I've tried LeeDroid and now InsertCoin (full wipe, no restoring of apps), in both ROMs I can't login in Skype. After entering user and pass and clicking on "Accept", it says "Signing in..." and there it hangs (i've left it for 5 mins). Maybe it has something to do with AdFree?
Any idea?
try going into settings > applications > skype
and clear data (everything)
I've tried this already, it doesn't work. It also doesn't work when I try Mobile network instead of WiFi :/
Hello,
I am on RCMix 2.0 and skype works. Try re-installing it, I know it had issues last week but not the Android versions.
Sorry please ignore
Thanks, but I've also tried that already. Btw, when I enter a wrong password, I get a message that my password is wrong.
Okay i've now done a logcat:

Sorry, doesn't know if that helps, but these days Skype has a problem with their servers and are doing some maintenance
Sent from my HTC Desire
It could be possible that my problem occurs because of skype server problems. I can login from my computer, but maybe the mobile app uses another server or so.. but there are no comments about it in the market
push......
This is driving me nuts!
Realizing that my Desire GSM (PVT3, S-OFF, stock HBOOT) won't ever go beyond GB only with the help of HTC, I started looking at alternatives and flashed a ICS build. This was at an early stage so I wasn't expecting much and that's what I got: not much. System app hung, leaving me with no alternative but to take the battery out and wipe Dalvik to boot it.
As the ROMs have progressed, my expectations have risen but still I two major issues:
1) Spontaneous reboots
Often when picking up the phone, I need to enter my PIN because the phone has rebooted. Sometimes I can go a day without that happening, sometimes it happens 3 or 4 times in a row.
2) No WiFi
It won't even turn on, the aLogcat trace is as below.
Seems it can't find the H/W at all! Is this something that can be attributed to the RIL?
This is all really confusing to me, had no problems at all w/ stock HTC ROMs. I have so far tried different versions of Sandvold and MIUI ROMs. Anybody experience the same or has a clue to what's wrong?
Still no go - more evidence
As I thought WiFi was dead, I restored the phone to stock HTC 2.2. Lo and behold, now WiFi worked!
Armed with fresh new confidence I installed a number of 2.3 Sense and non-Sense ROMs (Runnymede, CM 7.1 etc.) just to see the same problem again.
Any idea? According to the dmesg below it's a hardware problem but since it work at least sometimes with stock ROMs it can't be that bad. Any other 2.3 user who could post their dmesg for a functioning WiFi card?

First of all, go back to stock 2.2 (clean install from RUU, not a nandroid) and keep runnin' it for a few days while monitoring WiFi. If the WiFi's stable with stock, then it must be a software fault, in which case i'd advise you to upgrade to the latest radio from the official GB ROM when using GB/ICS ROMs. If the WiFi's not stable even with stock 2.2 + stock 2.2 radio, then you have a hardware problem on your hands and my bet is that nobody but an HTC service can help you with that.
Here's my logcat for enabling the WiFi connection + connecting to my router (i have replaced the MAC strings with ADDR).

Looking through your logs and comparing them to mine, it seems to me that your logs say that your device doesn't seem to be able to properly mount the SD card.
Code:
[ 512.170928] mmc0: new high speed SDIO card at address 0001
[ 514.212982] mmc0: Data timeout
[ 514.213256] mmc0: Controller has been reset
I know (from reading XDA) that USB bricks are associated with SD card read errors, WiFi dropouts, network dropouts etc. While i am in no way versed in mobile devices, i believe that your issue is somehow software-related, not a hardware fault. If i were in your place, as i said earlier, i'd try reverting to stock 2.2 (full RUU - stock bootloader, stock radio, stock everything) and i'd monitor the device for a couple of days. If i would encounter the same problems as under the ICS ROM you're using, i'd switch to a different custom recovery (some recoveries/recovery versions are known to have bugs) and i'd try to use ye olde USB brick fixes. Only if all would fail i'd call it a hardware issue and dip the phone in liquid Frackitol.
Thanks for your suggestions, TVTV.
I have tried reverting to stock RUU 2.2 - naturally the WiFi works... Right now, I'm running RunnyMede 5.0.1 (Android 2.3.5, Sense 3.5) and everything just works - WiFi running well and no hard or soft reboots. With any ICS build, though, I get the "data timeout" and occasional CRC check failure for mmc0 as above.
Your post got me thinking of the USB brick case. Although I have none of the other symptons, it could be a case of messed up misc partition, I guess. Tried updating to Alpharev HBOOT and them misc reset as described here -> android.modaco.com/topic/309939-usb-brickrickrolledb0rked-fixed/
Running out of ideas so pass me that bottle of Frackitol, please...
It seems that you're not the only one who ran into this issue. Check this thread out.
The OP seems to have solved his problem by replacing his/her SD card which was faulty and was being mounted as read-only.
I installed a bit older htc sense 4.x rom on google g2 (htc vision), which was rooted about 2-3 years ago. Suddenly after the rom was installed, I found the su rights were lost, recovery is not available, also had to get rid of this rom as I don't see the top notification bar. Phone is 30% brick as I don't know what's the battery charge, new notifications, signal strength.
I'm not sure what cause this issue. I'm trying to re-root again and the ADB is not working on mac (list being empty) or windows (SDK manager doesn't open). Just getting frustrated. Any idea or suggestion on how to proceed would be a great help.

