash its appropreate color. Ill check the notification (Lets say Gmail) read the email, delete the email, respond to the email w/e and turn the screen off again.
Then the LED will still be flashing for that notification even though i checked it and erased it.
The only way i have found to fix this other then reboot ofcourse is to go into Light Flow > Notifications. I notice when i do this LightFlow gets granted Superuser then i exit turn screen off and all is good.
Any ideas?

when removed the app it disabled the vibration for new sms, gmail ..etc
tried everything without success (disabled settings & re-enable it, rebooting, ...etc), so I didn't bother to install it again after a factory reset (stock ICS by the way)

So i found out a little more.
So for me before 4.1.1 SMS was my biggest issue that notification would never go away unless i manually cleared it with the app or the widget.
I noticed that is was working on 4.1.1 after i went to accessibility and turned it off and then on again for Lightflow. after i did this i noticed that the notification for SMS was clearing on its own. So i thought it was all good.
UNTIL
I reset/tuned off the phone and received another txt. The notification would not clear on its own. So i was messing around with it and went back to accessibility and turned it off and on again and now the SMS notification clears itself until the next reset of the phone.
Hope it works for you guys. I dont mind toggling a setting until an update comes out.
lightflow issues not fixed on 4.1.1 derp :silly:
Gtalk and Gmail both clear correctly. Gonna see how it is with SMS and Missed Call when I get one of those.
uh. what's up with the title of this thread?
How about on 4.1? Is it playing nice on there? A ToroPlus GNex here...I will buy it if yes
I just downloaded the lite to try it. I feel like its hit or miss. Too much customization and easy to get lost. For example, right now, I have two different notifications going off for like SMS and email. Because within the SMS and email app themselves I've defined a notification sound and then within light flow settings you can define a sound. So I get x2. I think the trick may be to go into the app settings themselves and set them to silent. Then use light flow and set the sounds up. That seems to be the KEY. However, there is a learning curve it seems to this APP. Once you set it up, your good...but dam it takes awhile.
Colors are working good though, but the dismissal of notification via "opening the app" dont work worth crap. You have to set it to "on screen" dismissal
Plus I found myself disabling and re-nabling the app from withing settings --> Accessibility often.

No, I was fine on 4.0.4 but when i went to 4.1 it stopped working, I'm now on 4.1.1 and it's still not working.
It is a fantastic app though, I'm sure the developer will update the app eventually to work with 4.1.1.

"OK Google" detection from any screen kills the alarm

Just in case someone else runs into this issue.
My alarm (default app) would get snoozed immideately after going off, thus becoming useless.
I have discovered that if I disable the "OK Google" detection from any screen option, the alarm functions fine.
Hope it helps someone not to miss any important appointments.
The ok google from any screen feature also kills the video camera. You get a "can not record while on a call" warning.

Running in to a similar issue. But instead of the alarm snoozing. I get a pop up message stating "Alarm/Clock has stopped working" and then a flashing notification light. The problem started just this week. I uninstalled the latest Google update and also turned off OK Google" detection from any screen, but that doesn't seem to have had any impact. Odd that I've had no problems with Google Now up until this past Tuesday.

However, I moved to Timely alarm app since and it works just fine.
