Custom boot animations? - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

Is it possible to change the boot animations in stock ff18 rooted?

You will need a custom kernel to do boot animations.

Kernel must have init.d support.

[Q] EB13 Deodexed - boot animations

So with the stock EB13 deodexed can we just replace the bootani files to change the boot animation now?

No you need a modified kernel to do that. If the kernel supports a boot ani your stock animation will show a vertical black box flickering with the word android in it

I believe that both the dual file system eb13 kernel and the genocide kernel support custom boot animations. Flash one of them and you should be good to go.
Is there any way I could get the stock boot animation and flash it over?
I've googled it for about a hr last night couldn't find it.
There is a thread in here where a guy packed the stock animation into a zip search it in here stock boot animation

ROM Toolbox Boot Animation Help?

Recently I downloaded ROM Toolbox Lite, but can't seem to get the custom boot animations working. I set the location to /system/media/ and ran the install boot animation script, but I still get the same default animation. Any suggestions? If it helps, I am running Juggernaut v5.0.

How do I know if a kernel has customboot animation? I haven't seen any kernels that directly state that they do...

Agar Recovery??

So I've been gone from the Epic Touch scene for a while. Now that I'm back I see that some things has changed. What is Agat ?? What's this issue I'm hearing about kernal issues. And why don't my recovery says cwm like it use too or rogue recovery, I'm totally confused. Thx in advance

That's the link to his kernel
And his kernel is a re packed kernel with its own recovery that is safe to flash from... & has performance/battery tweaks to improve your phone

His recovery is safe for flashing other TW based ROMs, so do not try to flash JB with it.
Thx for the info.

[Q] crt animation?

Do any of the rooms have the crt animation? If so which ones? If not then I guess ill make a crt animation framework mod for the stock from a little later.
Nobody has a ROM with CRT yet. I'd be very appreciative if you made a flashable zip for a stock ROM.

[Q] ramdisk

What is the deal with ramdisk? How do i switch between kernels to test out¿ do i have to flash a rom everytime?
Ex: i was runnin stock rom/kernal 4.3 for awhile, then just flashed fancy.. Do i have to reflash stock rom to clean the ramdisk?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk
If fancy has its own ramdisk it is reccomended to dirty flash your rom.

the way I've always assumed for ramdisk was specific stock settings, symlink setups, init files and such
sorry I can't explain much further.
maybe to try to get more useful info for your question, try Google "zimage vs boot.img, what does kernels ramdisk do/contains"
you will probably get many Linux.results, but they translate very easily into android since android kernel is Linux based
Lol.. Thanks

basically certain kernels have its own ramdisk (. i.e franco )so its not recommended to flash different kernel without flashing the rom first.
wipe cache
flash rom
flash gapps
flash supersu if needed
flash kernel
