Extended battery questions - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Since the GNexus has NFC, any suggestions on an extended battery? I've heard the battery isn't too great (especially on the version one) but I plan on getting the HSPA+ one. Or do all the extended batteries for the GN come with NFC?

Check in the Accessories Forum, I remember a very good (& informative) thread about extended batteries in there.
P. S. There's a bunch of extended battery threads in there, just had a look.

If it comes through the carrier, it should have nfc

I have experience dealing with extended batteries in that I've owned several Android phones which all had sh*tty batteries. To be honest, the way to go is normally the cheap Chinese-made ones you can find on Amazon or eBay. I've had a lot of luck with those (and even if you don't have luck with them, they only cost $5-$10 or so) and ordering more is always easy. I just ordered 2 for my Gnex and it should arrive tomorrow. Go to Amazon or eBay and search for 3500mah extended battery w/ NFC and SOMETHING will come up. For reference, I just ordered the Onite 3500mah w/NFC from Amazon. Good luck! If you have any questions ask away!

I want the 2300mah battery cause it sounds more appealing but idk cause that battery is the same size as the factory 1750mah yet its able to give 5x the more battery without enlarging the battery and no back cover. Sounds fake, but idk, What do you guys think?
I personally wouldn't get one unless it supported NFC.

1750 to 2300 in the same form factor?
I bought the LTE extended battery and of course there's a noticeable increase in size, needing the different cover. But is a 550 mAh increase possible in the same size?

Why would a battery influence NFC? Or is the antenna in the battery door or something?

the NFC chip is inside the battery. so the battery has to be official, or at least have NFC chip inside in order for NFC to work.
I wouldn't get the 2350 one, most likely its a cheap knockoff no where near capacity that high. probably lower than the stock battery. Labels are easy to print.

You are better off buying a stock replacement battery to keep around than to buy cheap any other batteries, no matter the mAH rating advertised.
the extended batteries for the Nexus are bullsh**. normally, an extended battery is at least/close to double the mAh as what the stock is. these 2100 & 2300 batteries are a joke.
just FYI, there are no antenna contacts in the battery door so even if you leave the door off you can still get a signal.
additionally, if you don't mind leaving it off & doing a slight mod, you can get a generic Droid Bionic 4000mAh battery for $12 online and use that instead. the Wh isn't quite as high but it's still 3.7V and will last much longer then even that 2300 one.

If it has more capacity than the stock battery, then its extended. There's no promise of a minimum extra amount of battery over stock to be considered an extended battery. Not sure why you're so up in arms about it. Give it a little time for 3rd parties to make larger extended batteries with fitting battery doors...

There's no way that's actually a 2300mAh battery. Don't buy that lol. If you think the 2000mAh battery is worth it you can go for it, but its only ~14% more capacity, so you can't expect drastic life improvements. As another poster said if you REALLY need extra life you're better off getting another stock battery and a wall charger to swap them.

i realize it's my opinion but it is disappointing considering that 'extended batteries' for practically every other phone out there are nearly double(sometimes even more so). i don't understand why they even bothered making a 2100 'extended' & not just included that as stock with the phone since it goes through battery so quickly. i have my fingers crossed that mugen or seidio will make a worthwhile extended.
Thanks guys, I decided I wont get neither. lol.. I'm pulling 10hr-16hrs on the Nexus anyway. Compare to my previous T-Mo S2 and i9100 S2 I was getting the same battery life. I will upgrade the battery but ill wait for the official Samsung battery when it hits Europe sometime next year.

I bought the extended battery for 25 dollars from Verizon and its pretty good, I get 2 days on my nexus with light use, full day with medium to heavy use.
now sure if the stock one was garbage to begin with.
I had a Mugen power batteries 1800mah extended battery for my sensation, thought it was a good battery
A friend of mine bought a 2450mah knock off battery from ebay and offered to Get one for me, I said the same as all of you, no thanks doubt it actually that size and I bet it wont last as long as my 'smaller' Mugen battery. So he bought me one to test.
At least on my sensation, the cheap battery was noticeably better than the Mugen (3 hours better)
So from that, I'm willing to try this knock off, considering I'm in Australia and have literally nothing I can use nfc on anyway

I'd love to buy the GSM version, but the link posted in the OP isn't working

Maybe you try it later or order from eBay?

Anker 1750mAh battery for SGH-T989

So I found this 1750mAh Anker battery for the T989 and I'm wondering:
The standard OEM battery is 1850mAh.
This Anker battery is 1750mAh.
Anker is known to make higher capacity batteries that don't require a separate back cover. (I've had an HTC Sensation and an Anker battery was like heaven on it)
So is this Anker battery really 1750mAh? It would seem kind of pointless since the OEM battery is 1850mAh ... Has anyone ever bought this before? There are no reviews
Yeah, I saw that as well. I don't think it's worth getting since it's a bit worse in mah compared to the stock...
I knew that the Ankers were reasonably better than stock EVO 3D batteries, but this does not seem to be the case here.

I'm wondering if anyone got it. Its not even so expensive. I suppose Anker made it 1750mAh but did some tweaks to make it last longer than stock, if that's possible at all. Just a guess.
Any other batteries anyone would recommend? I only prefer one that barely adds much thickness with a new cover.

My results with the 2050mah battery are noticeably better than stock. I would go as far as to say that I'm getting 2 or more extra hours out of each charge. For $10 on Amazon, you are definitely getting your money's worth.
I was going to insert some screenshots and the Amazon link, but apparently I have to post 8 times to the forums before I can post links..... so, you'll have to take my word for it and do your own Amazon search for the Anker 2050.

NFC capable batteries are usually only made by OEMs. Currently Samsung only offers a 200mAh extended battery and I doubt they will be offering another.

NFC is NOT proprietary. It is a technology used by many manufactures like Samsung, Nokia, RIM, etc.. However, aftermarket NFC enabled batteries are uncommon. Most of the time they are only available through OEMs.

Look for the Seidio Extended Battery 3500mAH with NFC for the GSM Galaxy Nexus on their website (seidio online in google).
It's a bit pricey ($69.95) but WELL worth it imo...this battery + one of Franco's kernels makes my Galaxy Nexus have INCREDIBLE battery life (4+ screen time easily per day even with gaming and a lot of browsing on 3G) and NFC works with it too, I tried it personally at McDonalds with Google Wallet and it worked fine.
What would it take to put the nfc antenna on yourself? As in pull it off the stock battery and put it on the aftermarket? Or better yet on the inside of the backplate.
Is that tweezers and soldering gun work or would you need factory equipment?

I've tried aftermarket batteries of that small of difference, I personally believe samsung makes their stock batteries of higher quality than the 10$ dollar ankers or the likes therof. Therefore, I think its a wash as far as daily phone hours of usage. But I'm pretty confident the cheap aftermarkets won't last as long in the long run. I think the best option is just get a replacement battery, have it charging all day, use your phone to your hearts content, no extra bulk. Then at around 7 or 8 when its getting low if you had a big usage day, pop out the battery, put in the new one. We should be grateful as g3 users that we have this option eh.