Wow, that's a comprehensive thread for G2, I'm surprised for not catching hold of it earlier. Coming back, I tried with adb, it returns an empty result. Tried the kill and start server, adb get-state throws "unknown' as the output.
Most of the threads that I have searched is suggesting to have ADB working to either bring it back to stock or do any sorta changes.
Tried adding the vendor id of the phone to the ini file, that too did not help. Has anyone ever come across anything like this?
I've been on this for the past 48 hours, without a clear idea on where to begin and how to go. I'm still going through the thread to see if it will help.
NOTE: I'm able to access sd card, connection with pc is fine. Phone is stable at least for the last two days, as mentioned before, no top menu bar/notifications.
Any takers? Since ADB is not working, how to move ahead?
Can you check out post 5 of that thread I linked you, really what I'm after is for you to write down all info from bootloader here

Sure, this time I tried installing ADB on windows-7, the following are the results. I'm in the mean time trying other commands.
I killed and restarted the ADB server, now the ADB is working (not sure how suddenly)

Your issue with adb is that you have eclipse or another emulator open, kill that process and then try again. But this doesn't give information from bootloader on phone. If you power on while holding camera down button you'll see a screen with three androids on skateboards. This is important information

After killing and restarting the adb server, I see one device listed, I guess that's not an emulator. For the other command:
Code:
C:\Users\sp>adb shell dmesg ; adb logcat -b system -b radio -b events -b main
I receive a very big log, should i paste whole thing here?
BTW, camera button and power (vol down + power), restarts the phone, doesn't go to bootloader. Any other options to get in there?
I have rooted the phone myself earlier by using gfree (NOT Visionary) so should I be downgrading it to stock?
Well the log can be pasted into pastebin than linked here
Otherwise just be sure to wrap it in #codewraps
But still would need the info from bootloader screen

removing the post, as i'm able to lauch bootloader

by using the adb reboot bootloader, I'm at the bootloader screen here are the details i see:
Code:

MICROP-0425
RADIO-26.03.02.26_M

list of options were:
BOOTLOADER
REBOOT
REBOOT BOOTLOADER
POWER DOWN
The reason why you are having issues is the system partition size, right now you have the engineering bootloader for the g2, which is good but you can't flash sense ROMs. If you want to use many of the recent ROMs or any sense ones really you need the eng DZhboot.
Check that main link again that I sent you and see the link for fastboot (How to why to) in there you will see instructions how to flash the dzhboot and if you want there is a PC10IMG.zip I made in post 30 of that thread that can also work.
Bear in mind that you will need to flash a new ROM after this as flashing a new bootloader will wipe system

I am hoping that someone can help point me in the right direction since this issue is driving me nuts. My FireTv worked perfectly, ppdated through the official method to the latest FW (51.1.1.0), installed XBMC, rooted it, etc. After a while I decided to do a factory reset. Everything went OK but since then I cannot play any Instant videos or Netflix content. Instant video throws an error saying to try again or contact customer support. Netflix buffers around 40% and then gives an error.
I tried everything without any luck:
- Cleared Amazon VOD data and cache
- Cleared Netflix data and cache
- Reset factory settings again
- Downgraded firmware, upgraded firmware
- Unregister from account, created new account with prime trial, registered to new account
No matter what I did the error is still there.
I have other devices (PS3, Smart TV, iPad) and on all of them Prime Instant Video runs just fine on the same account.
Here is some data from logcat in case somebody knows what it means:

I'm seeing the same issue and so are my parents across 3 different units.
YouTube, crackle, xbmc, all work. Netflix, Hulu, and Prime content that hasn't been cached all get errors.
What are others seeing?
-UPDATE-
I just spoke to Kyle in tech support (super weird call) and he had me force close the app, clear cache, clear data for the Amazon Video app. That fixed all 3.

Tried it again, still no go on my side. I have a funny feeling that they are doing something on their side to fix the error and once that is done, a cache and data cleanup on the unit fixes the issue. Hopefully other people will chime in...
